Obsessed Mates #5

Her Second Chance Wolf

Rate this book
Elinor Back in high school, Blake Waldgrave was my nemesis. Now he’s back in my life. Hotter than ever, and… interested in me??? I had a rocky past—dumped in a cardboard box by my family, and so broken I’d never be able to shift. But I’ve got my sh*t together now. I’m no longer the strange little bird that nobody wanted.
Sure, I’m never gonna turn into a swan, but I’ve got a bunch of crow feathers protecting my heart, and people who depend on me.
And there’s no space in my life for my old bully.
Even if he’s desperate to make amends.
Even if he sets me alight with every burning glance.
Even if he keeps insisting we’re fated to be together… Blake She was the girl who took down the whole football team.
And I’ll never forgive myself for the way we treated her in return.
She was mine. My beast knew it right away. But I was young, dumb and cruel. And I let her get away.
Now she’s back in my life—spikier, cooler and more beautiful than ever.
Fate has given me a second chance, and there's no way I'm going to waste it this time.

This is a totally SAFE, steamy insta-love romance, featuring an obsessed, possessive hero. If you love reading about reformed high-school bullies, and second-chance romances, you’ll love Blake and Elinor's story.
Tons of feels, dirty talk and a sweet HEA!

This one was a fail for me.

Ive read other books by this author and really loved them, but this one missed the mark. I loved the heroine, her oddness and quirkiness and her prickly vulnerability and self-consciousness. And I would’ve liked the hero, if he had been celibate.

They meet in HS, and the hero recognizes the heroine as his mate, but he’s so shocked by it, he thinks he’s wrong and ignores it. He then goes and slimes around with a bunch of sleazy females who will spring open their legs to him with no hesitation. Grossssss.

This would’ve brought the swoon had the hero kept his dick out of other women. But he didnt, so yet another romance fail. The only reason I’m giving it 2 stars is because the heroine wasn’t a slimeball too. She holds onto her virtue and innocence and doesn’t throw it away on losers.

Not safe. Hero is a manwhore and slimes around with skanks. Heroine is a virgin and belongs only to her hero. No others, no sharing, no abuse. HEA but no epilogue far out (only a few months) and no babies.

Odd bird out

It’s so funny how life often comes full circle, and how the most defining moment is often lost to time…..until it isn’t. I am so happy to see Elinor get her story! She’s loving and caring to all of those around her, but she has been more of an island than a part of the family. Until a chance encounter and a blast from the past starts to set her world right. Blake is amazing in his ability to overcome his own challenges from the past and allowing his little bird to fly. This book was emotional and inspiring and I can’t wait to read the next installment.

This was a fun second chance romance that took a fabulously interesting shifter gal, Elinor, and matched her up with a high school nemesis, Blake. He didn't realize she was the one that outed the high school football team for cheating but he sure worked hard to show atonement for his part in that scheme. She felt the fated mate spark with him, and actually crushed on him in high school, but had to come to terms with forgiving him or moving on. Expect some angst, drama, twists and smoking hot romance to sweep you up in this fated mates romance :D

Hated the writing and the huge info dumps. The convenient appearance of characters (we never find out what happens with the friend she was working so hard to support), and the insta-love that for some reason was able to suspend itself for years until he saw her as an adult. Cringey sex scenes and dirty talk ("I want his cock to take my virginity" ... "I try to lick inside her but she's too tight, her virginity still intact"), and a completely unneeded OW drama at the last few pages with someone that didn't even register in the story just so the FMC could tell her off or something. [Insert eye roll]. The shifter thing only comes into play for them to be fated mates. No one ever shifts, and scents are the only things even related to shifters that are mentioned. It's more like OMV except it's not.

Fly free, Baby Bird

To me, a second chance is where they were together before, and are trying again. This is not that. I would call this a bully to lovers romance. It is one of my favorite of the series. I liked Elinor in all the previous books. You start out with just a hint of her, and she becomes a bigger part throughout the series. I was happy for her to get her own HEA. Blake is so sweet and patient with her. Pushing Elinor from her comfort zone, but at the same time always taking her needs into account If there's a negative in all of this, it's how he seems to have quite a bit of money for the son of someone who owns a venue, and at times he seems more the boss than his dad. But those are little things, and I really enjoyed this story.

What can be a stranger pairing than a crow and a wolf?? A crow and a reformed bully wolf!

