The survivors have reached the end of the line…California. The No-Go Zone.

After a perilous journey across thousands of miles of enemy territory, their mission is finally coming to a close in the mutant-infested forests of the Golden State. Their desperate search for their captured people sends them to a lone prophet at the edge of the Pacific, through a heavily-fortified enclave that may or may not wish them harm, and into the fiery jaws of death itself...but all is not what it seems.

They meet up with old enemies, new friends, one they thought was dead, and one that could change the course of the war forever.

As soon as I saw that book #7 was available, I downloaded it. Let me start by saying I rarely finish a series. I can count on two hands the amount of series I have read to the end. They just don't seem to keep my attention. However, the Salvation Plague Series has had me fixed.

The zombies are not regular, humdrum zombies but different mutations or 'species' I guess you could say. That kept it interesting. They had to be killed in different ways. The threat level of each was different. It was just a refreshing take on the classic ah!-let-me-rip-your-flesh-off zombies.

The other thing that kept me reading was that the author didn't just kill off characters for no reason. That tends to happen a lot in this genre but Masters didn't do that. Characters were allowed to develop and only died when it actually made sense.

One of my favorite parts was the females were not made to be wilted flowers. That is also a problem within the genre. For some reason, women are made to be pretty, helpless pieces of zombie meat that the big he-mans of the dystopian world have to protect. Anna and Kate were badass in their own right, which was a large part of what kept me hooked.

(slight spoiler-ish)

And lastly, a character was killed off in this last book that I was so happy to see finally get what he deserved. Though, I wouldn't have minded him meeting the hogs personally.

I look forward to diving into the author's other works.

What happened with this book?!?

The first 60% of this book went along as the others of the series - action, with explanations of the overall action and some about the main characters feelings.
Then all of a sudden, it abruptly changed. Time jumped repeatedly, things wrapped up wayyy too quickly. It is almost like someone else took over and decided to wrap the entire series up in a few short chapters. Did Masters lose interest in the series? Did the publisher force a conclusion. It's rushed, awkward and unsatisfying. Which is especially annoying since until that point it had been an enjoyable series.

Invicta (The Salvation Plague Book 7)

Argh!! It's the end but it doesn't FEEL like the end. Too much happens off screen to get a good grip on how they were from actually accomplished each step. Many of them are uybrids.

There's another series after this one, The End or End of Everything.

THE SALVATION PLAGUE

I loved this series so much!! I hated to see it end to be honest. The characters were well developed, the storyline held onto me it was really hard to put down to even sleep, and it was long enough that I never felt the author was rushing to get to the end. I would highly recommend this series.

This was one of the best series I have read in a while. Loved the characters and their relationships. Their journey was something else.....pins and needles!
