From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Catherine Bybee comes the story of two wine enthusiasts who ride the ups and downs of love in the vineyards of Tuscany.

Tasting wine is not enough: sommelier Giovanni D’Angelo wants to create it. To put his family first, he’s always deferred his dreams—a vineyard to run, a woman to marry. But a three-week vineyard tour in Italy could set him back on track.

For Emma Rutledge, wine is in her blood. Intent to run the family wine business one day, she finds that the men in her family are only intent to push her out of it. But that’s fine—she’s got a plan.

EXCERPT: 'This is our way of telling you to take some time for yourself.' Chloe smiled.
'And if you find a wife along the way . . .' Mari said with a hum.
Gio opened the envelope and pulled out the papers folded inside.
Tour of Tuscany was written in fancy lettering with the image of a vineyard and a bus.

ABOUT 'BEGINNING OF FOREVER': Tasting wine is not enough: sommelier Giovanni D’Angelo wants to create it.

When Gio and Emma meet on a wine tour in Tuscany, their shared aspirations fuel an undeniable chemistry. Returning home to California, they work toward setting up Emma’s vineyard and a label of their own. But when Emma receives a life-altering diagnosis, she worries it’s all been for nothing.

As Emma works to cement her family legacy while dealing with this unexpected challenge, Gio tries to convince her that their future isn’t just wine.

It’s each other.

MY THOUGHTS: A sweet, sexy and fun romance with a little medical drama thrown in.

Lost luggage; you know when you're on one continent and your luggage is on another? Whoever would have thought that would lead to romance . . . Catherine Bybee certainly knows how to write disaster to triumph. And she does it with wit and style.

I enjoyed my wine tour through Tuscany with Gio and Emma. Emma plays her cards very close to her chest and Gio is the perfect Italian gentleman: gorgeous and charming. He also respects women; a lovely change - especially when compared to Emma's father! Gio makes no secret of the fact that he is looking for his 'forever' woman, while Emma is perfectly straight up about it not being her.

The other characters on the wine tour are also interesting; the Golden Girls, who need no explanation, but they sure do like to live life to the full! There is a reclusive couple taking a wedding anniversary trip, and the gay men. It was meant to be four, but there was a last-minute relationship failure.

The second half of the book takes place when Emma and Gio return home; Gio to his large and loud Italian family, and Emma to her dysfunctional one, determined to make it on her own. But you know what they say about a problem shared is a problem halved, and Gio is very good at asking the right questions about problems, giving Emma enough insight to be able to solve them on her own. He is also a calming influence on her volatile temper.

I enjoyed this story. It has some very unexpected facets to it and a bit of a bombshell towards the end. A lovely read.

Although this is the third book in a trilogy, it is easily read as a stand-alone.

4.5 shiny, glittery stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ for this captivating and sweet romance novel. Beginning of Forever was the third book in The D’Angelos series written by Catherine Bybee. Although I had not read the first two books in this series, I had no problem reading Beginning of Forever as a stand-alone book. I fell in love with Emma’s and Giovanni’s characters. They were both genuine and endearing. The chemistry they shared was undeniable. I don’t usually read romance books but this one captured my heart. I couldn’t read it fast enough.

Both Emma Rutledge and Giovanni D’Angelos celebrated their thirtieth birthdays and were gifted wine tours to Tuscany. It was the trip of each of their dreams. Little did they realize that they were on the same tour. Giovanni or Gio (the nickname his family and friends used) was a sommelier who lived in the Little Italy neighborhood of San Diego. His family owned a restaurant there. Gio was the youngest of his siblings and his mother was anxious to marry him off. His older brother and sister were already married. Gio was waiting to meet the right woman. He appreciated how close and loving his family was. His long term goal was to own his own vineyard someday and produce his own label for the wine he would produce.

