The Ending Legacy #1

The Raven Queen

Rate this book
An uncrowned queen. A rebel on the run. A legacy of lies.

The Corvo Kingdom is on the brink of ruin. The wasting sickness is spreading, the queen is dying, and the people are living under the constant threat of invasion. The fate of the realm rests on the shoulders of a woman reluctant to embrace her destiny.

Princess Delphinia is a prisoner of privilege, haunted by the ghosts of her past. She has spent ten years shielding her son from her consort’s cruelty and her kingdom from her father-in-law’s army–inheriting a crumbling kingdom is the last thing she needs. But to keep her son safe, she will have to sacrifice what little freedom she has left.

Finlay Cartwright has been hunted his entire life. When enemy soldiers venture too close to his people’s hidden settlement on the outskirts of the Seven Kingdoms, Fin embarks on a journey to unearth the nefarious schemes of kings and queens threatening all they have left. The last thing he expects is to follow the trail to Corvo City, a place he swore he’d never return, or to rekindle an old, forbidden flame along the way.

The Raven Queen is the first book in the fantasy romance series, The Ending Legacy, set in a kingdom built atop our own ruined civilization.

The Ending Legacy is set after another series, but it is not necessary to have read it to understand this book. I received this book as an ARC and after reading the synopsis I was so curious about the story.

This book is a post-apocolyptic version of our world, set roughly 300 years after The Ending. It has bits and pieces of the old world combined with the mental powers of the people who survived.

The story follows the dual POVs of Del and Fin. Del is the soon-to-be ruler of the Corvo kingdom, and Fin is the guy she never forgot from a decade ago. The book switches back and forth between the two of them, allowing you to see the intricacies involved in the politics and the histories of both characters.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The premise had me intrigued and I am so incredibly curious to see what happens next. References to the old world and the technologies and buildings mixed with the world the survivors have created - a mashup of medieval-style fantasy and modern technology - made for a really interesting setting. The world-building was excellent and the characters were very real in their emotions and reactions. I loved seeing people that were hurting but able to dig deep to find the grit they need to keep going.

The Raven Queen was an excellent start to the series (there is also a prequel book, if you want to start there) and I cannot wait to see where it goes next.

✑ Before The Raven Queen, I highly recommend reading the 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗹 (𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿). Doing so makes TRQ so much more 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 when things finally happen because HELLO! What the hell?! Like, finally, right?

✑ Anyways, 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝗲𝗻 is dystopian meets fantasy. It follows 𝗙𝗶𝗻 and 𝗗𝗲𝗹’𝘀 POV. 𝙸 𝚕𝚘𝚟𝚎 𝚋𝚘𝚝𝚑 𝚘𝚏 𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚖. I love Del’s devotion to her son. She will do anything to protect him, and I mean 𝗔𝗡𝗬𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚. I liked 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗵'𝘀 character from the prequel, and I love him even more in this one; I did not expect him to do what he did.

✑ The pacing for TRQ was a mix for me; it was slow at the beginning, but when things 𝙵𝙸𝙽𝙰𝙻𝙻𝚈 happened, it went by quickly because I couldn’t stop reading. I just had to know what would happen and needed things to happen. However, it did slow down just a little bit somewhere in the middle.

✑ Overall, I enjoyed this book, and I cannot wait to read the next book because of the way this ended. 𝙸 𝚌𝚊𝚗𝚗𝚘𝚝 𝚋𝚎𝚕𝚒𝚎𝚟𝚎 𝚒𝚝 𝚎𝚗𝚍𝚎𝚍 𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚠𝚊𝚢.

⚔️world building
⚔️dual POV
⚔️telepathy
⚔️mild steam/second chance love

This is a classic multi-kingdom fantasy series complete with second chance romance, betrayal, and a prophecy that might rid the kingdoms of the wasting disease.

My favorite part of this book is definitely the telepathic connection between some of the characters and animals 🥰. I’ve always wanted to be able to communicate like that so that aspect was really fun to read.

