It’s not a winter wonderland, but the holidays are always special in small town Park Cove, Florida. This year has the chance to be even more memorable.
When a big time magazine offers an incentive of $100,000 for the most festive, best decorated store on the busy local avenue, bookstore owner Bridget Boylston is eager for the jolly task. The gleam of a potentially very merry Christmas fades quickly, though, when she finds out they have paired her with her grumpy next door shop neighbor, Theo Gardner, for the competition.
Bridget is certain their plan is heading for disaster until Theo slowly inches into her life. He takes Bridget to find the perfect Christmas trees, helps hang colorful lights, and introduces her to his daughter. And, what’s worse, he’s devastating when he smiles, showing Bridget there’s more to the Grinch than meets the eye.
As the contest heats up, so do Bridget and Theo. Their theme might be ‘Home for the Holidays,’ but along the way they learn home might be a person, too.

-strangers (ish) to friends to lovers -holiday decorating competition -single dad -small town -business owners (a bookstore!) -a spicy book club -sweet and spicy moments
This is my third book of the year, and I really loved writing Bridget and Theo. Their stores are picked to work together for a holiday decorating competition. Over time, they start to fall for each other. He lets down his walls around her, and she makes him so stinking happy. There's ice skating, hot chocolate, buying Christmas trees, Hanukkah discussion & representation (written with help of sensitivity readers), lights, reindeer, food fights, a meddling almost-teenager, handsy hayrides, therapy discussion, David Bowie tattoos, and so much more.
two stars! ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ i am…. so sad with this one 🥲 i’ve been in a huge slump for the past few weeks and i really thought this could be the book to get me out of it, but now i just don’t want to pick up another book for the rest of the year.
this had so much promise for me; i love a good small town, age gap, sunshine/grumpy, single parent romance. like those are all literally my favorite tropes. but this book just fell flat for me. i didn’t like any of the characters, besides maybe theo and mac. i didn’t like the writing, it felt like the author was trying a little too hard to be flowery and descriptive. the plot was okay, but the last like 25% was just meh. this book was kinda all over the place and to me it seemed like the author was trying to hit as many boxes as she possibly could to make it become popular, if that makes sense.
this took me a while to get through and almost put me in a reading slump but i still enjoyed it if that makes sense??? the angst between the characters was delicious but the story was a little too slow paced for me! had this book been a little more romance and less filler it would’ve been a 4 star read
This was exhausting. One of the reviews mentions this book got them in a reading slump and that they: suddenly don't feel like reading any other book for the rest of the year, and they're so right because I'm feeling the same way.
You might have seen my reading updates and thought I was enjoying it, and I was, but it got to a point where I didn't anymore. The writing was so flowery and overly descriptive (but okay, I kept going because of the premise); I ended up not caring about these characters (I was connecting with them at first but the story dragged so much that at some point I lost any feelings I had for them); the slow-burn was ridiculous (they get interrupted so many times for no reason at all that I did not end up thinking that "I need to lock them somewhere so they finally get together" but "you know what, I don't care if they do" ―and I have read and loved slow-burn romances before so the trope is not the problem here) and it has taken me so many days to get to 70% of this book because of all these reasons that I'm more annoyed than intrigued about how this one ends. I just don't care.
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Steam Level: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 (several erotic sex scenes) Trigger Warning: brief mentions of spousal and parental abandonment and a traumatic car accident
When the town of Park Cove, FL is chosen to be featured in a Travel Living magazine holiday feature, the business owners are paired up to decorate for Christmas and compete for a $100,000 grand prize. Bridget Boylston is the town's outgoing bookstore owner- baker of delicious treats and host of erotic book clubs. When she gets paired up with Theo Gardner- the grumpy hardware store owner- it seems like it will be an awkward partnership. But Bridget finds herself drawn to the tattooed single dad, and she soon learns that there's a reason for his anti-social behavior. As they spend more time together, she also realizes that there's a caring and passionate man buried underneath the serious facade. Will their partnership in the competition lead to more than just a chance at the grand prize payout?
