Anthony

During my seven years as a social worker in Gaynor Beach, California, delivering orphaned twins to their unsuspecting father is the biggest challenge I’ve ever faced. These babies lost their mother and they need a loving parent, but is adorable Scott Wexler up to that challenge? Transferring custody is one thing—walking away is something entirely different, especially with the stress of Christmas bearing down on Scott too.

Scott

After escaping a miserable childhood, I’ve made a fresh start in California. I’m in charge at the Gaynor Beach Public Library, I love helping people, and I'm feeling like an actual functional human being. Then social worker Anthony Rodrigues shows up on my doorstep with twins I fathered through a sperm donation, and suddenly I'm responsible for two tiny lives. Accepting help from the gorgeous social worker is a no brainer—admitting I want him to stay is going to take a lot more courage.

This 74k word gay romance is a slow burn, mid-angst, instalove with a geeky librarian, a by-the-book social worker, adorable twin-toddler terrors, and a beleaguered cat named Crumpy.

I enjoyed the storyline between Scott and Anthony and thought they were sweet together. They were great caretakers for the babies. I liked that there was no miscommunication which is one thing I dislike in books. They worked well together. I did, however, have an issue with Anthony dropping off the twins with Scott without any warning. It was unrealistic and distracted me for the entire book. (Many people may not have an issue with something like that.) I’m curious about the ending where they were becoming emergency foster parents and hope I can read any follow up story about their experience.

Two Men and 2 Babies

When two men who have suffered through unhappy childhoods are confronted with a set of twins to find a home for, it’s a struggle.

Anthony is a Social Worker who specialises in supervising childcare within struggling or abusive families.

Scott is the newly appointed Manager of the local Library in Gaynor Beach. In his private life he likes playing ‘Daddy’ to younger twinky guys. He’s even got the t-Shirt saying so. That’s what he was wearing, plus boxers, when Social Worker Anthony knocked on his door with two babies in car seats.

The blurb for this ‘Single Dad of Gaynor Beach’ book had me hooked immediately and never let go till the last page.

Of course Scott who also suffers from panic attacks, loses it when he hears and reads what Scott delivers. Luckily Anthony is more level headed, apart from his job dealing with childcare cases, he has had family trauma of his own and so is very protective and understanding of needs of families with young children.

Anthony does everything he can to help Scott, even through he gets in trouble with his Boss. He gets in deeper trouble when he doesn’t want to leave Scott alone to struggle with his new lifestyle change.

I did have one niggle with these two and their growing relationship, and I’ll be interested to read reviews to see if anyone else felt the same. Of course this didn’t detract from my enjoyment of ‘Anthony’ and I plan on reading more of ‘Single Dads of Gaynor Beach’ Series, by different authors.

What a lovely series Gabbi Grey's Single Dads of Gaynor Beach has turned out to be! So far I've read Hugh and Anthony, and I can't wait to read the rest. It seems like it is fine to read these as standalones, but I'm glad I read Hugh first, just because Anthony's character is introduced in Hugh. But it would still work fine on its own.

Gabbi Grey has a real gift with their characters, and creates interesting dynamics between them. It is always an engaging relationship, and seeing how they make their way toward a happily ever after is such a treat.

The audio version of Anthony is beautifully performed by the magnificent Michael Ferraiuolo. It is a lovely audiobook.

Something just fell a little flat for me with this book. It was still a totally fine read - I didn't want to throw it across the room or anything, haha! - but it also didn't inspire me to go seeking out other books in the series.

Both Scott and Anthony didn't seem fully developed to me. Maybe it's because from chapter 1 they're being overwhelmed with suddenly caring for nine month old twins, but I feel like who they ARE as PEOPLE could have been shown better on the page. I also found it weird that Anthony comes to Scott's house to drop off these twins and then just... sort of... stays. And a lot of the romantic tension is around them both realizing they don't want Anthony to leave, that they both want him to stay, but they're too scared to actually talk to each other about it. Meanwhile they're both falling in love with these amazing babies - and each other, oops.

