Plant Daddy: Part 1 (The Submissive Diaries
It was only supposed to be for research.
My best friend and fellow romance novelist, Vi Lowe, told me I should join some dating websites to look around and get some inspiration for my next book–about a woman who joins a "sugar daddy" site to find someone to fund her plant addiction.
But then I spotted him, my gym crush, aka Gym Daddy, on a dating app for kinksters, and suddenly I'm struggling to identify what's for book research and what's for experiencing for myself.
Maybe I don't need to compartmentalize.
After all, they tell you to stick to writing what you know, right?
And what better way to learn about something until you truly know about that subject than to fully submerse yourself in it?
Plus, I know I said I was a born-again virgin after my divorce and was saving myself for Dream Daddy—aka Sir Jeremy—at Club Alias, but the likelihood of that happening...? Zilch. Nada. None.
Oh, and that guy who rescued me when my last dumpster dive for plant babies went a wee bit awry, who happened to set off all sorts of butterflies in my lady garden? I don't even have the lady-balls to go back to the store and find out Dumpster Daddy's real name, so no chance with him either.
No! I don't have a daddy kink. I just have a thing for older men. Especially those with salt-and-pepper beards, and tattoos, and big, muscly arms and—
Anyway. Let's hope Gym Daddy will find my weird awkwardness "endearing," and I can then seduce him into becoming not only my book muse, but maybe even my real-life Plant Daddy.

January 22, 2023I am so annoyed. I don't want to rate this because my frustration will override what I actually would rate this book. Might come back and add a rating later. (Edit: and now I see the title in GoodReads says Part 1 - which is not apparent on Amazon when borrowing through the Kindle app. UGH.)
It's a cliffhanger. I should have known at 86% when the main characters had still not met face to face. I hate cliffhangers, I don't read books that end in cliffhangers for a multitude of anxiety inducing reasons but when I do I make sure I know what I'm getting into. And I'm even more annoyed because I like these characters and this premise and I'm so freaking annoyed that I read this entire book and feel like I got nowhere.
This did not help my book slump at all.

Also....I AM IN THIS BOOK!!!!! Y'all!!! When KD posted her Tiktok about mentioning her top 20 followers, I was like cool, more people to follow...umm hello...I am one of them! My Tiktok handle (biblio_mama) is there! I cried and screamed when I saw it. I am so truly honored for this and can't wait to get my physical copy of it soon!!!!
This series can be read in order (which I prefer) but can also be ready by themselves.

I know this was a part one. But this was so disappointing to read this entire book and not have more than the first in person meeting. SMH.. like.. what?
I like it for the Own voices rep on ADHD and some of the other issues but the romance didn't even exist in this. How does this fit into the Blurred Lines series?!
What was taboo or pushing the line?
I feel compelled to read more but I also feel like I wasted my time with this one.

Read to 42% and it still didn’t have me hooked in any way, shape or form, sadly. I have read numerous books by this author and understand that she represents ADHD and anxiety in it’s true form in the characters in this book but unfortunately it was not for me. I think the long internal dialogues were provided to develop the character and her issues but they were too long and too frequent. To get almost halfway into a book with barely anything having happened made for a difficult read for me. Obviously I am in the minority compared to the other reviews and I will read this author again, just not part two of Plant Daddy.

Talk , talk , talk ...
Omg. Talk + no action = boring. Sienna is a supposed sub who doesn't want to pursue a relationship with a dom that she's been lusting after for awhile even though he wants her but he also is back sliding on pursuing her. This goes back and forth between these 2 for 3/4 of the book. Again - boring. Sorry KD. I just couldn't get into it.

May 14, 2025DNF at 53%. The main characters are really annoying, mainly from their inner dialogue explaining everything to the reader on their perspectives from why she doesn’t like 🍆 pics to Felix talking about how intelligent he is. I don’t even remember her name 🤣 I stopped in one of Felix’s chapters, otherwise he would be just as memorable.
Also the main characters have only had one encounter so far as strangers. We’re 53% into the book…I feel like the author basically put herself in as the main character because the woman is a smut author who is BFFs with another smut author, but she states she actually writes good plots into her stories unlike her friend who it’s no plot. Having the character go on a inner dialogue rambling about not liking 🍆 pics isn’t impactful to the plot IMO. And it’s not unique, so we don’t need an explanation. 🤣
I’m sure stuff was about to pick up, but I’ve wasted this much time already on the book and not drawn in. Life is too short to be reading something you don’t enjoy. 😊

