~ ~ "Princess, we were so wrong for making you think you needed to change who you were, who you were with US, just because we were too afraid of what others would think. We should have stood beside you instead of hiding behind you." ~ ~

What happens when those that you love the most abandon you and leave you to suffer one of the most horrific violations one could endure?

How do they reconcile what they've done and the damage they've inflicted on the one person they were meant to love and protect?

Atonement is their first priority ~ then they have to earn back the trust they decimated.

ATONE is a reverse harem novel, which means that the main character won't have to choose who she ends up with. This is a MFMM 18+ that has elements some may find triggering. Please read the trigger warning at the beginning of the book, and if you find any topics that you think will push you, please don't read. I will warn you that the main trigger of this book is sexual violence. It's a large part of the book, so if that's a no go, please don't put yourself in the position to be uncomfortable. Please note that even though the topics are heavy, the sexual violence is not perpetrated by our leading men.

2.5 stars. This book isn't terrible. The writing is fine, and it’s a good idea. But it needed to be longer, spend more time on character depth, and the way the plot was executed just didn’t work. But, if you’re in the mood for Angst, and you're not as picky as I am, it might still be worth a read.

The basic premise is that the heroine and her 3 guys were in a relationship in high school, and their classmates all bullied them for it and slut-shamed her. Her 3 guys handled it like dicks: they pulled away from doing PDA with her, and told her to dress more conservatively.

At a graduation party, she was raped, and one of her guys walked in, saw it and assumed the situation was consensual. Instead of confronting her about "cheating" on them, all 3 guys vanished from her life (this part of the story was hard to believe. NONE of them tried to talk to her about it? I buy 1 guy ghosting her, but all 3?!).

So, she deals with the aftermath of this horrible traumatic experience all alone. Fast forward to 2 years later, she and her guys are now all at the same college. Her 3 exs finally find out what happened, realize that they REALLY fucked up, and decide to “un-fuck” their relationship with her. Meanwhile, the heroine is now a completely broken person, scared of her own shadow, prone to panic attacks, and prone to blaming herself for everything bad that’s happened to her.

On one hand, I would have liked her to have at least a LITTLE bit of anger towards her boyfriends. She’s so full of self-blame that there’s no angst in the way of her being pissed at them for their past behavior, which is very unsatisfying! On the other hand, I can’t judge a book by what I want it to be, only by what it is. And for whatever reason, this book isn’t interested in having the heroine be angry. It’s interested in having her be a wreck, and having the guys put her back together.

The story goes too far in making the heroine be SO broken. It’s frustrating how much she blames herself for everything, and constantly apologizes to the guys for how THEY behave. Even though the guys apologize for their past behavior, get angry with themselves, and assure her that she’s not to blame for anything, I didn’t leave the book feeling confident that her destructive mind-set was really healed. It feels more like the guys are her crutch. Like if they left, she’d be back to square one.

This sad-sack vibe also just took over her personality, so I couldn’t really tell you much about this girl, except for the fact that she’s the type of person who would get knocked over by someone and SHE would apologize to THEM, even when it’s obviously the other person’s fault.

Also, a lot of the stuff that her guys do to “heal” her just made me mad, because they didn’t discuss it with her first. Like, one of the guys sees that she’s triggered by him grabbing her wrist. So he just takes it upon himself to grab her wrist and hold onto it for a while, even while she’s literally having a panic attack (his goal is to try to get her used to it, like exposure therapy). I hate that!! And, she never shuts them down for this stuff, since she’s too busy apologizing for everything.

If you want an angsty story with heroes who really fuck up, and then realize it and try to heal the broken heroine, this isn’t a terrible read. Especially if you like to see heroes suffer and feel regret for their mistakes, this book scratches that itch. It’s just frustrating, because it’s a decent idea, but this plot could have been executed in a much better way.

So I’ve read the reviews - the ones that say she forgave the guys too easily or that it’s unrealistic or that her triggers and the guys’ responses were handled badly.

I disagree.

