Most people get souvenirs while they’re on vacation. Ty got a mug shot…and met the woman of his dreams...
An electronics expert at Six Points Security, Ty Flint is used to danger. He just didn’t expect to find it while in south Florida for a little fun and sun. But a broken down car strands him in Okalatchee, a small town with deep, dark secrets that it doesn’t want to share with a city boy.
He also didn’t expect his explosive attraction to Lola Bell, the owner of the only bar in town. With her Yankee accent and no-nonsense attitude, the sexy woman sticks out like a sore thumb…and attracts danger like a magnet. Powerful people want her gone, and they’ll do anything to make that happen. But when Ty steps in to thwart their plans, he finds himself on the wrong side of the law. Now he’ll use all of his skills to keep Lola safe, but winning her love might be the toughest mission he’s ever undertaken…
This was a formidable story with a likable main couple. Not sure I would want to eat in a restaurant with the name of “Swamp”, but it was the place to be in this small town located in the Florida Everglades. So popular, people were willing to kill over it. I thought I knew what direction the author would take this book, but there was a shocker. There is a good balance between the romance, sex, and suspense. This book wet my appetite to read more about the Flint family. You could feel the love, fun, and loyalty of these siblings.
Ty and Lola burn up the pages and Southern Alphas continues to be a hit series. I love knowing that I am going to be taken on a fun ride when I read a book by Lori Sjoberg. Adventure, passion, and sexy as hell heroes. Yummy!
I received a copy of Danger in a Dive Bar by Lori Sjoberg in exchange for an honest review. Note: this review contains spoilers! All Tyler Flint wanted was to get to Sarasota and drink beer with his buddies. And then go home to the hustle and bustle of city life. But he had to wait for his car to get fix so he was stuck in Okalatchee in a bar called the Swamp. When his hopes of one of his buddies picking him up is squashed, he spends the night in one of the cabins behind the Swamp. Or at least part of the night. Hearing breaking glass, he heads back to the Swamp in his skivies and breaks up two rough necks trying to rob the place. But when the sheriff gets there, instead of arresting the 2 bad guys, he arrests all 3! That was the sheriff's first mistake. The second was getting the judge to make a condition of Ty’s bail that he had to stay in Okalatchee until the trail. The sheriff didn’t realize the last person he wanted around was a member of the Flint family, all highly educated, trained, and very protective of those they love and Ty is falling fast for Lola, the owner of the Swamp. His final mistake is thinking he and his goons can take out Ty and his brother. Big mistake! This is a wild ride in the swamps of Florida with intrigue and suspense, lust and love, fist fights and gun shoot outs. Why does the sheriff want to buy the property from Lola? What is the land trust? Will Lola and Ty find happiness in the Swamp? You’re going to have to read it Danger in a Dive Bar to find out!

I enjoyed this story very much. Tyler Flint, a security expert is driving to meet up with friends and brothers when his car breaks down in the Everglades. He has no signal on his phone so he has to start walking to find help. The local Sherriff finds him and takes him into town so that the garage can help him, and as they cannot get the part until the next day he is forced to stay in town overnight. The guys from the garage suggest he gets dinner at The Swamp, a bar / restaurant owned by Lola, and the fun and mayhem begins. It is quite a short, easy read, but well-written, and the fast pace of the story pulls you along.
A worthwhile edition to the series. I received an ARC from the author in return for an honest review, all opinions expressed are entirely my own.
I loved this book! Ty is an amazing guy, knew it from book one but getting to know him better was such a treat! And Lola is a wonderful female character, I love how they had that balance between him taking care of her but also knowing when she can take care of herself. Perfect depiction of the alpha male and his sassy female - strong independent, protective. But also respectful and enabling, being vulnerable with each other helping them grow and become stronger as individuals through their relationship. Wish we had more depictions of these sort of relationships. As always the heat was off the charts, the suspense was great as was the story telling. Recommend this read 100%
Danger in a Dive Bar is a romance with suspense, betrayal, and second chances, mixed with small-town intrigue. Lola is strong-willed, intelligent, determined, and definitely not a damsel in need of saving. At the same time, she is feminine, vulnerable, and not averse to a knight on a white horse giving her a helping hand. Ty is...well...*sigh* *drool*..my idea of an almost perfect example of a knight on a white horse. Yummy!
