About the author

Helen Scheuerer is the fantasy author of the bestselling series, The Oremere Chronicles, the Curse of the Cyren Queen quartet and The Legends of Thezmarr. Her work has been highly praised for its strong, flawed female characters and its action-packed plots.

I'm starting the Legends of Thezmarr series and following the emotional impact reading order which recommends starting with The Alchemist's Vow novella first.

A short and sweet novella that sparked my intrigue about the story and helped me warm up to the characters.

i LOVE when novellas are like a perfect little bite of the main series.

my dear friend noemi and i are buddy reading this series, and we decided to read the books in "Emotional Impact Order". i honestly think that was the correct decision. seriously, this novella was only 5 chapters, and it's got me ravenous for the next book and worried/excited about what's to come.

also, i love love love Thea and Wren. they're now my babies.

A great, short and sweet prequel on Thea’s backstory. I really like this FMC and can’t wait to see what’s in store for her in Blood & Steel.

Note that you don’t necessarily need to read this before Blood & Steel because all the important pieces of info in this are included in Blood & Steel so it was somewhat redundant. You basically just get a bit more info on her and Evander’s relationship.

What a solid start to the series! I really enjoyed learning about the main character in her younger years. It also helped to set a scene and start a background of what is to come. It also made me wary of some characters- Barlowe I'm looking at you 👀 But it was a good way to start the series. I especially loved the qoute above. Tsk why do books make us have high expectations? After reading this novella, I'm excited to read Blood and Steel

I think this was a GREAT start to this series!!! I’m already so invested in the story of these sisters and in Thea. It’s weird because I read this so fast, and that’s just a sign that I’m gonna devour this series. The way I knew this was gonna be good from the moment they said women can’t wield blades in their land. Like oh boy don’t tempt me with a good time!!!

Yo iba con la premisa de leer el primero de la saga directamente. Sin embargo, me encontré con este relato y otra novela que ocurren cronológicamente antes. Como no puedo estarme quieta y empezarme directamente el uno me puse a buscar este relato.

No es nada del otro mundo, ya lo digo. Después de leerlo no sé si tenerlas todas conmigo de cara a la saga principal, pero no puedo opinar hasta leerla de verdad.

A great introduction to Legend of Thezmarr series!

In here we get to see Althea's past and what drives her to become a warrior.
Most of the events here is already mentioned in Blood and Steel but wasn't in detail so in here you'll get to see it up close from Thea's POV.

It was a good prequel novella and if I haven't read legend of Thezmarr series, i would now after i read that novella!
