Eat. Sleep. Alpha.
That's what I know.
I learned to rule my pack with an Iron fist the day my sister went missing.
I left no room for errors.
Then she walked into my life.
Harley Rayne.
A fiery-tempered raven with a head of dark hair and eyes I could drown within.
I never expected her to tear apart my world.
I also never expected her to tell me she could see dead people and that my sister was one of them.

Harley

I've always been the strange girl. The one others could do without.
I liked it that way.
Because I was strange, a weird chick with odd abilities.
I could see dead people and that often gave people the willies.
But I had a vow, I swore to protect.
I'd always help a lost spirit.
I had a rule too, never contact the family directly.
All until the Silver Creek Pack.
All until him.
I break all of my rules and in return, Axton Silverton breaks me.

I hate this book. I wish it had never been written. I want to destroy every single copy. I want the author to suffer nightmares and bedbugs for eternity. I want to bleach my mind and make it so it never existed to me.

I have NEVER read a more vile and disgusting MMC in my life. Condoned domestic violence? Check. Mental, emotional, and physical abuse? Check. The absolute misery that this MMC puts FMC through while thinking he’s treating her right is disgusting. I could understand if FMC had stood up for herself…if the author had written this like what he was doing was wrong…if it was written as an enemies-to-lovers or as a bully romance. But no. This is a fated mate romance novel, not rejected mate, not bully, not enemies-to-lovers.

The fact the SHE apologizes to him after he hurts her is traumatizing to me. I’m literally sick. There is no redemption here.

MMC tries to ‘court’ her while physically and emotionally torturing FMC whenever he gets overwhelmed or when she says something he doesn’t like. He tries to earn her love, WHILE ALSO SAYING THAT HE WILL MATE HER BY FORCE IF SHE DOESN’T AGREE TO BE HIS!! That’s rape. It’s not sexy. There is absolutely nothing redeemable about this miserable parasite who is a poor excuse for a man and an even more foul excuse of an Alpha.

There is no forgiveness for this MMC, and the only way I would have finished the book was if he ended up being burned at the stake.

DNF- this book was a word vomit, which made it hard to follow. The author had good storyline, she just needed to rein in her descriptions.

Spirit Walker

Wow. This story had me hooked from the very beginning, not chapters into it, but from the first page. The fmc Harley is a freaking bad @$& chick. I absolutely loved her character. Her journey in this story is a tough one. She's able to see ghosts and help them find closure to move on. This particular ghost that came to her most recently experienced some horrible tragic things. So be ready with your tissues, you'll be needing them. There's also some really great moments, so there will also be some happy tears if you're emotional like me, lol. Axton and his pack are awesome. They mess up a little bit in the beginning, but once things progress a little bit, you get to see how sweet they are and how far they will go to protect one another. The last few chapters hit me right in my feels, and I can't wait for what happens in the next book. Hopefully, there will be a ton of karma for those who deserve it and good things for Harley, Axton, and the rest of their pack. Highly recommend reading their story.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Well that was a ride and a half, and oh boy I need more of this pack.

Harley likes to fight, and she can see the dead. Axton is an alpha, and reckless in life.

When Harley is shown the torture sustained by a new spirit she has to seek out the family to help them through it, it’s what she does. But this particular family is different than the rest and they do not take to her well.

A new take on shifters, and other abilities. Lots of twists and turns to keep you on your toes.

This was the first book in the Silver Creek Pack series and I was in for a ride. Started off with a bang meeting Harley, who’s this badass HUMAN who sees spirits while fighting off 7 ft shifters. If that isn’t badass then idk who is. Right from the get-go, you learn more and more about Harley and how much she has gone through to get where she is. I know this is only the first book but ahhh so many questions about Harley 😭

Then you meet Axton, the alpha of the Silver Creek Pack and he puts the capital A on alpha. Axton and Harley are immediate infernos and I just kept wanting more and more of them. I just wanted to say that although it didn’t happen, Axton def earned some ball-beating ☹️

I really loved this book. Had a lot of tropes I look for like fated mates and found family.