Emma Rutledge was the only daughter of the owner of R&R Wineries. Wine had been in her blood since she was a little girl. Her father, Robert Rutledge, was determined on keeping her out of the family business. He had awarded her token positions within the company but refused to recognize her talent or abilities. On the day of her thirtieth birthday, Emma learned that her ex husband was being promoted and was now going to be her boss. The position should have been Emma’s. Emma had finally been pushed too far. She decided that she would take a step back from R&R and look for own vineyard. Emma would show her father what she was capable of doing. In the meantime, Emma’s mother gifted Emma a vacation trip for her birthday. It was meant to help lessen the friction between father and daughter. Emma and her best friend Nicole signed up for a bus tour through Tuscany’s vineyards. It was the same tour Gio’s family had given him. What were the odds that both Emma and Gio would end up on the same tour? Even more coincidentally, they both lived rather close to one another. Gio was from the Little Italy neighborhood in San Diego and Emma lived in Temecula. Their homes were in close proximity to one another. As soon as Emma and Gio met on the tour, there was no denying the immediate sparks that sizzled between the two. There was instant chemistry. Emma tried to fight it. She was not looking for romance and marriage was the furthest thing from her mind.

By the time the trip was over and Emma and Gio found themselves back in California, there was no denying that something very special had developed between them. Gio was intent on helping Emma explore her options for acquiring the vineyard from her father and eliminating his control over the land. He was her calming presence when she got herself worked up and frustrated. Their relationship was developing in all the right directions.

Then Emma went to see her doctor one day for a routine visit. Emma had noticed that she had been bruising more than usual. When she asked her doctor about it, Emma’s doctor decided to do some testing. The blood tests that Emma’s doctor performed, revealed that Emma had a rare genetic condition that affected her iron production and her liver. As soon as Emma learned about her condition, Gio was at Emma’s side from the very beginning. He would not leave her. Together, they dealt with the stress, the not knowing, the what if’s and the treatments together. If anything, that time, the unknowns and fears brought Gio and Emma even closer.

I enjoyed how Catherine Bybee lightened the mood by interspersing certain situations within the plot. International flights tend to have the possibility of losing luggage. Of course, Emma’s luggage was lost. The dilemma of her lost luggage and the various remedies that were offered had me smiling and even laughing out loud. As a result, Emma and Gio were forced to shop for a complete new wardrobe for Emma. There were several very funny moments during their excursions. Emma and Gio also participated in a friendly competition at one point.

Gio was definitely the ideal boyfriend and partner. I really enjoyed both Emma’s and Gio’s characters. The other members of the tour were quite memorable. I really enjoyed Gio’s family and all the yummy Italian food Gio’s mother made and that they had on the tour. The vivid descriptions of the Tuscan countryside and vineyards were portrayed in a very beautiful way. I really enjoyed reading Beginning of Forever by Catherine Bybee and hope that there a few more books to come in this series. I am not ready to say goodbye to these characters. I highly recommend this book.

BEGINNING OF FOREVER is the third book in the D’Angelo series! Actually, I’m hoping it will be a series and not a trilogy. That’s how much I love how much this family has found its way into my heart. Talk about an awesome family! They always have each other’s backs no matter what is going on within the family. Seriously, I want this family to adopt me! Giovanni D’Angelo loves his family and loves working in the family restaurant. But it isn’t his life long dream. He is a Sommelier and really wants to have his own vineyard! He decides to go on a three week tour of the vineyards of Tuscany. Maybe he can learn a few things that will help him to start his own vineyards. This is where he meets Emma and both of their lives will be changed forever from that very meeting.

BEGINNING OF FOREVER is lovely as we get to experience the vineyards of Tuscany with Emma and Gio. Emma’s family has been in the wine business for many decades, but she doesn’t let that bit of information out at first. It was so much fun watching Emma and Gio dance around each other. Gio is looking for his forever love and Emma lets him know, that isn’t her. Emma and Gio both deserve their happy endings, but will it be with each other? Emma also will be dealing with some health issues that will floor Gio and you won’t be able to help yourself from falling hard for him, just like Emma does.

