When Dr. Alexandra Edison’s world was ripped apart, the last thing she expected was to end up in a casual affair with Blake Westmore. Soon after she was forced to choose between her past and her present, when her strong sense of obligation forced her to leave the woman whom she shared one of the most unforgettable experiences with, and head back to L.A. to help the woman who broke her heart. At that moment, it didn’t seem like she had a choice. She did what she thought was right, even if nothing felt right about it. Life made choices for her, which she had no control over, or did she? Dr. Blake Westmore allowed Alexandra to walk away from her without putting up a fight. She felt she had no choice but to accept Alexandra’s decision. Will she just allow Alexandra to leave her behind, or will she realize that she made a big mistake in letting her go, without telling her how she feels about her? Did she really have a say in the decision that life had made for them in some ways? Nothing felt right or fair about life just intervening and ripping from her grasp, what could quite possibly be the best thing that had ever happened to her. So, the questions remain. What will both women do? Will Alexandra remain in L.A. with the woman who broke her heart or will she return to the one who had healed her broken heart? Will Blake go after Alexandra or will she just let her go without a fight? The even bigger question is, will they get their happily ever after? More importantly, will their happily ever after be together? In the end, life will make choices for them and maybe it was just not meant to be, or was it? Content warnings for one scene in chapter 23 that involves violence that may be a trigger for readers.
Average read! This book #2 storyline was just okay at best -- because of the tediousness of these erotic sex marathon and it's dialogues instead of putting more into the true nature of this series --- building a relationship while dealing with their many issues. Had to skipped so many pages because of my annoyance -- having sex 90%, their friends, families & exes 10%
With the cliffhanger ending in If It’s Meant to Be, I was so looking forward to its continuation in When We’re Meant to Be. I was hooked from the 1st page and can’t wait to find out how it’s going to pan out between Alexandra and Blake. I got what I wanted and again the sexy scenes are hot 🔥 hot 🔥 hot when our favourite leading ladies got together again. Now…don’t get me wrong. I loved the sexy scenes in WWMTB but to constantly read it in almost every other chapter, I somehow lost the interest to continue reading it, and with Blake always second guessing herself as to whether she is worthy of Alex, I ended up dragging my feet to finish the book and skimmed over some pages. It got interesting at the 70% mark and that’s when I can’t put the book down. Then chapter 23 happened which I didn’t see it coming at all and it further pique my interest to get to the end quickly.
Overall a pretty good read for me...except when I had to drag and skimmed through some pages 😬
The previous book ended on a cliffhanger, so to have the opportunity to read 2 is out of this world. I would like to first think the author Skye, who offered me to opportunity to beta read and has been very kind to me. I cannot thank you enough for your support and I am wishing you a successful outcome on this new book.
The story opens up with Blake feeling conflicted about a date her best friend convinced her to go on. Her heart has not mended since Alexandria left . Blake feels an emptiness without the one person she believes changed her life.
The one thought that came to mind as I was reading this book was, communication is key, sometimes I feel like relationships are built or destroyed because of what we do or do not say.
There were some flash backs in the story, but for me it flowed very well, it did not detract from the story. If anything it helps you to understand all of the situations that Blake and Alexandria had experienced while apart
Chapter 7 is insatiable! The chemistry is like a fire blazing. They were completely on fire after this chapter, it just did not stop they were inseparable, it was out of this world spicy spicy spicy!
The book gives you much more insight into Alexandria‘s life with her parents and her grandmother.
Side note : the love scene after the gala omg 😳 Alexandria was on a mission. Chapter 13
Alexandria and Blake did come up against some obstacles in this book, but it makes it even more interesting.
Miranda and Trevor had a nice part in the book. It was nice to see her find a nice guy .
Blake was afraid to tell the story of what happened between her parents. She was very guarded when it came to her mother, extremely so, she was unable to share all that pain from her childhood with Alexandria. I just felt like she did not want to revisit that dark time in her life.
