Barry has learned to control his powers and is finally starting to feel like the hero he’s always dreamed he could be. But then a showboating new villain going by the name of the Top shows up looking to test his abilities and make some cash selling his weapons after showing how they can take out the Flash! Barry will need to use every skill he’s picked up along the way if he’s going to stop this topsy-turvy terror!
I simply loved it. I like the way it deals with mental health and anxiety and ties it to Barry's powers. Very similar to what we watched in Sam Raimi's spiderman movie and how Peter's ability to pull webs and hold on to surfaces was altered by his depression. No less remarkable is the role his father plays in all this, in bringing Barry closer to being a better professional and a better hero. There are moments between Barry and Henry Allen tremendously emotional and that would have done a lot of good for the popularity and affection for the character if they were taken to the big screen.
The strong point of these three comics is, ironically, the weak point of the movie it tries to explain. These are not filler stories or explanatory extensions of what has been developed in the DCEU. What is in these pages are crucial moments! stages that should not have been skipped from the view of the general public in theaters to go straight to flashpoint. This is character development that takes him from his rookie version of the Snyder/Whedon movie and drops him into the final version of The Flash's movie.
It's funny, and sad for lifelong DC fan like me, to see so much incredible potential pessimistically handled. Don't get me wrong, I did watch The Flash's movie,I loved to see Keaton one more time and I really enjoyed to see The Man of Steel's escenario again with Zod's invasion but from an alternative perspective. It's a good experience for me but It doesn`t seem have been a good experience for most fans and I don't blame them ... everything could have been better, more patience from Warner. Cavill, Momoa, Affleck, Gadot etc all of them could have been nostalgic and beloved faces for the public as were Downey Jr, Chris pratt, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson or Samuel L jackson.
Over all this Prelude to the Flash film is a disappointment.
I feel as though this story will likely have little to do with the actual film and is rather just a general Flash story that's slapped with a official movie comic stamp that practically doesn't mean much.
Over all the art from the first comic is much improved in the 2nd and 3rd issues.
Nothing really wrong with the story but pretty clear not important or essential or adding anything to the soon to be released film.
