The High Stakes Of Their Love Connection -
Ava was hot and flustered after she disembarked, but heating into an argument with a stranger at the airport and then having to walk in heels for two miles, as no one picked her up, increased her anger to a heart attack level. Unfortunately, things didn’t get any better after encountering an alligator in the kitchen when she was staying and not only running into the guy she argued with at airport, but discovering he was a neighbour.

Miles realised that he needed to change his tactics so he could get her onto his side, which meant spending time together. What he didn’t take into account was that he would fall in love with her, as he performed his act of deception. Unfortunately, just as he managed to convince Ava to see his vision and agree to be in a relationship with him, Ava overheard his brother’s comments about their relationship and it caused Ava to walk away.

As luck would have it, Miles realised the only way to get Ava back was to tell her how he felt and make her understand he would accept whatever she wanted to do. Ava was truly moved, as she realised his declaration was genuine and it was in public. Their relationship grew and they worked together to not only to complete the project, but also towards a forever happiness together.

This was a really entertaining story where the feisty attitude of the heroine and the stubbornly gruff demeanour of the hero led to steamy moments, that will leave you green with envy and a captivating storyline that would keep you turning the pages. Grab a copy now and enjoy this wonderful book.

Cute and fun is what comes to mind when I finished this novella. Miles and Ava couldn't be more different. She hates everything Florida and he loves it. But the need, to make her see this small town for what it is, pushes him to show her just how special it really is. Ava is reluctant to Miles's advances. But the more time she spends in his company, the more appealing the town becomes and soon both are falling in love. But is it all real or is she being played?

I actually loved that there was not much drama from her part and that we get to see the HEA play out perfectly.

Dirty Santa and his naughty elf!

Ava and Miles don't have a good first meeting, or a second one...infact their whole relationship is very explosive and Miles finds Angry Ava very, very sexy! Ava has an instant reaction to Miles every time, she wants to climb him and kiss him, until he opens his mouth...then she wants to punch him! Very funny and packed with snarky verbal sparring and steamy sex, Ava and Miles fully embrace the Christmas theme in Candy Cane Key. I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

Steamy Fun in the Sun!
Mikes and Ava were so fun together as well as all the supporting crew on the island. This may be considered a novella but it’s not short on character development and storyline. Love the HEA ending. Highly recommended for your reading pleasure. PEACE.

Shut up. I mean....just shut up bro. This was hands down one of the best best books that I have ever read. A sweet small town, Candy-Cane Key romance, showcasing a beautiful red-haired woman and a sexy Italian type dressed man, finding themselves hating each other's guts on their first meeting, but at the same time, finding their heart stumbling towards each other without even waiting for a second. Talk about love at first sight but too determined to not show it to the person in front? This book had it all. I loved the fierceness of Ava, and the way she got all cute when she was mad. Something that Miles, the hottest guy, also fell for. It was heartening to watch Miles fight with himself and his land which he held so close to his heart, but at the same time questioning himself whether to give up his land or his love.

Read this beautiful as freak story to see how they both lose nothing at the end, but gain so much more. I loved loved loved this book from the first page till the last. Probably the first book in this whole on-going series that caught my heart like never before. I have always loved an enemies to lovers romance but this? This was exactly what I craved for during these times. Sweet, angsty and purely romantic comedy. I would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a small town romance, enemies to lovers and a genuinely cute couple.

Miles & Ava
Ava goes on her sister business trip to get ppwk signed for their boss’ to buy a plot of land on a small FL island. Since the owner will be delayed by several days she must stay at the house because there is no other options available due to a months away chocolate cookie festival.
Of course the rude guy she met at the airport is her neighbor. Who would want to visit a Christmas Mecca that has no taxi service? She hikes it over 3 miles to the house in high heels. There is an alligator running amuck in the house. So funny!
Neighbor has instant lust hate for her after finding out why she’s in FL. He cures her of her phobia of drowning in water in one sunlit cruise ending with snorkeling. He shows her why he loves this little small community that doesn’t want to grow, understandable no one wants their view blocked by a big ugly hotel. But he lives down a road that in my head it would only block his view. The town is all judgy to her. He is charged to sleep trick her change her sister’s boss’ mind. Good thing they both work for him.
Thank goodness they we’re dealing with a small independent hotel that could adapt their business plans and make the whole town happy and stay on Santa’s nice list! Now give me a chocolate chip cookie.