I don't normally love books with single parents, but I did find it entertaining watching Scott (and Anthony) suddenly be thrown into parenting a pair of nine month old twins. I fell in love with Alicia and Zayden (who even though they can't talk yet still seemed to have more fully formed, interesting personalities than Scott and Anthony!!). Mostly, I really loved the descriptions of two formerly single men suddenly parenting these two handfuls, and was less enamored of the romantic storyline.

This is part of the Single Dads of Gaynor Beach multi-author series. While it can be read as a stand-alone, there's another book by Gabbi Grey in the series, Hugh, which seems to come before this one and Anthony's actions in that book have big repercussions on some of his relationships with the side-characters in Anthony, so it might be best to read Hugh first. I didn't, and I did feel like I was sometimes missing things.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are unbiased and my own.

This is yet another wonderful book in the “Single Dads of Gaynor Beach” series by different authors. This one was written by Gabbi Grey who has written several wonderful books I had the pleasure of reading. I absolutely love several stories in the series. I wouldn’t mind living in Gaynor Beach because of all these wonderful dads! This one gets 5 stars from me.

The story focuses on Scott, an unsuspecting dad who had no idea he was a dad to twin babies until the social worker, Anthony brought them to his house. He was having someone over when Anthony came knocking. That guy freaked out when he saw two babies and ran out. Anthony felt helpless because he had no idea he was a dad and had no idea what to do! Anthony told him he has two choices. One was to accept the babies and take care of them or decline them and he’d take them to a foster family. Scott decided he’d take them and luckily Anthony knew how to help him get the house babies ready. That’s where I’m going to stop and have you pick up the book to read to find out what happens. A wonderful reading!!!!

3.5 stars. A couple of things in the book struck me as being somewhat unrealistic, and took me out of the story initially. However, on the whole it was a little bit on the different side, and the situation in which Anthony and Scott found themselves, pulled me into the tale. It's very slow burn, with some angst from both guys thrown in. Their relationship is definitely not insta love, it's built on respect, necessity and practical needs. Also, Scott needed lots of hugs, and Anthony was happy to supply them. In the blurb the author mentions that the kids are adorable terrors. One of them, Alicia, came across as evil incarnate! I felt for her twin! A good effort at writing something original, the epilogue was delightful.

3.5 stars....I loved the concept of this book and the storyline however I felt like something was missing between Scott and Anthony. While each man admitted that the other was attractive, they weren't each other's "type." That was pointed out several times throughout the book, but then one day it was a bam, attraction. I absolutely know attraction can grown over time, but within one week, and I felt like I was missing something as the reader. With all that being said, this was still a really sweet book with an enjoyable storyline.

Family!

Anthony: Wonderful story! Unexpected parenthood and love. Fantastic characters and great friendships. Anthony didn't know what to expect when he delivered the twins to their biological father, since the mother didn't have a choice. Amazing writing by Gabbi Grey did a wonderful job of writing this story of relationships and become a parent with twins. I really enjoyed Anthony's story!

Gabbi Grey has written a beautifully told story of a man who is suddenly given the responsibility of raising twins, when he did not even know he was a parent. It's a heartrending story interwoven with a slow-burn romance culminating in a heartwarming and extremely satisfying HEA end.

If you know anyone who has ever dealt with abandoned or orphaned children and the foster care system, you know what an absolute nightmare it can be for everyone, but in particular the children. The author's story is one that really does occur although in this case there is a much happier ending than many.

This is a slow-burn romance that also presents some of the real-life scenarios of raising children. I will never forget when my three month old daughter rolled off the bed and I thought I had killed her. She was fine but as a new parent there was a constant fear that I wasn't "parenting" correctly . Of course in this story there is the added drama of having absolutely no preparation for even being a parent.

But the story is very dear and it will be hard to put the book down. The author does a great job of letting the reader see what both protagonists are thinking and feeling. I felt a connection to both which made the ending even more satisfying. Kudos to the author for a great story and for making my heart smile just a wee bit. Well worth a read.

I really liked the idea of this book but unfortunately the execution didn't match my expectations.

Anthony just drops of the twins and although I could accept that, I really had troubles with the "him-staying" part . I just couldn't understand why he would do that and why Scott would let him.
They had no previous relationship in any way, so that just didn't work for me.