This was a fun read. It has all the elements I like to see in a fantasy series and is definitely set up to have several more books.

The book jumps right into action from the first page. There are definitely some plot nuances and character development that I think I would appreciate or understand more if I had read the companion/prequel series books- which I will definitely now be doing!

Highly recommend starting with The Ending Series.

THE RAVEN QUEEN has everything I look for in post-apocalyptic fantasy — a dystopian world, immersive and unique world-building, characters you can’t help but root for (and some you hope die a slow death), and a delightful slow-burn romance. In addition to all of the above, this particular book also included rival kingdoms, rebels, and lots of political intrigue. ⁣

The story hooked me from the start, where we’re introduced to the super interesting world which is ours, but different. Our current technology and way of life is considered very outdated by their standards and it was interesting drawing comparisons between the two worlds. In this world, theres an equally interesting magic system and the characters have some really unique abilities. ⁣

The story is very dark at times, with the threat of death from a mysterious illness always lurking in the background. I really liked the characters and their particular roles that they play in trying to save this crumbling world, despite the fact that there really isn’t much worth saving. The world is brutal and bleak, but the characters and their resiliency offer a bit of hope along the way. Also, I loved the romance between Del and Fin and their second-chance romance. ⁣

All told, a unique and immersive first installment in The Ending Legacy. I’ve heard that this is a spin-off of another series and I’ll definitely be picking up the original series to get more of this fantastic world. 4 stars. ⁣

I took some time over the holidays to read Christmas books and was so happy to get back into fantasy. I received this ARC and honestly going in wasn’t sure what to think. I hadn’t read the previous series about the Patrons but the way The Raven Queen was written I still was able to pick up the story and get into it fairly quickly. I am definitely going to go back now and reread all of the other books that lead up to this one because I am fully invested in this world….. and after covid let’s be real who wouldn’t be.

As far as world building…. I’m from the PNW. I love that this is a “west coast” setting. I’m hopeful they in the future will end up in the evergreen kingdom and will travel through what used to be Oregon to get to “Seattle”. The references to our outdated technology and how what we’re living is their history I found really interesting. Am I now a fan of dystopian fantasy 🤔 I may be now after reading The Raven Queen!

I can understand as a mother why Del did a lot of things that she did. I am excited to see where the next adventure takes them. Not only is there now an enemy kingdom to stop but an important life to save.

I want to communicate with animals, I want to see into peoples minds….. I want all the abilities! I’m here for it. All of it! I can’t wait for the next book! This book was so easy to read and before I knew it I was done. I enjoyed it!

Ok, let me start by saying that this book is interconnected with another series (and a prequel) that I unfortunately did not read. At times it felt like I was missing infos, and I also felt like I didn’t have the connection I should have had with some of the characters to properly enjoy them as they made an appearance in the book.

That being said, I really did enjoy my time reading The Raven Queen and it IS a good fantasy book. It started a little slow for me (and that was to be expected because… world building) but once it picked up, I was entertained. The characters are super likeable (and have supernatural abilities) and I loved the concept of a dystopian universe set in our world after it « ends »!

Do I recommend? Yes, but read the prequel (World After). Will I continue reading this series? Absolutely (and most probably the other books before)!

Lindsey Pogue and Lindsey Sparks bring us back to the world After the Ending! One of my All Time Favorite series!
It’s been a Long time since “The Turn” and The Raven Queen follows up the prequel, World After where we first meet Del and Fin!(not necessary to read prior but wouldn’t hurt. 😉)

Del and Fin have both longed to be together… but with Del feeling a sense of duty to the Corvo kingdom and Fin feeling an obligation to his people, they have been separated for 10 years.

This story brings you a fantasy full of action and suspense! The romance between Fin and Del give this story that extra boost of emotional connection! I mean my heart ached for them so much!!

“You have always been loved,” he whispered. “You have no idea how much.”

Absolutely Recommend!! I can’t wait for what’s to come!!

So good! So glad I read the prequel, World After, which ties this series to The Ending Series with the appearance of Jake.