This book basically starts with Haisley being horrifically assaulted - sexually, physically, verbally. It’s heavy. The guys only find out about the assault years later, and face guilt for leaving her (believing that she was willingly participating in consensual acts).

Let me tell you. The way Haisley apologizes for everything, how she reacts to certain things and how “quickly” she takes the boys back? It’s spot on. THIS is normal PTSD behavior and I should know. I have c-PTSD. I apologize for everything. I react outwardly worse to benign things than I do severe triggers. And the boys? The type of trauma she suffered and how she was left? OF COURSE she’s going to be open to not feeling abandoned any longer. That doesn’t make her and the boys’ relationship toxic or troublesome in terms of her PTSD. It’s just the way it is. That is a part of her now - the reactions and compensations she’ll make to overcome what she had no control over. Even with therapy, her brain has been altered for better or worse.

And as far as the triggers go? They can only be deactivated if comfort levels are pushed in a safe environment. Regardless of her nervousness, Haisley felt safe with guys, when they started pushing her. I’ve had to be pushed on my own triggers. It SUCKS. It’s terrifying. But ultimately I come out the other side glad that I was pushed.

Honestly, I loved this book for the side it showed of trauma that isn’t the FMC kicking everyone’s butt and shrugging off the pain. I love those types - don’t get me wrong. But this was different and refreshing to see.

Give it a chance. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

A reverse harem where the heroes are idiots because they believe that the heroine scampered off to bathroom to have a quickie with the guy she's refused over and over. They are so stupid one of the idiots actually sees her getting raped and thinks she's there for kicks. They delete her text from the hospital and in general sit around butt hurt. That isn't even what made it a one star.

The author spends more time on writing about the sex rape than she does anything else. She writes about it the first time and leaves nothing out, then we get to have another graphically violent flashback where even more details are thrown in then through trauma therapy the rape is reenacted but this time with three guys that loved her so much so she knows she's safe. I am not a psychiatrist and don't play one on TV, but is this a thing? Reenact a rape for catharsis?

DNF 55%

ATONE is a short quick read that has the foundations of something potentially great, but unfortunately falls victim to its pacing and length. The backstory of the FMC and the MMCs is explained in the first five (short) chapters before the incident () occurs. We see some issues in their relationship, but they're brushed aside. They're only there to excuse the MMCs' future horrible behavior following the incident. There's a time jump, and everything's revealed in rapid succession. The MMCs find out the truth, immediately feel sorry, love bomb the FMC, and it's happy ever after. We never really get to know the characters or their personalities. (All I know is that one guy is into BDSM, the other is nice, and the last one's a jerk). The FMC isn't even upset at the MMCs, only at herself for "allowing" what happened. I read this book under the assumption that there would be a grovel, but is it really a grovel if the FMC has essentially already forgiven the MMCs and their transgressions?

Good story. 💯Raw trauma. Immaturely handled by her jerk ex bfs. We get good groveling. High level grovels. As expected for what they did and their part in her trauma. ✅

We get the bfs yesrs later, learning how to navigate her triggers and mental health issues. Trying to win her trust back while building her up. ‼️frankly, her issues are pretty much spot on for what she went thru. Healing doesn’t have a timeline. ♥️

But the author made her so SO damn messed up. I feel like this poor girl needs to be hospitalized bc she is so so far gone. 😪Like weekly therapy sessions are not enough for this level of deep trauma. And her panic attacks and mind circling the drain on a hourly basis, she needs inpatient care. Meds. MDs. Like. It is sad.
😭😭😭😭

Obviously this is a work of fiction so we suspend beliefs 🤫and all. But I just couldn’t release this review without pointing out the painfully obvious problem with this story.
The girl needs way more medical attention and care then what she was getting.

I don’t even know how to review this.

The H’s in this book were trash.
2/3 of them were not celibate during separation and the 1 that was had to ruin it by sometimes watching the other 2 have sex with people. I also hate that if she hadn’t randomly run into them in college they had absolutely no intentions of ever finding her again. So they’d have never known the truth about her attack or the hell she lived through since. Uhh this book pissed me off so much.

