Linus is having a Christ-massive problem. His cousins have all found their fated mates and their sprite magic is making beautiful things happen in the small town of Mistletoe Falls they call home. His magic? Well, it’s making a fa-la-la-la-lasting impression…and not in a good way.
No need to Claus a scene!
When Colby’s best friend runs away to Mistletoe Falls, Colby follows. From the moment he arrives, things are an elf-ing mess. Strange things keep occurring in and around the Tinseled Inn, all involving its bewitching owner, Linus. Colby is determined to find out Linus’s secret, and if he doesn’t end up getting his chestnuts roasted, he may discover that Linus will make more than his Christmas bright.
If you love fated mates, Christmas hijinks, and magical elves, er, sprites, who make the season bright, this holiday romance will help you have a tree-mendous holiday season.
Macy Blake believes in unicorns and fairies, in moonbeams and stardust, and that happily ever after comes in all colors of the rainbow. When she’s not busy at the day job, she loses herself in paranormal romance, living vicariously through her favorite sexy fictional heroes. These days you can often find her pounding away at the keyboard, trying to capture the magic of her own worlds.
this could have been my favorite of the series besides Obie's. you have Colby the laywer and Linus the innkeeper and they butt heads at the beginning but seeing it switch was cute.
all of these are very instalove but in the spirit of christmas it made me smile haha. these were a cute holiday read! something that would be perfect with a warm cup of cocoa in the winter time!
I'm sure these have got shorter as the series has gone on and this one had the least amount of heat between the two men.
But, it's also one of the funniest and has a cute baby goat who stole the scene every time she appeared on page.
I liked Colby and his utter confusion about what was going on in Mistletoe Falls, Linus himself made me laugh with his antics and they were super sweet once they'd worked out what was going on.
I very much appreciated the special guest appearance at the end, which I won't spoil but which confirms these books are set in the wider Chosen Universe .
In the final installment of the Christmas Sprites quartet, Linus finally gets his mate. There’s a lot of fun in this one, stemming mostly from Linus’s antics and his delightfully cheery attitude. While the puns are still over the top and the world building sparse, there’s a magic to this book that made it really enjoyable.
My favorite part of this story is just how opposite Linus and Colby are. And yet the way they compliment each other is really nice. Colby is a serious man who is very thorough in all that he does. Linus, conversely, is impulsive and fun loving, and generally has an incredibly positive attitude. It works so well as they both bring out the good in each other, while also tempering some of the other qualities. Colby gets Linus to think about what he’s getting up to, and Linus brings Colby out of his seriousness. The two work really well together and even though their romance is a bit less blatant than the others in the series, it works really well.
Great end to the series with Linus getting his mate. I loved the miscommunication banter between Linus and Colby. It made for some really funny moments I felt for Linus when he was so devastated about not having a mate. I think the quickness of them getting together was a bit different as they didn’t really have an attraction like the others but it was a comedy of sorts Good afternoon read
The fourth book of Christmas Sprites - Linus - sees the befuddled man pining for a mate of his own and setting up a massive pyre to make a tribute for the goddess to encourage his own love life. Along the way, he meets Tate's best friend and lawyer, Colby, and "rescues" a little goat, Matilda. This one is high on the nuttiness but lots of fun. And the delightful extra guests who arrive at the Inn for Winter Solstice as well as the narrative hook, is more than worth the time reading. It's joyful, silly, sweet and light.
The best of the series IMO. It was just snappy and cute enough to make up for the other books.
Do yourself a favor, and space out reading the series. I think reading them all at once was an issue. Each book is pretty much happening concurrently, so you get some overlap in the storytelling. That made it seem like nothing was happening, or that I was reading the same book over and over with difference characters. Each book was different, but my pitiful brain latched onto the similarities.
So read and enjoy, but maybe space it out during the holiday season. LOL.
I had really hoped for just a bit more from the final installment of the series, but this one, well, I don't think either of them ever even felt an attraction.
All their little adventures were still fun to watch though. Matilda stole the show for sure.
It was a cute Christmas series set in the Chosen Universe and I did enjoy reading all four of them throughout December. It was fun having them released throughout the month.
Off to a good start this year. Belated christmas book. This one made me happy. Linus was chaos. Felt sorry for Colby, but it was fun and the goat added to the mess. Nice to see Sam and Vaughn there at the end. Linus' magic was interesting, he felt like an all year round sprite rather than a christmas one. Such a cute couple.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This series started off so strong, but the last 2 books have been a disappointment. How are you going to have a series where the first 2 couples have intimate moments and the last 2 barely kiss?
I have loved Linus from the beginning and seeing him get his happily ever after with city boy Colby was super sweet. I loved how Colby just went with the flow as Linus devised all sorts of plans. An absolute joyous series for the holiday season.
Well, not the ending I was expecting. I was thinking more of a "bang" and this was kinda NOT?
