Hidden Riches is book #6 in the Secrets of Grandma’s Attic fiction series.

While helping her sister update one of the rooms in Grandma Pearl’s house, Amy Allen discovers a secret staircase hidden behind the wall. She and Tracy expect the staircase to lead to the attic once again, but are surprised to find a secret room instead. Inside they find a drafting table, mysterious sketches, and an antique locket with photographs of a little girl and boy inside. Whose belongings are these? And why are hidden away?

As Amy researches the Depression years in Canton and begins to piece together the connections between the desk, the sketches, the locket, and Grandma Pearl’s life in 1933, she is reminded that she is not the only one to ever question whether God will provide. In a financial bind herself, Amy has been struggling to keep her family afloat on her own. But perhaps she will learn that God’s provisions can come in the most mysterious of ways.

About the author

I have been reading and writing for what seems like my whole life! In middle school, I realized I wanted to write historical fiction someday. And while I took creative writing classes in high school and college and beyond, it wasn't until 2000 that I began writing seriously toward publication.

My first historical novel was published in 2011 by Bethany House--a dream come true! But it wasn't the first novel I'd written. It was the 5th. Over the course of 10 years.

Now it's 10 years after publication and I have 4 novels and 2 novellas to my name. Or rather, to the name Anne Mateer. But now--in 2021--I begin the process of returning to my given name and re-releasing those books with new covers.

I love history and fiction. I love my family and friends. I love to read and talk books with other readers. But most of all, I love Jesus. He continues to transform my life to look more like His.

Another fun adventure with Tracy, Robin and Amy with a find from Grandma's attic!

In particular loved the message of helping those in need. Young Matt set the ball rolling by recognizing a student in his class was hungry. That led to so much more.

This story was amazing! I have hit a good run in this series as the 3 books in it that I’ve read over the last 3 days have all been incredible reads for me. The mysteries in Hidden Riches were so compelling, it hit all the right buttons for me to be a story I loved! From the mysterious Mr. Rick, to the hand drawn maps and pictures, to Amy’s financial worries and Matt’s new friend this book, this was one I eagerly devoured. This one was a library read but I will be purchasing my own copy as soon as I can because this one needs to be on my shelf! Fantastic read!

I thoroughly enjoyed how this story included real historical events and used the character's interactions to provide teachable moments. Love, compassion, and trust in God played a big part in this story. The ending did not disappoint!