Ava comes to Candy Cane Key because of her job, she arrives at the airport in CCK and isn't nothing like shes never seen. She has a run in with a gentleman, they exchange words and then she sets off on her own to find the address where she is staying until the people she is waiting for shows up.

Miles looks at her and just doesn't understand how she can show up and want to change so much. He later finds her as her next door neighbor. Come to find out his family has also been trying to buy the property that brought Ava to him.

Miles brothers tell him he should get her to fall in love with her and show her want CCK has to offer so hopefully that will get her to change her bosses mind.

Things take an interesting turn, when Miles gets called away from Ava. Things go KA-BOOM. ( this is where i leave you to hopefully get you to pick up this book and read it)

Definitely recommend this novella.

This is a very nice addition to the Candy Cane Key series, it’s a strangers to lovers romance, set in Candy Cane Key. Ava tries to purchase a plot of land to build a top-end resort for her boss and Miles who owns the land beside the one that her boss wants tries to prevent it as he wants her to realize that this small tourist town does not need a high-rise resort that blocks the view of the water and beaches. They start off with a dislike for the other, but they get to know each other and then it’s hot, hot, hot. Misunderstandings happen, they fight, there is a HEA after they work for it. I recommend.

I loved Morsel Enemies: A Man of the Month Club Novella. Ava has come to Candy Cane Keys to oversee a land purchase for their luxury resort. Mikes is determined to stop her but he didn’t plan on falling for her. They have an amazing chemistry but what happens when Ava finds out he was just using her to stop the sale? Will she listen to her heart or her head? Another great story in the Candy Cane Key series. I loves this storyline and the characters. I would love to see Miles’s brother get a story. I would definitely recommend this book and the series.

Oh my goodness. What a fun series this is going to be. I didn’t realize this was going to be a spin-off for Alexia’s fantastic series. With all the other authors contributing to the Man of the Mont Club small town series, I can’t wait until the next one. Ava is sent to the Florida Keys to oversee a real estate deal. Running into the obnoxious fisherman at the airport proves this is going to be a trip she will regret. Loved it.

A short but delightful read, I loved every word from the start to the end.
Ms. Chase has given us two great characters in Ava and Miles, I loved their antagonist meeting in the small airport in Candy Cane Key, to his despatch of the (10 foot 😉) alligator, to their romantic night on his boat out on the ocean, under the stars. Ms. Chase writes insta love stories peppered with hot and steamy sex so very well and this is great one set in a tropical paradise. I do enjoy that characters from other books appear, making every outing part of the greater Kanas City universe, but this is a perfect standalone without needing to have read anything else (although you really should!).

This was such a great addition to the Candy Cane Key series. Such a lovely, sweet story about two strangers falling in love in a town which celebrates Christmas all year round. Even though Ava and Miles get off on the wrong foot the attraction is definitely there between them and when you add to the mix that Ava is in Candy Cane Key to purchase land that Miles is after so her boss can build a resort you know that you are in for a fun ride. You will fall in love with this book and the characters and you will be left wanting more of this fun series. Do yourself a favour and read this book.

Ava and Miles are the epitome of opposites. At least that's how they appear.
What starts out as enemies both looking to own the same piece of land turns into friends getting to know each other who fall in love only to have things blow up.
But don't worry because this land is on an island called Candy Cane Key where they celebrate Christmas every day of the year.
So if you play your cards right and be good Santa may just be able to help you out.
It's fun quick read with sweet yet determined main characters and a host of nosey small town friends!

This was a fantastic enemies to lovers romance. I loved the small town feel of the story and that it was still connected to the author’s Kansas City world. Miles and Ava did not have the best first impression of each other but they definitely developed great chemistry. I loved the story and I can’t wait to read Jayden’s story.

This is probably one of my favorite Man of the Months & it was all due to the Miles. This is a novella/short story is based in Candy Cane Keys, there is a piece of land that brings two different people together, when it came to the man himself he was really drool worrying. Ava is visiting to secure the land for her boss & to do some research about the town when she meets Miles who is very against the resort being built. A tour around the small town & a couple of drinks, they find themselves on Miles boat in the middle of the ocean enjoying each other. Things move pretty fast between the two of them, but when you know you will do anything to keep or be with that person. Overall I enjoyed this quick read & the spice was a great addition when it came to my rating.

She is in town to look at property for a luxury resort, his mission is to do whatever it takes to save his town. It doesn’t take long for both their hearts to get involved and for them to realize love can overcome all. Loved this short read!