If you are looking for a well-written story with twists and turns to keep you guessing and likable, developed characters then Danger in a Dive Bar is the book for you. I urge you to read the entire Southern Alphas series.
Absolutely love this series. With each book there's more to find out. It's like a treasure chest with all the different characters. Now we've moved onto the Southern Alphas series it's hitting up. Each brother is swoon worthy, but different, with hang ups and quirks. Ty Altho the youngest brother is no different. When he happens upon this small town and Lola nothing will ever be the same again. As with all the Flint brothers he wants to protect the woman he's come to love. Full of action, drama and intrigue. Absolutely can't recommend this book and series highly enough.
Fantastic standalone and a great addition to the series! Lori Sjoberg consistently delivers wonderfully written romantic stories with passion and suspense. I love Ty and Lola's story. These two characters are strong, smart, and caring. I love how Lori writes characters you like and respect. If you are looking to read a romance with characters who are mature (regardless of age), have a strong moral code, and can melt your Kindle with their chemistry, you can't go wrong with this series! I volunteered to read an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.
This is a great story - entertaining, steamy, full of suspense, wonderfully built. Loved the relationship between Ty and Lola, so supportive without causing either to give up on part of themselves, especially considering how pure alpha Ty is (and yes - a smart, strong guy who knows how and when to give his lady space even when he wants to fiercely protect her is ultimate alpha in my eyes) it is such a breath of fresh air in the romance world. I am thoroughly enjoying the Six Point Security Series.
The first half or so of the book was interesting but the ending was really abrupt. It felt like the author decided she's met her page quota and stopped writing.
After her father left her and her mother years ago, Lola inherits a bar in Florida. The “ Yankee “ has to stay and work the bar for a certain amount of time before it’s hers, free and clear. Her stepbrother, who is the sheriff, is not happy about it and tries to get her to sell. Ty is on his way to meet his buddies and party on a yacht but his car breaks down and ends up in Okalatchee. He goes to Lola’s bar and thinks he’s found the woman of his dreams. He has nowhere to stay and Lola offers one of her cabins. Ty hears something and someone is vandalizing Lola’s bar. The cops come and Ty gets arrested too. He has to stay in town until the trial, which is three weeks away. Ty and Lola get close and Ty puts in a security system around the property to keep her safe. But her stepbrother still wants the property but Lola wants to know why. Ty helps her find the answer and when they are attacked, Ty will do anything to protect Lola.
Excellent story. Mystery. A little sex. Action. Lola has been burned before by a guy and has tall walls around her heart. Ty ( I believe) is restless and ready to settle but Lola’s is six hours away from his family but love wins out in the end.
Danger in a Dive Bar is book 6 of the Southern Alpha series by Lori Sjoberg and another great read.
Ty Flint’s car breaks down in a small Florida town and while waiting for his car to be fixed he ends up at a bar called The Swamp and finds lots questions but no answers and a beautiful woman named Lola who has secrets that he wants to know and find out what this unexpected attraction he has for her.
Lola came to this small town to claim her inheritance which includes land, a 14 foot alligator named Reggie and the bar called The Swamp. Being from up north and certain people do not want her there she is attracting danger to herself and her employees from some very powerful people who want the land and bar but she is fighting back.
When Ty is arrested for destroying her bar (which he didn’t do) he decides to put all his skills to work to and with the help of this family to keep Lola safe and keep those so called powerful people from trying to destroy all she has….but will he be able to also win her love or does she just want a fling while he is in town???
Ready to hit the drinks with some mates, Ty wasn't happy about needing to spend the night in Okalatchee after his car broke down. Getting arrested in his boxes also wasn't his idea of a fun time. Regardless of this disappointment, once he got the sense that Lola was in danger, he couldn't walk away. This is the second in the Six Point Security series and I am officially hooked on the Flint family. Ty is the youngest boy of the family and is exactly the sort of book boyfriend that you would love to be stranded in your town. Lola was a great female protagonist and I enjoyed reading her thoughts and backstory as well. I really like the way that Sjoberg enables their protagonists to be strong individuals and not two dimensional. I also enjoyed the writing style with the tongue in cheek comments amongst siblings and the respect ingrained in the good characters. I had a couple of unanswered questions upon completing the book, but nothing that took away from my enjoyment amd can't wait to read the next in the series.