This story takes place 10 years after the prequel and has Del and Fin meeting again after all this time. So much and nothing has changed since they were last together. Del continues to fight for her Kingdom and Fin continues to lead and protect all of the people displaced from the 7 kingdoms. There are some exciting new revelations, some action and some tender moments.

There's obviously much more story to come and I can't wait!

“When purity kills and the last raven falls,
look to the dreamwalker for guidance. The cure will . . .”

Royalty, power plays, prophecy and an illness that is slowly eroding civilisation as they know it Del finds herself in a battle to restore peace and balance whilst trying to save her son from their bleak fate.

With an appearance from Jake, an original character, I loved how the old perfectly blended into the new story lines and although not necessary I really recommend reading the back catalogue to fully immerse yourself into this world of despair and struggle with fleeting glimpses of hope and humanity.

This story is steeped in mystery, woven with violence and greed whilst also capturing the embers of a yearned for love and souls that have felt lost whilst apart. It’s so easy to get lost in this dystopian world where humans have extra senses and gifts, yet we are still wrapped up in our own hubris that history repeats itself. The moments of joy and happiness are like the rays of the sun breaking through after a long storm but I fear they have much more to weather before their journey is over.

I cannot get enough of this world, the characters and I am excited for the next in the series!

I am SO excited I was able to receive this ARC, because man…this book was such a wild ride! The main characters, Del and Fin were so well written and the world building was fantastic (think dystopian post apocalyptic/romantasy) and the twists this book throws at you will have you questioning everything! The setting is 300 years after our world, and it was so neat to see things from this “old world” mixed in to the story. The ending left me wanting more and I can not wait for book two!

There is a previous series set before this one begins (which you don’t necessarily have to read in order to read this one) but after reading this I’m hooked, I will definitely be reading all the others 🙌🏻

Thank you to the author for providing me with an eARC of this book via BookOfMatchesMedia in exchange for an honest review!

The Raven Queen is a romance fantasy story set in the same world as The Ending Series, with a post-apocalyptic world as the background.

“An uncrowned queen. A rebel on the run. A legacy of lies."

I was really intrigued when reading the synopsis of this book and was excited to start reading this book. When opening the book, it mentioned the timeline of what happened in a previous series set in the same world, but many years prior. You don’t have to read that series to read this one, luckily haha.

The writing was done in a very easy and flowing way, making me breeze through the pages. It was easy to following along what was happening and what the characters were going through. Because the world was already established in an earlier series, I did miss the world-building a bit. A bit of a recap I think would be beneficial for the readers to completely understand the world and the major things that happened prior.

The characters were nice, but didn’t really jump out for me as of now. I really liked how driven Del was and the love she has for her child. She is truly a mother in every sense of the word and I liked how strong she was as a character. Fin was very admirable and loyal and I liked how he just went for it.

The romance was sweet, but it felt overly developed already. This is because of the prequel story in which most of the relationship was developed. I only found out about the prequel when I had finished the book and I would recommend reading the prequel first. The progress of the romance felt superficial, since they kept referencing whatever happened ten years ago, and I had no information safe for some basic things about what happened between them ten years ago.

That being said about the prequel, I think it would also be beneficial to read beforehand because it is referenced quite a bit. Mostly, when prequels are written they give extra information or insights in the past of the main story. In this case it felt more like the prequel should’ve been the first book. During the whole book this past was referenced and it felt like I should’ve known what happened to understand all the references, little jokes and some of the plot.

The ending was quite predictable but I did like how it was executed and how it set up a storyline for the sequel!

Overall, it was a good book with an interesting world. I do recommend reading the prequel story before diving into this one. I think I would’ve enjoyed it a lot more if I’d done it in that order.

𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 The Raven Queen is the first book in a new spin off dystopian fantasy series, The Ending Legacy. It takes place a few hundred years after The Ending Series, and can be read alone or after the original series. I do highly recommend reading World After prior to The Raven Queen, it is book zero in the new series, taking place 10 years prior to The Raven Queen and shows how the main characters met and adds so much depth to the characters and relationships if read before!

𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 The Raven Queen is set roughly 300 years into the future, in a dystopian world built upon our own ruined modern civilization that was taken out by a virus and left many with supernatural abilities. Del and Fin find themselves once again working together to right wrongs and do what is best for their people. Del is struggling to come to terms with her impending rule as Queen of Corvo Kingdom, knowing her mother won’t make it much longer. The old queen has a wasting sickness that is infecting many in the kingdom, and no viable cure is available, leaving the kingdom vulnerable in the eyes of its neighbors. Fin, living in the unclaimed desert lands, must once again seek out Del’s help to save his people, who are in danger from a neighboring kingdom. The two may have been apart for the last ten years but their feelings are still very real and their relationship is even more complicated than it was when they were star crossed teens (in World After, book zero).

𝐦𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 If you like dystopian fantasy and epic adventures this book is definitely one you’ll enjoy! The world building and magic system are creative and vivid, the romance sweet and filled with slow burn angst! I really enjoyed The Raven Queen and I am definitely looking forward to book two!! I need to know what happens next!!

The Corvo Kingdom hangs in the balance. The wasting sickness is no longer contained to the inbred elite but has spread to the masses. The old queen is dead, the Princess's consort is dead, and there is no one left as a barrier to invasion. Del isn't sure she is worthy to be queen but she will do anything to protect her son. When Fin, her true love returns to her life he's no longer the reckless boy of her youth but a strong ruler in his own right. The two are strangers now but their hearts and bodies remember. They have a common cause and a common enemy; a world to save and a boy to love and protect. And, of course, a prophecy to fulfill.

The world is far removed from the Turn and their ancestors long gone. Yet the influence of the Patrons still holds and Jake still walks the earth. This spin-off of my favorite dystopian series After the Ending is full of adventure, intrigue, danger, mystery, and a touch of romance. The world-building is tremendous and the characters are compelling. I love the phrase "a prisoner of privilege" to describe Del. I can't imagine a more fitting description. She's more burdened and less impulsive than she was five years ago. Duty and fear for her son and kingdom weigh heavy on her. Fin is also less impulsive. He's a mature, caring, capable leader now, responsible for those who have already lost too much. Liam is a sweetie. A true innocent full of life and love. And Jake is heartbreaking. It sounds wrong to wish death on someone but he has more than earned it. I want him reunited with his Zoe and back with Dani, Jason, and Becca. His existence has to be crushingly painful and lonely despite his present-day ties. The way these characters' lives are interwoven with the past is fascinating and their current story is gripping, and with the ending, it's only going to become more so. I desperately want to fast-forward. I need answers. I have so many wishes for these characters. Just like their ancestors, their journey has captivated me.

"Tough Stuff" and Fin ❤

🔹Dystopian Fantasy
🔹Dual POV
🔹Second Chance Romance
🔹Royal court politics/intrigue and deception
🔹Prophecies
🔹Slow Burn

This is a new series for me, as I hadn't read the books previous to this. I adore these authors, and *my* what talent- I have read other series by them not in this genre. I was thrilled to quickly discover I could still understand, and thoroughly enjoy all that was happening within the world of these characters- no extra explanation needed. Although now I really want to read the origin story from the original series 😉. I've read many dual POV books in the past by other authors, and it often felt jarring- this book flowed seamlessly. The main characters of Fin and Del (FMC) are well crafted, layered- and full of heart and complexity. This reader was pulled into their orbit instantly! I couldn't wait to see what would happen next. There are a great many revelations that rock our characters worlds in this book.

A fantastical dystopian world ruled by different kingdoms. It seems that time may be drawing to a close for that system as a wasting sickness is taking hold of many of the elite. Political plotting/deception, illness, treachery....who is behind it all? Del certainly has a lot on her shoulders as princess, with far more hardships to come within these pages. Adventure is coming in a hard won way. Anyone who thought Del was a meek, glass-like figurine of a princess had best think again 😉. Fighting for those she loves will help her endure ANYTHING. Get ready to feel all the feels in this one. This was the perfect introduction to the world and characters- not to mention the start of this adventure.