This book is short, fun, and flirty. It is a very enjoyable story to read especially if you are out by the pool or beach. Ava comes to Candy Cane Key to check out some land that her boss Jax wants to buy. She hates everything about Florida. Miles family has been a part of the island for his whole life and he doesn’t want to see a resort come in and destroy the natural beauty. He sets out to try and change Ava’s mind but ends up getting so much more than he bargained for. Their story is flirty and full of chemistry. You will quickly fall in love with the island of Candy Cane Key.

This book is another 5 star book by Alexia Chase. It is about Ava and Miles and set in Florida Keys. I love how even with a new setting and new characters, Alexia weaves known characters from previous books into the story. It is an insta romance with some hot and steamy scenes. It is an addictive read that I couldn’t put down. I was hooked from the first page. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.

WOW!! Fab*u*lous Absolutely love this one!! I couldn't put this one down. This was a little longer than I'm use to but I loved it.

Miles and Ava met when she gets off the plane in Candy Cane Keys and is looking for her ride. Miles has dirt on him and has some blood, so Ava decides to judge him. Ava finds out that Miles is her ride, she's in Candy Cane Keys for her sister, Portia. Ava's is trying to get some land that her boss wants to put up a resort. Ava walks to the house she is staying at, but then finds Miles lives next door. Ava finds an alligator in the house but then Miles comes to rescue her. Miles doesn't want a resort to be build on the land, his brother, Jayden and him are going to try to buy the land out from under Ava's boss. Miles brother, Jayden tells him to seduce Ava to try and persuade her to convince your boss not to buy the land. So Miles takes Ava all over Candy Cane Keys showing her how generations of families have lived in Candy Cane Keys. Miles tells her about how his grandparents fell in love, but then he realizes he's falling in love with her. Miles asks Ava to go out on his boat with him, but she fell over when she was little and is terrified to go on a boat. Miles tells her he'll take care of her, then Ava finds out it's a yacht he'll be taking her on. They head out on the boat and they are enjoying themselves, he pleasure her then they make love. The next morning Ava wakes up and when she realizes she's slept on the boat she jumps up. Miles is standing and watching her, then he tells her he has her breakfast. After they head back to land, Ava calls her sister to tell her she needs to tell her boss not to build the resort. When Ava calls her sister she asks her to ask her boss if he could build smaller resorts so that it doesn't block the view of sunset. Soon Miles has to head out of town so he mets his brother at the airport, they have other business to take care of. While they are waiting Miles's brother Jayden is talking to him about how he did with changing Ava's mind. Ava comes to met her boss and overhears what Miles and his brother are talking about. Ava can't believe she fell for Miles, she tells them both that her boss is going to build an ugly resort that they'll have to look at. Ava leaves with her boss and they go to look at the land, but then they head into town. Miles has to leave to take care of business, he has his whiskey business that has an emergency. Ava's boss buys the land but then he decides not to build a big resort on the land. While Ava is showing her boss around town, her boss talks to some of the locals to tell him his ideas. Then he gets several of them on board and has offered to have their products in his resort. Ava then finds out that Miles and his brother, Jayden wanted to purchase the land but she doesn't know what they were going to do with it. Ava makes plans to head back to Kansas and asks her sister Portia to let their younger sister Luna know she'll be home later. Miles comes back to Candy Cane Keys and tries to get a hold of Ava. Miles finds out she is headed back home so he finds her at the airport. Miles finds Ava at the airport while she's talking to her sister he asks her to hang up so that they can talk. Miles tells her that he'll go wherever she wants to go, he's not letting her go. He tells her that their time together wasn't a con, he wants her. Miles tells her he loves her and doesn't care if there's a big resort next to his property. Ava tells Miles the plan that her boss came up with for the resort instead of a building. Ava tells him she loves him and wants to stay and have a family with him too. Ava calls her boss to ask him if she can be on the project for Candy Cane Keys and he tells her he'd love to have her. Eighteen months later, they've finished the resort. They build huts on the land and some are even in the water. They have the ribbon cutting ceremony for the resort. Ava is six months pregnant, and her and Miles are married.

I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.