BEGINNING OF FOREVER. I don’t want to say too much for fear of giving away all of BEGINNING OF FOREVER but once I started reading this beautiful and heart breaking story, I could not stop! I am so hopeful that there will be another book in this series, maybe with the mom, Mari, and fall more in love with the D’Angelos. Will Emma really be able to tame the family playboy? Is Gio serious about settling down and becoming A family man with the right woman? You are going to have to read this heart warming story to find out! Their family is going to worm their way into your heart and never leave. A perfect heartfelt and wonderful story to spend the afternoon with!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Loved this fun story!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It’s funny how you can know within a few pages whether you’re going to enjoy a story or not, for the most part. Maybe it’s the vibe you get from the author’s words and the pace of the story. There are so many factors, who can even tell?
But what I do know is that I enjoyed this book from cover to cover. The story is fun and lighthearted. Even though people go through things, this author has written this book in a joyful manner. She makes it a fun and delightful experience.
I also really enjoyed the characters that Bybee developed. They balanced each other beautifully. There is some heat and a bit of steamy romance that is perfect. They had the same interests, humor, and overall, Beginning of Forever is a beautifully written love story that I so needed to read. It has been a long while since I’ve read a story like this.
Beautiful locations set the scene. Beautiful people and beautiful words wrap it all into a wonderful bow, with a fabulous happily ever after. This story leaves a smile on your face and a craving to dive into more from Bybee!
Emma + Gio
Gio's dream has always been to one day have a big family and own a little place where he can make his own wine.
Emma was born into a huge wine empire. But her dad only sees her as an unqualified female. So now she wants to have her own winery in Southern California. Far away from her dad in Napa.
Gio and Emma meet on a wine tasting group tour in Tuscany.
It's all sparks and wine and fun and amazing moments...
But can they have a future together? They kinda basically almost have the same dreams....
Let the fun times begin...
Another perfect love story in this adorable series.
I love the whole family vibe and the weeks in Italy were just amazing. I so wanted to join them in drinking all that wine and eating all that amazing food!
You'd think it would be so easy for Emma and Gio just to get together and live their dream winery lives... But it's not.
Emma is not dreaming of the big family with lots of kids. She just wants the wine and to prove to her idiot dad that she can do this.
And poor Gio. He wants exactly what he had growing up. The perfect family - and his own wine.
Plus we have a bit of a health scare too.
But we have the whole book to get to that happy end.
I really loved reading this.
I don't know what it is with me and wine country books. I just adore them. I'm not a big wine-drinking person at all - but those books are just totally my thing.
I so need to see this series on TV one day!
The people, the locations, the FOOD and wine....🍷🍝
Can't wait to read Salena's story next!
BEGINNING OF FOREVER was such an adorable + funny + sweet + sparky + just beautiful Italian/Californian wine love story - I loved it! Run to your nearest amazon for your own Gio - this one is mine!
I got this book as an advanced copy from Net Galley! It was such a sweet romance centered around Gio, the last of his family to fall in love and Emma, the wine expert that was been ignored by her father most of her life and ignored in the family business.
Emma and Gio meet in Italy a winery/vineyard tour and the author does a great job of building their connection and relationship. The stint in Europe wasn’t rushed and you could really enjoy the slow burn. Once returned to the States the relationship speeds along through Emma’s fight to gain control despite her Father’s wishes and some frightening medical news. The twist of medical struggles was not as rushed as the suspenseful ends of her previous books of this series.
Overall I enjoyed this read and loved visiting the D’Angelo family again!
I absolutely fell for Gio and Emma. I love how Gio was the playboy and now is in the stage of his life where he's ready for more. He went from charming playboy to charming boyfriend. Due to Emma's disastrous first marriage, he did have to do some chasing with her but even that showed Gio chasing the way you want to see a man chase a woman. He had me charmed from the very beginning.
Emma was so relatable. I understand the feeling of why she was so hesitant. Once burned, twice shy, kind of hesitancy. The best part, is that she didn't let that rule her. At some wonderful encouragement from her best friend, she opened up. Not huge, but enough for Gio to start the process of earning her trust.
I felt this book deeper than the previous ones. Maybe because seeing all the D'Angelos paired up and being that one big family unit, or maybe it was the message of opening ourselves to be vulnerable and seeing what can come form that. Either way, I feel like I couldn't put this book down and was thrilled how it all came together at the end. Great book!
