In a world where all human males are nearly extinct, a distinct race of men discovers an opportunity to save their people from extinction.
There are stories being told; rumors that these Demons have killed the human males to take their females away.
That these Demons will torture women in order to get what they want; offspring.
They want more children to take over what is left of the world.
To bring hell to what was previously known as home.
With the population of men in complete decline, it is nearly impossible to continue the lineage of the human race. The women have no choice but to make a deal with the devils.
Every solar eclipse, a selection of women and demons will meet in what is known as the "Court Chambers". Where they will bed in hopes of each getting what they want.
This full moon, Mia has turned 23 and will be sent to the court chambers for the first time.
Behind the forest of her home, there are eyes that have been watching her for years. Glowing red eyes, patiently waiting for the day of her selection.
This was a DNF for me. Not because the story was atrocious, but because the writing was a little too amateur for me to ignore. The author changes tense in the prose often--something I could ignore if the change happened after a longer passage. But often, a sentence would start in present tense and end in past tense, or vice versa. A lot of common phrases were misused, and a handful of times spelled wrong. The concept is very intriguing, though. I heard about this from TikTok, and I follow the author, so I'll be on the lookout to see if they put out a revised/better edited version. My only storytelling qualms were that the first two chapters (all I read) bounced back and forth between present-day and flashbacks. And that the love interest, who I pressume was a grown man at the time, because he talked about leading his clan, spots, and falls for the main character when she's only 16. For those reasons, I DNF'd.
*If you are an avid reader of Wattpad or any type of fanfic site, then these issues probably won't hinder your reading experience as they are often found in those kinds of stories.
I was looking for something refreshing to pull me out of my reading funk, supplied by the recently awful TikTok recommendations I have been receiving and this did not disappoint.
While there were a few typos and grammatical hiccups that pushed me to leave 4 stars instead of five, this was super easy to read. Bia did an amazing job at making you feel like you were in her world by being extremely detailed but not to the point of it being exhausting.
There is a fine line between a book being pure smut or mostly fantasy and this rode that line so well. The storyline flowed really well while being entertaining and the spicy scenes were super hot, but I didn’t feel like either part overpowered the other.
I think Mia, the FMC, was level headed and actually acted normal. She was strong, yet sweet and she did not annoy me compared to some other books.
Grammarly is free. How this has its rating is seriously beyond my comprehension.
Chapters change perspective without warning. Too much flashback. Terrible grammar, sentence structure, and word or spelling mistakes. Details were constantly mixed up.
All of these things take away from the story and ruin what should've been an interesting plot.
The spice was... Not great. Two spicy scenes right in the beginning and then almost zero relationship building until FMC decided they'd become soulmates.
The FMC was an idiot, obsessed with what she knew and if others knew more than her but couldn't put details together to save her life. She's obsessed with being "free" but as soon as she's able to make her own choices she almost gets killed and on other occasions almost gets others killed but takes zero responsibility. It's everyone else's fault shes then under stricter supervision.
I'll be honest, I was waiting way much more romance than what we got in this story. I feel in love with the promotion about how a demon was blindingly in love with the human girl. And is true, that's what we get in this book, but there's so much more. There's way more adventures than romance. I was hoping for a more concrete build of their relationship but they barely spent time together. I would have loved more interaction between the main characters, they had the full potential for a better build up of their relationship . Ja melted my heart and I'm so glad he didn't die, lol. Overall, if you are very into fantasy with just as speck of romance and adventures then this is the book for you.
Sooooo I really really enjoyed this book 4/5 stars only. excuse there are issues with the editing. It is such a charming and creative story that it is a sha e its not edited better. HKWEVER I stillread the whole thing and I really don't like to read books with errors like this but I couldn't help but be drawn into the world and story this author has created.
I try not to write (type) negative reviews but I really need to get my thoughts out on this book. It had a lot of potential, I swear it did and I even finished it. The downside to that is that I don't dnf a book.
This book was confusing asf. I had to re-read a lot of part simply because of the back and forth between who was and who wasn't talking. Then, too new characters were introduced in the book that the main ones really got lost in the sauce. The spicy scenes were good but not anything I would write home about. Anyways, the book had potential but it was lost with me reading it.
The world building is impressive but the continuity is lacking for the storyline.
Ghe perspective changes without title. Sometimes mid chapter and you’re left reeling until you figure out for yourself who’s eyes you’re seeing through. The jumps in perspective and scenes kept pull out of the moments. But overall the characters and landscape were beautifully described and written
2.5- it started strong enough and had some interesting characters and world building. I really liked her training with the soldiers but man everything after that was just long and boring. Tiktok fails me again
I really enjoyed the story for this book, but it was littered with typos and grammatical errors that would suddenly distract me and take me out of the narrative I had been immersed in. The concept of this story is great, but the work itself could use another read through for edits.
The smut was 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Plot could use some work though, I felt like it dragged on at some points. Also, there were many many spelling/grammar mistakes
The ideas and concepts in this book were really good. I felt like the story was unique in its own way and I didn't feel like I had read this book before. I don't know for sure but it feels like this author is maybe just new to the game. There were some issues with the writing that could have you distracted as a reader. Nothing that a good editor couldn't fix but it did just feel like this book maybe needed just a little bit more work.
However, overall I enjoyed the read and would probably read the second book.