Reading this, I knew there was going to be a cliffhanger tho and yet I still ate this book up in a day 😭 it was so good. I thought I was out of my shifter romance mood but I think this put me back on it.

This book is a ride!!! I was hooked from the very beginning and need more of the series soon (please!!)

Harley has walls up in order to protect her from those who’ve hurt her over the years. She’s been alone for so long that she doesn’t know if she can risk trusting people. After an encounter with Avery she knows she has to try.

Axton has been looking for his sister for 11 years, as has his pack. He meets his mate in Harley, but doesn’t want to force her into something doesn’t fully want.

The pack is full of amazing characters and I’m hoping we get some side stories for them. I love when supporting characters steal the show here and there. Whatever you do, don’t skip this one. It’s amazing.

FOR-A-FULL-REVIEW-VISIT

MY RATING: 3.5*
RELEASE DATE: 26 December 2022
CLIFFHANGER: Yes

Some gifts can turn out to be curses. Too heavy a burden to carry yet for the greater good. But when does one walk away from their gift for the sake of self-preservation? Harley is everything you want in a heroine. Fierce, strong, yet weighed down by the trials and tribulations.

Saddled with abandonment issues, self-consciousness our girl sees ghosts…literally. When her latest client sets her on a path of revenge, the last thing she expect is a man who sets her body and soul on fire. One who claims to be her other half. A man weighed down by grief, self-loathing and regret over the loss of her sister.

While the mating bond is forcing them together, there is far too much that’s happened in their lives that makes them weary of each other, but will they succumb, or will they fight against in to keep their hearts safe and save themselves from disappointment?

I really enjoyed the concept of this book. If I could rate it on concept originality alone, I’d give it a 5*. It’s different and not in a bad way from your typical alpha, fated mate romances. And I read a lot of shifter romance and wolf shifters are my absolute favourite. However, I didn’t rate it 5* for several reasons, but mainly;

1. There are so many questions about Harley and there isn’t enough of her backstory to explain her character. Her parents show up and effectively disappear in the story and take very well their daughter’s choice of a life partner; which I found unconvincing
2. There was so much going on and many characters too that I lost track of some of them in the story
3. I did not care for the time jumps. They were too abrupt. At the end of a chapter something happens and the next chapter it’s been 2 months and then the tone of the story goes retrospective. I didn’t like that at all. Left me feeling like I missed something.
4. Lasty; for the sake of the word count, the author could benefit from better editing team. There were some parts of the story, around the 15% of the story that were just fillers to me and I thought served no purpose at all. Just made the story longer than necessary

Having said, I think this author is one to watch. As a new chick in the game, she has some serious writing chops and I look forward to her new work and I hope the other wolves get their books too. I look forward to the rest of the series.

Toxic disaster

This was a disaster and probably the epitome of shitty indie writing.

The sad thing is that the plot had a lot of potential. Beta readers, respected beta readers, if an editor was off the table, should have been employed here.

The first thing I noticed was that it took five chapters to get through a five sentence interchange between the main characters. This short conversation was broken up by an abundance of ridiculous inner monologue and bizarre metaphors that ultimately meant nothing. Wynters was very fond of meaningless metaphors.

Worse, Wynters does not know her way around the English language. Tenses were all over the damn place. "Never" was used far too often and usually incorrectly. It is not always substitutable for "didn't." To and too are also not interchangeable. They mean different things. As the book progressed, spelling and grammatical errors became increasingly frequent.

The relationship between Harley and Axton was very toxic. The chemistry was forced, and the bond was disrespected by how they both behaved with each other. Axton was awful. Even the moments where Wynters tried to redeem him, he just came across as selfish and needing to use Harley rather than care for her at all.
They were not good together. You can't just tell readers that they are while showing them that they're not. But this is where this book is as it stands.

Harley had the potential to be a great character. She's badass right up until she isn't. Then she's just reckless without any sense.

All attempts for deep connection fell flat because Harley spends too much time contradicting herself. She thinks in circles but is always at odds with her own thoughts with her actions.

