It's easy and fun to read with some great guiding bits of advice to help at different stages. This isn't a complete step by step guide because as he mentions, every child is unique and it would be impossible to cover all aspects but I found it helpful as a baseline to understanding what might be coming my way in a few months.

A lot of the information seems to be from just his own experience, and though he mentions research, he never actually cites it. The "hacks" are more common sense and being compassionate to your spouse and child than tips and tricks for the first year of fatherhood. I would recommend Emily Oster or Adrian Kulp instead. They are more fact based and in depth with legitimate basis in their suggestions (and are pretty good reads anyway!).

Good read for first time dad

Good read for first time dad, it tells from a dad perspective and I think the work chapter really helps. Budgeting advice also useful and gets me thinking, hence going to do something about that. Would recommend for those who wants a quick read.

Nice quick read for first time dads. It's an introduction to caring for and understanding your new baby. The book has a good amount of practical advice, but nothing ground breaking. This would be a good gift for a new dad.
