BOOK DESCRIPTION

On a calm night in the Spanish countryside, Eleonor’s life turned upside down when her own Coven betrays her, and everything she knew has been burned. She was forced to watch as humans murdered the love of her life, Max.

Eleonor has walked the earth for over three centuries without her love, and the time has weathered her heart to stone. Without Max, she is broken. Just a shell of the human she once was. New York City is nothing like the Spanish countryside she once knew and loved, but it is a steady hunting ground for her to feed. And it’s where she meets Julian.

There’s something familiar about him that she can’t quite place. Something unspoken. The more time she spends with him, and the more he helps her with her pursuit of revenge upon those who killed Max, the closer she gets to discovering secrets long lost to vampire kind. There is more than just one soul in his human body. Together, they dive deeper and return to the place where it all began. The place where the real threats still linger.

Will Eleonor find the answers she’s looking for, or will she find more than she ever bargained for?

*I received an e-book from the author for review. All thoughts are my own.*

A friend convinced me to read The Fate of Eleonor, so I went in not knowing exactly what to expect, other than vampires and some romance. I felt that it was much more than that, and I’m so glad I gave it a shot, as I absolutely loved it! I haven’t read a vampire book in some time, and it made me realize just how much I miss them! I can’t believe that this is the author’s debut, as it was that incredible to me. I was drawn into the story from the first page, and I didn’t want to put it down. If you like a paranormal romance, that’s steamy and mysterious, this one is for you!

Eleonor’s life is completely torn apart one quiet night in the Spanish countryside. Her own Coven betrays her, and everything she knew has been burned. She is forced to watch as humans murder the love of her life, Max.

Fast forward, and Eleonor, or “Ellie” has now walked the earth for three centuries without her love. Without Max, she feels completely broken and just the shell of who she was once was. She has been seeking anything over the years to end her suffering. New York City is nothing compared to the beautiful Spanish countryside she once adored, but it is a good place for her to feed. It’s also where she meets Julian, with whom she feels a connection.

As Ellie spends more time with Julian, he begins to help her with her plans for revenge against her former Coven. Will she get more than she bargained for?

I loved spending time with these characters, and I am excited to read more by this author. This was a story about love and loss, and the power of hope, and I highly, highly recommend. The prequel The Coven Guard will be releasing next month, and I can’t wait!

This book gives me Discovery of Witches and Invisible Life of Addie LaRue vibes, but with vampires. This book had me hooked from the very beginning and has left me wanting to know what happens next. The writing and the story is intriguing and I enjoyed every moment of it.

Dark and steamy, this paranormal romance has an interesting premise with a unique twist on vampires. I don't want to give away anything too specific because it would spoil some of the crucial discoveries Eleonor "Ellie" makes along her journey, but this fantasy has elements of vampire lore, alchemy, and second chances.

Opening by dropping you right in the middle of centuries-old Eleonor's most devastating moment, we see what that heartbreak does to her. Then, she goes through centuries searching for a chance for either vengeance or death, anything to end her suffering. But the story weaves its way into becoming about Eleonor finding her way forward, reclaiming love, and, ultimately, her hope.

This is the author's first published novel, but a sequel is in the works!

Thank you to the author E.B. Borbon and Asturian House Press for my gifted review copy.

A solid 5 star, I don't even have to think twice!
I haven't read a vampire book in ages, and this was just what I needed to bring me back. The writing style, the plot, the characters, everything was perfect 😍 I also can't believe that this is E.B. Borbon's debut novel. If the first is this good, I can't wait to read more!
Eleonor's story made me so sad even though I haven't been through anything close to what she went through (thankfully). I am so happy with how her story ended because she deserves the best and deserves to be with Julian after all this time.
Oh, and Julian is 😍😍😍

I loved this book! It was well written and easy to read. You'll find yourself sucked in to the story and unable to put it down. Who doesn't love a vampire love story?! The descriptions of characters and settings make it easy to picture the story as you read. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. I highly recommend this book.