I actually hate this ✨ZERO STARS✨
Terrible mental health rep to top off this dumper fire of a story- a lonely, Crazy, divorced lady having a mental breakdown, writers block for her BDSM novels with a new found obsession with dumpster diving for plants who meets a ER doctor who is a dominate in the bdsm world who hides his identity and works at Home Depot for fun in his spare time and happens to be her gym crush.
Oh and they match on a kinky dating app?
and no sex in pt 1 🤡
I came here for the smut not a crazy lady’s manic spiral. yet there is no Smut only crazy lady's manic spiral
The author attempts to make the characters self aware but it’s not working, it ends up throwing me out of the story because it leads to the author over explaining simple actions and thoughts done by the character.
This FMC has no friends, writers block and it just feels like the author is writing from her own experience which is fine but it feels like this is what the author is currently going through. like the author trauma dumped her personal and mental health issues into this story without even trying to blend it into the story, thinking it will be a cute personality trait for the FMC. it’s giving romanticization of manic episode vibes but done poorly. ADHD, OCD, autism, anxiety, writer block, BDSM, (I’m sure I am missing some) all stuff brought up but done so poorly and or glossed over. It genuinely Feels Like all these mental health disorders are thrown in for shock value , like the author just said fuck it, Let’s throw every mental health disorder I can think of that is currently trending and showcase it poorly, but at least it’s in the book so no one can be mad the characters aren't diverse. 🤮
I feel like the story is being told to me, not me living it through the characters eyes as they live it. I’m just being told what’s happening in giant info dumps
- Listen I’m all for bat shit crazy characters but this was done so poorly. And it feels so fake. The author is trying way too hard to make her seem crazy. It’s cringy.
-The first 20 pages is just info dumping the FMC life story.
-The MMC is trying to mentally diagnose her mental health issues even though he’s never talked to her.
-I just wanted a kinky Dom/Sub book. And their isn’t even sex in pt. 1
-I love the premise of a FMC who loves plants and wants a sugar daddy Dom/Sub relationship who will buy her all the plants she desires. But the story is an actual dumpster fire and doesn’t deliver what it promises.

-The FMC and the MMC don't spend any time together, they just text back and forth on KIK.
-This book feels like it's written by a boomer who is out of touch and is trying to fit in with the youth. The texting between the characters is cringe and full of way too many emojis and it's done through kik. (A sub plot of them texting is him getting her to download kik so they can text instead of using the dating app.) (who the F uses KIK still?)
- the book also focuses too much on non important scenes like her long lunch date with her best friend. And the last 30% of the book is just random text conversations from them and then FMC going “oh I'm inspired now, can’t talk, got to go write.”
-the story info dumps every little bit of info. There is no pacing, just info dumping and filler scenes with way too many unimportant details. Who the fuck cares about her best friend she is unimportant so why does it take 10+ pages to have a coffee date with her?
-absolutely unnecessary making this a duet. Cut the filler and it could be 1 good book instead of being broken down into two shitty books.

I heard about this one on TikTok and was hoping for a good age-gap with some spice and fun. This novel has no spice. They main characters don't even meet and there is SO MUCH inner monologue rambling. There is a level of description that is necessary to understand a character, but both Felix/Sir and Sienna ramble incessantly. I struggled to get through this, but once it ended on a cliffhanger needed to read the second one since it was also novella length.

Ok to be honest I'm still not really sure how I feel about this book. On the one hand the story had me hooked when it comes to the plot itself but I had a hard time really connecting with Sienna. I appreciated KD creating a character that was so real with her mental health struggles and ADHD and it really was a breath of fresh air but I did struggle to follow Sienna's thoughts and feelings about each of the Daddies along the way so I had to re-read some parts before moving forward in the story. Sienna is a romance writer who is in desperate need of a muse and I love that she finds it on the apps with someone she least expects, Gym Daddy, oh and her plants. I nearly died laughing at the dumpster scene in the book. What are the chances??? I have so many theories about all her daddies after reading this book and I'm intrigued on where this is all headed in the part 2!