There are a lot of great elements to this book, but I felt like I was reading a tv spin-off story in the series instead of the main feature attraction. I like the female protagonist as she’s got a great head on her shoulders and treats people right. The male protagonist is a good guy who steps up to do the right thing. The mystery behind the conflicts is logical and works well. The feelings between the characters are genuine and believable. The restaurant setting is described in great detail. So what’s wrong with the book? It lacks stakes. The characters have problems and summarily deal with them. Then it’s over. Slap the dust off their hands and move on. Too easy too fast. The epilogue, instead focusing on the protagonists’ HEA, is a jump to the next spin-off character and his damsel in distress. Sigh.
When I started the book I liked it. Both the H/h seemed likable and the book seemed like a keeper. But then the characters didn’t seem to be true to themselves and the story dragged showing. The heroine worked so hard ALL the time. One minute she was standoffish to the hero and then she was available to the hero, this happened several times. She was unjustly persecuted by people in the town and the residents were not fleshed out.
I leave the book with her being a martyr and the hero and his family being formulaic portrayed as tough guys with hearts of gold just too cheesy. It was slow and the ending was abrupt after the slog of getting to the end.
This is a fast read with a feisty heroine and a hero who admires that she's a woman who can handle her own business. That doesn't mean it's not nice to have a man like Ty watching your back (and in your bed), though! While I enjoyed most of the action, I found the dialogue repetitive, the stakes a bit of a reach, and the climactic scene wasn't much of one (although there was one surprise, the bad guys would never have approached the way they did). There was no 'black moment' for them as a couple. The whole thing was a bit too light for my tastes. And my pet peeve: don't make an epilogue about the next book/couple. That's called an excerpt! 3.5 stars.
This was a really interesting book about Lola having to run the Swamp bar and restaurant that her dad left to her. Lola's step-brother is trying to get her to sell the Swamp. Ty has car trouble and is stuck in Lola's small town. When a break-in happens at the Swamp and Ty is blamed for it and has to stay in town for three weeks. Ty decides to help Lola fix up the Swamp so it is safer for her. Ty and Lola have a definite attraction. Ty and Lola make a great team!
Security expert Ryan is arrested on a false charge of breaking up a small-town dive bar, but soon realizes that there is more to the small town problems than Lola, the bar's owner can cope with.
Decent story with a twist at the end that I almost didn't see coming. There was a running gag with her name & the jukebox that sometimes was annoying, but also kind of cute.
I have really enjoyed this series and this book was no exception. I loved the connection between Ty and Lola and there was plenty of story to keep me interested. The book was well-written and an entertaining read.
I was really impressed by this story and I'm looking forward to reading about the remaining brothers in future books. More please!
Oh my I loved this story, once I started I couldn't put it down. Ty sounds so yummy. Lola is one lucky girl to have captured his heart. I am just glad that Wade was there to help back Ty. You definitely surprised me with the ending. Thank you also for not having errors. I have been reading some books full of them, it was nice to finally read a book without any. Thank you.
This is Book 2 in the series and already the author has run out of fun ideas. This was full of small southern tropes (all bad). The ending was so abrupt I’m not sure what happened or why the bad guys were trying to kill the good guys. I figured that out but there was no denouement at all. Insta love. Get me out of Hicksville. Yawn.
Great character Ty, Lola and all the other cast of characters just make you want to read til the end! Great twist towards the end of the book! Looking forward to reading the rest of the series!! This is s new author for me and I will be looking for more books written by Lori Sjoberg!!!
Ty's car breaks down near a small town. He meets Lola who owns the local bar. He gets arrested when he trys to capture the two guys tearing up her bar. Weird things keep happening, so he and Wade put in a security system. Lola and Ty become involved.
I liked the running gag on her name. There were several other humorous side notes as well. The romance was not rushed into like so many are these days. The conclusion was expected but had a few twists. A perfect combination of romantic suspense.
Good read that ambles along quite nicely. Characters take a bit of time to warm up to but once things get going you settle down into the story. I’d have liked a bit more information and retribution towards the guys causing all the trouble but good read.
What a great book. Loved the characters, could picture them, yummy leading man. Haven't read books by this author before, but will definitely read more and recommend to my friemds