Even though this was by far my most unfavorite series set in this Universe... it still had its moments and I look forward to seeing what we get from this author in the future... my "funny bone" depends on it! LOL!!!
Not really the best one for me, I just didn't like Lines that much but I did want to know how everything ended. Generally the stories were cute, some funnier than others but overall I liked the series, specially because it gave a bit of laugh at a really stressing time.
When it became evident that the four books were overlapping and intertwined, I decided to read all four before writing my reviews. The stories take place in the Chosen Universe though there is little reference to the fact.
Welcome to Mistletoe Falls where Solstice and Christmas are the town’s raison d’etre. The MCs, all sprites, only know that magic has been waning in the human realm. When four newcomers arrive in Mistletoe Falls within a two week stretch and start interacting with our MCs, the spite’s magic begins to manifest itself in strange ways. (Did no one from the larger Universe ever think to let the guys in on the knowledge that Fated Mates are happing all over?)
Each book is primarily about one couple, but we get glimpses of other interactions throughout, and those hints of what’s to come are explored in future books as seen through the eyes of those MCs.
Nyall: At first I was puzzled by the tone of the book, as it is nowhere near as serious as the other books from this universe. So. Many. Christmas. Puns. Nyall runs the local bakery, Mistledough and meets reporter Aaron who wants to do a story on the unusual town. Spark fly (literally) and the two feel the trope known as insta-love. I usually roll my eyes at the notion, but magic makes their mutual attraction.
Oberon: Sprite Oberon is the town handyman, and is hired to help the new local vet, Miles Lane and his adorably cheerful daughter (through surrogacy), Holly and their puppy, Ivy. This is probably my favorite of the four books. The chemistry feels more organic in this one for me.
Eldon: Sprite Eldon owns the local holiday/craft store Deck the Walls. It’s next door to the now closed (and sold) Snowda Shoppe. In this story we get to know the unnamed man from earlier as Tate. Tate has secrets of his own, and he loves to tease Eldon. Somehow there snarky flirtation grows though neither can really understand why. (It’s magic, duh).
Linus: Linus owns and runs the Tinseled Inn, the B&B in town. He’s highly dramatic and oblivious to the chaos he creates (which I found annoying). When Tate’s BFF, Colby comes to town. He and Linus don’t exactly hit it off, but little by little as Linus drops his bravado and let’s Colby know what’s really in his heart, the two find a kindred sense of unity. This story gets bonus points for the cameo at the end, which I will not spoil.
All in all, the series is fluffy and fun. VERY low angst and rather adorable. They make a welcome (if tonally different) addition to the Chosen One Universe.
Linus finishes out Blakes’ heartwarming Christmas Sprites series and it’s a magical end I’d hoped for.
Linus, the last of the Christmas sprite cousins to find a mate, has always thought he’d be the first one to find the perfect one to love and spend the rest of his life with.
Instead, the fumbling, large-hearted innkeeper has stood by and watched, a tad jealously, as the other three found their mates, and got their magical “glow up”.
So Linus makes a plan to change his luck. And Colby, Tate’s best friend (and Eldon’s mate) comes to town, looking for Tate, and to check out the mysterious village he’s living in.
With all the other couples and inhabitants of Mistletoe Falls involved in the growing relationship between Colby and Linus, mischief and magical hijinks soon abound! From tiny “borrowed “ goats to Easter eggs and bunnies out of season, this is a heartwarming story, full of charming moments, happy memories, and a couple fated for HEA!
I totally recommend this no angst, heartwarming holiday quartet of magical tales!
Linus and Colby's story was the sweetest of all of the four books in this series. Linus is hurting in his heart as his three other cousins find their mates. Linus is a sprite with ADHD for sure, but very smart. Gifted with a penchants for crafts and Christmas especially, he sets out to make something in honor of the goddess to try and make her forgive him for whatever he did wrong in order for his magic to be wonky and not finding his mate and love. Colby is a brilliant lawyer and Tate's best friend. A man who does things by the law and has a ton of common sense...which Linus lacks. The two fall into adventures together as Linus drags Colby everyone and doing everything that just confuses the poor man. Colby however is determined to keep Linus from killing himself or others. Will these men find what Linus is beseeching the goddess for or will Colby be too busy keeping Linus out of trouble or Linus getting into trouble to see what may just go up in smoke before they see what the goddess has Sprite-zered right in their faces?
I liked this story but TBH I didn't feel the chemistry between the MCs here. I also didn't quite get their attraction or even why they were attracted to each other. Colby, Tate's lawyer friend stumbled around in a fog for a few days as he recuperated from a headache apparently brought on by too many hours awake and high on sugary energy drinks and was totally clueless to anything happening around him. And Linus, the last of the sprites who didn't yet find his mate, was very verbally abrasive to Colby and came across as very negative for the first half of the book. He was centered on trying to find a way to get his magic back and moaning about not having found his mate. They didn't click, IMO.