SPOILER: There are sex scenes described. Please remember what I said about how well the author provides descriptions.

Happy reading friends!!

I have read a few vampire books in my day but this one was very unique!! I really liked this story as it was so different from your normal vampire love story.

Ellie/Eleonor was such a likable character and even though she was a vampire she was very human in ways that you could relate to. I wanted her get her HEA after what she went through. Now let’s talk about Max/Julian a bit without spoiling. This concept is soo intriguing to me as I’ve been interested in it in the past. I won’t say what the concept is but it was very well written in my opinion. You will just have to read it to find out!

Overall I really enjoyed reading this book! This is his first book and I think he did a great job! I can’t wait to read the sequel. Thank you so much to E.B Borbon and Asturian House press for this Arc copy in exchange for a review!

Holy cow! I wasn't expecting to enjoy this one as much as I did! It's been a while since I read a vampire based book but this one exceeded expectations!

From the very get go I was hooked, I needed to know more and damn the story just got better and better.

I really felt Eleanor's pain and loved watched her journey through her life of acceptance and coming to terms with the grief she felt and the trauma she endured.

I cannot to see what happens next with this story!

I definitely went into this one blind! A friend reached out and asked if I’d be interested in reading an ARC for next week, I said “hell yeah”, I was sent book 1 so that I wouldn’t be confused for book 2’s release next week, and here we are!

I’m still newer to fantasy, so I think that’s why I struggled with this one a bit. This follows Eleonor, who’s a 300 year old vampire, who’s love of her life was murdered 200 years prior. Now, in present day, she’s living in New York and finds herself drawn to a human - in a way she’s never been before.

So it’s a fantasy (maybe more sci-fi because vampire) romance, and it definitely had a lot a going on. The story was thick, the plot was there, and overall, I was thoroughly impressed. Even the spice was fantastic (and ya know, it surprised me because it’s a male author). But I’m here for it and can’t wait to read what the next book holds.

Again, thank you to D, E.B. Borbon, and Asturian House Press for the free copy and I can’t wait for book 2 to come out next week!

What an absolutely fantastic book!

This story contains characters you can’t help but live, sucks you in so that you feel like you’re in it, and will addle your brain in the best possible way!

The story had me riveted; and was full of romance, paranormal elements, and mystery. Eleanor’s journey through all of this was complicated, and her character growth was emphasized. Her love story was tragic, beautiful and hard won.

The main theme of this story was hope, and it’s really highlighted in every facet of Eleanor’s journey.

Moreover, the twists and turns were unexpected and an utter delight.

This story is a must read! It’s unique and enthralling, and I loved the author’s style.

I am so excited to read the Coven Guard, the prequel to Fate of Eleanor, when it becomes available!

I give this book a rating of 5/5 stars! The character development was amazing! I loved all the action in the book especially in the beginning with the coven chasing Eleanor and Max and shooting them with arrows! The more I read the more I couldn't put my device down! If you're into stories with vampires, romance, and adventure this book is definitely for you and worth the read!

*I received a copy of this book from the author, which in no way sways my review. Thank you so much for the copy E.B. Borbón*

This was an entertaining read. Started out great, though it waned a bit for me as it progressed.

Here are a bunch of the strong impressions I had:
1. Captivating intro! I mean, the main character is running for her life. Who wouldn't be hooked with that?

2. The main character seems to be just very bored, lonely, and depressed.
3. It kind of reminds me of The Invisible Life of Addie Larue by VE Schwab (in a sense of being alone and drifting for hundreds of years);
4. As well as Fallen by Lauren Kate (with the way the characters are instantly drawn together - spoiler - because they are reincarnated fated mates)

5. This touched on the more modern take on Vampires, which I prefer more than the classical take of them. The type that are more resilient and not as easily killed.

7. The writing in the beginning seems contradictory or at least VERY obviously pointing out that ____ is not usually done by the main character. Examples below.

