5☆+  Absolutely loved it!! Rom Com at it's best!!

The Accidental honeymoon had me laughing so hard I was highlighting bits so I could go back and laugh again.

It's a story of friendship, family, lust, betrayal, relationships, jealously & rivalry, drama, pretending, fun, hilarious moments, a fair amount of drink, and one disastrous wedding, not to mention kidnapping an old lady and a not so wild hen party!!

When Georgie catches her fiancé cheating she decides to go off and enjoy the holiday in Vegas she was meant to be sharing with him, before attending her cousins wedding.

It's here she meets Jack the Casino security worker who follows Georgie because thinks she is going to jump of the building!

So when he loses he's job because he was helping Georgie she sees him at the bar and offers him to dine with her.

The night gets pretty wild.... so when Georgie boards the plane to return to the UK she is shocked to find Jack jumping on the plane claiming they are married lol

Oh yeah and that she's won £20,000 lol

What a predicament.... sitting next to her is her very annoying, yet endearingly sexy husband.... she is off to attend her cousins wedding which she is dreading without her ex fiancé.
So she comes up with a plan!
Jack will get £10,000 if he plays along as her ex fiancé, I mean they are married and her family have never met her ex!
But they have an understanding once it's all over they will have the marriage annulled .

What could possibly go wrong!!!!!

Poor Georgie she is dreading the wedding, she is always being compared to her very successful cousin.
Everything she says and does is scrutinised by her Aunt and family.
So she can't possibly attend without her fiancé.

Georgie was my favourite character, I could sympathise with her.
Her predicament was so real, she ruled her emotions with her head and heart. Not always making the right choices.
She could do no right, everything she tried to do backfired on her.
She was always thinking of others but at the same time she was learning alot about herself.

Jack is perfect....he's a gentleman, gorgeous, everybody loves him, he oozes Charm and charisma.
What's not to love.
He was also my favourite character.
Jack supported Georgie 100% he always had her back. He had me laughing out loud. Especially when he wore a skirt to bed as he had no clothes lol
Jack was an interesting character, he had no family, and had never had or wanted a serious relationship. I really enjoyed learning about he's story.

In fact there wasn't one character I didn't like.. well maybe Georgie's Aunt as she was awfull to Georgie.
Even Dougie grew on me ( Georgie's cousins hubby to be) he was a spoilt rich kid who wanted for nothing and didn't like losing.

I especially loved the bond between Georgie and her two brothers Olly and Jacob. I loved watching Jacob grow and become confident thanks to Georgie and Olly.

Portia is fast becoming one of my favourite Authors.
She always has great relatable characters, who you grow to love. Fantastic storylines and plenty of humour, romance and friendship.

The Accidental honeymoon is a book I will be reading again and again and I'll be recommending it too all my friend and family.
It's the perfect summer read.
It's feel good, warm and made me laugh.
Perfect for readers who love Chick Lit,  Rom Com and Romance.

I can't wait for the next book

Delightfully romantic, lighthearted and charmingly entertaining!

This is an exceptionally humourous tale about the outgoing, spontaneous Georgie who suddenly finds herself heading to a family wedding with not only a fake fiancé but an unexpected groom.

The prose is playful and lively. The characters, especially Jack, are dishy, kind and easygoing. And the plot is quick-witted, funny and full of quirky mishaps, awkward moments, tricky situations, delicious chemistry, and the predictable but mandatory happy ever after we all love.

I have to admit that there’s just something about Portia’s novels that keep me coming back for more. They truly are the perfect rom-com with the right amount of laughs, appealing storylines, and endearing characters.

Thank you to Portia MacIntosh & HQ Digital for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Genre: Chick Lit

I picked up this book on a whim today and read it in one sitting- clearly, I really enjoyed it! It's been a while since I have picked up a chick lit book and once again, this book reaffirmed why I love this genre in the first place. For one, the books are light and fluffy. There isn't too much drama, and the drama that is has is well placed and adds a little pizzazz to the book. Secondly, the characters are adorable and so much fun to hang with. I love down to earth and relatable characters, and this is what you get from chick lit novels. Finally, the covers. I love a great chick lit cover, and it not only draws me to the book but also makes me excited to read it! A lot can be said for book covers as they give you a little bit of a view in terms of what you'll get in the story and that's exactly what this cover does.