If you like paranormal powers, animals, strong women, lost loves getting 2nd chances, prophecies, or royal political conspiracies/intrigue then this is the book for you 😉! I'm already looking forward to book two. I can't recommend this enough...two very enthusiastic thumbs up indeed!!!!!

Okay this book takes place in an area I LOVE, grew up visiting and so this right here made me super intrigued. Something cool about books that can take place somewhere you know well and love. There are so many special places mentioned in this book of places I’ve visited and couldn’t imagine living in a dystopian version of what I see now….

This book was a little confusing at first but by chapter 3~4 I had figured it out. I assume for myself this could have been avoided if I read the Prequel World After a lot of the initial questions I had I think were discussed in it. However I don’t think it’s 💯 necessary to read that first.

So we have Princess Del, who’s sacrificed her happiness for the betterment of others. Fin who’s changed ways to be a leader of a group of people who have come to count on. How are they connected??? Some secrets never stay hidden!

I quite enjoyed this book and figuring out what was going on and how storylines connected to each other. My most favorite part really connected me to the locations of where the book takes place and the places they visited! This was not a Dystopian story like Hunger Games or Divergent, it was quite in a league of its own and I really enjoyed seeing this type of story line in a different way.

Quick Blurb:
The Raven Queen is the first book in the fantasy romance series, The Ending Legacy, set in a kingdom built atop our own ruined civilization. If you like unique fantasy worlds and magic systems, court intrigue, second-chance romances, and stories that are equal parts harrowing and heartening, then you’ll love this epic adventure.

Let me start by saying I love when these two write together! Well done as always!
Fin and Del have had their challenges.
Del is now the next in line to reign over her kingdom. She is kind hearted and will do what she needs to do to keep her people safe.
Fin has grown to rule over a group of people trying to escape the cruelties of what the world has become. He doesn't see himself as a king. He feels he is only capable of trying to keep people safe. This has earned him the placement as the Ghost King with the extreme loyalty of his people and the extreme fear and hatred of King Eduart who wants to posses everything.
Fin leaves his safety to find out why his lands are being dug up and sampled. It's for a prophecy that the invasive king has used to scare people about Fin's growing kingdom. It's not the land that is the danger, it is Fin. His travels lead him back to Del, his only true love.
Del is trying to save her realm from takeover. When Fin reappears, it's just in time to save her and her son.
Fin finds out that Del's son, Prince Liam, is really his. He saves Del and Liam from a sured tragic ending and they begin their journey to save their people, reigniting in their fated love!
Hundreds of years after the turn, life is difficult in extreme hard times only using abilities of people to help. Abilities are their biggest advantages. This story combines some of the conveniences that people used to have with the challenges of having nothing.
Best part? The ending is one of the biggest cliffhangers I've ever ended a book on!
I enjoyed this story as I have everything these two have written together! I cant wait for the next book!

The Raven Queen is a rousing post-apocalyptic world born out of the Ending Series (by the same authors). You do NOT need to have read the Ending Series to enjoy this book. Those who have read the Ending Series will get the added bonus of understanding some of the characters and events that are referenced; however, there are substantial details to be able to be engrossed in the book and still have context. The world setting is amazing and vivid. The environment as described you can feel the leather, taste the dust and even want to hide from the sweltering sun. The political machinations, devious plot twists, and trials and tribulations of love never overshadow one another, they all come together to make a rich reading experience.

The writing styles of the two authors do not distract from the book at all, rather it allows for a very unique character experience. The flow of each author’s character really gives depth to the mindset, inner dialogue, and an understanding of the rationale behind actions. The character's voices are therefore unique and fully developed. By the end of the book, you will think back and completely understand character choices and actions, so much so that if you have not read the Ending Series, you are going to want to. You will be eager to fill your mind with all that fills this dystopian world.

