When a freak tropical storm clips the north of the island, it leaves devastation and the deaths of a just-married couple in its wake. The deaths are ruled fatal casualties of the storm, but Senna isn’t so sure. She’s covering the storm for the newspaper and discovers something amiss with the wedding party. Are their deaths a tragedy of natural disaster or a travesty of justice? She can’t justify her suspicions, however, without exposing her witchy abilities.
Secrets abound and bring a different kind of dark storm brewing on the horizon of her fledgling relationship with the hot sheriff.
This was one wild ride and let me tell you, this series took a pretty significant turn in this one. Senna has her hands full with a paranormal murder that she tries to solve without involving her very hot and very human sheriff in her investigation. Or should she maybe just confess to Gabriel her true nature as a witch? I gotta say, I love unexpected things and this one had plenty to offer. Most of them very refreshing. One of them I’m still reeling from, though not sure there if that one was a good thing. I love Senna, I love Gabriel and I love Ebren. What I didn’t love was that we still know nothing more of the mystery around her birth parents or the murder that brought her to the island in the first time. Plus, there are just too many typos in each of these books. So only three instead of four stars. Which is still pretty good in my distribution of stars. Hopefully, we get some answers in the next book. Fingers crossed!
Senna has reached the point where a decision needs to be made. And before she realizes that a mage shows up involved with a killer storm. And what about Gabriel, can she tell him what she is, convince him that the case storm wasn't the killer?
I am enjoying the series. It's a little out there, but that makes it entertaining...takes you away from the every day stress of life. Well written, clean, with hints of romance without all the details. I had to keep reading and see what comes next. I am comfortable with my granddaughters reading this author.
4.5/5⭐: I really enjoyed this read to the point it is now on my favorites list. I highly recommend this series. A 1/2 of a ⭐ deducted because I didn't like the unanswered question of WHY they're not compatible. I was going to read the next book regardless but it irritates me that I would need to just to (hopefully) get an answer to that question.
