Looking for a quick, steamy romantic vampire read, then you need to pick up a copy of Lifeline by Evelyn Montgomery. I definitely was getting Buffy the Vampire Slayer vibes and Interview with the Vampire for the dark vibes as well.
No matter how many centuries separate Felix and Esme, they will always find each other. Only each time that they do, their intimate connection grows even stronger. If I was going to have vampire lover, I would want it to be someone like Felix. Esme and Felix were truly meant to be together.
This book may be on the shorter side of Evelyn's books, but it is not lacking on the spice. Nope, she still brings the steam!

A steamy vampire book that does not disappoint. This book gave me twilight, buffy and fallen (lauren kate book) vibes. I love that their story takes place over hundreds of years and the ending is so good.

Felix and Esme are caught in this seemingly endless loop of lust, love and loss until everything literally changes.
It was a very enjoyable dual pov read where the main characters were feeling the same about eachother. And with some well timed Evelyn plot twists, this story is sure to sink its teeth in right from the start.

This was a short novella about a tragic love story between a vampire and a mortal, which kept going through different lifetimes. I felt the pain, the desperation, the desire, the love… The writing was beautiful, and the spice didn’t appear until maybe 30% of the story, but damn was it good. A lot of dirty talking from Felix, and there’s primal play, knife play, breathe play, blood play and edging involved. I have to say, while I loved that, I kind of felt frustrated through it all. The author gives hints about what is happening as the chapters go on, but didn’t truly reveal a thing until the very end, which only made me feel lost in the plot. The story has jumps through the years and different lives Felix and Esme experience, which help build tension and angst, but did not help me catch up with the ultimate goal of the fight they were in.
So, mixed feelings about the book, which is why I rate it with 3 stars. Maybe it’s just me that didn’t understand the plot, so I’d say definitely give it a chance, because the good parts are really worth the read.

How can you not swoon when your true love is saying words like that to you! Evelyn Montgomery has yet again proven how talented she truly is with her writing. Paranormal isn't her regular romance style yet she completely nails the story of Felix (vampire) and Esme (slayer). Forget everything you think you know about how a slayer is born....Evelyn works her author magic and gives a completely different spin on how the slayer is "born".
Felix and Esme have a soulmates kind of love. There isn't anyone else for either of them no matter what Esme's father has in store for her. Felix doesn't know what he was destined to become or that he will be bringing Esme into the mix resulting in so much heartache...especially where Felix is concerned. The Coven he belongs to makes certain that he and Esme never truly find happiness in their love. What is underestimated by the Coven is the love they have for each other and the strength of it keeps bringing them back together. Felix can only take being torn apart from Esme so many times before he takes matters into his own hands...he will not lose her again. As soon as he gains the knowledge he needs as leverage he sets his plan into motion. Will it be enough to end the centuries upon centuries upon centuries curse bestowed upon him and Esme for good?
In Lifeline Evelyn does what Evelyn does best...throws in plot twists you don't see coming, has you emotionally attached to her characters in the blink of an eye, and leaves you with a book hangover because you want more!

If you are need of a dark, intense vampire love story this is the book for you! Their love has overcome centuries of lies, revenge, vengeance, and love that Felix & Esmeralda are destined to be together! Felix has devoted his immortal life to keeping Esme safe and he will forfeit his life if it means she is protected. He is destined to be hers and she is his no matter the circumstances surrounding them wishing nothing but continuous death and re-births. None of that can keep these two lovers apart. Their draw to each other is intense and radiates off the page. Evelyn has the power to make you love and want the bad guys and Felix is no exception. You will be cheering them on through their century old love story and their willingness to give each other their forever as long as they are together. This is a powerful and very intense read. They are explosive between the sheets and their dedication to each other is all consuming. Even though Paranormal Romance is not Evelyn's forte, she still knocked it out of the park. I was intrigued right from the start and didn't want it to end. I was in love with Felix and Esme story and I'm slightly hoping for a sequel ;)
Felix and Esme have a love that is the exact definition of soulmates. Right from the very start they couldn't resist each other. Growing up together created a bond like no other and when Esme found out she was to be betrothed to another she knew instantly she had to get away. The only man she wanted was Felix. That night they professed their love to one another and made a promise to be each other's for eternity and if there is life after death, then they will together then to. But this night sealed a deal that rang true and changed their lives forever.
Little did Esme know at the time, but Felix was born to a vampire and on his 18th birthday he changed from human to vampire. For centuries they been living a curse where he is forced to wait until Esme is reincarnated and to train her to be a slayer. The coven doesn't accept her and time and time again they eliminate her. Unfortunately, she doesn't awaken with all her memories, so he is tormented to repeat the process over again until her memories come back. But one can only wait so long, and the Coven truly underestimates the power of love.