"A bubble of amusement forced a thin smile onto her lips. She rarely smiled anymore"

"she always felt a bit nervous around him. Nobody made her nervous, not anymore."

"To be fair, she would never do anything to ruin a book, even if it wasn’t what she was looking for. Her years of research had taught her the value of every text, regardless of its content."

...But a chapter earlier, she was throwing books:

"She threw [the book] aside with more force than necessary... She tossed aside the book, and it landed with a softer thump than the previous one... She shut the book and dropped it again."

"she wondered again why she'd agreed to come. It was out of character for her."

8. Another thought I had was I, as a reader, barely got to know Julian. It seems to me that Julian was always being compared to Max, and that made me sad. Even though in the end he turns out to actually be Max (which I don't think justifies Ellie's comparison before she knew he was Max), it still irked me that Ellie compared him all the time! It made it seem like Julian is more like a rebound guy than a long lost epic love.

"there was something of Max in Julian’s calm mannerisms. For instance, he had risen just as Max had the first time they’d met, allowing her to sit before he sat again."

"Hope dies last. Some of the last words Max had ever said to her." - which Julian just used.

"Max had loved her hair, too."

"Besides Max, who had read her like an open book, Julian was the only other person that could read her so well."

"Max had always pushed her to feed when he noticed signs of hunger. The way Julian wanted to take care of her reminded her of her Max."

"The small smile [Julian] gave her was so similar to one Max used to shoot her in their private moments that she froze for a second."

"she wondered how she'd ever missed the similarities between him and Max." (Oh really?)

...EVEN DURING S*X, which was kind of cringy:

"There was a desire in his eyes that mirrored that of Max's, and for half a second, she saw Max standing before her, not Julian."

"He caressed her flesh before settling between her thighs and kissing her everywhere but where she really wanted. Ellie groaned in appreciation, remembering how Max used to do the same thing."

"Julian pinched with his teeth, just hard enough to mix pleasure and pain together. It was something that only Max had ever done to her"

...all of which might just be a massive foreshadowing of the reincarnation. And then when she was finally convince that Julian is Max reincarnate, this was where I lost all relatability with Ellie.

"After her careful observations, she was convinced that Julian was really Max."

"This was about bringing Max back. He'd understand her little manipulation."

"she realized Julian was becoming more and more distressed and confused whenever she confronted him with something Max did that he also did."

"Julian's affection for her was lovely, but it wasn't the wild love she'd shared with Max."

After Ellie's efforts succeeded in bringing Max back, Max/Julian felt like he just disappeared beneath the image of an overworked alchemist lover trying to find a cure. Julian went from an easy smile optimist to a desperate lover.

9. I also wished there was more supporting characters. The minor characters seemed to just show up when needed or just as a passing mention in a memory or feelings of Ellie.

10. The book that Ellie wanted so badly in the beginning, which seemed to be the only thing that kept the plot moving, became barely relevant after she received it. It seems that it was only written in so that the main character would have a motive and be 'forced' to socialize with Julian in the beginning. It was basically just a MacGuffin.

Overall, it was entertaining and still a pretty easy read. The plot didn't feel slow to me. The characters incited different emotions in me, which I prefer rather than feeling like I'm just an observer. The spicy scenes were pretty good (disregarding the Max-Julian comparison). I also like how it was a little bit of HEA and open-ended as the first book of the series.

Tropes include:
Instant crush
Fated mates
Surprise pregnancy
Happily Ever After

Triggers I found: suicide ideation and attempts, murder, kidnapping, experimentations without consent

First off I want to thank @e.b.borbon for my free copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book made me fall back in love with paranormal romance. Why had I stopped ? I don't know but I was missing out truly. This book satisfied my hunger. It was amazing.

I read the first page and I was hooked, absorbed into the life of Eleonor, I desperately needed to know what happened, what will happen. Also, those romantic scenes were definitely hot but did not overpower the plot.