The second part, I had real troubles with was the time frame for this story. There was no reason why all of that had to happen in approximately 10 days, which made it even harder to swallow.

And gor me there were a lot of open questions left in the end. I got the impression the author raised some issues just to give herself the possibility to work these into thee story and then either just forgot about them or tried to explain it in 1 sentence.

I didn't DNF it as I liked Scott and Anthony ... but this could have been so much better.
I really liked the epilogue.

All in all unfortunately only 2,5 stars from me.

An ARC was provided by GRR and I am happy to give my honest opinion

I liked it - that fits. I didn't love it, I won't read it again but it was a nice read.
The pros of this book definitely were the twins - great to see babies who are actually not angels all the time and do stuff like overflowing their diapers. But I have to say - they dominated the book a lot.
Which brings me to the cons - the love story got lost in the daily chaos and the prominent kids.
I mean - it is kind of instalove and at least on Scott's side I would have asked myself - does he actually want me of my kids? I didn't feel their connection.

Anthony is book 8 in the single dads of gaynor beach, a multi-author series, but can absolutely be read as a stand alone. Having read some of the other Gaynor beach books by Gabbi Grey, I had some inkling of the characters in this one but there’s enough back story or the characters are minor enough that it’s not noticeable. I actually read/listened to this before Hugh - which is book number 4 - and I highly highly recommend this and I’ll tell you why. I really, really didn’t like Anthony and I think his redemption would have been much more difficult had I read Hugh first. Does Hugh take place temporally first? Yes. Do the plots tie together? Also yes. Do I still recommend reading Anthony first, absolutely yes. Anthony is a social worker who was hard on one of his clients who subsequently overdosed and everyone blamed Anthony for her overdose. While that’s inherently problematic and I understand that, seeing how he interacted with Oscar and Hugh in Hugh …. Ugh. No. So open with him trying to redeem himself by helping an unsuspecting Scott with two toddler he didn’t know he had? It works. He sort of goes to help Scott and then basically never leaves. But watching him figure his stuff out and deal with some of his past issues - some of which just show up at the door - and how he loves those kids, well it works. As a slight sidenote, Anthony’s dad gets admitted to the hospital and the doc realizes he has a DNR so somehow he doesn’t get treatment? DNR and end of life care are not the same and often confused, and this perpetuated that erroneous belief in my perception. That being said, it really didn’t detract from the overall story too much. Glad they all got their found family.

Reviewed for Rainbow Gold Reviews. A copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.

Why I read this book: I am a fan of this author and I have read and reviewed most of this multi-authored series so far.

When it comes to the Single Dads of Gaynor Beach series, this author does one thing I really appreciate; she weaves characters from other books into her story. For a tight-knit community, it really is nice to see glimpses of the characters from other books to provide continuity.

In Gabbi Grey’s first book of the series, Hugh, Anthony was introduced as kind of a villain in that story. I can say for sure that I didn’t like him, and I wasn’t completely sure that she was going to be able to redeem him in this story. As a social worker, he really stuck it to Oscar, and the baby’s deceased mother (when she was alive). When he brings twins, Alicia and Zayden to Scott’s house in this book, Scott opens the door in a funny but not kid-friendly crop top and underwear, and Anthony was ready to hand over Alicia and Zayden with little question. At first, it made me even more mad about Anthony’s previous behavior. But as the story goes on, and his own tragic past is revealed, the hang-ups he had with Oscar were much more personal to Anthony and had nothing to do with Oscar, himself.

Okay, that was a lot to unload just about the backstory but it felt important especially if you hadn’t read the first book. In this book, Anthony seems chastened about his previous behavior. He is extremely awkward when he runs into Oscar and his husband Hugh, but it is out of shame and I do believe he has learned something from the previous book.

Now Anthony is an extremely helpful social worker when it comes to Scott. He helps Scott get settled with the kids, sticks around to help babyproof things, and pretty much moves in. At first it’s concern for everyone’s welfare, and then he slowly grows attached to the twins and to Scott. Scott is a librarian and while he is familiar with working with kids, he hasn’t ever considered having any of his own. Scott is pretty likable character from the onset, and he did appear briefly in one of the previous books. His own past is painful, after he was ostracized from his family and community when he came out as gay. Besides that, his parents were no-nonsense, God-fearing, farmers who didn’t celebrate Christmas or birthdays, His childhood seemed lonely and without love.

