Murder, missing children, and feral beasts were not on the itinerary for Crockett and Brontë Cook's honeymoon. The two are both terrified and titillated to find these adventures and more waiting for them when they arrive in a quaint German town to celebrate their nuptials. As their honeymoon week unfolds, shocking revelations come to light about the beast, the town, and the lodgers who surround a blustery colonel, a pugnacious writer, a dysfunctional young family, and a stately Dutch dame. Can they find out the secrets of the Deutschefaber Inn before it's too late? Or will they fall prey to the mythic creature which stalks the woods?
The Caddywampus is the second mystery in the Beatrice series. Join Crockett and Brontë as they hone their detective skills and attempt to uncover the mysteries of the demon bear!
I had the pleasure of reading an early version of this book. It’s a rare day that I laugh out loud while reading. I am frequently amused, but laughing out loud is rare. Hawks’ tomfoolery was unparalleled in anything I read and the mystery was engaging.
