This is a mildly entertaining series that I keep reading primarily because the Y author fills a lot of challenge spots. I like the island setting, but most of the characters seem more like caricatures than actual people. (Yes, I know, book characters aren't actual people!) They're supposed to be friends, but the way they constantly quibble and even insult one another is astonishing.
I don't remember much about the murder victim from previous books, but he didn't seem to have many fans among this group, so there were plenty of suspects to think about. The story contained quite a few red herrings, which kept me guessing about who the killer might be. I will admit to being surprised when the culprit was revealed, but the motive made perfect sense.
There are four more books (so far) in this series, and I will probably read them all eventually, if only to take advantage of the Y author for my challenge spots. If I wait long enough between the books, maybe I won't be quite so irritated by their inane antics.
