The Empire of the Star Continent is ruptured.

On one side are the Holdfasts, a family that has already saved the world more than once; but also a family that includes mass-murderers, war criminals, and the vain, disobedient, and ambitious.

On the other side is the imperial army – the only armed force on the Star Continent, and one guided by Daimon – a young Dream Mage with a grudge.

Adopted into the ranks of Daphne’s family, Thorn of Greyfalls Deepen has finally achieved her goal – now all she has to do is unite the Holdfasts, or risk being the shortest-lived ruler the Star Continent has ever seen.

About Me

I love deserts, which is too bad as I live in Scotland, but the mountains, glens and lochs more than make up for it. My other love is Greek Tragedy, especially Euripides, and I also read history, science, fantasy, and pretty much anything about the Beatles…

Christoper Mitchell has been building up to this for a long, long time. And this book delivers. It is a rollicking ride from start to finish. And the climax? wow. just wow. I see a lot of parallels to Avengers: Infinity War considering the long build-up and the epic cliffhanger where the story leaves us.

Another excellent read in the series. I wish I could talk in detail about it, but it's all spoilers. So many spoilers.

All I am going to say is the plot thickens, the characters continue to develop. The ones you love, you continue to love. The ones you hate, you continue to hate.

I laughed. I cried.

I hate Christopher Mitchell a little bit with this one. I was so excited about something I thought was going to happen. And then... Not... Because of something else.

And I feel so bad for one character because I don't think that there will be any way to salvage their mental health after this book.

That's all I'm going to allude to. If you know, you know

Holdfast Imperium: An Epic Fantasy Adventure (The Magelands Eternal Siege Book 15), my nineteenth read from prolific author Christopher Mitchell, 505-pages of epic fantasy, a classic in process. Just when you wonder where this epic goes next Mitchell delivers. Is this the end? Will the end be all that readers expect? When I want to read epic fantasy I first look for author Christopher Mitchell. I look forward to reading more from this author, I have to wait for publication of World's End: An Epic Fantasy Adventure (The Magelands Eternal Siege Book 16). “I received a free Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Ridiculously engrossing

What a book.! Omg I thought that this would be a bit of a let down as it's the penultimate book. I should have known better though. It took me just over a day to digest this epic book. Characters stayed true to their story arcs. I have no idea how Christopher does it but this series has the reader heavily invested in the characters he has created. I can't wait for the final book but at the same time I do not want to read it as it's the last time I will read about the characters who have become friends. It will be a bittersweet read to be sure.
Carry on the amazing writing and I envy anyone who hasn't yet journeyed to Kell or Regain or any of the places in the entire Magelands saga.
Fantasy writing at THE most highest of levels.

A once great series is now hard to read

The introduction of Daimon's character ruined this series, but sadly it was just one of many lazy writing crutches the author now leans on in place of a well thought out plot. There is no consistency for when characters are able to use their powers. Whatever is convenient for the scene. Suddenly Daimon is more powerful than all the ascendents and ancients combined even though there is no explanation as to why he would be more powerful than Karolyn. When having the Holdfasts posses quadrants would hinder a scene we get treated to two slapped together pages where they suddenly lose both. we're talking self-published level lazy writing. Sad to see such a great series devolve into this.

I read about 120 books a year and during the last three years have found that although I really enjoy most of them there is nothing to touch the books written by Christopher Mitchell.
They flow so well and you never want to skip a page. I've read about 26 of his books now and have never been disappointed.
I've just finished 'Holdfast Imperium' and it swept my breath and emotions away at times. Cannot wait until the final book is released in this epic end of March.
He is definitely my favourite author and none of his books disappear in my memory. Love them!
Start with the first book and have months and months of pleasure.

A continent with 2 rulers, one elected, one controlled by a dream mage intent on ruling the star continent behind a puppet emperor, can Empress Thorn unite the world in time to face the gods of Implatacus, can the Holdfasts save their world and The City of Salve. Great storytelling by Christopher as per usual, the pace builds and builds to its conclusion but leaves you hanging for the final part of this epic series. I can’t wait to read the final part.