I admit to being a fan of both authors' books. I find each of their writing styles to be unique and when combined, complimentary. This collaboration is exciting and entertaining, and I am enthusiastic about additional books in this new Ending Legacy series.

A intriguing NA historical fantasy with romance!

The future of the Corvo kingdom was looking grim. With a sickness spreading, the Queen dying, and threats of invasion…Princess Delphinia has to take the steps to change her kingdom’s fate, and the possibility of her father in law’s army inheriting the kingdom is not something she has in mind. However, the kingdom is not the only thing she wants to protect, she wants her son to be safe and that is going to require her to make sacrifices.

Another character, Fin Cartwright is another main character who comes in contact with Delphinia during his journey to find what schemes the royalty had in mind that involves the hidden settlement he lives in. What he discovers from Delphinia though, it is not something he expected.

Overall, a wonderful book! This one in particular has a twist regarding the inheritance of the kingdom, which I think is intriguing. The book is also very descriptive in scenes and settings! I like that it switches perspectives between two characters which gives us more to what is happening! Moreover. Delphinia’s love for her son is amazing and unique to this story.

Anyone who enjoys second chance romance and fantasy, this one will be great to add to your tbr. Also what a cliffhanger, it leaves you wanting to read the next book to know what’s next!

I recommend giving The Raven Queen a read!

This story follows Del and Fin who last saw each other ten years ago. Fin left feeling betrayed, while Del had to be the princess of the Corvo kingdom and marry to secure an alliance, even if it meant misery for her. Fin and his people are in the desert and notice Ferals digging and they follow them to see what they’re up to, and end up learning about a prophecy that does not bode well for them and may involve the Corvo kingdom. Meanwhile, Del is trying to protect her 10 year old son Liam and trying to figure out a way to stop her husband Alastor and his father from taking her kingdom away.

This was such a fascinating world! I have read a dystopian novel by Lindsey Pogue and something about these dystopian worlds I just love and the romance is always to die for! And for someone like me who is not a reader of dystopian novels, I will read any by these two authors!

The lives of Del and Fin are so different and yet so heartbreaking in ways. When you read about their story it’s just so tragic and yet hopeful after reading this book. I love the found family(and real family) aspect in this book. The family dynamic between mother and son, and then father and son, was so wonderful and just made my heart happy 🥰

I look forward to the next book in this series and now I need to read the other books set in this world!

I received a free digital copy to read. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started reading The Raven Queen. I haven’t read the prequel series, which introduces the characters of this book and references their backstories. That said, I love the intrigue this has brought to the story, which means it’s just as enjoyable reading this book without the background, as it sometimes feels like we’re unravelling pieces of the past that feed into the story like a mystery. Set approx. 300 years after the world ‘ended’ we are introduced to Del and Fin as their worlds collide again having been together 10 years prior. A lot has changed since, and they’re both facing pretty dire situations that bring them back together. I love the way the point of view shifts between Del and Fin, as we see their perspective of the choices they’ve made and the experiences they’re experiencing.

Though it took getting my head around the medieval world mixed with magic and modern day technologies given the timeline, I really enjoyed reading this book. The descriptions are so vivid, and the imagination of both Lindsey S and P combined have created a world with so much depth and history that you often feel like you’re right there with the characters in the story - it's just written SO well! They have created characters that we can both relate to and stand behind, I found myself rooting for them all from the very beginning. I’d highly recommend this book, and its convinced me to read The Ending Series as well.

The ending series is my favorite dystopian series. With the Ending Legacy being set nearly 300 years after the last lines of the Ending Series, there is a huge gap in time.

Spoiler:

Although we catch glimpses of what happened during a portion of that time through Jakes memories and it was nice having Jake still in the story along with these glimpses, I am disappointed that the story jumped so far ahead without more back history between where the Ending Series left off and the Ending Legacy Series begins. I think a lot could have been written to explain how the 7 kingdoms formed and why the characters in the Ending Series had to eventually abandon the farm.