I really enjoy the characters in this series. It focuses on one family, and each book is about a different family member. In this one, we get to fall in love with Gio and Emma and their love story.
These are characters that you will want to get behind and support. Gio has a loving family, but they do want to see him married or at least in a relationship. Emma is trying to prove to her father that she can be a contributing member of the winery. Her father is a misogynist, and it won't be hard to dislike him. A secret is revealed about 2/3 of the way, which explains a lot about his behavior. It doesn't excuse his actions but does explain it a bit more.
I love the journey through Italy where Gio and Emma meet. I would love to do a wine tour! I can only imagine the experience. It doesn't hurt that both Emma and Gio have the knowledge to delve into the grapes, so to speak. I chuckled at the competition between the two in pinning down the flavor notes and other aspects of the wines they tasted.
This love story is not without its challenges. I don't want to spoil the story, but there is more than just Emma's dad throwing kinks into her life. I will say that it definitely made me misty, but so thankful it ended on a positive note.
Franny, Gio's niece, is a hoot and steals the plot at different times. Out of the mouths of babes, as they say!
Loved this book and highly recommend it, and the rest of the series too.
We give it 5 paws up.
Beginning of Forever is a fantastic story and everything I love about contemporary romances. The characters, the gorgeous settings, the themes and messages, the love story – everything about it is brilliant!
Gio and Emma are relationship goals, and I ADORED their love story! They’re such a wonderful complement to each other, and they fit together perfectly. Though they don’t live too far from each other, the first time they meet is when they are on the same tour in Italy. And what a fun tour! Not only are they touring the vineyards and wineries of Italy, which are surrounded by beautiful and charming landscapes and towns, but Gio and Emma they get up to all kinds of shenanigans, meet the best people who make the trip a memorable one, and make life-long friends in almost all of them. If I ever go on a trip like that, I’d love to bring the Golden Girls with me. They were a blast!
Though Gio and Emma have a whirlwind vacation romance, it doesn’t end when the vacation is over. Instead, they continue dating back home. Ooof – the chemistry between these two is super swoon-worthy! I couldn’t get enough of them. I especially loved how Gio treated Emma. I think he saw in her things she and many of her family members didn’t see in herself. He believes in her. It was so lovely to see just how much Gio, a bachelor who never had a long relationship and enjoyed playing the field, cared for Emma almost from their first meeting. It was also fabulous to see Emma take a chance on Gio even though a past relationship soured her feelings toward love and relationships.
The story also includes secondary characters who are as fabulous as Emma and Gio! I adore the D’Angelos and think it would be great if they adopted me. Please and thank you! lol They are such a fun, close-knit, boisterous, and supportive family who have so much love to give. They don’t have many boundaries, and they have even less filters, but the way they are there for each other in the good times and the bad, the way they love so deeply and unconditionally, and the way they welcome new people into their fold is incredibly heartwarming and wonderful.
Emma’s family is a bit more complicated, and some pretty toxic relationships really affect her. It’s great to see Emma finally get (from Gio and others) the respect and support she often lacks, and I think she goes on a tremendous journey over the course of the novel. Physically, she, of course, travels to Italy, but emotionally she learns a lot about what she wants and what she won’t accept anymore. A lot of her growth stems from her newish independence, her growing relationship with Gio, and a surprising health problem.
I loved this story. It was my first by the author, and though it’s not the first book in the series, it can totally be read as a standalone. I haven’t read any of the other books, but I easily followed the story. However, I NEED to go back and read the other books because if they’re half as good as this one, I know I’ll love it!
Special thanks to the author for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.
2 people from Southern California meet in Italy on a Tour of Tuscany that they were both gifted for their 30th birthdays. Despite coming from very different worlds, they bond over their love of wine, and dreams of owning vineyards. Can their attraction survive once they are back home, and back to their real lives?
What made me I pick this one up? I have read the first 2 books in the D’Angelo’s series, and I enjoyed them. I wanted to read Gino’s story! This is definitely a standalone novel, you don’t need to worry if you have not read the others.
