More than 3000 years ago, an object fell from the heavens in ancient Egypt. A shepherd watched its descent to Earth, and he went to investigate. Soon after, he was dead.

Believed to have contained the Ten Commandments, The Old Testament describes the Ark of the Covenant as a weapon of devastating power, wielded by the Israelites on their journey from Egypt back to Canaan. This mysterious weapon killed anything in its path, and the Bible describes it laying waste to entire cities.
Now, a shadowy militant group has taken a sudden interest in archaeology, and a well-known Egyptian scholar has mysteriously vanished. Could the legend of the Ark of the Covenant be true?
Once more, SAS veteran Andrew Sterling is called upon to lead the investigation. Assisted by archaeologist Fiona Keane, he must attempt to uncover the mystery of the Ark and track down the terrorists, before they are able to acquire the divine weapon.

Thrilling

Lex certainly gives his readers their money’s worth. We get an education on Egypt and Israel, including a plethora of myths and legends from ancient times. Add in lots of information on nuclear physics and meteorology and a thorough understanding of special forces operations and weaponry, and we have a book that informs as well as excites. All the characters are well described and memorable. The plot is complex and twisty, with many surprises and to say that it is action-packed is almost an understatement. Recommended.

I loved book one of this series but struggled on book 2. I’ve read quite a few archeological mysteries but in parts I found my attention wavering with an overload of historical facts. I lost track of the plot a few times and did find myself only scanning the history parts as they seemed too long

Great story and educational

Great story, with a few twists, made me think of the heavens and what may come our way.
The characters are growing well, in each book, and now, onto the next one.

This is a fantastic read and you cant say that you don't get value for your money. Its full of interesting facts about Israel and Egypt including lots of myths and legends from times gone by add to this information on nuclear physics and meteorology. This all leads to a book that informs as well as keep you turning the pages. Although the plot is complex and has plenty of twists and turns it is non stop action. I really like the main characters they are well developed and quite memorable.
I recommend this book 100%

Another amazing adventure

Another rollercoaster adventure for Andrew and Fiona chasing the Ark of the covenant with a mix of terrorists thrown in. The author is great at giving his own twists and ideas on age old myths and legends, the amount of research that goes into his stories is amazing, which gives me a great read and teaches me loads of ancient history for which I am grateful.

An Entertaining and Gripping Tale

Well, this is the second of these books I've read and had previously just finished about a dozen books by another author so I admit that it took me some time to get into these but once I was hooked I struggled to stop reading and go to sleep. This was a very good adventure/thriller. It is well paced, has good characters (that will pad out more as we go forward), lots of fascinating history, amazing places (which had me flicking to Google Maps to check out) and lots of military tactical action. I'm now looking forward to the next adventure. Well done Rex. I recommend this book to anyone who loves Dan Brown, Ernest Dempsey, Christopher Cartwright and countless other authors who write adventure/thrillers.

Another great adventure

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, and was looking forward to the sequel. It didn't disappoint.
Really interesting plot about the ark of the covenant and the pharaohs, with historical details. Also quite a few well written and exciting action sequences. Loved it.

A little disappointing

I read the two previous titles in this series and really got invested in the principal characters and was looking forward to this book. Unfortunately, this book seemed to me to be a series of extracts from history books and travelogues linked together with the familiar 'search for the ancient artefact'.

Rather apt reading considering everything going on in the Middle East at the moment.

While the story was gripping & fast paced......I also found it very informative. There's so much history in the region, how anyone can make 'head or tail' of it is beyond me.

apart from the constant dick van dyke English between the protagonists, " alright " & "crickey" the story behind it was enjoyable, just hope Andrew and Fiona start talking more like normal British people than the Mary Poppins English portrayed in his first two books