The Ending Legacy Series to a large degree seemed more reminiscent of a Medieval story so sometimes I seemed to have to remind myself that it was so far into the future and still part of the same story vs a fantasy novel set back in past times. Granted the world as we know it had been completely destroyed but I think a 'gap' story would have given greater continuity between the two time periods.

All of this said, I still enjoyed the story for what it was, though The Ending Series remains my favorite dystopian series regardless of, or maybe even in spite of The Ending Legacy. I'll reserve final judgement until reading the next book coming out in the series, The Ghost King.

**I received an ARC of this book**

Wow.

I gave myself four days to read this book and read it in half a day.

I first came across The Ending series in 2016, and came back to it again during the first lockdown where I found The Savage North Chronicle's as well.

This book does a great job at calling on the history from The Ending series, and it made me long for more stories about Dani and Zoe. I'm happy to see the legacy they have left behind, however.

The Lindsey's effortlessly switch from dystopian sci-fi to dystopian fantasy with the raven queen, and kept me hooked throughout. There are so many twists and turns that I didn't see coming, so many things that made me angry and sad and happy and all the emotions.

It makes me so sad to see what the world has become when we were left with such hope at the end of The Ending/Savagw North series'. But so much changes in the world that I couldn't expect 300 years to have changed nothing.

One thing I've always wanted is to find out what was happening in the rest of the world, and the authors hinted at distant and foreign lands so I wonder if we'll find out one day...

I can't wait to see what else we'll get from The Ending Legacy

This is a good action, adventure book full of drama and intrigue. There is unrest in the kingdom as the queen dies and the heir apparent is imprisoned as an
imposter. She escapes with help from her loyal friends and with others makes a journey away from the kingdom and rekindles a love from 10 years ago on the journey.

If you’re looking for a book that will keep your attention along with a story line you’ll want to see to its conclusion, get this book and then you’ll be ready to read the second book to continue the exciting tale later this year! The reuniting of lovers long ago has not changed their feelings and now there is another to cement that bond more firmly!

The story will captivate you as you try to picture the future where the cities we know in the West are a thing of the past! Some people have new abilities but all are affected by “the wasting sickness” which is taking people’s lives and now an important one is sick with it. Finding the cure is now paramount for these two people and their friends!

I enjoyed this book and highly recommend it as one which will keep you reading well into the night as the story is too good to put down! You just have to find out what happens next!

Get this book and get ready to be entertained about a possible future for our world!

Thank you to @BookOfMatchesMedia and @authorlindseypogue, @authorlindseysparks for giving me an arc of this in exchange for a honest review.

So this book is set in the same world as the ending series by the same authors (duh!) It takes place well after the events of that series. While it isn't hard to understand the plot, and The Raven Queen can be read without reading the first series, I think knowledge of the first series would help you grasp the world a lot quicker!

That being said this is the first I've read from these authors and I must say they have described the world and situation we find our main characters in very well. We follow our main characters, Del and Fin while they navigate there situations.

I had a lot of fun reading this book. It was such a fast read, it was easy to grasp the plot and the characters were easy to read.

The book had some plot points that had me shook. I had no idea where the plot was going to go from there but was happy to go along for the ride!

This book has:
- Mild violence
- Death (off page)
- slave collection
- magic
- mystery
- Dual POV (Del and Fin)
- Court intrigue
- second-chance romance

♦ Dystopian Fantasy
♦ Second Chance Love
♦ Slow Burn
♦ Found Family
♦ Superpowers
♦ Part of The Ending Universe

I would highly suggest you read the prequel World After. It introduces you to Del and Fin and how they met. And gives you a bit more insight into the world 200 years after The Turning. In the Raven Queen, The Corvo Kingdom is on the edge of collapse. Which brings Del and Fin back together after 10 years of being apart. There were constant twists and adventures throughout the whole book. The Lindsey’s know how to take you into the world and visualize the scenery. I thought it was so cool the story takes place in the Bay Area, CA (where I’m from). Also, I loved the animal companions! If you are into a dystopian fantasy, with lots of adventure, and a slow burn second chance love, I say give this series a chance! I really want to check out The Ending series. I’d love to know how The Turning began, how the first people dealt with super natural powers, and how they came to be.