Did it live up to my expectations? It exceeded them- I loved reading about Gio and Emma’s tour of Italy, and I fell in love with both characters! I loved Emma’s tenacity and the fact that she does will not settle for less than what she deserves. Gio is all heart, and their interactions were what really made this story.
LOVED! This series was so dang awesome. And Gio’s book did not disappoint. The D’Angelo series was just so great. Family, love and life’s ups and downs portrayed with so much zest. I could not put them down.
Every book I think…this one is the best. But every single book was great.
Gio and Emma’s book really had it all. And I loved how hard it got but he was right there. What every person wants in a partner when life gets you.
A must read series!
Emma Rutledge has been disappointed and frustrated by her father’s treatment. She’s worked hard for the family’s winery and yet her father has discounted her efforts, passing her over for promotions. His latest decision is the final straw pushing Emma to take an extended vacation as she mulls over her options. To help with that her mother gifts her a wine tour through Italy.
Giovanni D’Angelo studied to become a sommelier, but his dream is to create wine. But also, to find love and settle down. He’s put his goals aside to help with the family restaurant, but they understand his passion and gift him the same wine tour Emma’s on. Of course, they meet, sparks fly, but Giovanni wants more than just a holiday affair.
Italy sounded lovely, beautifully described, making me want to book my own tour! Emma and Giovanni’s time together on the trip started out fun and flirty, but turned deeper as the days went by. I loved the advice from the “Golden Girls”, a fun group of older women on the tour, that made them both step back and think about what’s really important in life.
Giovanni’s steadfast support made me swoon! Not only with sorting out Emma’s future career, and standing up to her father, but also when Emma faces a potentially serious medical diagnosis.
Beginning of Forever
combined so many things I love in a romance: hot chemistry, a dreamy setting, a big, loving family, and wine! Italy sounded amazing! The perfect setting to start a steamy affair and fall in love! I’ve been loving the D’Angelo series from the beginning, so it was nice to “see” the previous couples and catch up with the other members of that boisterous bunch!
This book is a wonderful, sweet romance between the son of a close, warm, loving Italian family and a woman whose father has overlooked her for most of her life. I'm not a big fan of Contemporary Romance and it is great to discover an author who can craft a family-centric story with a strong value base. There is humor and some serious stuff too. This is just a great book.
For his thirtieth birthday his family has gifted Giovanni D'Angelo a three-week trip to Tuscany. He plans to use the trip to develop, in his mind anyway, a plan to run his own winery. He has been marking time in his family's Italian restaurant business and really wants to make his own wine and get serious about finding a woman to share his life. The trip is wonderful, and he meets Emma Rutledge. Beautiful and caring and very, very much someone Gio wants to know better, and the great thing is he lives in San Diego, and she lives in Temecula a short distance inland. But the most fantastic thing is that she knows and loves wine as well as he does.
During her trip to Tuscany Emma has finally asked herself the question: What do you do when you have spent your whole life trying to please someone who doesn't value you? At some point you have to realize that it is a hopeless endeavor, and you stop beating your head against that particular wall, pick yourself up and move on. Daddies play a big role in the lives of their daughters and Emma's daddy just couldn't see her in anything more than the traditional role of a woman: wife to a successful man of his choice and the mother of his children. Emma tried, but the man only wanted her money and access to her father. Emma was so much more, but trying to prove that to daddy was a losing battle.
With spunk and determination and her own knowledge, Emma sets out to make her own way and make her own family too. She tells herself she doesn't want or need any man, but Gio has wormed his way into her heart and her life and when things get really real, he's there, he's determined and he's not going to let her down.
My thanks to the Publisher, and Author, for providing a complimentary digital Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this novel via NetGalley. This is my fair, honest and personal review. All opinions are mine alone and were not biased in any way.
Another fab D’Angelo family drama from Catherine Bybee . It’s all about love and family.
Emma and Gio lived different lives, Emma the rich girl trying to make her Dad notice and respect her. Then Gio, not so rich but surrounded by family supporting and loving each other. When they meet on a wine tour their passion and knowledge of good wine brings them together.
Emma inspires Gio with her strength and Gio calms Emma from letting her fiery temper make things worse with her father. Emma is about to leave the family wine business, she’s done with her father and she’s setting up on her own. but a setback changes everything she ever knew about family. Truths are revealed and through it all Gio gives Emma the love and respect she needs for her happy ever after.