I should have dnf, idk why I didn’t. My sister told me this series was good I don’t know if she’s a fucking liar or if she meant the other books because I hated this one. Maybe I’ll try another one in future but not sure yet

I felt really bad for the h in this, like damn what happened to her was extremely horrific. I do think she let Anthony off the hook to easily, same with the guys. I understood he felt extremely bad but there should of been some anger towards him and there wasn't any. I'm also not a therapist but some of these scenes didn't seem right to me..

i read some of the reviews & the author’s foreword. i am not always a fan of the cPTSD books just because i don’t understand totally the decisions made by characters, but i respect it. this was good, and it was nice to see the growth in everyone.

This was a very hard one to rate.

The FMC was strong, very strong to endure what she did. Her trauma and the assault were handled realistically and I was proud of the author for doing it right.

Her brother being there for her was also a joy to read (so many SA stories don't take into account that most survivors need a support system to heal and recover especially in those first few months/years).

By this point, I was genuinely invested in the fmc's journey and eager to see how the boys would return to her life. But unfortunately, that was where this book fell short for me.

In my view, the love interests were too immature for Haze.

Maybe things would have been better if they were older than her, or just more mature guys generally (like her brother's age?) rather than the borderline teens they acted like.

Generally, when a FMC goes through some sh*t in a book, you want to see her MMCs step the eff up to support her and be there for her, rather than acting out or doing performative things to make themselves feel better/less guilty. But doing a successful grovel is hard work and we all have different ideas of what that looks like.

I didn't hate the guys but I just wanted more for Haze. I wanted men not boys. I wanted the kind of life-changing character growth and self-sacrifice from them that would prove her heart was safe with them forever.

TLDR: lots of folks will love this book and I definitely enjoyed certain elements enough to recommend it to others, but it didn't satisfy my grovel itch, I'm afraid.

This is a story of love, betrayal, atonement, and finding your way back. The story starts with Haisley, Anthony, Corey, and Bryant having already formed their RH, but they are in high school and the whispers, comments, and looks aren’t easy to handle. Then graduation night happens, and while at a party the guys end up leaving Haisley in a nightmare situation. When they see Haisley a couple years later, as she is starting to find herself again is starting college. The guys realize the enormity of their mistakes, and vow to try to make it up to her and to help her heal. I love that while the majority of the focus is on Haisley And helping her heal, we also get to see the guys realize their own damage and see them grow and heal too. I hurt for Haisley, and the pain that she goes through. I really liked that she wasn’t an in your face type FMC, and the guys really realize their mistakes based on her reactions and twisted thought. I loved seeing them start to communicate and heal together.

PS - definitely check the trigger warnings - the story does describe a noncon assault by someone outside the harem in detail, and it is discussed throughout

This started off really well, you met Haze and her guys when they're in school and the lead up to the SA, and how the boys reacted when they thought she'd cheated. Fast forward 2 years and they meet again in college where the guys learn what they thought happened was completely wrong and try to find ways to get Haze to forgive them.

What I liked was Haze, her triggers were realistic and I thought the author executed that well. I also loved Hunter, her big brother as he was her support system.

What I didn't like....
The guys. Not one of them spoke about the "cheating' even though the night it happened she told them she was at the hospital.
I felt like they didn't grovel, the FMC had already forgiven them so it's not really grovelling. Just more like trying to appease their own guilt.
I hate that Haze just forgave them and wasn't even angry with them. I Get that a lot of survivors have fully but being in 2 years worth of therapy I wanted to see anger.

I think it would of been better if say after a year she should have met someone completely new and have them stick with her, so she's realises her self worth. THEN go to college with her current bf and maybe the boys have earn her back(still including her current bf) instead of Hunter telling them what happened current nd explodes after Tony says something nasty on site to her in front of her and when she's safe confronts the guys.

I dunno, think that would have been better for character growth for her. As it stands I still don't like the guys, they broke her, even before the SA happened. She deserves better then what they offer.