Another Fantastic book in the Magelands Series. I am an Honest ARC reviewer en-traced by Mr. Mitchell's Mind Candy. This series has everything a fan of Epic Fantasy / Swords & Sorcery could want,Magic Human Mages,Godlings, Battles,Wars ,Intrigue, twists and turns, AND drum roll ---Dragon's. The Star World home of the Holdfast clan is in revolt ,the planet leader died and instead of accepting the laws appoints her son to become King. Everything gets turned on it's head as the leader of the Godlings attacks...you'll see. This was a great read.

As a member of Christopher Mitchell's ARC team I received an advanced copy to read and review.
Unlike some of the other stories this is slow burner. The understanding of the political aspects of the Star Continent is essential before the battle with The Gods of Implacus takes place. The scene is set very nicely for the final chapter yet to come.
CM has weaved his magic yet again leaving the reader wanting more. It is a pity this fantastic series is coming to an end and I, for one, can't wait to get hold of the final book Worlds End to see if the Holdfast family prevails, or ...

I received an advanced copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. I have given a lot of thought after reading this installment and I think I would consider it almost a pre-ending. A lot of story in this one and it does not disappoint. I found myself devouring it and very displeased when I reached the ending knowing I would have to wait for the finale. I loved and I lost and got excited and disappointed and all the emotions in between. I am desperate for the final installment!! Highly recommended!!

What?!!!! Noooooo!

An epic installment! I cannot believe I have to wait months for the last bit! This was so good, so much time with the characters. Kier in particular is such an interesting character. I can't believe how it ended, what it going to happen next? This series is excellent. There are so many parts to the story, so many well developed characters, such a long timeline we get to follow it makes for a particularly intense read and I highly recommend you dive in at the start.

Enjoyed them, but can't anymore...

Sigh. The sextant is just such a gaping plot hole that I can't continue the series.

Ultimately, they would have used the sextant to teleport their nemesis to a deserted island or world to save thousands of lives... not assassination attempts or the like. Or used it to save hostages or move goods between worlds... it can selectively identify and transfer banner solders/slaves to the individual, and not settlers or natives, but can't identify and transfer individuals? The whole book is a construct that would have never happened.

Eek! This book was so so fantastic!

I have read all the histories of the Holdfasts and can't get enough of them! And Mr Mitchell pulls no punches on this novel. He hurts us with losses but survival comes with a price. The writing is fast paced and I sometimes get lost but am always steered back to gist of the story. Even when things seem to spiral out of control, we are brought back to the main principles of family, love, loyalty and friendship.

Running out of superlatives for this series.

Mitchell keeps things changing and twisting the plot throughout and the pace in Imperium almost felt non-stop for all the right reasons.

This latest installment is very much setting things up for the big finale but it stands as a fantastic read in its own right.

I genuinely can't begin to predict how it all ends and cannot wait to find out!

The story revolves around the Empress and land of the Holdfasts changing so quickly. A continuation from the previous books.. how the worlds all work with eachother with the help of a Quadrant and Sextant. This book makes me feel a little sad with so many unexpected demises, so looking forward to a joyous finale

If you’ve not tried it, it’s worth it. Dragons, monsters, mages, love and battles.

Oh my gosh! I have ploughed through these 15 books since Christmas! How am I to wait until 24th March for the last one.
I have developed feelings for these characters, love, devastation, hate, horror. I’ve gasped a few times in this book. Cracking writing Christopher Mitchell.

Hold fast Imperium

Oh gosh. This book had my feelings all over the place. I was happy, sad, angry and frustrated. I was mumbling at characters in the book and mostly not mumbling nice things.
If you haven't read this series pick up Queens Assassin.
I think there's only one more book in the series and I'm already feeling sad.