The cover of this book called to me as soon as I saw it. I knew going in that it would be steamier than most of the books I read, but I still wanted to give it a chance. Thank goodness I did! Yes, I had to skip quite a few sex scenes, but the rest of the story melted my heart. Theo and Bridget totally won me over, and I loved the chemistry they shared. The writing reminded me a lot of B.K. Borison with cozy vibes and touching moments between the characters. Seeing Theo open up to Bridget and step out of his comfort zone made my heart so happy. There were so many beautiful parts that I highlighted as I read. Theo's daughter Mac was such a fun character, and I liked seeing Bridget interact with her. They had the sweetest friendship. And the holiday competition was set up well and provided for a found family vibe as the employees from both stores bonded throughout the planning and decorating stages. There's quite a few side characters that I could see having their own love stories featured in upcoming books. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what comes next from Chelsea Curto after enjoying this heartfelt holiday read!
“Wonderful is not a word I’ve been called before. It’s not an adjective I’d associate with myself, far brighter and cheerier than my personality allows. From Bridget, who’s sunshine incarnate and lightyears beyond wonderful herself, it’s the best compliment I could ever receive. It makes me want to be better. To smile more. To loosen the reins of rigidity and allow myself to welcome the description, trying it out for size.”
It’s the holiday season and Park Cove has been chosen for a holiday decorating competition where the first place winners will receive a hefty cash prize! The catch? Stores will be working in pairs to create the ultimate holiday display. The problem? Bridget’s bookstore is paired with Theo’s grumpy a** and his hardware store next door.
You know that warm, wonderful feeling in your chest that you get when you love a book? This book did it. THIS. BOOK. DID. IT. Such a cozy, melt your heart kind of energy that I want every read, Christmas or not, to exude. This was FULL of that energy.
Bridget and Theo's story was full of so much Christmas joy. It was also such a perfect slow burn with them getting to know each other. They went from next-door-business-neighbors, to “holy sh*t are we getting along,” to cozy friends, to MORE and it was so sweet to read their lives meld together the more they spent time with one another. They were such opposites in terms of their personalities, but it created such a perfect balance.
Aside from loving a good slow-burn, I LOVE A SINGLE PARENT IN A BOOK. Single parents in books are my kryptonite. I would literally die for Theo. HE ROMANCED THE SH*T OUT OF ME. He loved his daughter, Mac, to bits and I was 1000000% here for her and Bridget spending time together. Theo fawning over his daughter’s trust and ease with Bridget was every bit of heart-wrenching sweetness I needed.
I’m so proud of Chelsea and already can’t wait for her next romance release! She’s definitely an indie romance author to look out for. You’ll be doing your romance-loving heart the biggest favor if you decide to give her books a read because all her releases are spicy/sweet/swoon-worthy perfection.
First off, can we talk about how beautiful this cover is?! 😍 When I saw @inkandlaurel share this cover she created for Chelsea’s book, I immediately added it to my holiday TBR, and I’m glad I did. This book was such a great comfort read that had so many things going for it, many of which I list below.
I loved Theo and Bridget. I loved their story, their chemistry, their businesses, their friends, and their community.
Theo was a beautifully developed MMC. His backstory was heart-wrenching and his character arc was 👨🍳💋. But most importantly, he was thoughtful and loyal, a great dad and family man. Oh, and he reads romance books…to learn. 🤌
Bridget was independent and savvy, strong but with her emotions on her sleeve, sweet and understanding, and the perfect person for Theo. Also, if I could own any business, it would be hers…the dream!
I also loved that it was set in a small town in central Florida. I could definitely relate to the “fall/winter” weather that felt like its own character, and I found myself laughing at how it was depicted at times.