Blake’s story of the relationship that she had with her father was beautiful. But
The sad part about it is that her mother came from people that were racist and made her make choices that cost her her own child. The sad part about racism is that it is based off of the unknown. If we all sat down and really took the time to get to know one another, we will all realize that we have more in common than we think . Even when we don’t agree on things, why can’t we just learn to have love for one another and learn
to agree to disagree? I have to say that what is going on in the world today makes me even sadder. My mother used to tell me that the only person you hurt when you don’t give someone a chance is yourself. You never know who may come into your life and change it for the better. That’s why we have to look beyond the skin color, backgrounds, places we come from, and mistakes we’ve made to look deeper.
Side note Favorite line in the book :
“So, I chose the family that chose me, because family is not necessarily by blood but the people who treats you as such.”
I don’t wanted to give anything a way but there is something that happens in this book that you would never see comment that simply took my breath away when I read it.
I was very impressed by the character development. I felt like in book 2 we got a full backstory on each characters life before they met. Blake’s story really shined through and it helped you to understand a lot about her.
I would like to thank the author for the opportunity to beta read it was a wonderful experience, I also like to thank the author for an advanced copy of the book I’ll give this book five stars.
5 stars. The follow up to If We’re Meant to Be and it did not disappoint at all. I loved this book just as much as book one. What an emotional, sexy, and deeply romantic conclusion.
The story picks up two months after the ending of book one and what I really loved was that Alexandra and Blake get back together immediately and the book really is a smooth read and then boom! ALL of the drama happens and there was one particular plot line that had my heart in my damn throat. I cried like a big baby because I swear I was scared that Triessen was going to do the unthinkable. No spoilers but the last half of this book stressed me thee fuck out! It was amazing.
The romance between Blake and Alexander is so sweeping and I love how passionate they were. We also get to know Blake’s character a lot more and as much as it hurt it was really great seeing her let her guard down and be vulnerable about her past with Alexandra. They work so well as a couple and really bring out the best in one another. Also, the sex scenes are frequent and sensual as hell. Triessan really turned up the heat in this one. The writing is gorgeous and I loved how this book wrapped up. I doubt there will be a book three but I just want to stay with these characters and their beautiful love story. I will read whatever this author writes because this duet has really won me over and I can definitely see myself re-reading them.
3.5. This 2nd book kind of lost its fizz. There were some parts that I found it repetitive, the sex and Blake’s ramblings. But I still think it’s still above average book.
This book is all about exploring Blake and Alexandra’s growing relationship. I love the premise of starting with an existing relationship rather than needing to start the book out with a pursuit. This allows you to get deeper and deeper invested into their journey, routing for them and hoping that neither does something to screw it up. The writing is beautiful and the book is definitely worth reading! 4.5 stars. … just a nit, but there were just a number of small circumstances where the script pushed characters outside there perceived boundaries, making it difficult to believe in there reactions.
i felt like i read the same paragraph about 100 times, it was like constant wedding vows and it became almost childish around halfway through and seriously there was no need for that many sex scenes. id say i skipped half of the book purely because of how bored i was, which was disappointing because i really enjoyed the first book ☹️
Decent story but my goodness the dialogue was so bad. And I love a good spice book but it felt like that’s all it was. I feel the same about all 3 books in the series.
The long-awaited sequel has finally arrived. I enjoyed If it's meant to be so much that I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one. It really was worth the wait. It was wonderful to gain the much-needed insight on Blake. When I started reading it, I questioned why Triessen let things happen so quickly. As I kept reading, I really began to understand why. When We're Meant to Be had some surprising twist and turns that will keep you on your toes. Way to go Skye!
➬➱➫➩➪【4 Stars】 This was Skye Von Triessen’s second novel and follows after If It’s Meant to Be. This is also on Kindle Unlimited. Based on a few of my issues with the first book, this book was more complex and the characters did not feel as one-dimensional, which was appreciated.
