When her controlling, unfaithful husband bans Xmas cheer for another year, it's beginning to look like Joy will need a Christmas miracle to rekindle her holiday spirit. When an unexpectedly magical gift promises to deck the holiday heck out of her halls, suddenly a little seasonal celebration sounds like just the thing to warm up a snowy Christmas Eve. But just as things are getting toasty, the festivities are interrupted with an chilly blast of reality.
Can Joy's new yuletide companions prove they're orna-meant to be together and shake things up for good?
The Stockings Were Hung: A Why Choose Hearth Warming Story is a short, sweet, and spicy novella that will ensure you'll never look at classic Christmas poems quite the same way. Content considerations for this story include: Stockings stuffing one another as well as the main character, Abusive relationship (spousal - not between main pairings), Allusions to cheating (again, spousal - not between main pairings), magical imprisonment, cuckoldry of the sort where someone really doesn't get a say about it, magical irrealism, bondage, projectile lamp hucking. This M+M+M+F story is polyamorous / polyam. If we’ve missed mentioning any content considerations you feel should be in this list, please let us know! The safety and comfort of our readers always takes precedence.
After reading Back for Seconds, I knew I needed to read this one too.
This was another short and amusing read by these two authors. I enjoyed reading about three stocking shifters with their festive balls and shiny tinsel making a mess…everywhere. I giggled quite a few times and I’m happy I decided to read it.
I’m definitely going to read the others in this series because… FUN.
p.s. I’ll be paying closer attention to the contents of snow globes from now on.
I don’t have a clever pun for this one, just read it! lol
I don’t know how they keep doing it, honestly. I don’t. This was SO good! How was this so good?! 😂
It’s incredibly absurd and I was absolutely giggling in delight through the entire darning scene. But it was also magical and festive and the ending was somehow this perfect HEA.
Vera & JL make an incredible team, I should just know by now whatever they write will be amazing.
So we have our FMC, Joy, who’s being abused by her husband, Benny. Her husband’s hatred of Christmas and tearing down of her tattered decor leads to Joy crying. A neighbor with mysterious Christmas decorations insisting she use them. It’s got some genie in a bottle vibes with the whole three wishes thing, except the wishes come with hunky men. The revenge stuff was creative. Could have used a bit more spice. Also, credit where credit is due: love the title.
An erotic short story that features, yes, three guys who are Christmas stocking shifters. Ridiculous in a fun way, with a bunch of care and love for a heroine who has had an awful marriage to this point. Not a fan of the epilogue but it was just the distraction I needed on a tough day.
I have found my new favorite Christmas story. Out of all the magical item shifter stories this is oddly the most believable. Not in the sense of it could happen, but just there is no over explaining on how they exist. They’re just ancient magic items and that’s that. I definitely suggest giving it a read for your holiday reads.
Got exactly what I expected. It was a short, fun read. If you like Christmas puns, sexy magical men, and some revenge on the side... it might be your cup of tea 🍵
Can barely believe I’m saying this but I didn’t enjoy this as much as Unhinged 😂 and I’m all for poly MMMF stories. It’s definitely spicy and fun, curious and wildly intriguing though.
TLDR: I absolutely love this book. MMMF cinnamon roll men? Yep sign me up

Joy just wants a little Christmas cheer in her life but her ass of a husband hates the holidays and will not let her put up any decorations. In fact, when she tries he tears them down and storms out to go to the strip club.
She goes outside and her sweet neighbor Agnes brings her a box of her old holiday decorations saying she doesn’t put them up since she lives alone now.
Joy tries to refuse but Agnes cryptically tells her he won’t touch them and Christmas is a time for magic.
Inside, Joy finds three ornate oversized stockings, and a log with a sash that says “Burn me on Christmas Eve”
She discovers a poem on the inside of the sash telling her to hang the stockings, light the log, and speak aloud her greatest wish.
Joy knows her asshat husband won’t be back for a while so she decides to hang the stockings and she finds something inside each one, including a bag of powder labeled “blow me”
As with most of our heroines joy says screw it and goes all out, lighting the log, blowing the magic dust, and wishing for someone to always keep her warm and also to not be married to the douche anymore.
Some Scandinavian Christmas magic happens and she finds three hot half naked men in her house.
Joy is apparently more levelheaded than a lot of our FMCs because she chucks a lamp at one of them. Except he “bleeds” red glitter.
Pause here because the man, Brick, says “Damn that stuff always gets everywhere” which I had to laugh at because my husband calls glitter “craft herpes” since once you get it on you, you can never get rid of it.
Ok anyway, it turns out joys wish brought the three men, brick, blaze, and cole out of their stocking forms.
Joy is v confused and offers to give them clothes but our himbo Brick is just like, uh but that would make it pretty hard to have sex. At joys startled gasp he backtracks and explains they can start having sex with each other first before they add her in.
In an unexpected moment of tenderness we learn that the men all love each other but it’s hard while they are stuck in their stocking forms waiting for someone to summon them.
I’m gonna skip over the schmexy details but let’s just say there is some hot why chose action and their 💦 is varying colors of glitter tinsel.
Joys husband comes home and the three stocking dudes tear him apart and turn him into a snowman in a snow globe. Still conscious though so he could experience his punishment.
As with all books written by Vera Valentine and J.L. logos, there is just so much more detail than I can begin to unpack here.
All I can say is that if you want a sexy weird book that’s written extremely well, here it is! Read at your own risk.