I did have a couple hangups with the pacing of the story and the relationship which felt a little long and dragged a bit for me. I love a good slow burn, but I felt like it took them too long to get there, especially since we had insight into their feelings. Maybe this is a single dad trope thing—but let me tell you when they get there… 😮💨🔥 This had elite steam that included great bedroom talk, various locations and even a prop. 🫢
This is the first in Chelsea’s new Park Cove series, and I’m excited to read the next one!
Geɴre: Romance / Holiday Trope(ѕ): Small Town Romance / Single dad / Age gap / Slow burn / Grumpy x Sunshine / Acquaintances-Friends-Lovers Sтeαм Rαтιɴɢ: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
I cannot catch a break with these Christmas romance books. I need TENSION, I need PLOT. This book unfortunately did not have that. But it did have a lot of overly descriptive paragraphs :’)
I want to be Bridget when I grow up!! She happy, sassy, not afraid to be herself regardless of what anyone thinks and she is surrounded by books everyday of her life! Then there’s the tall tatted next door shop owner….the praise…ON POINT! The slow build to these two falling for each other was freaking awesome. To the point that when the words “you’re coming to my house” came out of Theo’s mouth I was fist pumping air in my car at the bus stop waiting for my daughter. I will be running to read the next book.
As someone who only dreams of owning a bookstore one day, I loved reading about an MC who owns a cute bookshop! I adored all of the talk about books, romance, & treats 💚 Chelsea Curto is so talented and has quickly become an auto-buy author for me after only reading two of her books!
What I loved — 🎄 grumpy x sunshine 📚 alternating POV 🫶 🎄 age gap romance + single dad (I adored Theo’s daughter Mac!) 📚 allll the spice 🌶️ 🎄 an adorable rescue pup 📚 no 3rd act breakup 🙌 🎄 family dynamics 📚 Jewish representation 🎄 a fun holiday competition that brings everyone together 📚 adorable small-town setting
BOOKED FOR THE HOLIDAYS has so much to love. It’s the first in Chelsea’s Park Cove series, and now I’ll be counting down the days until Chandler + Lucas’s story ❤️
This was good but not amazing. I enjoyed that it was basically every good aesthetic scene in Gilmore Girls but smutty, but the tension just was not there for me
Kudos to the author for self-publishing! I recognize that writing a book and publishing it are no easy tasks, so I want to applaud her effort and accomplishments.
With that said, I just did not love this book - and it was a little confusing to me why not at first, so I’ll try to break it down.
What I liked: •Plot premise of a Christmas competition •Book store setting •Found family
What I didn’t: •Everything was just way too polished and almost forced-perfection. Especially the dialogue. It did not feel natural - every conversation was a Deep Moment, and that’s just not how life works. So all the dialogue felt clunky to me. •The main characters, especially Bridget, felt too perfect. I love that the author was trying to showcase the healthy habits of therapy and communication, but it came across as too contrived. •It seemed like the author was trying to do a slow-burn plot, but both main characters were obviously invested since the very beginning? And it didn’t make sense why it was dragged out like it was? •The random date that Theo went on?? That moment was especially frustrating for me.
I hate giving bad reviews of books because I know how hard authors work, and I don’t want to disparage any of that. So I’ll just leave it on this note: good for someone else; it’s just not a book for me.
A cute, bookish, holiday romance! Bridget, bookstore owner, and Theo, hardware shop owner, are paired up for the town's Christmas competition to decorate their stores to represent the holidays for a magazine and big winnings! Along the way they fall for one another. They have a strong connection, fun banter, and a delicious slow burn with sizzling chemistry. A perfect read for the holidays, or Christmas in July!

La historia es bonita, pero me ha sobrado libro. Dos pequeños negocios en un pequeño pueblo, un montón de personajes entrañables, completamente ambientado en la Navidad... dos personas que llevan tiempo viéndose y que por fin se encuentran.