This book addresses racism and violence against the LGBTQ community. We continue with Blake and Alexandra’s relationship and their ups and downs. There were a few time jumps here and there which were a bit jarring. I wish we were given the events in a chronological order. I thought this book was a great finish to their story. ➢Happy reading!

I love reading about milfs in love<3 Also this book would be even better if the writting wasn't so.... i dont know...simple? The editors of the book didn't do the best job of editing but the book was good nontheless, and had a lot less gramatical errors than the first one.
This book was everything!! I could read this book over and over and not get tired of it. I absolutely loved it! I went thru every emotion possible reading this. Once I started reading, I could not stop. I read while taking a bath, watching tv, during my breaks at work!! My girlfriend was telling me she felt ignored because my face was glued to my kindle 😂 I wish it didn’t have to end but the end was perfect. Now Im going to have a book hangover until I find something even close to being as good as this book. 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
this was the fastest dnfs in history I'm on chapter 5 and I expected sm more especially bc I love the author and her work but this is just a no for me when Blake had literally flown to LA for Alex and there Alex was second guessing her self on whether she should give Taylor another chance!!!!!!!!!!!! let alone how she already left Blake not only once but twice and stayed with her ex instead of going to Blake and leaving her 🙂🙂

Second book of the series, almost zero drama, just sex (and sadly, very repetitive) and passionate love between the characters. Don’t get me wrong, they are very nice characters and i love my spice, but i also need some drama and angst to keep it interesting
While I really enjoyed the first book in this series, I'm on the fence about this one. Don't get me wrong I enjoy a book with sex scenes, but that seems to me all this book was. It just didn't have enough substance to it. I'm hoping the third book will be better.
I love it when characters find the courage to set aside their pride, make peace with the past, and choose forgiveness to finally move forward and begin a new chapter. This second book did not only show that, but also explored the characters’ insecurities and vulnerabilities, the early stages of their relationship, the challenges they faced together, and their growth both individually and as a couple. The gradual character development of Alexandra and Blake mirrors the slow, imperfect process of human growth. It was frustrating to see Blake continually fight with her insecurities, but people do not overcome self-doubt overnight. It requires patience, self-reflection, and courage. Embracing insecurities shaped by societal expectations is an ongoing challenge, and no matter how many reassuring words come from others, true acceptance must come from within. And I love how Alexandra consistently stands by Blake, reminding her of love’s constancy and serving as her source of strength, being her rock.
The story also presents a reflection on social issues like racism, colorism, and discrimination. These themes deepened my appreciation of the characters. I’ve always felt that Blake carries strong opinions about life, especially when she mentioned in the first book that she loves listening to rap music because it tells the truth that society often tries to silence. I have never forgotten that part because I remembered looking up Tupac’s “Dear Mama” just to understand the kind of music that speaks to her soul. Now, in this story, we finally see the reason behind Blake’s passion for rap as it unravels the pain and misery about her past and family.
And my appreciation to Alexandra, even though she was born privileged, it never diminished her compassion for others. I agree with her when she said, “They only win if you allow them to win.” WE, who are often subjected to judgment, stereotypes, and discrimination, cannot always control others’ perceptions, but we can control how we respond to them. Those who discriminate gain power only when we internalize their words and allow them to shape our identity. The act of fighting back, therefore, is not always through confrontation but through perseverance, dignity, and self-respect by refusing to be defined by others’ biases.