Beginning of Forever, like all of Catherine Bybee’s books, touches her readers’ emotions on so many levels. This one is a travelogue, a romance, a multiple family drama and a medical mystery. The author contrasts the D’Angelo family that is all about supporting and uplifting with the Rutledge’s, who are not. I loved the updates on previously spotlighted characters and Franny continues to be a hoot! This book should not be missed! I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. Most highly recommend.
This one was fun! We had the first half where we were in Italy, touring wine country, made me wish I was there. The group was diverse and fun. Sure there were issues, but they were dealt with. I liked seeing Gio and Emma get to know each other, for their feelings to grow, for Emma to see how she should have been treated. Even after they were back, Gio was there for Emma, even if they didn't see each other daily.
Things took a turn for the serious in the back half. Emma fighting things on a couple of levels, but through it all Gio was there for her. Heck, even Gio's family was there for her, giving her a different way to see how a family interacts. Finally in the end, Emma's family stepped up and let her know she mattered, which made for a great ending!
I enjoyed reading Emma and Gio’s story. Travel, love, family, and wine, come together, and I could not put it down. I just wanted to hug Emma. The challenges and trust will work themselves out. Gio charmed me from his introduction.
Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake, for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
Although this is part of a series it can be read as a stand alone. Set in Tuscany and centred around wine growing what’s not to love?
It's a great installment in the D'Angelos series -- just enough machismo to feel realistic without tipping into toxic. As with his brother and best friend (now brother-in-law) before him, Gio fell hard!
I appreciated that while Emma wanted to remain a strong, independent woman, she allowed herself to soften enough to find love.
The shocker of the story didn't seem that surprising where she was concerned, but the fact that it was all of them was unexpected.
The only portion that felt like utter BS was the antagonist's "turnaround" at the end. The author did a decent job stressing that it wasn't a complete 180, but it still rang false.
Despite that, the story drew a tear or two from my eye, so 5-stars.
This was such a fun, sweet, relaxing story that had me settling down and letting it wrap the romance around me.
I’ve been waiting for Gio’s story as he’s been a favorite since the beginning of the series and I couldn’t help but laugh at the situation Emma found herself in each step of the way. Their journey kept me engaged, laughing at times, and loving each new locale. But most of all, I was falling in love with them falling in love.
Through all the merriment, their chemistry was apparent and when they finally came together, it was electric! As I was pleasantly following along, I was labeling this as just a good old fashioned love story, relatively low on angst and high on steam. Until this author gave me a twist I never saw coming. And holy heck. My gut ached and my heart was wrenched. Suddenly I was biting my nails and quietly swearing. I loved every moment of it.
This has a wild cast of characters as travel companions, the warm embrace of the D’Angelos and an epilogue that left me smiling from ear to ear.
Catherine Bybee’s newest D’Angelos novel, Beginning of Forever, made my heart happy. And how could it not, with a detailed tour of gorgeous Tuscany, memorable characters, the love of family, and a swoon-worthy romance that overcame every obstacle thrown its way.
I’m definitely a fan of slow-burn romance and I have to say that nobody does it better than Catherine Bybee. In Beginning of Forever, we followed Gio and Emma, Californians who each went on a bus tour of Tuscany for their birthdays–and who unexpectedly hit it off while exploring the beautiful Italian countryside. The spark between them was intense and happened quickly. The romance itself, though, took time... Read More
TITLE: BEGINNING OF FOREVER
AUTHOR: Catherine Bybee
PUB DATE: 06.27.2023 Now Available
Reading BEGINNING OF FOREVER by Catherine Bybee has me longing for Tuscany, the vineyards, and of course love. It was just last summer, one of the hottest times in Italy that I spent a month there enjoying all that Italy had to offer, and this book was just perfect.
This is the third book in the series and great to read as a stand alone. I loved Gio and Emma’s story as they meet in Tuscany - brought together by their love of wine. Gio is a sommelier looking to run his vineyard someday with someone he loves. Enter Emma, determined to run his family winery business - until a bump in the road threatens all that she has ever dreamed of.
I loved the writing, the setting, and the chemistry between the characters. I look forward to reading more from this series.