This was a very well written novel, and I cannot believe this is the authors debut. The writing is engaging, flows easily, beautiful and descriptive. The characters he created are simply gorgeous with amazing life values, which I think made me love the story even more.

The ending perfectly wrapped up this beautiful, dark, hopeful, romantic, mysterious, suspenseful love story. These characters will stay for me long after the last page.

If you're looking for a dark, mysterious, steamy, hopeful, beautiful paranormal romance do yourself a favor and pick this one up !

"Hope dies last"
What a journey this book took me on. We meet Ellie who has lived in the shadows for centuries. She's grief stricken and determined to finally figure out a way to either exact her revenge, or just end it all. Until, a book changes her life (which, really, isn't that all of us?)

I really liked this story. Ellie was a complex character and I felt for her sometimes and wanted to shake her other times. She's tough but also has a lot of emotions. Please keep in mind this is a darker read - all the general vampire trigger warnings (blood, death, suicidal ideation)

Thank you to E.B Borbon for providing me with a copy of this e-book in exchange for my review. I'm excited for Book 2 in February!

I love the story I love the couple. I wish it was just a little bit more descriptive in the sense of like a relationship but I also like how fast it is so usually it's either one or the other.

One of my favorite adult paranormal romances yet! I highly recommend this book. This book was beautifully written. It had everything I was looking for in a paranormal adult dark romance. There was a well rounded balance of steam, suspense, and a breathtaking romance. I fell in love with the main character. The author did such an amazing job with developing the main character. I felt as if I could feel Ellie's emotions and connect with her by how well the author brought his characters to life. Not only did I love Ellie, but I loved Julian. These characters were beautifully written and I felt connected to them throughout the entire way of the story. The descriptions and attention to detail were absolutely on point. I felt like I was in the story the entire time. The plot and story line were unlike anything I have read. I loved the concept and I was addicted to this story. I couldn't put the book down. I read this story in a matter of a few days and am looking forward to future books written by this author. This by far was one of my favorite books that I have read.

"Hope Dies Last." Such a beautiful statement by the author. Just hearing the quote brings me right back into the the story of the character's swoon worthy romance, but also the struggles these characters had to face in order to be with one another.

If I could rate this book higher than five stars I would in a heart beat!

Let’s be honest, if it is about vampires, I will read it. This was a really good story that had some fresh elements that I really enjoyed. I enjoyed that the end goal changed a couple times throughout the book, evolving as the storyline did. It was entertaining, and about a billion times better than Twilight. It did have some smutty scenes that were well written, so be prepared for a little spice when you read this. If you like paranormal books, you should check this one out.

Eleonor is a vampire that only got to spend 100 years with her love before he was murdered. She has been spending the last 200 years depressed and trying to figure out ways to end her life so she didn’t have to live without him. Unfortunately vampires are hard wired to save themselves, and she can’t seem to find the one book that has answers for her. At a rare book shop, she happens across a young man would says he has a collection of books that she might be interested in. And for the first time in 200 years she is interested in a male, and she says yes to coffee.

The Fate of Eleonor was a fantastic debut novel by E.B. Borbon! Honestly this is my first vampire novel I've read and it did not disappoint. There were some aspects that reminded me of Twilight and Vampire Diaries, but that's a given for anything vampire related. However, this story was different than I expected! There were a few spicy scenes that weren't super long or incredibly detailed, but still spicy nonetheless. I fell in love with Eleonor and Julian! I can't wait to read The Coven Guard that is coming out very soon!

An interesting take on the vampire romance, this book is a mix or classic lore with unusual twists. Think Anne Rice meets Christine Feehan. The protagonist is conflicted about her life as a vampire and is heartbroken over the loss of her love centuries earlier when she meets a human man who might hold some of the answers to her grief. I won’t add much more to avoid spoilers. There are a few spicier scenes sprinkled throughout. If you are looking for a new vampire romance, this one might be for you!

