This is a terrible book and I don't give one-star reviews often. The authors either had "write a book" on their collective bucket lists or saw a book as an opportunity to promote their business. Either way, it made for an experience that put them front-and-center and put the reader last.

For example, there were constant redirections to listen to their podcast (complete with QR code). There was a workbook that could be accessed via URL but then I had to cough up my email address to access the workbook (which is another form of payment since I'm sure I'm now on a mailing list).

Moreover, the advice in this book was no different than people say *for free* on LinkedIn all the time. Absolutely nothing earth-shattering in the advice. This book also has a split audience: on the one hand, it's directed at individuals looking to grow their personal brand, and another huge focus on Company Pages - but directed at larger businesses, with very little emphasis on creators/solopreneurs. It's unlikely that a lot of people who read this book are trying to grow a personal brand and also manage a company page.

Finally, it was poorly written. Either the authors wrote it themselves and they are mediocre at content of this length or they hired a terrible ghostwriter. Entire sections were done as author quote (Michelle G says... Michelle R says...) as a shortcut to actually translating the ideas into coherent paragraphs. I didn't paid for a book - not a transcript of thoughts.

While the authors may be great as LinkedIn branding consultants and maybe were fine on their own writing books (I have no idea and have no intention of finding out), this book felt like a giant advertisement for their business and a complete waste of my time.

This is another great choice to start your new year off right. In an age where "branding" is the buzzword for making a difference in your job search and career path, this book is invaluable. Authors Michelle J Raymond and Michelle B Griffin (known together as "Michelle Squared") share their personal stories about how LinkedIn helped them with their career journeys and branding success and show you how you can do the same.

To be clear, this isn't just another book about LinkedIn, all of its features, and how to use it, although they do touch on those subjects. This guide goes deeper, showing you how to discover your own branding story, define your target audience and clients, and develop the most effective content. Perhaps most importantly, they emphasize how you must use "the power of two," your personal profile and your company page, to get exponential results. And as a bonus, the book includes a downloadable workbook so that you can answer questions as you read along, as well as QR codes to listen to episodes of their "LinkedIn Branding Show" podcast.

I can tell you that reading this and listening to the show have helped me tremendously in a short amount of time. If you're serious about taking your career to a new level, it will help you, too.

Powerful and Encouraging

I enjoyed this book, The LinkedIn Branding Book. I felt that having 2 people with different experiences and each one coming from different points of view was helpful. The recommendations are things I think I can implement in my LinkedIn journey, which is just starting. I read the book on Kindle but I still plan to buy the book so I can get the workbook.

If this if your only LinkedIn book then you’ll probably get a lot out of it, if it’s your 2nd, 3rd or more then you’ll probably not find much new.
It was ok, but if someone asked me to recommend a book on the subject of LinkedIn it would be 60 days to LinkedIn mastery which is much more of a practical ‘step by step’ guide.

I now have a specific "to do" list. This book delivered on exactly what my pragmatic heart desired. It provided clear guidance, checklists, links, examples and cautionary tales. It's perfect for anyone getting started or looking to optimize their LinkedIn brand.
