A lighthearted isekai tale about a fantasy pharmacist–which is soon to be an anime! (And don’t miss the manga adaptation, also from Seven Seas!)
When corporate drone Reiji wakes up in another world, he comes face-to-face with a fatally wounded werewolf. Thankfully, Reiji's new Medicine Maker skill enables him to brew uniquely effective potions. Alongside his new wolf-girl friend, Reiji and his amazing cures are ready to revolutionize this fantasy world. Be they an old man seeking the secret of youth or an elven archer with blurry vision, all comers are welcome to his countryside pharmacy.
Wow. finally FINALLY i'm able to read this volume. It's literally been 2 1/2 years since the last one was translated. I have been waiting for this to be translated for AGES and finally i'm able to get ahold of it. Was it worth the wait? Well.....yeah. i'd say it was a pretty good volume.
In this one, there's once again a lot of short vignettes ranging from him creating suntan oil to hand moisturizer, to nail polish. Once again, nothing of extreme import happens, but enough for it to be enjoyable. Having just come off the ugh that was "My friend's little sister has it in for me" it was nice to come back to a chill story where i like most of the characters.
The only thing that's making me a bit sad is the realization that the next volume, volume 8 is the series finale. It's out already, so i'll have to grab it and see how the series wraps up.
In this volume however, Reiji travels to the city and after rescuing his griffin, a new random character called Stella appears. They bring her in, in a way that one might bring in a love interest, but the problem is, this is literally book 7 and she shows up for one chapter, and there's only one more book after this. and they're not long books. So i'm not certain if the series was meant to go on longer and she was meant to develop more, or if they really just brought her in for kind of a one off? I don't know, but Stella's an odd character that i really don't know where they're going with literally a single light novel left in the entire series.
Still, that being said, everyone was in character, and even Mina was less annoying in this one as she wasn't in it as much, and when she was, she wasn't whiny or annoying. Noelle is still fun but a little airheaded, and Ejil...well..i still barely tolerate his presence.
Reiji in general is still a complete milk toast protagonist. He takes his "slow life" idea so much that any sort of strong emotions or reactions seem to be beneath him to the point that i wonder if he's on ambien or something.
All in all though, still enjoyed this volume and am excited and saddened at the prospect of reading the very final volume and wrapping up one of my favorite light novel series.
