The Complete Collapse Series Box set is here. 1000+ pages of space opera thrill ride from award-winning author Matthew P Gilbert. Perfect for fans of JN Chaney, Andy Peloquin, and the Halo Franchise .
The Empire is dead. And Captain Josiah Bleys, smuggler and charmer though he may be, is likely to soon follow unless he is willing to at least pretend to be something he a hero.
His 'pal' Chief Ragnar Kane, one of the Emperor's finest warriors, likewise harbors no aspirations toward gallantry, just increasing his kill count.
Fate, however, has other plans. The mighty, galaxy-spanning Terran Empire is mortally wounded, brought to its knees by a terrifying, intelligent plague from hyperspace. The core worlds are mass graves, and the government lies in ruins. Outlying colonies, suddenly isolated and without support, are on their own.
Luck (the bad kind) has both men stuck on the icy mining facility on Cerberus, an installation that won’t last long without resupply. Bleys and Kane must mount a daring raid on a neighboring planet to retrieve a legendary scientist in the hopes that he can reconnect them to civilization, or they and everyone else at their frozen outpost are doomed.
The trouble is that the scientist isn't exactly willing, nor is he exactly....alive.

Matt Gilbert, in addition to being a fiction author, is a professional video game developer; a veteran; a columnist for his local newspaper; and the father of three wild boys and two wild girls. He was born and raised in Woodbury, GA, and has been on watch for zombies ever since.
It seemed like just a horror show, with some odd unlikeable characters in a future setting. But I started laughing and then the plot twists and the banter took on a whole trajectory of its own. Highly irreverent, philosophical, and not what it seemed starting out. I am glad I stuck with it, it was a hell of a good time.
Interesting book. The fall of the empire closed all the jump gates, so each system had to work out it's own issues. The book follows Bleys, Ana, Ed, Rags, and Morgan through their adventures to open the gates so the empire could be reconstituted. The main issue is the "pestilence" which devours people and advances it's knowledge. A very good read
The three books so far are a light, entertaining read with some interesting twists on ideas (being and individuality, religion) found throughout similar genre books alongside more conventional tropes. Some of the dialogue seems like a weird blend of contemporary, futuristic, and 1990s speech. Certainly some good twists along the way.
A very interesting read. Very fee grammatical errors. I like where this is headed, as it does present a very humanistic possibility if not an outright actuality. Could this happen? Yes, it could. Why, because we do not know what lies beyond our planetary system. Keep up the good work. I would read more from this author.
Great story well written I highly recommend it! The plot is compelling, the characters deep and properly flawed, the scenes well described. Lots of action! My only comment is explosions cause no “shock wave” in a vacuum.
This was a great yarn that kept me turning pages. Interesting plot and characters too. My only problem was the abrupt ending. Too many threads left hanging as if the author got tired of the story and just quit.
The ending seemed to leave a lot unsaid the series could possibly have continued for another two books. Did Bleys wife survive did he marry Ana questions go on