Elinor can't forget how she was bullied in school and Blake was one of those, but was he really? Now as adults, he is sorry and wants to prove to her that he really is and that she is his mate, but can she forgive and forget?

Blake can't believe it, but as he thinks back to his school days, he can. His wolf knew even back then although his stupid human side could not accept it. Is it too late and will he have to live a life watching his little crow from far away?

Her Second Chance Wolf

This was a very uplifting, and heartwarming, tale of two former high school students who meet again later in life. They each have issues from childhood to overcome, and learn to trust each other. Elinor Earwood shows her humility in not humiliating those who tormented her in school, and Blake Waldgrove learns to forgive his teenage self for the pain caused by his self-centered behavior. They travel down a difficult road together.

Loved it!!

I can't stop smiling, this is the best of this series. Loved how things worked out for these two second chance for love. Elinor has come a long way from being discarded like trash to now a headliner in her own right...whoop gotta love a happy ending and this one truly is. Blake stands true and have been her strong hold, letting her spread her wings and find herself, now that is love...big fan as always Winzie19🤗💞.

MMC/FMC- Blake and Elinor
Genre- Paranormal Romance (shifters)
Heat-
Series? Y
Safety? Y
Main Tropes- High School Bully, Fated Mates, Self-Esteem Issues, Orphaned Heroine, Rockstar
What I thought- this is a pretty basic story about a former high-school bully and his fated mate. What I liked, however, was that she was quirky in a fun way, and he was supportive of her dreams, even when they took her away from him for awhile.

Her Second Chance Wolf

Ooh I'm glad she shot MS high and mighty Lacey down. She thought she was doing something by trying to show up Elinor but Blake had her back. Even though high school was rough for Elinor, Blake more than made for anything that went bad for her. I love that fate brought them together despite the rough high school experience.

Elinor felt the fated mate spark with her bully back in high school and when they meet again, the mmc wants to be with her and he feels tremendous guilt for how he treated Elinor and wants to make it right and have a chance with her. Elinor has to let go of the past and give him another chance or move on with her life. I liked this bit of realistic drama in the midst of a paranormal romance.

Beautiful and sweet

The transition from teen to adult for both protagonists was beautiful to read. I loved the seeming contrasts of the main characters personalities, and adored reading the realisation that they aren’t so different. Blake is such a sweetheart he made my heart pitter patter and Elinor is such a bad ass!

To Bird or not to Bird!

WOW! What a fabulous book!
Heart strings will be pulled with this book! These two characters are fabulous and easy to love (and my hate a little at first). If ever there was a book about a character blooming to a beautiful ROSE! This is it. My words will not even come close to the excellent chemistry found in the story. Enjoy

Very cute

The story was very cute, but also very brief. There was a bit of information dumping in the beginning, details that werent really relevant to the story. I liked that it went away from the traditional wolf/wolf shifter story. Elinor had good growth. This was a nice short story.

I've waited and given serious thought as to how to review this without being insensitive. But I'm still struggling to think of anything good to say about it. I can't believe how many high ratings it has. Did I read a different book to most of the other readers?

Can anyone who has read this book please tell me what happened to Caroline?

Super Good

Fall in love with Elinor and Blake. Fated mates since high school but not acted on until long after. Elinor’s wariness to trust, Blake’s desire to change her mind and heart. A HEA you don’t want to miss!

I loved the story line, but whoever does the final edits before publication needs to be fired and replaced. I've been noticing a trend in the quickly produced books, with a few of the authors I read, this is becoming a trend. For me, this is annoying and distracting.

fated, but on opposite sides. she's the nerd, he's the school hot shot.
time brings them back together and many miscomunications are sorted and true feelings, old feelings resurface and are aknowledged.
if you liked the others in this series, this one fits just right in.

Awesome

Episode and Blake's story was an awesome read. I loved her character in the previous books and it was so nice to read her story. Blake as her mate was different but interesting read. Definitely a great continuation in the series.

Super sweet

Little tug at the heart strings. Short story, just enough to when you need a little something. Definitely hits the spot you need for cuteness and spicy, and bully redeeming.

Wonderful love story

This is one of my favorites in the series. How she came to eventually realize that she was beautiful and not the weird looking chick she always thought she was. Great love story, amazing ending and of course lots of hot explicit sex!

very refreshing read.

I loved the story line. I read a lot and a lot of werewolf books. It was different no fighting, no kidnapping, etc. I enjoy these books too.
I totally recommend this different love story. Relaxing enjoyable read.