And by 80%, the pacing had slowed so much, and the plot was lost that I completely lost interest in where the story was going. I skimmed it to the end after that. I'm not bothered to read further, but honestly, even if it was decent, I wouldn't bother just because of the editing - or lack of, as it happens.

I do not recommend wasting your time with this disaster.

The storyline is good. The world building, character development, all good. I'm hooked, and will finish the book. But I am irritated enough to put the back down and come write this review in the middle of the read. Why?

For the love of all that is holy, what did you do with the editing on this?! I can take misspellings and poor grammar better than I can the obvious mistakes made by an auto-editor. Combine that with the obscene overuse of flowery, stilted prose, and there are numerous cringeworthy moments. Long, drawn out emotive passages are followed by clunky, broken sentence fragments. See examples below. (Note: There are NO typos in these passages. This is what's on offer)

"He snatched my wrist and held my flat palm over his throat"

"They'd be no place of her left untouched, unravaged, and unworshipped in my savage vow written in the lining of her womb"

"I craved to know the nightmare that stormed into my life before I stormed into hers and f*cking consumed her"

"I convulsed, desperate to try and break free only to find that I was strapped to a table. In the center of an abyss with no light in sight, I drowned in the darkness. The quiet, white noise contorted into a buzz in the bleak bowel I was lost within. It radiated over my flesh like a delicate vibration. I jolted again, my blood boiled like molten lava"

"Relishing in the taste of copper as my lips colored red, I bled for him. Savoring the sweetest taste of my devil's delights. My guilty pleasure"

"Impressive but not intimating like I was sure he'd aimed to be. I forgot to mention I was kind of dead with my emotions and not much rattled me"

The writing is driving me batty, but I do really want to finish the plot.

****UPDATE****

Eeeep! Changed my mind! DNF'ing this. I cannot.

Why?

Spirit Walker grabs hold of you on the first page and doesn't let go... even after you're done reading it. The world that Emmaleigh created in Silver Creek is amazing - the descriptive narrative pulls you into the story of Harley, Axton and his pack. Your heart breaks for everything these characters have been through in the lives.

Harley has been considered a freak her entire life, walking the thin line between life and death. So at a young age she chose to live a life of solitude to prevent more rejection and heartbreak. Meanwhile, Axton is the Alpha of his pack and is drowning in guilt and heartbreak. When their worlds collide nothing will ever be the same. The mating pull is unlike anything either of them have felt before. Throw in not knowing each other, uncovering the truth from Axton's past, Harley learning what it means to be accepted and we have a rollercoaster of emotions packed into this dark, gritty book.

I wanted to hurry through to find out what happens but also take my time to really appreciate these characters. I cannot recommend this book enough and I will be in pins and needles waiting for Sawyer's story.

Harley can see the dead and has a rule to never contact the family directly of those she sees. Until she meets one spirit who shows her the torture endured and all but forces her to find her pack. Here she meets Axton, an alpha who runs his pack with tight rules ever since his sister went missing. Now truths are coming out and Axton and Harley may break the rules they set for each other.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. I've read so many books that cycle around alphas and pack mentality that they've become boring. This one was a lot more interesting than previously expected. With the addition of Harley's ability, the book took a little bit of a different spin on this trope, which I greatly enjoyed. Harley and Axton have a unique way or pushing each other's buttons and it made their chemistry that much more believable.

I will say that be prepared to have your heart ripped out by the torture that Harley's most recent spirit endured. Normally books don't make me tear up or get really emotional, but this one hit hard. The author took no prisoners with this one and you will need some tissues.