Read it in one sitting but wasn’t really impressed. I really loved the other club alias books but this one was definitely different. I don’t have ADHD so I couldn’t relate to the character and felt the book spent a lot of time rambling and barely went anywhere. I’ll probably still read the sequel because I’m nosy, but I never really felt hooked while reading.

Good book, but not enough dialog. I don't mind hearing the inner thoughts of characters, but full pages of it?? No. Concept of the book fantastic! If you want to just read what the characters are thinking page after page this is the book for you.

I have to say I really enjoyed Plant Daddy: Part one. I enjoy every book I've read by K.D. Robichaux and this one I have to say is one of my favorite reads. I love how she writes about her life experiences, and her books are so relatable and so well written. I LOVE that KD wrote about real issues people face "disorders" and to show the readers they are just NORMAL people. It's so relatable cause I have dyslexia and anxiety myself and am almost sure I have ADD & OCD so I love that I can relate even more to these characters. I can say none of her books are hard to read. Plant Daddy I had on my TBR list since I saw this one listed, and I have to say this book doesn't disappoint.

First off, let me say I’ve read all of KD Robichaux’s books and I’ve LOVED every one of them, but this one personally is so special. I have never related to a character as much as I have with Sienna.
We learn through her story that she has OCD and struggles with intrusive thoughts and rituals which is something I struggle with myself and it was so amazing to have someone shed light on Obsessive Compulsive Disorder in its reality and not just a cleaning obsession.
I love the way KD correlates mental health struggles with bdsm. You can really tell she takes so much time researching all aspects of the lifestyle and their effects on mental health.
Now this is specifically for KD, you are KILLING me with this clifhanger! I have already read Plant Daddy twice and January 31st is still so far away 😩

OH MY GAAAAWWWWD
I have read almost every one of KD's books, and thought that none of them could ever outdo the "realness" of The Blogger Diaries; I mean, hello, it's all based on her life, right? And I completely identified with a lot of it, which is why it's such a great book. Surely, nothing can top that, right?
Oh. Oh, no... no. Please, read on.
Plant Daddy is almost uncomfortably real, even for a reader like me, who only has a fraction of the "disorders" Sienna has (and its entirely apparent that KD writes herself into her heroines in one facet or other--keep that in mind). Trying to keep reading while fighting the deepening feelings of empathy and sympathy and wanting nothing more than to reach through my Kindle to grab KD and give her a massive hug (consensually, of course!) was only made easier by the character development of Gym Daddy, and hoping that they will take this budding relationship out of the virtual space and into the "real world." And then, with the screech of anti-lock brakes... End of part one. I seriously feel like I have whiplash!
To put it bluntly, KD I LOVE YOU AND I HATE YOU SO MUCH FOR THE CLIFFHANGER, AND DAMN IT WHY IS JANUARY 31ST SO FAR AWAY?! 😫
So yes, I love this book and I'm anxiously awaiting part two (and three? Four?!).

Being an avid KD Robichaux reader and a big fan I was so excited to pick up her newest release and dive right into a familiar feeling of love at the sense of her writing😊. Her books get me so easily hooked and make it physically hard to put down lol. Sienna’s personality I love, and the relatability of her mental health struggles made me fall in love with her right away. As someone who struggles with anxieties, intrusive thoughts, etc.. I felt so personally seen and connected to Sienna . I also really enjoy the references to previous characters of her club alias series😍🥰!! Plus mentions of different shows and such, like American horror story which just so happens to be one of my favorite shows, it was great I loved it! A letter from the author at the end just made this book even that much better. To know the depths of realness and personal touch she wrote the story from made it even more beautifully written and touching. It’s not often you find characters that feel so real it’s like looking in a mirror. I loved this story, the characters connections, the realness of mental health struggles, everything! Can’t wait to read the next one and continue the journey along side them wherever it may take them🥰❤️.

I am a fan of KD Robichaux and her Club Alias world, it’s a world I love to read about but not sure I could ever be honest enough to be a part of. But this is what makes her books great, she brings to life a world that isn’t for everyone and makes it more real.
This isn’t KD’s usual storytelling, this is deeper, this is an honest telling of characters with struggles that are sometimes debilitating, and how they deal with them with the hopes of coming out somewhat a better version of themselves. This is the first part of this duet and it just leaves me wanting for more. I cannot wait to see where Sienna ends up and who is by her side at the end.
If you have never read the Club Alias books you are truly missing out, because KD doesn’t write gratuitous BDSM books, she writes emotional stories that showcase BDSM in a honest way that takes the taboo imagery away. It makes you think, it makes you blush, but it also makes you grab the very next book!
Read this series, just read it.

