Christmas on the Cape

Rate this book
Christmas on the Cape is a novella that introduces Annie Cabot’s new series set on Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

Moving back home is never easy, especially as a newly single mother, but Rachel Adams is determined that she and her little girl, Everly, will manage just fine.

With the help of her sisters, Lucy and Hannah, Rachel sets out to build a new life for herself while renovating her recently deceased aunt’s small cottage on the bay in Periwinkle Shores, Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

Lovingly referred to as the Sea Glass Girls, the Adams sisters grew up collecting sea glass and listening to their aunt’s stories about the mysteries of the Cape Cod National Seashore.

After the funeral, Rachel finds that some of her aunt’s stories were left untold and once uncovered will force the women to confront the pain of past hurts and regrets.

Everly’s future depends on Rachel and her sisters making peace with what they can’t control and accepting a gift from an unexpected source.

A new series ~ A new year ~ A new cast of characters to fall in love with.

Like all of Annie Cabot’s books, Christmas on the Cape will have you laughing one minute and crying the next, but most of all, it will give you hope that no matter what difficulties you endure, there is always a new chapter waiting for you, just around the corner.

A very poorly written short story which I finished simply because it was short.

Starting over

After reading Anne Cabot's other series and waiting for the new boom I branched out and am so happy I did. I am certain she has me hooked again. As a friend and going into Labor during a bridal shower on a boat to moving back home. I love these strong women in Anne's stories.

Family second chances

New author and great start to a new series set on Cape Cod where I grew up. The first book, a novella, covers Rachel's return home after a divorce. She reconnect with her sisters and they work together to fix their Aunts cottage. Nice introduction to the characters and location. I can't wait to read the rest of the series!

Simple story

This is the first book I've read by this author. It's a prologue of sorts to a series, very simply written. I found the dialogue and narrative to be a little stilted, it seemed like a first draft rather than a fleshed out complete book.

What a great start to what sounds like a wonderful series. I loved learning about the three sisters as well as getting to know Jack and Oliver. I am looking forward to picking up book 2, and reading it as soon as possible.

Good beginning to series

Rachel and her baby move back to Cape Cod into her aunt's house that she inherited. Her sisters, Lucy and Hannah, also live on the Cape. This book introduces each one and sets up for more stories.

Life is Too Short to Waste Reading This Book

This book is so poorly written -- it needed a much better editor! -- and riddled with cliches that it was painful to read. Simply a waste of time.

Great Easy Read

What a surprise ending. It's a light read about live gone wrong and live gone right. You will enjoy it, as long as you aren't expecting a perfect book with a lot a twists and turns. It's just a feel good, family reunited, story.

Painfully predictable with little depth or conflict. And very lazy writing in terms of not doing proper research about estate issues and transfer of property.

The overall story was good but the characters and their realtionships felt very rushed and forced. I am not sure if it is because this book is a Novella or if it's the writers writing style.

Unsatisfying

It was good but more like it should have been a few chapters in another book. No feeling of a stand alone story.