With that, this is a GREAT novel. It's light, funny, and features characters that I wouldn't mind befriending had they been real. Georgie is down on her luck as she just caught her fiance cheating on her. So in order to make her night in Vegas a night to remember (or forget what the cheating bastard did to her) she befriends a man named Jack. After one too many drinks things happen though. And those things include a wedding ring, marriage licence, and a hangover from hell.

Thankfully, this little snafu had some good to it as Georgie and Jack won 20k gambling and Georgie has every intention of sharing half of it with Jack. However, he needs to do a tiny little favor for her. One that includes being her fake fiance so her family doesn't realize that man she was set to marry is a lying, cheating scumbag...

What ensues when these two embark in wedded bliss is hilarious and downright fun! Readers who like a book with a little adventure and a family that will make you thankful for your own will love this one! I am so glad I picked up my first Portia Macintosh novel and can't wait to read more by her in the near future!!

I've read The Accidental Honeymoon just at the right moment - when I needed something light - hearted and uplifting, and I know that if you're in need of those ingredients, Portia MacIntosh is your person in charge. I know that whatever she writes it's my kind of read and really, I don't need a lot of coaxing to request her books.

I bought this story as it was written. Probably some of the reviewers will stress that the accidental drunk wedding and then meeting on a plane are this tad unrealistic, but sometimes you just need this little bit of magic showing that impossible is nothing, and so I enjoyed the whole story, from the start to the finish. It was so easy to get over the slightly unrealistic beginning as it was written in such convincing way - Portia MacIntosh really knows how to pull it off.

As usually with Portia MacIntosh, her characters were brilliantly outlined. Georgie was great, however she also came across a little as a doormat, especially when it comes to being with John and the way she allowed her cousin and aunt to boss her around and decide. When Fliss told her to leave her wedding I wanted to shake - but Georgie, not Fliss. Also, her makeover confused me a little - which was Georgie's true face? The totally Stepford Wife that she had when being with John or the totally opposite, almost slutty appearance - because judging on the descriptions of hair extensions and one number smaller tight dresses it looked like this, and so it was like Georgie has hidden her real face from us. However, she was so warm and lovely and she had her heart on her sleeve, and she had one of the best one - liners and I really, truly fell for her and warmed to her actually from the very beginning. She was very accident - prone and she'll stay in my memory as the one who often meant well, with the things turning out wrong in the end.
And Jack, mmmm, I think I won't be disappointed if I accidentally married Jack myself, guys. The tricks he knew, and nonono, I mean the cards and casino tricks, not the other ones, honestly I beg you, what were you thinking about...? Absolutely loved how laid - back he was and how he treated Georgie and that he was always honest with his plans - doesn't happen often with guys that they are so honest, right? Also, and oh my god, I laughed so much, it was so nice to see how devoted he was to his newly found aunt (I really thought I will NEVER use this word in my review but here it is - it was just LOL).

The Accidental Honeymoon was an easy, quick and entertaining read, just what I expected from this author. It was lovely, it was charming, it had a great dose of humour and swear words and it just felt so natural and genuine. Nothing was pushed there, or too forced, one thing resulted from the other and I also quickly found myself rooting for the characters. Altogether, it was a read that made me smile and even laugh out loud. I totally enjoyed how Portia MacIntosh took the well established idea of the drunken wedding in Vegas and turned it into something else. There were enough turns in this light - hearted story, there were characters to die for or to slap. It was great to see how Georgie was with her family, the great relationship with her older brother and the way they treated the younger one. So really, give me Portia MacIntosh book any time, you can be sure that will lighten your mood and make you look little differently at the word. I love her stories and I can't have enough of them, and I highly recommend The Accidental Honeymoon to you!

I've had a very good time reading this book during a hot summer day.