2.5 stars.
The writing was fine and I like the idea of the storyline, but that's when I start questioning a few things. Firstly, none of her three boyfriends trust her fidelity, and not one takes the time to even write to her. The boys (that's what they are - definitely not men) are so immature and literally tries to avoid being seen with her in public, despite her openness about their relationship.

In the beginning the fmc is such a strong character, and after the incident she's a shadow of herself. This is totally realistic, but the fact that the boys think that her "new" self is more likeable, is a little disgusting. The fmc spends a long time working through her trauma, and I hate that she has no hate at all towards the boys. She only blames herself, and the fact that there's no real groveling from the boys, because she doesn't blame them, makes me really annoyed, because it feels like they're only getting together out of guilt.

Despite the aforementioned, I always like to acknowledge when an author chooses a different way to depict trauma and healing. I may not agree with this specific healing - since the guys are practically her life lines instead of her finding that inner peace - but the author does make some good points along the way, and it's nice to finally have finished it after taking a break from it.

1. 18 yr old virgin Doms? Rolling my eyes so hard right now. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
2. Let me get this straight ... Anthony, Bryant and Corey were in a relationship with Haisley. They were all madly in love. Haisley got SA at a party but all three guys believed that she cheated because since she was willing to be in a relationship with three men, she must be the type to cheat?? 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
3. The author set us up for an epic grovel by the three Hs but instead, we got a h that blamed herself for her own rape and did nothing but apologize for everything that happened.

What a story. Harrowing to read, but it gripped me in so many ways.

3.5/5. I feel that with this story spoilers are important. I needed to know that Haisley got her happy ever after.
I had to read this as her story and her story alone. Given the premise, it was not an easy read and readers should approach with caution and read the trigger warnings.
I don’t have any triggers and have read some dark dark romance books, but I had to take a deep breath with the more harrowing chapters. The one thing I did hold onto was the romantic side of the story.
The SA was hard to read, no doubt about it, the book didn’t hold back. All actions and decisions made in the book I felt was very well thought out, especially with Haisley’s reactions and her triggers. The understanding behind SA was prevalent throughout the story. Was it the deepest and most heart wrenching story I’ve ever read….no. I did feel although the author had a strong grasp on emotions, sometimes it felt too ‘on the surface’ for me. Perhaps it was down the pacing and things moving forward quickly, but I felt that some opportunities were missed and the thoughts behind actions didn’t linger long enough for me to really feel. It delved deep, but it didn’t ruminate enough for me in despair.

Despair…that’s the word I’m looking for. I think the realisation from Bryant, Corey and Anthony didn’t hold long enough for me. I felt their guilt, I felt their regret, I felt their sadness, but (for me) I didn’t feel on their knees despair of their actions and what had happened. The line after they started to realise the truth, “we f****d up”, just fell short for me. They monumentally had a hand in abandoning Haisley, and Anthony, although he wasn’t to blame for how it started, he didn’t stop it either and what happened to her was horrific. That’s another word I didn’t feel from them, I didn’t feel they were horrified by their actions and horrified for Haisley to what had actually happened that evening. Perhaps again it was the pacing, and their slow realisation uncovering everything. I felt it concentrated too long on them finding out what happened, rather than concentrating on their emotional reaction. That stuck out the most for me at that part of the story. I may feel differently reading it a second time around (I will edit/add to the review if I DO feel differently).

I think for some Haisley’s forgiveness will be hard to grasp. I did have to detach myself slightly from getting too much in her head and read it as her story only. It was up to her to forgive them, not me. I don’t feel like that in every book I read, sometimes I’m hating on the main character and their road to their HEA and don’t agree with how it’s written or the outcome. With this book, and due to the nature of the storyline, I felt it was Haisley’s decision only, and it wasn’t for me to tell her how she should feel. Clever writing!
A gripping read, that I will definitely read again.

A second chance, overcoming trauma, fixing a HUGE misunderstanding... a sweet, loving read!