It's possible that I had set my standards high for this book as I looked forward to a capstone piece after having given 4 and 5 stars to the previous books. And, other than a few fun puns and a goat that I found more annoying than endearing, the story was bland and felt more like a rush to end a series than a sweet romance like the others were.
Felt rushed. Needed more editing. These books overlap and this one didn’t quite fall in the timeline, so again, that kind of reinforces the “rushed” feeling. For some reason Colby felt different in Eldon’s book, I don’t know, his personality was almost cheery. He came off grumpy in this one. Linus is the comedic relief character, but he was just a tad too naive, too innocent. Which leads me to the romance, where was it? Where did it go? Because they had zero sparks, zero chemistry, nothing. If this book is supposed to be the last in the series - wow, that would be incredibly disappointing. I don’t know, this one just didn’t quite do it for me.
And to add insult to injury, here I find YET ANOTHER mention of the kids aka Draco’s eggs, but nothing more. Come on !!! I’m dying here, I want to know more, I want to see them parent the kids, I need it like idk, freaking chocolate or something.
Your magic has gone wonky. Can a baby goat and an uptight lawyer be the cure?
What a magical final book in this series! It is super sweet story that doesn't rely on sexy times to make it enchanting. There is even a short crossover appearance by the Jerriick's. But. This book belongs Linus. Not mated, lonely desperate. Enter Colby, Tate's best friend. Hilarity ensures. First shamrocks, then Easter eggs and bunnies. Look for a pyre, twitches, matching sweaters, and the most adorable baby goat. Come. Join Linus and Colby as the fall in love. Watch Colby's heart thaw and embrace the holiday spirit. And a kiss to remember! You are just going to love this book. I read it on one session... it is that good! Please read the rest of the series in order. This is one continuous story, taking place in the same time frame.
I don’t rate books I don’t finish because it doesn’t seem fair. Even though this was short and I probably only had an hour left in it (I got about 40% through), I just couldn’t finish it. I was struggling through most of what I read. The characters didn’t have any chemistry, they were annoyed with each other which when skimming to the end - how do they suddenly love each other? Then there was some goat being involved? I didn’t get it. This felt rushed to conclude the series. Overall as a series I would give this 3 stars. Some of the books were good and some not as good. This last one was dull.
Okay, in real life Linus would make be absolutely berserk, he's so scatterbrained and just assumes everyone knows what it is in his brain, but reading his story, I found it very amusing. I could understand Colby's stress in trying to figure things out and ... baby goat. So while it's pretty chaotic and crazy, I enjoyed Linus and his drama so it rounded things out nicely. I wanted to actually see what Tate and Colby's solution was to their family issues and I would have loved to see all the new in-laws show up in town, but on the whole, these are light fun and amusing stories.
Christmas has passed, but I'm still reading fluffy Christmas easy-read books. Macy Black has written four books about Christmas Sprites. They are just cute, easy reads that make us smile. I'm so happy that Linus finally gets his story.
Linus, Part owner of the Inn but runs the place. He's so upset and jealous that all his cousins have found their fated mates and he hasn't, so he has this hare-brain idea. Tatum William Bixby III's best friend and lawyer, Colby, comes to town. Colby helps Linus in his weird little rituals. Love, Matilda the goat and pyres. What more could you want on a grey, cold winter's day?
Linus was the perfect end cap for the Christmas Sprites stories. Linus is the only unmated sprite at the books beginning and he's tired of being jealous over his cousin's luck. Colby needs to make some changes in his life, even if he's not quite sure what the changes need to be. They bond over the building of a Soltice pyre. And clash. Their banter is sweet and at this point you can only go with the puns. Sweet. Lite. Fun.
While I like the romance idea between Linus and Colby, This seemed very rushed and short. Like I read this in just about 2 hours. I did really like the ideas that book had and it over all made sense. It just did not feel like the grande finale I think that the series should have. I also do not think that it is. It is not a bad book. I would tell anyone wanting a fast Yule romance that this is sweet but it could have been a bit more. This was a very COZY romance.
I honestly think, if I knew Linus personally, he would drive me bonkers. But for all that, he’s also very sweet and caring and thoughtful. This was a lovely finale to this Christmas story, and very nice to see the Jerricks to tie it all in to the wider universe.
Great wrap up to the series. While Linus drove me a bit nuts with his obnoxiousness, and I don't know how Colby found it charming at first, they ended up being a cute couple. I'm glad we got a little more explanation to everything, but I do wish I knew what plan Tate and Colby were working out to stay but also have their jobs. Cute holiday series overall.
This was a great ending to the series! I wold have loved to have a zillion more details and have this be a full length novel, but this was still great! Colby and Linus were perfect together, and I loved that Colby also helped Tate come to terms with both parts of his life. And then, the magic ending and the HEA for everyone - perfection!