Ava wasn’t meant to be taking this trip to the keys in Florida, her pale complexion with red hair were just a disaster waiting to happen in the heat and let’s not mention the reptiles and bugs awaiting to eat her alive. But with her sister being pregnant and needing to rest she knows that there is little choice but to make this trip to finalize the details of sale for her boss Jax and the hotel resort that he is hoping to create. Meeting her neighbour Miles wasn’t the best introduction after having to walk the five miles from the airport in heels and then getting to the place she was to call home for the next few days to find an alligator already in occupancy, and then to learn that he is opposed to the reason that she is there. None the less she finds herself spending the time that she should be working with him and finds herself falling not only for him but this sleepy small town that celebrates Christmas all year round. But is Miles really all that he makes out or does he have ulterior motives for spending time with her and will she be leaving Candy Cane Key with a broken heart?

Miles should have known that Ava was a career driven woman from the moment he set eyes on her but there was something about her that made him think of all the stories his grandparents had told him about love and all that he had always wanted to find. He and his brother were successful millionaires and wanted the land that she was here to buy for a planned resort that would ruin everything that they all loved about Candy Cane Key, so when his brother suggests that he romance the land from her he decides to show her what the town is all about. The more time that thy are together he knows that the love he has always craved has come to him and isn’t a place it’s a person, but when Ava discovers the truth to who he is and why he was so attentive to her will he lose what he knows will crush his heart forever?

I want to visit a place that celebrates Christmas year-round, it was an awesome place for the story to be set and these two characters made me giggle more than once especially how Ava slept her first night in Candy Cane Key. The chemistry between Ava and Miles was apparent from the moment that they set eyes on each other, and I enjoyed their unusual courtship. 4.3* Read.

This was Alexia Chase's Man of the Month in the Men of "Candy Cane Keys" series, and it was a wonderful addition to the collection! In typical Alexia style, the characters had a definate connection. Whether it was instantly wanting to push the other as far away as possible, dragging them closer, or wanting to crawl inside their skin and feel safe and secure...there was most definately a desire to so SOMETHING with the other.

Ava traveled down to CCK to secure a piece of property for her billionaire boss (Jax). She was a well dressed professional lady who was certainly not dressed for Florida weather. After a bumpy, uncomfortable flight, Ava was grumpy, hot, sweaty, bugged (literally) and mouthy. She had no difficulty sharing her opinion with Miles, the beach bum she found out was supposed to drive her to her destination. Yeah...not happening!

Miles, very much not a beach bum but a millionaire who "vacations" at his family home in CCK every chance he gets (and to oversee one of the family businesses) was equally unimpressed with Ava and her high-maintenance attitude - despite her stunning good looks and killer figure.

So, not the best start for our main characters eh? Well, it does get better, O promise. Talking to her (after saving her from a "little" alligator), Miles learns what Ava is in town for, but also that she isn't so high-maintenance as he first thought. As they spend time together, with him introducing her to the community, the desire builds for them both.

With Ava only in town for a brief time, and their goals in direct opposition to each other, involvement is a bad idea. Yep, definately a bad idea. Can they keep themselves in check or will the magic of CCK spell the beginning of something neither is ready for? I was fortunate enough to review an ARC of this book, and won't spoil any of the suspense or surprises for y'all. Will say that I thoroughly devoured this little morsel if goodness and eagerly encourage you to do the same! Happy Reading 📚

This steamy romance is a terrific addition to the world of Candy Cane Key as well as the author’s world of Jax and his playtime boxes for couples. Ava and Miles couldn’t be more different. Miles is most at home on the water in Florida. Ava prefers the city life and living without bugs and humidity. They are also enemies at first because Ava’s boss wants to buy and build on the land immediately next to Miles’ family land and business. He worries how it will affect his land and his town.

I’m glad they didn’t stay enemies for long in this quick read romance because I really liked them together. The first time Miles calls her “baby” had me smiling and swooning. His desire to make her fall in love with Candy Cane Key worked better than expected for both of them but the wrong thing out of the mouth of his idiot brother has the potential to ruin everything. It’s a good thing Alexia Chase is such an amazing write or I might not be able to love the brother when it’s his turn for a book.

Ava and Miles are HOT together. Their steamy night out on his boat is the thing of fantasies and every night that comes after just gets better. My favorite line from this book is “I want her to crawl into my skin and live there.” He’s not your typical obsessed hero but he gets pretty close with how quickly and deeply he falls for her. I also adored the ending. It was a beautiful conclusion to everything: their relationship, the land, the tourist destination, and a fantasy box included.

Mistaken first impressions lead to an enemies to lovers story in the quaint town of Candy Cane Keys.