Scott, and Anthony both want to create a better life for the twins than they experienced, but they have to come to terms with what their relationship is first. Is it just Scott holding on to the lifeline that is Anthony? Is it proximity? Or are they truly falling for each other? Because of the children being uprooted and the adjustment period, the romance is pretty slow-burn, and the characters have to get out of their own way to make things happen. I really loved the epilogue of the story. In the end, I did end up liking Anthony, he was redeemed, and he and Scott were a great couple addition to the Gaynor Beach series.

This book is part of the 'Men of Gaynor Beach' series which will have 12 books in total and is the second book in the series by Gabbi Grey. I hope I explained that right lol. I have only read the 2 books in the series by Gabbi Grey so far.

One of the things I love about this author, is that so far, all of her stories revolve around and interconnect (even if only in a minor way) together. This makes me feel like I can really connect with the characters at a deeper level. We've seen Anthony briefly before and I have to say that I wasn't very fond of him. I knew when I started this book that he would need some major redeeming qualities for me to overlook his past.

He doesn't start off in a way that I thought would make redemption possible and I will say that this is a character that while he has his heart in the right place, sometimes doesn't make the best of choices. He does have his reasons and they are BIGGIES, but at times, it clouds his judgement and gets him in trouble more than once.

Scott also has had a very difficult past and moved to Gaynor Beach for a fresh start a few years ago and is enjoying his life as the head librarian at the public library. As luck would have it, his old college bestie located the sperm he had donated while desperate for money and used it to become pregnant... with twins.

This is where things get a bit complicated and I won't spoil the story for you by revealing too much (I hope). So I will give the long story short version.

Things don't work out for college bestie mommy ( which is its own entire can of worms) and she leaves the twins with the local social worker aka/Anthony who delivers them to a very surprised Scott. None of this goes over well with the heads of the social services department and things heat up as Scott and Anthony band together to fight for the twins and discover that if they can make it through everything being thrown their way, maybe they can be a family.

There's a super big twist that happens and it turned everything upside down for me. It doesn't end well and I felt like the thing might lead to regrets later on. We'll see I guess. Sometimes you have to let things go and this might be one of those times.

I enjoyed this story very much and Anthony did redeem himself in my eyes, I hope he does for you too.

Wonderful Story & Narration🎧 Engrossing & Heartfelt!

Anthony
Single Dads of Gaynor Beach Romance, Book 1
By: Gabbi Grey
Narrated by: Michael Ferraiuolo

It is great to be back in Gaynor Beach for another fantastic single dad romance novel written by Gabbi Great and it is a great addition to the series, a multi-author series of standalone novels. After meeting Anthony Rodrigues in “Hugh” I knew I needed to know his story, and despite not being very likable, I still found him intriguing and knew there was more to him than meets to eye. Anthony is a social worker with child protective services and he delivers not one but two bundles of joy to Scott Wexler, twin babies he had not known he fathered, via sperm donation, once he gets over the shock of it all, Scott handles the surprise fairly well. This is an unusual case for Anthony and he takes a special interest in it, in Scott and the babies too, so he sticks around to help him take care of the babies and to set up his home. It was great to watch these two get to know each other and see their relationship morph into more, also great to learn their backstories and knowing Anthony’s explained a lot of his behavior. Both overcame their childhoods and made the best for themselves. This is a beautifully written and plotted story, a story that captivated my attention the entire time and tugged at my heartstrings. Gabbi Grey, thank you for another wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Michael Ferraiuolo continues to deliver an outstanding performance bringing these characters and story to life. His character voices are fitting to their personalities and he is believable in every role. He continues to set the perfect tone for the story, captures all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling each one. Ferraiuolo is a versatile voice artist and his performance elevates this already wonderful story to another level. Thank you for another fabulous listen.