This was a confusing read. The actual storyline has sooooo much potential to be amazing. You have this set up to have a fated mates story, a bad ass FMC, some super spooky surprises and a wild/edge or your seat main story. And it for sure starts that way. Then it slowly morphs into something else…many spelling/grammatical/timeline errors and mix ups, the characters have personality shifts, new personal quirks, traits, and nicknames seem to come out of nowhere. Parts were really rushed and other were dragged out. The timeline didn’t seem to follow the laws of time as we know them. One moment it implies it’s been days/weeks and the next it’s been like a day or less.
MMC was written as strong and wounded, then feral and passionate, then goofy then totally unhinged.
So so so much potential!!! It’s so disappointing that it didn’t live up to it. The editor or beta readers are letting the author down.
The epilogue was probably the best part of the last two thirds of the book and I am curious to see what happens to the main storyline. Just not enough to preorder it…

Full of intrigue, violence and intense lust - Spirit Walker certainly has the potential to catapult Emmaleigh Wynters into the #shifterromance scene. I enjoyed this story immensely; it’s fast-paced with a complex plot, and it delivers a delicious amount of shifter spice.

Harley Rayne sees dead people - they come to her to get help the right the wrongs that were done to them before their deaths. As a consequence of this preternatural gift, Harley has honed herself to be the perfect warrior, though she considers herself to be a bit of a freak. When she’s visited by the sister of Alpha shifter, Axton Silverstone - she prepares herself to enter the wolves den and share some unsettling truths about Acton’s sister’s untimely demise. But will she be welcomed by the pack?

I’ve come to expect Emmaleigh’s stories to centre around a strong female character, but Spirit Walker takes this to a whole new level. I think I want to be Harley Rayne, when I grow up!

Taken by surprise, totally enjoyed

Not your typical shifter romance. Creative, Definitely darker, a little spicy, found family amongst a pack of male shifters (found brothers). Some things were a little jumpy, but overall the plot was good and flowed nicely. The characters were good. Main characters end up together. Could have used a little more "seen bonding" between mains.

Harley can see the dead and is mostly alone (self inflicted-ish). She comes across found brother shifters, but knows nothing about shifters bc she's human-ish. The bros are instantly freaked the f out when she comes to tell them she can see the alphas dead sister (who is her mate). She Instantly feels rejected by them bc they are thrown. She retreats. They follow. And together the group figures out how to move forward. She figures out the sister was stolen and taken to a lab where they tortured her and experimented on her and many others and she died there.

No cliffhanger but figuring out who the f took the alphas sister and is doing experiments on them is not resolved.

What a great new shifter series!!!!

This book!!!! It has successfully secured itself as one of my favorite shifter books!

Spirit Walker is book one in the Silver Creek Pack series and I cannot wait to see what this author has in store for us with this series!!!

I loved Harley!!! She was such a fierce and bada$$ FMC, but yet she had the perfect amount of vulnerability.

Axton is growly, possessive, and ALL alpha, and just oh wow!!!

This book brings a different twist that makes it stand out from other shifter books. It’s unique with an amazing storyline that completely draws you in. All the characters in this book are all so well developed and captivated me from the very beginning. I feel such a connection to each one of them and I cannot wait to find out what’s in store for this is pack!!!

Favorite Quotes:
“I don’t want to be alone in the darkness.” “I’ll be your blanket of light, your loyal protector. Alone? Never again you’ll be.”

“Have fun, don’t dream of me too hard baby girl, remember I can smell you.”

“You’re the light in the darkness because, without you, we’d forever live in the abyss with no way to be freed from what plagues us.”

Let’s start with a curiosity: I love when characters are able to see ghosts/spirits, specially when they commit to helping them communicate or avenge their death.

Harley was brave, though very complex as well. She was confusing as she was contradicting in many ways; she claimed her mind was made up, yet she gave in all the time - that stressed me out so much. Her struggles were never long at all, so I couldn’t relate to it nor feel the character growing or evolving because of it.

Axton was an alpha and had loyal friends and family, so I felt his pain when it came to his sister, but also? No character evolving anywhere.

One of the best books I've read..

Do yourself a favor and read this story! It's an addicting page turner that had me at the edge of my seat the entire two days it took me to binge read this story! It's got everything from a kicka$$ email character, sarcasm along with witty banter, found family, incredible plot, and tied together perfectly with steamy scenes that will leave you wanting more. Some small spelling and grammatical sentence errors but not enough to put you off the story. I'd write sooo much more about the amazing connection between the female lead and the male lead (whose very alpha male🤤), but I'm in desperately need of the next book!