I loved the characters, every single one is very well depicted and has a unique personality.
My favorite is our heroine,Georgie, who tries to make everyone else happy only causing more troubles and making her story even more funny.
I couldn't stop reading Georgie's journey because I was intrigued,I wanted to know how and when she would have found her happily ever after.
I would have liked a long long epilogue but my heart is still pretty content like this.

This was my first read of a Portia Macintosh story but it won't be the last because I've really enjoyed her writing.

After reading a few thrillers recently it was a welcome change to have this amusing story to delve into. A fun-filled oh my goodness what else can go wrong type of book.

Poor Georgie she really is a bit of a liability. She finds out her fiance has been cheating on her so not one to hide and mope she heads off to Vegas. Now for anyone who hasn’t been there it really does live up to it’s reputation that whatever happens in Vegas should stay there!

Georgie decides to have a drink, gamble and hang loose … what does all this result in … a marriage she has no recollection of .. whoops!

Anyway, being on a plane with your new ‘husband’ isn’t really the time to make any plans other than to follow through on her main priority .. attend her cousins wedding in the UK.

The antics her and Jack get up to are hilarious at times. Georgie is a character that I liked one minute and the next she infuriated me because if a mishap was going to happen you just knew she was involved. Jack was a swoon worthy hunk who did his utmost to blend into the family dramas and continue the charade that he was in fact Georgie’s errant fiancee and not actually her drunken ‘mistake’.

Although predictable in places this is a gem of a book for sheer entertainment value and to make you chuckle out loud. Will the family wedding go ahead without a hitch and more importantly will Georgie find her ideal man?

The Accidental Honeymoon will be a great pool-side read .. many thanks to Portia, Helena, HQ Digital/Netgalley for my copy which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

I squeezed this book in between my current readings because it promised many things I love in chicklits: Vegas wedding to a handsome stranger? Check. Pretend couple? Check. "Oh no, we have to share a bed!" trope? Check. Unfortunately it also included . Such a shame 😕

Sometimes you simply need to suspend reality just a tad, let go, and let a wonderfully sweet, feel-good story sweep you away. On first glance the idea of waking up married after a drunk night in Vegas might make me pass on a book, raise an eyebrow and think 'not for me thankyouverymuch'. Here's what I'd say..."Get over it!". Seriously, get past this plot point, trust that it really does work, and the payoff is completely there in spades.

I was totally smitten with this book, enamored with Georgie from the first chapter. Leaving her rotten scoundrel of a cheating fiancé behind Georgie heads back home to England for her cousins wedding with a quick stopover in Vegas. This trip was originally planned with her fiancé, her family finally meeting him, and now she's heading there alone. In a fit of frustration and defiance Georgie outfits herself with a new look including sexier clothes, hair extensions, the works. In this one night she meets steaming hot Jack, the anthesis of her former fiancé. Things get fuzzy from there, a lot of drinking. Georgie wakes up alone and dashes to her plane. She is shocked when Jack boards at the last minute informing her they are married. Although neither seem very thrilled about this fact they hatch a plan. Jack will come with Georgie and pose as her fiancé, with a quick return and annulment. What could possibly go wrong?!

As the story unfolds complete with family drama, old rivalries, bridezilla, new and old wounds, new and old loves, I could not put this book down. Portia MacIntosh does an amazing job crafting a story that is light, sweet, and yet surprisingly manages to engage her reader to really care about these characters. They are well crafted, have substance, depth. You understand their motivations, their fallibility, why they seem a bit broken. There are laugh out loud moments, it's never too heavy, and yet it doesn't suffer from the 'oh too light' feeling many chick-lit books fall into. It's a fine line to walk and MacIntosh does it masterfully. I'm a fan and most definitely will be looking for more of her books in the future! The Accidental Honeymoon is a wonderful escape and I highly recommend.

When I first started reading this book I thought 'yay' and then it all went downhill for me about a 1/3 of the way in the book. I didn't feel any connection with the characters at all. The banter was good but to be honest that was really all the book had going for me.
When it came down to it I was really bored with this book not saying it wasn't good but not good for me.

It was funny in a lot of places but some where it normally would be I would have thought it fell flat for me at least.