I have read all of the Club Alias books and Plant Daddy is by far my favorite! I always read the next book and think I can’t love the characters any more than the last and somehow I do. I think that Sienna and Felix will be my favorites for a very long time. I don’t know the last time I read a book I felt so strongly connected to or seen by. I loved that it wasn’t an insta-love (even though I love that too) because it just felt right for the characters. I have been obsessed with this series and this world that has been built around Club Alias and Plant Daddy just made me fall deeper in love. You can see from the writing that this was a very personal book and the authenticity of the characters and their struggles with the symptoms of their neuro-spiciness made this anxiety riddled ADHD woman feel very seen in the best way. I truly can’t wait for part 2 and like she said in the acknowledgements almost wish it was a longer series as well!

I was Kayla's dance teacher when she was young. She would come into the studio with those long beautiful legs and grinning ear to ear, thrilled to be in class. Dance seemed to give her an outlet to that high energized, happy personality. To watch her dance ... she was in her sanctuary, free to be herself without judgement.
These words from Plant Daddy Part 1 bring tears to my eyes. It is refreshing to read this authors heart-felt feelings about her mental illness(es). The struggles are real. But your friends are right ... they make you the wonderful you that you are. Your messages come through clearly in each book you've written. Besides telling page turner stories, you always touch on deep subjects that helps others.
I am so proud to know you!

I’ve read all of KD Robichaux’s books. She’s my insta-read, as in drop whatever I’m supposed to be doing and read a new release…. Like, ignore life responsibilities. But I’m also a fast reader so I know it’ll be okay. This isn’t the first time I’ve read a book by her and be left on a cliff hanger (Hello, Confession Duet!)…. The wait is the worst but also I know it’ll be worth it.
No spoilers, but this is my new favorite. I’ve never related to a character more. I always know with KD’s books I’ll be pulled into the story. She has a way with words. I know I’ll snort-laugh, smile, and giggle like a school girl. I also know I’ll cry when I’m meant to or blush when I should.
But this story. This one. Oh man! Y’all are in for a treat!

Never related more to a character!
Man! I felt like someone has been in my head while writing about this heroine! It was fascinating seeing a character like me! Who thinks like me and acts like me! And I absolutely love her! And I love how Felix is coming across and understands who and what she needs. I am anxiously waiting for the 2nd book! I want to know how this ends!!

Not the usual KD romance
I absolutely adore KD Robichaux's writing. She has a way of pulling in and keeping you going without realizing it. While this isn't a "normal" i book from KD, it is one I resignate with. I didn't like the instant ending. We're on a subject, and it just ended. I understand why, and I am looking forward to part 2!

Can You be Edged By a Book??
I’m dead! I’ve passed out and I’m no longer breathing!! I went in completely blind and did not expect the massive f^^cking cliffhanger!!

Unexpected
I have read all the club alias stories..and love them all. This one is no different, can't wait until Jan 31st for the delayed gratification of the next installment in sienna's story.
I really appreciate the authors authenticity regarding mental illness, being single , dating apps, anxiety, and learning how to be yourself.

Just… wow!
Never in my life have I related to a character as much as I do Sienna. There were times where I swear she and I were one in the same! The intrusive thoughts, the voices, the OCD. Truly a fantastic set of characters and I absolutely cannot wait for part two in a few days! I literally laughed out loud a few times. Definitely well worth the read!

As someone who also has ADHD, this book IS SO RELATABLE and has been spitting truth, real life scenarios and bringing up a bunch of my own insecurities. And I love anything that has characters with neuro-divergence - its more realistic! Especially for me.
BTW I'd be on board with this becoming its own series - H*ll to the YES!! Love you KDR.

THE FMC
I genuinely loved this book so much. The MMC is the kinds of Dom that...well, sounds like the type I'd get along with. The FMC is super freaking relatable, even if you're not an author. It's such a great story and I can't wait for the next one. Damn Cliffy. Haha

The more books in this series that come out the better they get! Doc, blackmail, and this one are my top 3 in the series. I love that this one is giving more time in the build up of the relationship. I can’t wait for the next one!