Aside from that, I honestly didn’t expect what would happen in that specific chapter. Reading about Blake performing an emergency medical response outdoors, surrounded by people, with limited tools and mounting pressure, was so thrilling, and I found her so HOT! 🥵 I couldn’t help but wish there were more scenes like that. Yet at the same time, I couldn’t ignore the pain I also felt at the moment, thinking about the reason why she was put in that situation🥺
It was such a satisfying read because I enjoyed reading the bond between Alexandra, her family, and Blake. I especially loved the wisdom and warmth in Alexandra’s grandmother’s teachings, her words carried so much depth and compassion. I just realised that yeah, you can have more than one true loves in your lifetime. hmm woah. I’ve already read many romance books, and her words only made me realize that fact more clearly. I also felt satisfied because, as someone who’s…hmm… ✨ political ✨ 🤯, I love reading about the characters’ stance on social issues and their opinions and beliefs. And, of course, I can’t ignore how spicy the story was. In previous chapters, I was seriously reading or feeling sad, and then suddenly found myself in the middle of one of the most intense love scenes I’ve ever read. But above all, I felt satisfied because the ending was beautifully done and absolutely worth every tear I shed along the way.
Once again, I don’t think I’ve expressed enough just how much I adored Alexandra’s grandmother. There was something so comforting and wise about her presence that I couldn’t help but wish I could sit down and talk with her in real life. I feel like one day of conversation wouldn’t be enough to learn about life. She’s so adorable! 🫶
Right now, I'm sweating. Talk about hot hot hot. 🥵🔥🥵🔥🥵. Oh lord the book was steamy!! But behind all the steam there was such a beautiful story that was so worth the read.
Skye Von Triessen has a brilliant creative mind, which is demonstrated in her ability to keep you on your toes from start to finish. She did the same in book 1 and left us with a cliffhanger that many were mad about. Now when you look at what she did with book 2 that cliffhanger was so worth it. The start of the book had me wondering what the f**k. Then you can't help but wonder what happened why the start was like that and she gets you hooked from the very first line and you can't put down the damn book. Talk about brilliant character development of Blake Westmore. There is so much more to Blake than what was shown to us in book 1 and once again this author shows off her talent in keeping us wondering. So, she reels you in, have you feeling so good and horny, and then bam she brings you on this emotional journey filled with life lessons: survival, strength, perseverance, love. I felt everything emotion she tried to communicate to us and felt inspired by the trials and tribulations the characters had to overcome.
The author gave a content warning for chapter 23 and I thank her for that, but it was one of the most emotionally sensitive scenes that I have ever read. She wrote the scene with such care and emotions focusing on love in one of the darkest moments of the characters' life. And once again she brings you on this emotional journey of love and perseverance.
The title of the series is befitting of the story told because the book shows how life will happen and what's meant to be will be and all we can do is just continue living. The book was beautifully written and an eye-opener. It was so worth the wait and I hope to read more books from this author.
When We’re Meant to Be by Skye Von Trissen is a story that will stay with you long after the last chapter. Von Trissen writes with remarkable emotional honesty, crafting characters who are real, flawed, and utterly relatable. The romance is tender, slow-burning, and deeply satisfying, with layers of emotion that make every twist and turn feel impactful. This is a story about timing, second chances, and the power of love when it’s truly meant to be.
Quinn Riley and Charlie L. Wood bring the characters to life with exceptional skill. Quinn’s warmth and emotional nuance perfectly complement Charlie’s intensity and depth, making every scene feel intimate and authentic. Their narration adds layers of emotion and connection that make the story feel alive — you don’t just listen, you experience it.
When We’re Meant to Be is a masterclass in romantic storytelling, beautifully written and superbly performed. Fans of heartfelt, character-driven romance will be completely captivated.
Full disclosure - I LOVED the first book - 5 stars. I disliked one of the audiobook narrators. Not sure how you can narrate a book, monotone, but here we are.
Possible Spoiler
I was so pumped for this second book and, sadly, it did not deliver. The writing was all over the place, the storyline strayed away from anything the first book introduced us to, and it was just flat out, plain and anticlimactic. The descriptive words were so repetitive, that there were times I feel asleep, woke up a few hours later, and listed to the same sex scenes, at a different point in the book. It was bad. Way too much sex, not sure why the author did this, but it was overkill.