Happy Sexy Reading

This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. Ugh. What a waste

1. There were so many typos. Who proof read this thing?
2. There were too many tropes to counts. Some I liked, some I didn’t.
3. Georgie really annoyed me. She was a painful protagonist.

I'll start with the only negative I have for this book and get it out of the way; the storyline here consists of an accidental drunk wedding in Las Vegas, with the two parties waking up and not realising they have inadvertently got married. They then meet again on a flight and there follows the story of their relationship. Now those two elements of the plot alone made me think that this story would be very unrealistic, and that I might not be able to get into it.

Another sticking point is that this is the third book in just two weeks (all very recently published) that concerns the 'drunkenly getting married in Vegas' storyline. Therefore, I immediately had my reservations due to the same storyline. However, I was completely wrong, because this book is absolutely brilliant! I was quickly able to get over the slightly unrealistic storyline, because the romantic in me was swept away by the writing and the very likeable main characters.

I read this book in just two sittings, it gripped me that much. It was a lovely, charming story of romance littered with just enough humour without it coming across as slapstick, in the way that some chick lit can. I found myself rooting for the main characters and desperate to get to the end to find out whether there would be a happy ending.

This is such a feel-good novel and so easy to read. I love the writing style, and other than my initial reservations as outlined above, I have nothing but praise for The Accidental Honeymoon. I will definitely be looking out for more of Portia Macintosh work, as if they are anything like this offering, they'll be fab. A well-deserved five stars!

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins for the opportunity to review this ARC.

The Blurb :
What happens in Vegas…
When Georgie discovers that her fiancé has been cheating on her, only a few days before her cousin’s wedding, her whole world explodes. Facing a romantic trip to Vegas alone, she decides to go out and have some fun…
but Georgie never expected to wake up wed! And even worse, she can’t remember who to. So when gorgeous Jack reveals himself as her husband, she can’t believe her luck – he’ll act as the perfect wedding date!
Even if it is their very accidental honeymoon, surely the newlyweds can keep their emotions in check for just a few days more?

My Thoughts :
This is funny and just how I expect a Portia MacIntosh book to be.
Georgie ends up in Vegas alone after finding out her Fiance John had been cheating on her. They were meant to be taking a holiday together to Vegas, before attending a wedding in the UK. Georgie decided to go to Vegas anyway and gets more than she bargined for when she wakes up and finds after one night on the town she is married to the handsome Jack. Yes this is far fetched and wouldnt happen in real life but I like to think of it as magical moment, besides never say never!.
Will Jack attend Georgie's cousins wedding and pretend to be John, her Fiance or will he regret having too much to drink and marrying this stranger?. I enjoyed reading about Georgie's family and the typical goings on at a wedding. Expect some twists and turns and a lot of laughter. You will want to keep reading to the end to see if Georgie gets her own happy ever after or not?.

3.75 out of 5. The Accidental Honeymoon was fun and comical. I loved the characters and the story and the romance. I could not put this book down and thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. It was very well paced, and the romance pace was believable.

The only reason this is not a 4 or 5 star read is because I felt it missed a few opportunities to dive into relationships deeper and explore some topics even further. Overall, it was a really enjoyable read.

Three and a half stars.

So, this is a 'Married in Vegas after too much alcohol' novel, except it isn't. Yes Georgie and Jack get married after drowning each other's sorrows a little too well. But they don't wake up naked surrounded by foil packets. Georgie wakes up alone and fully dressed - yes, they didn't consummate the marriage. The next morning Georgie has to rush to catch a flight home to the UK, she doesn't even realise/ remember that she got married the night before until Jack rushes onto the plane at the last minute. He wants her to get off the plane and get an annulment but she has her cousin's wedding in Lancashire to get to.

Georgie and Jack agree a plan, Jack will pretend to be Georgie's fiancé John, who she left after she found him cheating on her, at her cousin's wedding and in return Georgie will give him half of her substantial gambling winnings. But things are never as simple as they seem. Georgie has reinvented herself several times: as a teenager; when she met John; and in Vegas but does she really know who she really is? And going back home puts her back in contact with her former boyfriend, does she want him or is he just familiar and safe.