Sweet, spicy, and hilarious - as always!! Also like always, I find myself wishing there was more. The way that Vera Valentine imagines these tales just blows my mind. The ingenuity, the creativity, the originality. I have never read anyone else that can compare. The tinsel, the glitter, the wishing, and the sweet vengence on a horrible husband. Did I know that stocking shifters would be my favourite holiday read of 2023?? No. But it absolutely is.
Disclaimer; my apologies but maybe I’m missing something but I don’t know who J L Logosz is? I’m gonna have to look for a backlog 😅 now that I’m out of Valentine reads, even the dungeoned ones
Christmas stocking shifters, Christmas puns, a dark turn that I did not see coming but was incredibly satisfying - Vera Valentine and J.L. Logosz never disappoints!
The start and especially the end of the novella gave me Taylor Swift's No Body No Crime vibes and I loved it!
Read this if you are looking for a quick, fun, creative and sexy read with LOADS of tinsel.
Listen, there’s novel length books with detailed plot lines and there’s also this. Which is…. Not that. I found this books on the TikTok chain where the girl “reads books so you don’t have to” and I’m nothing if not a hoe for “awful” smut so here we are. 🙃
This 46 page story follows the basic Vera Valentine plot line of poor lonely woman has some abusive/nasty guy in her life and some inanimate object(s) come to life to have sex and kill the abusive guy. This time it’s three shifters who are also stockings on her mantle. They ✨release✨ Christmas tinsel.
Not really sure what I just read….I’m all for monster and/or weird shit in my books but men who are like genies but are stockings when not in human form probably isn’t my cup of tea. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either. I liked that the men were together but the author didn’t go into a lot of details about that. I was like she wanted you to know, but not be able to picture it if that makes sense? There was potential here but I think the author fell short.
“This by far was the strangest Christmas Eve I’ve ever had…” and then some for the woman named Joy, who was denied her namesake for many years. This is a fun short, a bit of spice but not too much, where everyone gets their justified HEA.
A hard read to find, you have to go to your search engine because it got locked in the zon dungeon for who knows why. But definitely worth the chase. Will definitely be recommending it to friends.
The Duo of Debauchery are back, and this time we have tumescent ornaments and tinsel instead of glowing strands of ectojizmic "joy" - the joy in this one is our lucky FMC. Vera Valentine and J.L. Logosz somehow manage to take holidays to an all new level with their Holiday Hedonism series, and I am here for them all.
Thisc was a delight read. There were av few dark bits that really made me laugh and love it more The plot is good and the characters are amazing. Great job capturing the readers.
I can't conceive of the conversation that brought Christmas Eve stocking shifters into existence. That are all in a relationship with each other. And view darning as deeply sexual. I'm just glad these minds exist because this level of bizarreness crosses firmly over into genius and I loved it.
I wish there had been more smut? This story felt very tame for what it was, and its very short so there could have been more of them getting together? Either way a fun, mad, short read. TWs for .
I want to give this one more than five stars for being the most wholesome why choose romance I’ve ever read. We’ve got stocking shifters, red, green, and silver glittery tinsel cum, ornament balls, an interestingly sexual sewing scene and some wonderful revenge on a shithead husband. Plus the guys are really hot…and hung! All the stars!
stocking shifters, tinsel cum, chestNUTs and bauble balls. This had it all. This is easily one of my favorite christmas reads ever! Not sold yet? How about this: MMMF, turning your shitty husband into a sentient snowglobe, christmas magic and sexual sewing. Vera never misses and J.L. Logosz is new to me but I will definitely be reading more by them!
There must be some glitch on Goodreads that’s making it seem like I read this book. I would never read a sweet, heartwarming, sexy, polyamorous, stocking shifter book, that’s just so unlike me. I mean, three hot af men who grant all your wishes and bang your brains out? Definitely not my type of book. But if I did read it….i would probably maybe love it.
Surprisingly mid for a smut book and a 4way... hate the pregnancy trope at the end and the stitching (lol) of the universe and the fabric (lol) of time part was so unbelievably weird and unnecessary. Love the random insane amount of magic they possessed though and great send off for Benny. The darning part was hilarious to read.

I read this as part of my twelve days of holiday romance. I didn’t even take notes and that’s how you know it was good. This one had a much more serious plot than the Thanksgiving one which at first was concerning but everything worked out okay. The stockings were so cute. I wish there was more smut and for that reason, Thanksgiving is still my favorite one.
One can always be certain they're in for a wild ride when Vera & JL team up. This doesn't disappoint. Wonderfully nonsensical and stuffed with puns, this super short read is too fun to leave under the tree. Tinsel adorned trees are going to look *very* different this Christmas
About what you’d expect from a zany romance story. The final twist is almost the most unbelievable part. The writing was a bit pedantic and I found a few typos which took me out of the story. A+ for effort though.
This stocking shifter romance novella was a fun read. Full of quirky characters, Christmas miracles, and spicy spice, this is a great holiday read. Keep an open mind, and let the magic of the season seep into your…heart.
I was going to say this was short and sweet but honestly it was more spicy than sweet haha! It was sweet too though! I really loved all 3 of the guys! And even Joy! I want more of them!