My TBR had been filled with Christmas themed novels since before the season officially began. However, this title totally wasn’t on the list… I, honestly, didn’t know it existed until spotting a random post about it on Bookstagram (by a user I don’t even follow)! I’m so glad that the adorable cover caught my eye, because I couldn’t stop smiling from page one. I can easily say this falls into my top five romcoms—right up there with the forever faves from Hazelwood, Henry, and Thorne. Prepare yourself for a single sitting read through, because the sweet story and freaking swoon-worthy steam will have you hooked.
The men Chelsea writes 🤌🏼🤌🏼 this was such a good holiday read, all the Christmas vibes but spans from November through the holidays (and includes a handsy hayride, hellooo 👀) Single dad, (business) neighbors, age gap, forced proximity by being partnered in a competition together. Theo and Bridget are super adorable and perfect for each other and the inclusion of Mac was so good! Perfect combination of sweet & spicy
Ok listen, I’ve been finding some major GEMS on Kindle Unlimited lately and I truly couldn’t be happier about it. Enter: Booked for the Holidays. If you’re looking for another feel good, holiday read with some spice, this is IT.
I happened to stumble upon this one on booksta a few weeks ago and again on KU the other day. Not only did the synopsis sound perfect for right now, but it has everything in it that is RIGHT up my alley: sweet & spicy, hot single dad, strangers to friends to lovers, grumpy sunshine, age gap, overcoming personal battles. SIGN ME UP. I loved Bridget & Theo together and separately. Their banter was spot on and the way they balanced each other out as written perfectly. I envied Bridget’s maturity at times, thinking that maybe I could take some notes. And let’s talk about the true MVP here: Mac. Wise beyond her years and such a perfect sidekick for both Bridget & Theo. There were so many heart melting moments in here, but also so many that made me thirsty 😏. I’m definitely recommending this one for a feel good, spicy holiday read! 4.5 ⭐️ (rounded to 5)
It was such a confusing trope at the start - i couldn’t figure out if they were supposed to hate each other, know each other well, weird vibes.
The dialogue felt unrealistic.
The steam was CRINGE. Like I almost DNF’d at 70%. It was Tessa Bailey cringe bad.
I HATED Theo’s date. What a dick.
Theo’s random anger burst were a no for me. (I know he has a shit history etc etc but I wasn’t a fan of the on/off anger)
One part drove me absolutely INSANE and felt like a huge plot hole / like the author didn’t even know her own characters. The MC owns a bookstore - he asks her what her romance bookclub is reading so he can read it- and then says “I just ordered it” ….DUDE SHE OWNS A BOOKSTORE - you ordered it from where?! Instead of asking if she had it in stock ….?!
This book started off really strong with a great group of characters, good plot and engaging writing structure. But then after the halfway point I got bored. Bridget was a really great heroine but I felt like we didn’t get any of her backstory and didn’t learn a whole lot about her. We mainly learned about Theo (the hero) and his backstory.
Theo was a good hero but he was a bit too hot and cold for me. He has a few anger issues he needed to work out and o didn’t love the way he acted sometimes. Bridget never really stood up for herself when Theo acted like a dick and then he had the audacity to go on a date with a random women? Jail.
But I did highlight SO many relatable moments from Bridget and I felt seen in a lot of ways. Overall, a decent read.
"Love through a Lens" by Chelsea Curto is a delightful romance series that captures the magic of love and photography. The story follows Emily, a passionate photographer, who meets Daniel, a charming journalist. Their chemistry is undeniable, and their journey through stunning landscapes and heartwarming moments is beautifully written. Curto's vivid descriptions and relatable characters make it easy to get lost in the pages. The series explores themes of love, passion, and self-discovery, making it a perfect read for anyone looking for a heartfelt and engaging romance. Highly recommended for those who believe in love at first click!
It’s very cute, but it got really corny. One of my least favorite things is when dialogue is written in a way that would never ever translate to real life. Like nobody talks like that. Anyway, 3/5 I guess. Cute.