This is the perfect story for those who want something unique, something that includes twin babies and found families. Anthony and Scott are thrown together unexpectedly when caseworker Anthony escorts 9-month-old twins to Scott—twins Scott never even knew were born. From that point to nearly the end of the story, Anthony is so involved with helping Scott that neither man can find a moment to stop and acknowledge how close they are growing as they deal primarily with the kids and all the hassle that comes with such an unexpected life crisis.

Scott was never told by his best friend that she used his sperm (banked) for her children. But now she can no longer care for them so she signs and seals all the legal documents for him to take over. If only he knew they were coming! This is a very different setup from the norm, and I appreciated the author’s efforts to use the turmoil of having twin babies dropped in one’s lap to create enough chaos to disrupt anyone’s life.

I had my doubts that Scott and Anthony would ever find the time to realize they were growing closer, and I doubted Scott would ever get past his anxiety attacks to be able to move forward and accept the full responsibility for raising the kids. The author did a good job of keeping me coming back to see what turmoil would happen next.

There are, of course, multiple obstacles and dramas along the way, including trying to gain Anthony’s boss’s approval and then facing the father he’s been estranged from for years. Scott, too, has issues finding daycare, and then he’s troubled by a visit from the children’s mother. The book ends, however, on a sweet epilogue that ties the loose ends and gives the guys much to look forward to in their future.

Anthony is a surprise single dad romance that has a fair amount of drama and adorable twin babies.
Poor Scott, bless him. Not the way you expect to start your day with a social worker on your doorstep telling you you're the father of the twin babies at his feet and they've been left in your custody. Gabbi wrote the angst of this very well, it not being something that Scott is prepared for in any way but Anthony is there with him every step of the way. He definitely goes above and beyond what would be expected of his job description, going so far as to move in but it feels like a natural progression for the two men. There's a subtle chemistry that slowly builds as they lean on each other and learn how to care for and love the little ones. I wasn't too keen on how little discussion there is between them, in regards to any romantic relationship, especially with the history each man has. Both had hard childhoods, which we don't know too much about, and it's like their stumbling through. Understandable with the little amount of sleep and high amount of stress but it was just one thing that didn't feel right to me. I really enjoyed everything else about the story - the characters and plot is all written well, is engaging and I felt the tension and strain that the surprise brought to Scott.
This is actually my first read from this series but I will definitely be going back to read the others. We do get interaction with others who I assume get their own stories and I look forward to seeing what happens with those. A recommended read for those who enjoy a single dad romance, slow burning with a bit of angst to bring some drama to the story.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

I'm a bit surprised how much I ended up liking this one because this authors other book in this series, Hugh didn't really work for me. Plus Anthony wasn't a likeable character in Hugh. Yup, first impressions can sometimes be way off the mark. I ended up really liking Anthony and my heart went out to him. A good solid read.

So far all the books in this series can be read as a stand-alone and this one probably can too but I would suggest reading Hugh to get his full story, plus a few characters from Hugh play a role in this book.

● Contemporary
● Small-ish town
● Single dad (suddenly, of twins)/Child Welfare worker pairing
● Forced proximity, of sorts
● One bed
● Secrets
● Chaos
● Made me chuckle
● Made me sad
● Heartwarming
● Loved the MCs
● Satisfying HEA
● Part of a Multi Author Series
● Can be read as a stand-alone but I would at least read Hugh first

‘Anthony’ is part of the Single Dads of Gaynor Beach series and has a lot of characters from ‘Hugh’, the first in the series. New characters are based around Scott, the hot librarian and his cat Crumpet.

Anthony Rodrigues is the social worker from ‘Hugh’ and who is responsible, at least in part, for Hugh’s daughter’s death. We get to find out what happened in his past to make him the man he has become. Something about all that drives him to deliver a pair of nine month old twins to Scott Wexler’s home. The twins are his as a result of a sperm donation and his best friend’s deviousness. Scott is totally unprepared but willing to have a go. Anthony rolls up his sleeves and helps Scott. As they work together they develop respect and more for each other.