This book may have been a quick read but it packed a whole lotta feels in it; the angst, the romance, the heartache, it was an emotional rollercoaster and I was here for it all. Felix, my vampire man, Felix knows what it is to love a woman and believe me when I say that not even death matters cause his love is forever....swoon. And, Esmerelda, she has got a strong heart, also, to have gone through what she has, and I love her for that, they truly are meant to be together. This whole storyline flowed effortlessly and fluidily but keep you glued to each word and page. It was beautiful and spicy. This is a must read!

Esme and Feliz are hot together. Feliz is the right amount of controlling and possessive. His dirty mouth only makes him hotter.
Poor Esme, having to come back every time and having to re learn skill and memories. And how heartbreaking for Feliz for having to not only watch her demise but then wait for her return.

Lifeline is a vampire romance novella. As another reviewer has said and I completely agree.. think Buffy meets Interview with the Vampire with plenty of spice to quench your thirst.

While this type of book isn’t my normal read that blurb was intriguing and I’m so glad I took a chance on it. I love this authors writing style- she sucks you in from word one and keeps you flipping the pages.
This book is a quick read but it’s not lacking for plot, romance and steam. Felix and Esme are so obviously meant for each other- the chemistry, lust and love is palpable no matter the time apart. This story gives the reader past and present pov that paints the most perfect love story. I would definitely recommend this book.

I loved these two characters! I had to know what happened to them and where their journey would end.
No matter how long these characters are separated, they always seem to be drawn to one another. I loved seeing all the different times and what happened to them in each one. They are true soulmates.
The book had plenty of twists and a plot that kept me on the edge of my seat.

Lifeline is a wonderful short Paranormal romance. I promise between two lovers for eternity with a love over lifetimes.
Felix and Esme are both strong MCs with a will to survive and desire to be with one another, but fate has a way of ripping them apart. The steamy/spicy scenes were perfect but it was the love for one another that brought me into their story.
I love the dual POV seeing the events turn out that the other may not have knowledge of. The story spans throughout the centuries and lives of the MCs giving us more depth to each character and their personality. I definitely recommend this page turning romance.

I have always been a lover of vampire romance, and this one was no exception.
Esme and Felix's story had me captivated from the beginning - soulmates who who meet again in various lifetimes. This was an excellent short read full of the romance and plot twists you would expect from Evelyn's writing and I enjoyed every second of it.
If you enjoy vampire romance, I highly recommend reading this novella.

Lifeline is a great short paranormal story about two soulmates.
It's very romantic and erotic. What's swoon-worthy is that in every life they had the same strong emotions and no one could keep them apart. The characters were amazing and both were on the alpha side. I liked Felix a bit more because I like my book boyfriends dark and dangerous with a hint of a gentleman in them. ;)
The story was well-written and told from a dual pov. It's solely focused on the romance between the two characters. It alternates between past and present to showcase some scenes.
I enjoyed reading it and I highly recommend it to everyone.

Esme and Felix were the two that people here are destined for each other. This story was SPICY and thrilling all at the same time. I couldn’t read this book fast enough 😫 Going back and forth was lovely to see and hear the story of their time with and without each other 🖤 Love this book. I’m going to need this book on my shelf soon! This will either need to be a duet or a series. For sure.

Absolutely loved this! Felix and Esme’s unlikely love story lured me in from the first page and captivated me until the very end. It’s heartbreaking, moving, with plenty of spice, and wonderful characters that you’re sure to fall in love with. I couldn’t put it this one down and highly recommend.

This is a quick, but fantastic steamy paranormal romance read. I really enjoyed the writing, the storyline, and the characters. I would definitely recommend it and cannot wait for more from this incredible author!

I was lucky enough to receive this book as an arc.
I won’t lie in the first two chapters I was skeptical that I would enjoy this book as much as I did. Following Felix and Esmeralda story was riveting and had me hooked completely by the end of chapter 2.
Getting to read all the past and present for these two characters and how the book was laid out meant that it never felt like the story line was falling flat in places which made this book all the more enjoyable. Even though this is a fantasy romance I would more call it a dark fantasy romance and the romance part definitely isn’t lacking and I would place this firmly on the 4/5 chillies on the scale.
I would class this as a thoroughly enjoyable read and one I will happily read again in the future

Felix and Esme are bound together and always find each other. It seems that their lives always take the same path, until this last time. Can Felix and Esme find a way to save each other so they can be together for eternity.
In true Evelyn fashion this book is a great read that brings the reader right into the story. Highly recommend for those that enjoy fantasy and romance.

In all honesty, paranormal isn’t usually what I go for… and it took me a bit to figure out the specifics of Thai setup (because I find vampires are different in every storyline) but once I figured it out, it is a really beautiful and tragic love story that left me wanting more.

This was my first read by Evelyn and likely will not be my last. I don’t often read novellas because I’m always left feeling like there should of been more but this one was perfect. I read it in a day. A quick steamy vampire romance but a real love story. I love that it took place over centuries and had dual point of view chapters.

I get Buffy the vampire slayer vibes but add in a twist of fated mates and reincarnation of the FMC.
I loved being able to see back in time with how both were before Felix turned. How they always found their way back together.
I would love to see if there’s another story in the making to see where things go.
