I am bawling my soul out as I write this, not because the book is necessarily sad but because I am
heartbroken
that this series is now over.
I am very picky when it comes to five stars reads, but this author just pulls out reactions from me that I didn't even know could happen.
This book is the perfect mixture of lightheartedness, comedy, romance, and trauma. Yes, trauma, so check the TW before you read.
Grey:
At first, Grey made me so mad but I understand why he couldn't just give in. When I tell you that I shed more tears for Grey because of his stupid ass father, you best believe me. That poor guy just wanted to live his life, love his family but whatever he did just didn't seem enough to the man who gave life to him. I wanted to see his father dead, and so I was quite pleased with the outcome of events, though I wish we would've gotten a few more detail on what happens to him in the end.
Overall, Grey's character was lovable. You could feel his pain through his words, and the love he has for Luan is honestly sickening, but in a good way.
Luan:
Oh, boy, where do I even begin?
Luan is the best (more or less retired) narcissist I have ever gotten to read about. I loved every bit of him; the jokes, the NSFW texts, the fact that he just wouldn't give up. He knew what he wanted and he did everything in his power to get it, or well, get Grey.
The fact that he called Grey by his full name all the time was both adorable and a little weird, but oddly enough, I liked it. It was definitely different from a simple nickname, which made it unique enough for me to swoon over it. I don't even know why.
Their character development was everything and present , and I was more than happy to figure that out. A whole bunch of books don't have character development, and as this book takes course over six years, I was afraid there would be no difference to them at the beginning of the book and by the end of it. But thankfully there was!
Sure, mostly their personalities stayed the same, but their growth was visible. The fact that Grey did what he had to do was the best that could've happened, as was Luan entering his life. And I especially loved that Grey didn't choose to do it for Luan but for himself.
Luan also made a huge development and learned what he had to, which I don't want to name because of spoilers.
Overall, this book owns my whole heart and I would sell my soul, and both of my tits, to read it for the first time again.
Little side note; the inclusivity in this series is probably one of my most favourite aspects.