The book does not hold back on any of the issues that come from having to look after babies. The amount of nappy changes is mind boggling and probably a bit exaggerated. That aside, Scott and Anthony have to make a lot of rearrangements to fit the kids into their lives. They have a lot to cope with, which they do with unexpected outside help. There are dark moments for Anthony but, with Scott’s and Hugh’s support, he weathers them.

This is an enjoyable read and the two main characters go from anxious, self-centred men to caring individuals worthy of love. It is a well written and honest read.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Anthony, by Gabbi Grey was a captivating book about a man who never intended to be a father, and the social worker who was managing the case of nine month old twins.

Scott, a local librarian, was just starting to live his life for himself after putting his energy into school for the past few years when he unexpectedly became a father of two. One of Scott's friends had been artificially inseminated by using one of the donations Scott made at a local sperm bank to put himself though college. When she decided she couldn't be a mother any longer, she took the children to social services with paperwork giving Scott full custody.

Anthony was the social worker who took the twins to Scott's house and then never left. As both men learn to be parents, they began to fall for each other. This book was plot driven and revolved more around the men interacting with the children rather than each other. I would have liked a little more romance and time with just Anthony and Scott, but the book was well written and kept my attention.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is a good addition to the Single Dads of Gaynor Beach series with an intriguing storyline and interesting characters. Anthony was introduced in another book in this series, Hugh, and he is seriously in need of some redemption as he was awful in that story. Knowing why he acted the way he did does help me like him a lot more but I still wish that he had showed more remorse for his previous actions. When he realizes that Scott is going to need a lot of help dealing with the twin babies he was surprised with out of the blue he is all in to do whatever it takes to support all three of them. Scott is shocked when Anthony shows up at his door with the twins but he quickly realizes that he can't turn them away even though he has no idea how to be a dad. Between the two of them and with a lot of help from a very competent teenager they manage to muddle through. I like how their relationship develops, there are some great secondary characters, the ending is good and I look forward to reading the other books in this series.

This is a bit of an insta-love story in the Gaynor Beach series. The reader doesn't have to have read the previous book in order to enjoy this story. Scott Wexler is the head librarian at the Gaynor Beach Library and is determined to make up for all the fun he missed while in college and growing up on a very conservative farm in Oklahoma. Then one morning Anthony Rodriguez, a social worker in Gaynor Beach, shows up at his door with fraternal twins and tells Scott that he is their father and their mother has signed them over to Scott. Anthony informs Scott that his old college friend tracked down where he had made sperm donations and used his sperm to become pregnant. However, she has now decided to give all parental rights to Scott and leave town with her husband. I liked how the author portrayed how flabbergasted and overwhelmed that Scott felt at first and how he was angry with his old friend. I also liked how Scott began to learn to ask for and accept help from his friends. Anthony immediately helped Scott and they soon bonded and developed feelings for each other while caring for the twins. This was an enjoyable read and a good addition to the series.

3.5 rounding up because of audio performance - I am rating this primarily on its merits as an audiobook. The narrator, Michael Ferraiuolo, did a lovely job of portraying all the different characters in the book, and I think this elevated the story.

This is the second book in this series that I've read. I think this stands alone just fine, but I am glad to have first read Hugh, since there is some overlap with characters. I'm glad that Anthony gets a redemption arc - he was pretty horrid in Hugh. He softens so much in this book, thanks to the babies and to the cute ginger, Scott.

As with the book Hugh, romance definitely takes a back set to the story of what happen when twin babies are deposited at their unsuspecting biological dad's house & how they become a family. In this case, Anthony helps quite a bit, of course, and slowly Anthony falls in love with the babies and with Scott.

It's a sweet story and I was entertained, though yes, I would have enjoyed much more of the romance aspect. However, I knew going in what to expect. I think I liked this story a bit more than Hugh.

Anthony is a dedicated social worker. Sometimes, well lots of times, he goes with his heart rather than strictly following the guidelines. He put the needs and emotions of people above rules and regulations.

Scott is a librarian who loves the small town he lives in and the people he serves. After a miserable childhood he does everything thing he can to help others, to the extent that he provides sperm to a sperm bank so people who cannot get pregnant in the 'traditional' way can still become parents.

Imagine Scott's surprise when a social worker shows up on his doorstep with twins, Alicia and Jayden, as a result of his generosity.

