An old enemy returns for vengeance, now stronger than ever. With the awakening of dark magic, the Old Ones, the creatures of the darkness which once roamed in the Seven Realms, appear once again. People are going missing and whispers about a rebellion spread all over the kingdom. And now, the Protectors are needed more than ever.
Life for eighteen-year-old Anna Clayton is simple in Aerlion, one of the realms connected to the capital city of Ardria. But everything changes when she is chosen as the new Protector of her realm. She now has to protect the realms and fight against the threats to the kingdom she despises so much. There are many things she has to do, but so little time to learn. The enemy is close now and Anna has to learn how to be a Protector before the darkness destroys the kingdom.
Wow. Just wow. This book surpassed any and all my expectations with how engrossing it was. Everything about it was so well planned. The plot twists, the pacing, the slow-burn, the world-building, all of it shaped this book into a 5 star read for me. I can’t believe the ending and can’t grasp the idea of having to wait to read book 2. This book has so much potential and any person thinking of picking it up should read it without a second of hesitation.
I want to thank Dilara Kaymak for sending me a copy of this book!
Dragons, magic kingdom, a handsome king, AND it's a standalone? Sign me in
What happens when Anna is chosen as one of the protectors of the kingdom and she's torn between serving a very handsome king and doing what she believes will help her people and family? This story was so immersive, I enjoyed it so much! I just wish it had been a series, because the plot twists, character developments and connections felt very rushed. I believe that extending this story to at least one more book would’ve helped me connect with the characters a bit more. That might be just a ‘me’ thing, though.
If you're looking for an indie YA fantasy book with plot twists at every turn, then I invite you to read this one
Firstly, thank you so much to the lovely Dilara Kaymak for sending me this book. The book cover is so beautiful and I can't wait for what she comes out with next!
My rating is 3.5 stars. I loved how the Seventh Protector reminded me of other classic fantasy books such as The Selection and A Game of Thrones. The plot was fast-paced and unpredictable. The magic system was crystal-based and intriguing to read. The world-building was also brilliant and drew me into the book instantly. If you like high fantasy politics, this book is for you!
The only area of the book I struggled with was the repetitive writing in some spots, but this is the first book from Kaymak and I believe she has so much potential to improve on what is already a fantastic base. There was a lot of description of the characters' movements, such as what their "eyes" were doing and where they were looking. Much of this could have been cut out as it felt like unnecessary filler.
First of all, thanks to Dilara for giving me the opportunity to read her book!
I am very impressed with this one. I know it is a first one from this author and i am just in awe of her writing and definitely want to read more so please, keep going with your work! I just LOOVE checking new authors out and i am always open for new ARCs so of course i have had to give this book a try!
The crystal magic system, the plot, our characters - all of it was just *chef´s kiss* and got me wanting more. This story has SO MUCH potential and i would love to see a sequel!
This book was very beautifully done and the imagery will capture you immediately. I loved the crystal magic system and how reminiscent the first few scenes were of some of my favorite reads.
I did feel like the climax of the story came a little early on, but there was enough action to keep me engaged throughout its entirety entirety. The book left off to where there could or could not be a sequel so it will be exciting to see what the author decides to do!
Slight spoilers mentions of a : a name : mentions of a few actions in the book : mention of some sub genres and scenes READ AT CAUSION
I absolutely devoured this book and I never write reviews but this book has genuinely become my favourite in less than 24hhours that I read this entire book the plot gripped me and still hasn’t let go The only way I can prove this and give this book a review is by showing you the message I sent to my bsf after I read it
I know your asleep but I need to rant abt this book I started it today right not unusual I devoureddd that book and finished today and on my merry way to the second book only to realise there wasn’t one n I was like oh it’s been out 3 yrs maybe it comes out soon so I do a little stalk find the author on tictok BRO SHE IS JUST STARTING TO WRITE IT IM GONNA HAVE TO WAIT YEARS LITERAL YEARS FOR THIS BOOK but bro this book is one of the best I have read this year and I mean that with my heart it had me right in the pages with them it was a fantasy with a slow burn romance n when I tell you slow burn all they have done in this book is hug once … on the second to last page but I don’t even care about the romance it’s the plot the hatred the love the rebellion everything it just gripped me and isn’t letting go and now I find out SHE HASNT EVEN BEGAN TO WRITE LET ALONE WROYE IT I LOVE HER AND HER WRITING BUT AM SO SAD . I am actually livid and might cry well I have cried it left us at the biggest plot twist like the point of the whole book is to defeat the dark one and it ended as the where making the final plan but this book bro the way the scene building to character development was perfection I’ve never seen anything like the author did fkn amazing it I think the beats my pirate book yk and that has been my favourite for many years
This is also no hate what so ever to this Author she did a amazing job and will remain my fave ALSO A SPECIAL MENTION TO THE WORLD BUILDING IN THIS BOOK I WAS AND ABSOLUTELY STILL AM TRAPPED WITH THEM I could feel myself slipping into the book like I was right there with them
And if that doesn’t encourage you to read this book I don’t know what will because oh my lord am I happy but so sad at the same time
I really liked this book. I had some trouble in the beginning of the book with my connection to the characters, but it got better. The first half of the book took me some time to get through, but the last half I read in a day, because then things got really exciting! The mc is very sweet but also very naive, but who wasn’t when they were 18 right? I love the world and the crystals magic!
I look forward to the sequel and hope our mc becomes a bit more mature!
No estaba entendiendo mucho de lo que estaba pasando y tampoco me estaba cayendo muy bien la principal, sabia que era el libro con rating más bajo de mi TBR pero aun asi le queria dar una oportunidad, pero desgraciada mente este no fue para mi.
2.5★| Ehhh. It was alright. I like the ml and mc. Although I thought they were too comfortable for each other when they just met. The world though. I loved it! I thought the concept was so amazing. It pulled me in from the start. Unfortunately, I never had a main character that I hated this much. Usually, the ending of fantasy books blow me away and are the reason for their rating. (even if the first half was awful) The ending of this book made the rating go down. I was hoping more from this book, as I really like the world. It kinda disappointed me.