The Raven Queen has a dystopian fantasy vibe that I really enjoyed. With a lot of fantasy books, the world building at the beginning can be a bit confusing with all the information that we’re given and we’re trying to process but it did get easier to follow along as I continued reading on.

I really enjoyed the dual POV for this book. I always love multiple POV because we’re able to get a sense of the character and see inside their minds and their reasonings.

I think the thing I most enjoyed about this book was getting to see the journey of Del and Fin. I think this book was the first time I read a second chance romance and it’s definitely a trope that I want to explore more of! There’s still tension that I love but there’s something different about it compared to reading enemies to lovers (which is probably my favorite trope).

Things I enjoyed:
Magical powers
Dystopian fantasy
Second chance romance
Found family
Political intrigue
Mysteries

Didn’t know there was a prequel so I’m going to check it out because it might give me more insight with the world.

Book is available to purchase now if it sounds like something you would enjoy.

“An uncrowned queen. A rebel on the run.

Finlay Cartwright has been hunted his entire life. When enemy soldiers venture too close to his people’s hidden settlement on the outskirts of the Seven Kingdoms, Fin embarks on a journey to unearth the nefarious schemes of kings and queens threatening all they have left. The last thing he expects is to follow the trail to Corvo City, a place he swore he’d never return, or to rekindle an old, forbidden flame along the way.”

Lindsey Pogue does it again with WORLD AFTER & THE RAVEN QUEEN 🙌🏻

I enjoy dual POV books, especially when the story involves second chance romance. Add in that it’s a post-apocalyptic fantasy *chef’s kiss*

It’s a definite read/listen recommend from me! 📚

4.5 ⭐️

There is a prequel to this, as well as a series that takes place well before Del and Fin’s time, and I feel like it was necessary at some points were I was missing context. This world is so complex with a mix of dystopian and fantasy, and I feel that at least the prequel is necessary for understanding this in-depth world and romantic context.

The writing was so remarkable that once things really picked up, I was pulled in. As mentioned before the world is incredibly interesting and complex

I really loved Del, and the love she has for her child. She’s a really amazing character, and I found myself really loving her POVs. Fin’s POVs were also interesting because he’s so passionate for what he does. Their romance is a second chance romance (again definitely check out the prequel for context), and it’s so sweet.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book, and I’m ready to jump into the prequel and the Ending Series while I wait for the sequel.

WOW! That was one hell of a thrilling and highly entertaining story. The creative imagery portraying a dystopian setting with fantasy elements woven throughout brought the story to life right before my eyes. I was instantly captivated by this unique world and had a hard time putting this one down. It kept me riveted to my seat, gripping my kindle tightly and craving more by the end.

The unique characters, Fin and Del, take us on an action-packed journey filled with suspense, political intrigue, emotional turmoil, drama, angst and a slow burn romance that had me consuming this story as quickly as I could.

Fantastic writing that pulls you in and keeps you hooked on the story and needing to see what comes next.

These two authors are new to me, and I can’t wait to read more of their incredible stories.

4.5 stars! I would call this Dystopian Fantasy, I think. I loved the timeline in the beginning, giving details about what happened before The Ending. It really put me in the mental space of the book, and now that I know there is a prequel series I really want to read them!
One thing that the authors did so well was characters, developing them and giving them depth. Throughout the book the reader discovers more and more about Fin and Del. It’s a natural progression, instead of an info dump.
The abilities were so neat, I loved the animal mind connection. It was also fun to realize the different locations of the setting, a lot of the time it was described in a roundabout way so it took a moment to make the connection to the real locations. Like a fun little Easter egg.
I loved the bit of a twist at the end, the new mission set up for the next book. What a great read!