I love the plot but...

I loved the idea of this book and I hope to read the next one but it took me forever to get into the book and past the first 8 chapters...too much descriptive words...yes that's a thing! I can see how the next one will progress and really can't wait to read but question, do u have an editor?? They really should have caught some of the errors in this book and hey I don't want to be mean and I'm not trying to be but the scenes in the beginning cut too much super hard to follow it gets better towards the end I do really love the story line

I powered through because the story because the storyline caught me and I’ve never read anything like it before.

Unfortunately the writing was not for me, the tone came off as pretentious. The author tried to give depth to the characters but didn’t do it justice.

Half the story could have been cut out in the inner monologues. Which made the ending just be rushed.

We get no real answers and I’m not putting myself through more of the same in the next book.

It’s a shame.

I liked this book at first because it felt like an old school paranormal romance (think Mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs). But it had a repetitive conflict between the FMC and MMC that got to be super annoying. AND the penultimate chapter has the ~male~ villain disfiguring and then c*mming in a ~female~ subordinate’s eye???? Like why do I need to read about that?? I genuinely would have read the next book if it weren’t for that. I usually have a high tolerance for violence in fantasy books but that one felt unnecessarily sick and twisted.

4 “I see dead people” stars. This was dark, heavy, sad, in some parts funny and I can’t wait for the next book. That cliff hanger was brutal and I’m dying because I don’t want to wait. I will say the way the crew reacted to Harley’s gift was hilarious to me.

Stars: 4
POV: dual
HEA?: kinda
OW/OM Drama: no
Cheating: no
Cliffhanger?: yes
TW: torture, kidnapping, gore
Tropes: shifter, mates, thriller, ghosts

I received an Arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

First book in the Silver Creek Pack series. Harley can see dead people. She’s a little weird but sassy. So when one of people tell her she needs to talk to her brother. She’s on a mission , never imagined she was about to be some alpha mate. Axton is all alpha he gets what he wants. When his sister goes missing. He makes it where is pack is protected. Some things you can’t change. Other you just have to fight to make it alive. Axton and Harley story is just perfect.

The beginning of the book felt a little slow, but it develops so well, I literally couldn’t put it down. Possessive alpha who’s trying his best to give FMC her time to adjust, while his natural instincts drive him to be slightly unhinged.

I really loved the idea and development of story and how Avery went about showing what happened.

The ending does have a cliffhanger and I’m pleased next book is out so… highly recommend 😊

Fun spicy worth a read

New twists on paranormal shifter story. Definitely spicy reading. The story is DARK and has eyebrow raising elements. Nicely paced but it jumps around and feels slightly disjointed. Good back stories for the main characters just enough details without overload. Interesting read I will continue with the series and would like to see the conclusion. I would like to read more by this author but I could leave the sadistic elements on the floor it’s almost off putting.

Read this as an ARC, the characters and setting really drew me in. I love the idea of someone speaking to the dead and helping them cross over. There’s a whole lot of danger, even more violence, a bunch of kidnap victims, and drop in some shifters to make a very steamy setting for a story. This will be a series and is left with a nice little hook to have you coming back for more

Once you open this book the wildness will begin. Man this book is like talking a walk on the wild side and it's phenomenal. Axton and Harley's story has mystery, anger and is intense with pleasure of the steamy kind. There's so many hidden surprises you won't want to miss and if your a fan of Ms.Emmaleigh's books you already know it's going to be awesome.

Intense but poorly edited

I enjoyed this book! I may have rated it higher but it really suffered from poor editing. There were many typos, grammatical errors, and unfinished sentences. A little extra time and effort and this story would be much better.

Also, there should probably be a trigger warning list at the beginning as there are some truly graphic scenes

Kleenex needed - Not for the faint of heart.

The story is so in depth it is scary. The characters will make you laugh and cry. The author evokes every emotion the reader has. The scariest thing is the reader will pray that nothing happens in real life that happens in the book. Bravo Emmaleigh Wyenters
