Perfect for fans of Sarah J Maas, Jennifer L. Armentrout, Shelby Mahurin and Tricia Levenseller, An Alchemist’s Vow is the FREE prequel novella to Helen Scheuerer’s next binge-worthy romantic fantasy series.
With her death carved into a magic fate stone, Althea Zoltaire has always longed for one thing: to become a legendary warrior.
But in Thezmarr, women are forbidden to wield blades and Thea is confined to the rank of alchemist with her younger sister.
Trouble is never far though and as dark forces gather on the horizon, Thea begins to play a dangerous game of spying on training sessions and readying herself for battle, making enemies along the way.
If there’s one thing about knowing when you die, it’s that it teaches you how to live, and Thea is ready to risk everything for what she wants.
Get ready for flawed heroines, secret romance, epic worldbuilding, found family and a hint of magic to come.

I'm starting the Legends of Thezmarr series and following the emotional impact reading order which recommends starting with The Alchemist's Vow novella first.
A short and sweet novella that sparked my intrigue about the story and helped me warm up to the characters.
Now onto Blood & Steel!!
Note: you can get this novella for free by going to the author's website, you'll find the author page that has the book description and sign up to Helen's newsletter to receive the e-book via email for free.
A great, short and sweet prequel on Thea’s backstory. I really like this FMC and can’t wait to see what’s in store for her in Blood & Steel.
Note that you don’t necessarily need to read this before Blood & Steel because all the important pieces of info in this are included in Blood & Steel so it was somewhat redundant. You basically just get a bit more info on her and Evander’s relationship.
I'm reading the Legends of Thezmarr series next month and I got this cheeky novella after signing up for her newsletter and I really loved it! It introduces Thea as a character and I'm intrigued to follower her further in the main series!
Rating- 4 stars (Novella- Found on Newsletter) "A true man won't cut you down as you fight your battles, nor will he fight them for you. A true man will help sharpen your sword, guard your back and fight at your side, in the face of whatever darkness comes."
What a solid start to the series! I really enjoyed learning about the main character in her younger years. It also helped to set a scene and start a background of what is to come. It also made me wary of some characters- Barlowe I'm looking at you 👀 But it was a good way to start the series. I especially loved the qoute above. Tsk why do books make us have high expectations? After reading this novella, I'm excited to read Blood and Steel
I think this was a GREAT start to this series!!! I’m already so invested in the story of these sisters and in Thea. It’s weird because I read this so fast, and that’s just a sign that I’m gonna devour this series. The way I knew this was gonna be good from the moment they said women can’t wield blades in their land. Like oh boy don’t tempt me with a good time!!!

This was really cute and perfect to read as I start the ARC of Iron and Embers tomorrow! It was nice to see the exchange between Malik and Thea when he gifts her his dagger.
A great introduction to Legend of Thezmarr series!
In here we get to see Althea's past and what drives her to become a warrior. Most of the events here is already mentioned in Blood and Steel but wasn't in detail so in here you'll get to see it up close from Thea's POV.
It was a good prequel novella and if I haven't read legend of Thezmarr series, i would now after i read that novella!
Prequel k Blood and Steel vypadá neskutečně dobře a okamžitě mě navnadil na celou sérii. Fakt doufám, že si tu kvalitu uchová i první díl, protože MC mi byla neskutečně sympatická a styl psaní? Ano, prosím.
Good novella in general. Didn’t know it existed when I first read books 1 and 2 so it didn’t add anything new to my reading experience. However, I could see how it creates an impactful and emotional backstory for Thea.
Oooh yes YES I liked this! Also Thea & Wren’s sister relationship has me at awe 🥹 this is getting me more excited to start Blood & Steel this weekend!
I’m starting the emotional impact order and super glad to have started this novella out first as it’s a great start understanding the characters and what happened years prior!
2.5⭐ Just a short novella that gives some more detailed background on Thea. Not much happens in it's own right but it provides an intriguing set up for the main series.
