Jina S. Bazzar is a Palestinian author, born and raised in Brazil.
Like most writers, her love of books began at a young age. Unlike most writers, she never aspired to become one.
It was only years after she became blind that she tried her hand at writing, giving voice to all the wild, rambling thoughts in her mind.
She now lives in Palestine with her family, taking inspiration from the smallest things in life. When she’s not writing or networking on social media, you can find her in the kitchen, baking while listening to (often very loud) music.

Oh my word, this series! I don’t know if my heart can take all the twists and turns, shocking surprises, and fast-paced action. It’s the kind of series that grabs you right from the start and doesn’t let go. It’s engrossing and intense, and the suspense is off the charts. There’s never a dull moment for Melaina as she fights to protect those she loves and unveils a treacherous plot that could change everything.

Melaina continues to be a strong and fierce protagonist. The story begins while Melaina is being held captive by a group that wants to benefit from her powers. Like the other books, Melaina realizes that there aren’t many people she can trust. She also learns that the ploy for power is much more complex than ever, and no one and nowhere is safe. Melaina’s gone through and continues to go through so much, but she never gives up. She’s guided by her love of and determination to protect those she cares about, but she realizes that sometimes that isn’t enough.

Of course, one of my favorite parts of the story is the romance. I adore this second-chance romance, though I worry for their future, especially after what happened in this book. Fingers crossed Melaina and Bradley will find happiness. Other characters are also compelling, and I’m excited to find out more about each of them because I have a feeling that some might not make it out alive, and I’m stressed!

The story definitely makes you think about who the real monsters are. Monsters certainly come in all different forms, and sometimes the worst monsters are the ones you don’t expect. There are so many morally grey characters and groups, which makes the story so intriguing. Just when I thought I had someone or something figured out, the story went in an entirely different direction. I love stories that keep me on my toes, and between the high-stakes action, the intense plot, and the unexpected twists and revelations, I was captivated from the start. And the ending of this book! That cliffhanger made me desperate to get my hands on the next book.

I had a good time with this thrilling read!

This time around, Melaina finds herself captured by the Resistance. Subjected to manipulative and torturous methods to get her on their side, she desperately looks for a way out. When she sees her chance she takes it, but even if she succeeds who can she trust now? The Houses and the Resistance aren't trustworthy, and with her sights set on the Coalition, an organization for mundanes, Melaina struggles to find a way out of her impossible situation.

My favorite thing about this book was all the superpowered action scenes. Bazzar is an expert at creating high-octane scenes, and there a lot of great fights that had my heart racing. Bazzar doesn't hold back from the grit and gore when it's needed and I loved it.

Man, poor Melaina. She has really been through the ringer, and in this novel that doesn't change. Her viable options for resolution keep decreasing, and with only her staunchest allies to trust, the desperate situation really starts to weigh on her. This time around, Bradley is more present and I loved how supportive and increasingly stubborn he is with Melaina, especially when she insists on being a martyr. I'm rooting for their relationship to survive by the end of all this.

There's plenty of mystery, action, and superpowers in each chapter, and I enjoyed all the twists and turns along the way that I didn't see coming. Excited to see what happens next!

This is the 3rd book in the Shadow Walker series, and I've been buddy reading these books with Jonny. This one was such a quick read. It picks up from where the previous book left off and it's pretty much action packed from then on. While I'm having a good time reading these this one is probably my least favorite so far. Mel keeps making the same decisions over and over again, so it feels like we are going in circles. She keeps deciding to sneak into places getting caught and then getting away only to do pretty much the same thing again a few chapters later. Plot wise there wasn't much progress in this book however we made great progress when it comes to the romance which I loved but I would have liked for everything to have been balanced out a bit more. To me I think this series would have been better off as a duology.

This is one of those series that just gets better and better with each book and this third book hits the ground running. Melaina Is being held by the very people she’s running from but that doesn’t stop our kick ass, ask questions later female mc. Well paced, action packed with incredible world building, I once again found myself drawn into this incredible adventure with its twists and turns and surprises. Melaina has a choice to make, can she make it in time to save to her loved ones.

Shadow Flames is the third book in the Shadow Walker series. Shadow Flames opened with a blast and never let up. It was filled with lots of twists and turns that kept me glued to the pages. I couldn’t turn them fast enough as I wanted to know what was on the next page. The more I read the more I wanted to read.

Shadow Flames opens with Melaina being held captive. Her captives were trying their best to get Melaina to use her powers but she was not going to give them that satisfaction. Her captives want Melaina to join their cause but she wants no part of it. They want her to join them voluntarily. They don’t want to force her but I get this feeling that they will if they have to.

Shadow Flames was just as good if not better than the two books that came before it. The world-building is top of its class. I sorely enjoyed reading the continuing adventures of Melaina and I really loved it when she used her powers. I could see the whole thing in my head as if I was right there beside her witnessing it all.

Can Melaina find a way to escape before it is too late? Can she save the people she loves the most from the very ones who hold her captive? What will Melaina do to save herself and the ones she cares about? All the answers lie between the pages of Shadow Flames.

I received and ARC for this book.

As always, a book in this series hits the ground running.  Action, peril, and a female main character that is a serious badass.  Throught the entire series I have enjoyed how real, flawed, and determined this character is, and this book is no exception.

Her fight to stay out of the politics of her world takes a new spin in this book.  I enjoyed seeing her personal struggles slowly change into struggles that affect her entire world.  So much action, such real emotion, a wild ride that everyone should read.

This book sucked me in and spat me out gasping!

The series so far has been phenomenal and this book does not disappoint.

A kick-arse heroine who gets things done. She is the kind of woman we all aspire to be tough, yet has vulnerabilities, a no-one gets left behind attitude and does not let her past define her future but does learn and add to it.

Sometimes the hardest lessons are the best and this book absolutely brings to the forefront.

Absolutely a 5 star rating from me!