After reading the first two books in this series back to back, I felt like I was the one taking a wine tasting vacation in Italy. Catherine has such a low key realistic writing style in contemporary romance that I can’t help but enjoy.
Giovanni is the last D’Angelo sibling to get his happily ever after. The family gives him a gift of a three week long wine tasting tour of Tuscany for his birthday to jump start the inspiration of owning his own winery.
We meet Emma Rutledge in Napa at her family’s business R&R Wineries. She was hoping to get promoted but the position goes to her ex-husband instead. Emma’s relationship with her father has been strained since her divorce and she feels like she doesn’t receive the same respect as her brothers or male coworkers. Thinking she’ll be fired outright, she confronts her father but it does nothing to change his mind. She blurts out that she’d like to break off on her own and start her own business venture and will take a vacation to consider her options.
You can guess where this is going - they meet at the same tour in Tuscany and the attraction is sizzling from the start! They have great chemistry and it turns out they have a lot in common besides knowing a lot about wine. We spent a long time in Italy with the characters, touring, eating, drinking and a little bit of shopping. Gio and Emma can’t be apart too long once getting back to the States and they begin to put their ideas together to start their own winery in Temecula.
Preparing to take their relationship to the next level, Emma has a health scare and a dark secret is unearthed leaving her with many challenging decisions regarding her life and family. The loud but lovable D’Angelos rally around Emma and Gio and bring some joy back into their life. Through all the ups and downs, Emma realizes she can take on anything with Gio by her side.
In true Bybee fashion, this book will keep you in suspense, make you laugh or cry but it will be worth it in the end! I highly recommend this series, it could be read as a standalone but don’t miss out on Luca and Chloe’s stories :)
OMG...I laughed, I cried, I totally felt for both Gio and Emma! This 3rd book in the D'Angelo's series was just so good!
Emma, wanting her father to be proud of her and acknowledge her as a valuable member of the family vineyard business, finally is figuring out that it just doesn't look like it will happen. She takes birthday money from her mom, and she and her BFF head off to Italy for a wine tour of Italy.
Giovanni, still working in the family restaurant business, is a sommelier, but wants to try his hand at having his own vineyard and label. For his birthday, he is given the 'trip of a lifetime' by his family to take a wine tour of Italy.
Three weeks in Italy becomes the beginning for Emma and Gio. Hijinks and happiness over the vacation become more serious as they spend lots of time together. Coming back to the states, they both realize they want to make changes in their lives that will impact both of their families. As they head further into a full-blown relationship, will a medical issue cause a split between them and some family members, or will they be able to weather this storm and come through it more fulfilled than ever.
Catherine Bybee just knows how to put heart and soul into her books. Beginning of Forever is another example of a full out, take no prisoners, life changing love story that she writes so well.
This book is #3 in The D'Angelo's series. It can be read as a standalone, but you would have a bit more history of the family and why they are so close knit if you read the first two books!
Thanks to Montlake and the author for an ARC of this book. The review is my own.
Oh be still my heart!! I love how Catherine Bybee tells a love story. The D’Angelo family are pure love and support, I love how they all rally around Gio and support him, even when it takes him away from them, even before they know Emma. They lead from the heart and it’s beautiful.
I loved the slowly unfolding love story of Emma and Gio, how we could see how totally smitten for each other they were, yet they took the time to form a solid friendship before letting that heat loose. Gio supports Emma through all the stress she has to navigate with her dad and then her health, he shows her how much he loves her by turning up and letting her have control of the few small things that are available to her at the time. He and his family show her what a real family is and how they love loud and proud. The twist about her parentage was quite a surprise and once again Gio’s strength and love builds a bridge for Emma to finally have her dad show his love for her in a way that she needed.
Absolutely amazing from start to finish and I can’t wait to see what comes next from Bybee.
Another great book in Catherine Bybee's D'Angelo Series. I adore the characters in this series. Beginning of Forever is the story of Giovanni and Emma who meet on a wine tour in Tuscany, Italy- and they're both form Southern California. Emma is in the midst of a family battle at home that Gio ends up helping her through after they return. Their relationship develops with some hurdles, but they come out of it together and with a stronger family in the long run. I highly recommend Beginning of Forever, and hope there are more books in this series.