I went into this book blind and not sure how to feel about it - I've read a lot of vampire books and this one was completely different but I LOVED it. I immediately fell in love with the MC and wanted her to have a happy ending! This is a second chance love story that comes in a way that you never expect. I wasn't sure how I felt about Julian for a while (he felt so needy but eventually you figure out why!). There is some spice - well written - and lots of tender love moments.
It definitely sucks you in and you have to know how it ends! I CAN NOT wait for the second book!

Massive thank you to the author for providing me a copy of this book for review.

I really enjoyed this book. There was enough of a plot to keep you interested and reading but it wasn't so fast paced that you felt like you needed to take notes to keep up. The characters were likeable and had a few layers below the surface which I liked. I'm also a massive sucker for a book about books or with characters that love books so that was a big plus for me. I kinda wished we'd seen more of the coven and how they fit into the story, but I'm also glad we didn't for Eleonor's sake. I especially liked the ending, I really like a nice tidy ending. Oh and the sprinkling of smut was perfect, just the right amount with sufficient detail but not over the top or constant.

Overall, this was good and I will recommend this to friends who are fans of vampire stories.

The fate of Eleonor
I knew I wanted to read this book since it had some of the things I enjoyed most: romance and vampires but it was so much more and I really loved it from the beginning even though it made me cry from the first few pages. Following the author on social media at some point, I saw a post he made where he said "I only wanted to show, if a vampire can display or feel love, fear, insecurity, anger, joy, have empathy..they are more human-like than we portray them to be in stories. They are not "evil" but rather another creature here on earth that has evil among them, just as we classify some humans as evil." And I think he did that very well, especially with Eleonor.
As I said before this book pulled me in from the first pages jumping right into the action and had me rooting for Eleonor and Max. The story starts on a quiet night with them on the run from hunters trying to get to their coven where they would be safe only to find out they were betrayed by that same coven and also by a very important person to Eleonor. Eleonor and her partner Max are caught by the hunters as a result of their covens betrayal and Eleonor finds herself promising to Max that at the first chance, she will escape by Max's wishes even if that meant leaving him behind. The moment shows itself but not before Eleonor witnesses the hunters murdering Max.
After 300 years of walking the earth without her love, Eleonor is still looking for a specific book that would help her either leave this earth or get revenge on everyone that betrayed them. But then she meets Julian, a shy, golden retriever of a man who helps her look for that book and she finds herself finally opening her heart again which leads to her getting her hands on the book she searched for centuries only to now look for other books that would help solve the new mystery that found a place in her life.

Thank you to the author for a free copy in exchange for a review!

Eleonor is a vampire who has lived the last 300 years without the love of her life Max. Betrayed by her own Coven, Max, a fellow vampire was murdered. Human vampire hunters slayed her lover with the help from her coven. Eleonor survived, but she was never the same. Now she roams New York wanting revenge. Soon, she meets Julian, who wishes to help in her pursuit for vengeance. Together they will find secrets that were long since thought, lost and find that maybe they get more than they bargain for.

Overall I would give this book 3 out of 5 stars. The premise was interesting, and the read was at times entertaining. But, I feel that the rush of the relationship between Eleonor and Julian was too fast. I felt that we were supposed to just feel like weeks went by and they had “moments” together, but we really rarely saw that. I think it would have been beneficial to see the two of them become close and feel the internal struggle that Eleonor would have felt having to sort of choose to move on from Max.

I did like the way vampires were written into the book, and I liked the idea of Covens. However, we only ever came across 2 vampires in the entire book and they were very short chapters where they were involved with the main character. I wish there had been a moment where Eleonor and Julian (aka Max) had come across Eleonor’s father and gotten their revenge. But, we don’t see them in the book.

The book is entertaining and not slow paced, however I wish there had been a little more depth and more involvement with the Coven and revenge. Overall a good book, thank you once again to the author for the free copy in exchange for a review.