When Anthony discovered how 'in over his head' Scott is, he arranges to help. Something his supervisor is less than pleased with. But the needs of the twins bring them close together...and they find common ground in their own loneliness.

But life still has more twists and turns in store for them! Way beyond just the excitement of adjusting to toddlers.

Love grows. Children grow. Expectations grow. And a family is born!

Four and a half stars

Anthony by Gabbi Grey is part of the multi-author shared universe series Single Dads of Gaynor Beach. Scott Wexler runs the town’s library, making it a welcoming and safe place of learning for children and adults alike. When social worker Anthony Rodrigues turns up on his doorstep with twins that are apparently his, his life as he knows it is turned upside down.

Anthony is essentially a modern-day marriage of convenience of sorts, where Scott and Anthony fall almost sideways into a relationship primarily first because of their love for Alicia and Zayden. While their days and nights are a jumble of parenting demands, they also come to realize they have very not-parental feelings for each other…

Gabbi Grey’s storytelling is captivating, and Anthony is a great small-town dads read. While each story in the series stands alone, there are appearances by other characters from Ms Grey’s other books in the series that give us a peek at their lives as well.

Im not even sure how to begin this review.... the book was fine. But Not awe inspiring. I was looking forward to it, but it just missed the mark for me.

I understood Anthony better, but felt like there was still tension between Oscar High and him. I felt a scene between the four adults would have been good if he explained why addicts made him feel how he did. It would have helped them understand why Anthony had hounded Patti.
As for Scott, while he seemed likeable enough, taking on twins he wasnt aware he had fathered. I found it strange that he basically had Anthony move in immediately, yes he needed the help, but to move a stranger into his home, and room with 2 new children under his roof, didnt sit right with me, regardless thst Anthony was a social worker. I also didnt feelnlike Id gotten to know Scott. We were given bits and pieces of his back story... but unless I slept through it, I didnt actually understand him at all.

Sorry I couldnt be more positive.

Anthony by Gabbi Grey (audiobook review)
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
Wow Gabbi after reading Hugh and meeting Anthony, I thought I wasn't going to be able to like him. Boy was I wrong, I think he has become one of my favorite characters ever.
I love how we get a background of what happened in Anthony’s life to make him the way he is. How he ever meant to hurt anyone. All he ever wanted was to protect and keep his clients safe. Then we have Scott the Daddy Librarian, I love Scott through the book we see how perfect Anthony and him are. Their love story is fast love, but while I was listening to Michael Ferraiuolo Narrated it didn’t feel fast. To me the whole book went with the flow. I was super excited to know this book would be narrated by Michael Ferraiuolo. I Love how he is able to modify his voice, according to the character he is reading. Gabbi this was another amazing story to listen to. Michael Ferraiuolo you are amazing!

MM - Single dad and the Social Worker

We meet Anthony, the obnoxious social worker from the book (Hugh). Here, he gets his own story. Does he grow on you? Yes, a little.

Scott works at the local library, is not in a relationship, and has a happy life until Anthony drops by his doorstep with two babies in tow. Apparently, they are his, but how and how???

I loved this story and the characters; even Anthony started to grow on me.

Michael Ferraiuolo did an excellent job of narrating this book. As usual, I did speed up the recording to 1.25 on Audible.

"We need to talk..."

After finishing Hugh, which is also a story by Gabbi Grey, in this multi-authored series of books called Single Dads of Gaynor Beach, I immediately started Anthony. At the time I didn't realize that Anthony was the same Anthony in the Hugh story. I didn't like Anthony very much so I wasn't sure I'd enjoyed this book. I'm glad to say I was wrong.

First off, if you haven't read/listened to Hugh, stop and read that first, these two books really should be read in order. It would be a shame to miss out on the subtleties of these characters.

This story was another emotional read/listen. I also forgot to mention in the last review I did that Michael Ferraiuolo did a fantastic job with the narration of both of these books (Hugh and Anthony). He brought these stories to life.

Slow-burn, some angst, unexpected arrival, social worker with some personal problems, librarian with a rough childhood, hopefully these two will work through their personal issues