Ava is sent to the Florida Keys to check out a parcel of land for her boss. Miles owns the neighboring land and doesn't want to see some uber resort popping up on his island and ruining the aesthetics of Candy Cane Keys. His plan was to get close to the lovely Ava and show her the town, the people, and what a fancy resort would mean to everyone who called the place their home. He wasn't expecting to fall so quickly for the woman who believed the proper footwear on the island was heels.

But when Ava overhears a conversation Miles is having with his brother, she realizes the man she'd been falling for as well, the man she was contemplating relocating to Florida for, was playing her the entire time. She's ready to leave the man and the town she'd also fallen for behind until Miles explains what she heard was not how he really felt.

This is a quick novella featuring a steamy couple, quirky side characters, beautiful landscapes, the typical third-act break-up, and a happily ever after.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of Ava and Miles. Ava travels to a Florida town that celebrates Christmas all year long for her boss, a billionaire who wants to build a luxury resort there. Miles lives in the town and he doesn't want the resort built because he feels like it will ruin the town. Miles is also trying to buy the land to stop the development. Miles is a secret billionaire and Ava thinks he is just another beach bum. Miles's brother asks him to win Ava over and stop her boss from buying the land. Ava is very attracted to Miles, but thinks he has no ambition. When Miles starts to show Ava around the town, she starts to see the town really is special. Ava and Miles also start to give into their attraction to one another. But what will happen when Ava learns about Miles wanting to buy the land too. Ava was a strong woman but she also wanted to be loved. I think she loved Miles, but she questions if she was played or if he meant anything he said. I liked this book, I think Miles really loved the town and only wanted to keep its spirit. Another good one.

What an enjoyable addition to the Candy Cane Key series. Ms. Chase gives us a sweet strangers-to-lovers set in Candy Cane Key and it had me wanting to visit the small town. We find Ava visiting to seal the deal for her boss Jax, in purchasing a plot of land to build a top-end resort. No problem right? She hits a snag in the plans and that is Miles, the man who owns the land beside the one that her boss wants. Can he get her to see that this small tourist town does not need a high-rise resort that blocks the view of the water and beaches? Well, Miles decides to wine and dine her but is this all that happens? When they both see something in the other person that they did not see originally, feeling start to show and sparks start to fly. Can Mile get the city-girl Ava to change her mind about what Candy Cane Key is really about and maybe get her and her boss to come up with a better design for the resort? Overhearing a discussion changes everything and has Ava changing her mind about everything.
I recommend adding Morsel Enemies to your TBR list.

I absolutely loved reading about Ava and Miles in this book by Alexia Chase. This series is just the best, the characters are exciting and the storyline flows very well and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Ava is on Candy Cane Keys, Florida to close a land deal for her boss Jax. Then she meets Miles who owns the land next door to the property that’s for sale, he doesn’t want the resort to be built because it will destroy the view and chase the residents away with the tourists who will come to the island. They both start off with a tremendous dislike for the other until they get to know the other and then it’s a hot scorching relationship that develops between them. Misunderstandings happen and before you know it they are fighting. There is a happily ever after for this couple, but they have to work for it. If you love a heat filled story, then this is one you need to read.

Chocolate chips, year-round Christmas decorations, crystal-clear waters, and smoldering nights under the stars. What more could you ask for?
Ava’s boss, Jax, wants the same land Miles wants, and she’s there to make sure Jax gets it and escape Hell Town, Florida, as fast as she can. Miles loves the land and will stop at nothing to get rid of the interloper.
Until Miles and the town charm her. Or is it all a lie?

✔ Loved their first meet and the second. (croc all the way)
✔ I liked how devoted Miles was and their instant connection.
✔ Loved the drama, the laughs, the snark and the steamiliouscly steamy spice.

✔ Wish it was a full fledged novel and not a novella.

Chocolate chip cookies and the Ice Princess

Morsel Enemies by Alexia Chase is part of the multi-author Candy Cane Key series. The story finds Ava Ward finds herself in Candy Cane Key for work. She was sent there to secure the purchase of the Faulkner Estates for her boss Jax, who wants to build a resort. What Ava was not expecting was a next door neighbor named Miles Langley who would turn her entire world upside down, along with the resort project. Miles is determined to not let the uppity Ice Princess get her hands on the estate and build a tourist resort which will change the town. What Ava does not know is that Miles may look like a beach bum who lives in a bungalow on the beach, but he is actually a successful businessman with with brother and they are worth a lot of money. Let the games begin as these two wind their way through turbulent waters and a lot of hot air.