This is very much a fish out of water novel. First, Jack as an American has his first trip to England, being introduced to an English Sunday lunch, skinheads and Blackpool. Second, Georgie coming back from a life in LA as the fiancé of a concert pianist to a lower middle class home, nouveau riche cousins and her school friends from the local council estate. This is not the England of Hugh Grant and Downtown Abbey. This is the England of sticky pub carpets, belligerent youths and Hyacinth Bucket.

I enjoyed this novel, although I felt that Portia Macintosh didn't really commit to Georgie's character, or maybe that was a symptom of Georgie changing her own identity. At the start of the novel in Vegas Georgie is a bit of a clutz but that isn't continued, similarly she has a makeover in Vegas and becomes a platinum blonde with hair extensions and buys a new, sluttier wardrobe, but although lots of people mention her appearance in the book I never really 'believed' she was walking around wearing short, tight bodycon dresses a size too small (if that makes ANY sense).

Overall, this was a lighthearted easy reading which made me smile and had a few laugh out loud moments. I enjoyed the interesting twists on what is a well established genre of drunken Vegas weddings. I haven't read any books by Portia Macintosh before but I will definitely look out for more.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

1. Why are they typos in this book? "is he actaully ill?"

2. Americans aren't sarcastic? Apparently that is very much what the author believes, given that she harped on this quite a few times. (is that really what non-Americans think?)

3. Did no one check grammar? (1) Exhibit A, I vs. me: "he'd give Jack and I a lift"; (2) Exhibit B, dangling participle: "Lounging on a blanket in the back garden, memories of long summer holidays from school come flooding back." - Really, memories are lounging on a blanket?

I've read my fair share of chick lit, but this one stands out in its poor writing.

Georgie and Jack!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍

Georgie walked in on her fiancé cheating on her with his assistant. So now she finds herself heading to a family wedding in England, via Vegas, alone. Something that she does not relish as her Mum and Aunt have forever been comparing her and her cousin Fliss, so returning home with no fiancé, no home and no job is not an option. But it seems like the only option. Until she meets Jack in Vegas, her knight in shining armour. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right? Wrong! Because after a very drunken evening together, Jack and Georgie find themselves married!

Heading off to England, Georgie decides it’s not all bad and Jack agrees to pretend to be her fiancé for the benefit of her family, before they head back to America to get the marriage annulled at the end of the week. But, a week of spending time together back in Georgie’s hometown of Blackpool, and a week of sharing bed…it’s clear that there is a spark between the newlyweds.

This book has got all of Portia’s usual winning ingredients - loveable main characters, humour, family, wittiness, romance…as always, this was such an enjoyable read. I loved Georgie and Jack and I was desperate for them to see just how good they could be together. Loved Georgie’s family - her Dad Paul was hilarious! Such a fun read to take your mind off reality, perfect escapism…what more could you want?

Gostei do livro. No entanto, adorei o final.

Em suma, este livro teve coisas que adorei e outras coisas que não gostei assim tanto, mas de um modo geral, é um livro que se lê rápido e dá para passar o tempo.

The Accidental Honeymoon - PG13
Violence: none
Language: fewer than 85, including deity and Fbombs (<20)
Sex: some descriptive kissing, fade to black sex

This was written by a British author, so I'm telling myself that the swear words aren't the same. I felt like this was like the Dermot Mulroney movie *The Wedding Date*. I will say that I spent the majority of my time reading this book with a silly grin on my face. It was very humorous.

“No matter what you do with your life, why would you not want to be loved while doing it?”

While reading this I remembered how much I like Portia MacIntosh’s books! The Accidental Honeymoon was a fun read that had me laughing out loud in parts and swooning over Jack in others. Georgie was a likable character and I found myself rooting for her in the story. Yet, I think some things were left unresolved at the end so I gave it 4 stars.

This was my first book by this author. Love British characters (eg Georgina/Georgie) and accompanying British narrators but this book still didn’t land for me. I have definitely read a number of books with similar tropes and backdrops and think this one’s writing and execution puts it toward the bottom of my book rankings.