📔The Fate of Eleonor by E.B. Borbon
⭐️ ⭐⭐️️ ⭐/5
🌶🌶/ 5

📑SYNOPSIS:
On a calm night in the Spanish countryside, Eleonor’s life turned upside down when her own Coven betrays her, and everything she knew has been burned. She was forced to watch as humans murdered the love of her life, Max.

✏️MY THOUGHTS:
First, I would like to thank the author for my free copy in exchange for an honest review.

I went into this novel blind, just knowing that there will be spice and vampires :) From the first scene, this book hooked me. The book starts with a tragic, mysterious scene and my heart broke for Eleonor and Max. I was dying to find out more about what truly happened that night and who really betrayed them.

The writing is beautiful, and I was impressed to find out that this was the writer's debut novel. This novel is different from the usual vampire books, as Ellie/Eleonor is conflicted about being a vampire (she was turned against her wishes), and after the devastating loss of Max is trying to find a way to end her suffering.

The novel is character-driven, as we follow Ellie on her journey of hope, love, and forgiveness.

This book is a bit of a change of pace to other vampire books I've read recently, and honestly, it was a refreshing change that I thoroughly enjoyed reading.

The story covers Eleonor's (later: Ellie's) journey from the Spanish countryside to New York over 300 years. After losing the love of her life and the trauma of that experience, she spends her time tracking down books that will help her die. Until, that is, she runs into someone who reminds her so much of her past love that it gets put on hold as she explores what, and who, this man is.

The writing in this book is superb. The prose is fluid and the images it concocted were vivid. I loved watching Ellie's journey as she grew from the tired vampire seeking an end to someone who savoured the things around her; to someone who began to accept and embrace hope.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys vampires, books (including a gorgeous library!) and long-lost romance all wrapped up in beautiful words.

✎ Review:
I was sent a copy of this book by the author and his team. All thoughts are my own!

I find alchemy and reincarnation very fascinating topics so that was interesting to read about! I would have loved to know a little more about it.

I found this book a little hard to get into, something didn’t click for me. I have not read many books about vampires. Maybe that’s why, I don’t know. Sometimes it felt like the story wasn’t going forward in the way I wanted it to.

I liked the aspects of feeding in the book, how you could see glimpses of the life the human lived! I also enjoyed the different rules in this world when it comes to vampires. It was a little bit different.

All in all this was a good book. Maybe not my cup of tea, but it was alright.

What a GREAT story. I went in blind on this (as I usually do) and only knew it was about vampires. WOW! This story did not disappoint.
I would say this is 4.5🌟 🌶️🌶️ but we can’t do 1/2 stars here.

Eleonor and Max, both vampires, were madly in love with one another. After Max was taken from her by those she trusted, Eleonor was left to walk the earth without him; forced to face eternity all alone and grief stricken. That is, until she meets Julian. Julian and Max have so many things in common that Eleonor feels there must be more to this. Could Julian really be Max? It all seems so impossible until she learns the truth.

I love any book with vampires- I just can’t help myself. I loved the beautiful love story that was written about Eleonor and Max and I could feel her heartache for her long lost love. The connection between Eleonor when she met Julian was palpable and I was so invested in their story and newfound love in one another.
I did find the book to jump around a bit in the middle and I had a hard time knowing if it was Max or Julian in the storyline and what century we were in- it quickly sorted itself out though.
I am really excited to read The Coven Guard (book 2 of the series).

This was one of the best paranormal romances I've read to date. The story of Eleonor and her life was so gripping and the addition of Julian sent things to a whole new level. The romance was beautiful and wonderfully heartbreaking at times. The inner thoughts of Eleonor make you feel as if you are right there watching the story unfold.

It had the perfect mix of romance, spice, and suspense. The characters were so well written, I found myself connecting with both Ellie and Julian right from the beginning. I can still feel the warmth this story left in my chest as I read the last page.

Highly recommend for anyone interested in paranormal romances.