My biggest gripe came at the ending, where one of the main characters panicked because her girlfriend wasn't able to shave after a life or death injury. Like, this was the most important thing to think about?? That was a first for me. Very disappointing.
I really liked this writer. I am one who after reading the first book was dissatisfied with the ending. I don’t really like cliffhangers. I read a lot and when a book comes out months later, I need to reread the first before getting to a sequel. I did just that. I went from book 1 right into book 2 and I was so happy I did. The story of Blake and Alexandra was a really good one. I loved that the writer took time to address issues from the first book. I loved how the characters developed more depth and love within to make this reader fall in love with this story. I loved that we tied up the past, the now and the future. Amazing as the story is, I still feel they can go on. But this reader was satisfied with this book and I am going to say, I am impressed with the outcome. Looking forward to more from this writer….
Love love love! And I mean both Alex and Blake and my feelings for the book. I see a lot of people feel it’s repetitive but I adore SVTs writing style. I don’t mind the reinforcement of their feelings at every turn. The characters always their little bubble around each other no matter who’s in the room and yet they both have the space to grow side by side. I’m glad I’m reading the series now because I would struggle to wait in real time for the follow up books!
Im always smiling or reading a little faster during the arguments or feeling emotional in the final chapters because I’m so pulled into the story so 5* is deserved but if you want things to happen quickly then the book isn’t for you.
What a rollercoaster of a ride! Alexandra leaves and suddenly after 3 months is back. This story has lots of emotions that get stirred up and you feel all out of sorts. Then the emotions settle and something else happens to make you feel out of sorts again. Wow! Just great storytelling that grips you to know what happens next as fast as possible. We’re able to finally learn what happened in Blake’s life and why the Hayes are her adopted family. Meeting Madison is a shock, but not an unwelcome one when things calm down again.
What an ending to an emotional rollercoaster of a wonderful story.
My emotions are all over the place, reading it has had me so high, then weeping followed by deep laughter.
Skye Avon Triessen followed up a deeply emotional book with one that carried me through every emotion possible. The skill to pull this off is amazing. I had trouble putting this down until I finished it. I identified with these characters on a very deep and personal level. I was lucky in life to have a love like this, sadness enveloped me when she passed after 43 years together, yet this book brought many happy memories back to me, so I am greatfull to have read it. If you are searching for the best love story, you have found it here!
I wasn't aware this was book 2 for "If It's Meant to Be" and I was a bit confused at the beginning but I carried on to finishing the book only to realize it at the end so I had to re-read it again after reading the first book lol.
This is now added to my favorites. I really like the writing style of the author. Just enough humor, angst and romance to create a 5-star deserving book. I'm looking forward to reading more from Skye Von Triessen.
Two very deep and loveable main characters give us such a dramatic storyline that it's a true roller coaster. The thing that's constant is their love through all adversity and Skye does a sublime job of showing this.
Alexandra and Blake are a very passionate couple so get set for lots of steamy, but still loving scenes too.
A real heartstopping romance that you'll love.
Must be read second though, after If We’re Meant to Be.
This second book in the series still gives me all the emotions! I read it when it was first released and couldn’t wait to hear it on audio. Thankfully I knew to expect the cafe scene this time, but it still packed an emotional! The narrator dealt with those scenes really well.
The second book really does bring all the feelings! The good, the bad, the ugly and everything inbetween. Throw in a healthy dose of spice and this is just a brilliant read.
So glad this came out soon(ish) after the first one. I’m not going to lie…some of the parts I was like “there’s no way this is happening”. But the message and those lovely words that followed made me forget. This writer did a wonderful making me feel the pain, joy, and love of each character. Loved it!
Outstanding! Skye you have out done yourself, I thought how can you get any better than the first one. You did just that, exceeded my expectations and then some. Beautifully written, I felt every emotion. I caught myself crying during one chapter. I'm looking forward to future books!!