This book is unlike any I've ever read. It's so heartbreaking, a bit frustrating, and underneath it all, it's so, so sweet.

To start, Haisley is in a relationship with three boys at school - Anthony, Corey, and Bryant. They all love each other, but others at their school just don't understand the dynamic and bully them ruthlessly over it. To begin, it was just towards Haisley, but eventually, it made its way to the boys, too. She didn't care what anyone else said. However, it started getting to the other three. They started to distance themselves from her, not wanting any PDA, and even went as far as criticizing what she wore. She never complained - she loved them, so she did what she could to make them more comfortable.

Graduation came and went, and Haisley convinced them to go to a party that their friend was hosting. They didn't want to, but reluctantly went. It was here everything changed their lives forever, because of greedy, self entitled boys and a HUGE misunderstanding.

It's two years later that Haisley and the guys see each other again. They avoided her after the party, ignored her calls and texts, and even moved away early for college without telling her. It's two years later that they realize things weren't as they appeared, and they dig for the truth. When it's uncovered what happened, they discover they made a COLOSSAL mistake and somehow need to fix things, but it will take a LOT of time, work, and patience.

I've read books before where one of the main male characters has made a big mistake or done something really stupid, and I wonder how he'll EVER redeem himself. While reading this, I honestly had no idea how I'd get over being mad at the one character, even somewhat one of the others. They may say they're sorry, they may believe it even, but in my mind it's never enough and they need to grovel HARD. In this book, a big chunk of it is just that - the guys begging for forgiveness and trying to earn Haisley's trust back. However, the one character who messed up the most said two specific things in this book that actually made me sit back and think, "Okay... I get it. HE gets it. He really loves her, and despite doing *inserts what he did here to avoid spoilers*, it doesn't matter because he truly, deeply loves her." I've NEVER been satisfied so fully with a man's apology or excuse for what he's done, but S.E. Green NAILED this unlike any author I've ever come across.

If you enjoy a book where the men are all in, have infinite love for their woman, where the men realize their mistakes and grovel, and have a happily ever after, you need to read this book. A second chance story, where the female main character rises above her trauma and takes back her life. It's absolutely worth every bit of my 5/5 stars!

Really Good

Its been a while since I had a book make me get teary eyed but this one did after the guys find out what really happened and they go see her for the first time.😭 This is the first book I've read with the harem already formed but they were dysfunctional because of bullying they got from school and how they treated Haisley I felt was a little abusive which I did not like. (Granted they realized that after the fact but still) Then graduation night happens and she is assaulted and Anthony walks in and thinks it's consensual (there is an Anthony chapter I did not read explaining why he did what he) I was to upset. Where is SA on page. After 2 years the guys find out what really happened and are devastated what they did to her and do everything to make up for their mistakes. Overall a beautiful story of healing. I did see somewhere that they rated this a 4/5 🌶 it is not which is fine its a dark subject matter. There is more fade to black then anything. But I would've liked all the spice be from her perspective and how she was feeling. But I will end with saying this for all of those who criticize the main character on how she handled any of these situations please don't everyone handles and processes trauma differently and everyone's journey is different.

Good... but not great??

This novel is a bit difficult for me to review. It's about a girl named Haisley (which was annoying bc I kept reading it Halsey in my head only to go back and go it's Haisley you idiot!), who while dating her 3 best friend goes to a party and something traumatic happens. The guys think she betrays them, and they all leave for college without her. 2 years later, they find out what really happened that night and decide they are going to help her heal. My problem is that while they are sorry for their part, they pretty much force themselves back into her life, whether she wants them to or not. At the point, she's fragile, and she's so eager to please that they sort of use that to their advantage to reinsert themselves. It's almost like she doesn't have a chance to come to the decision to forgive them. It's just thrust upon her.
The book is well written, as it was an easy somewhat enjoyable read, but I hate that if they hadn't found out what actually happened that night and felt guilty they would never have approached her again. I know they were 18 and immature idiots (weren't we all), but communication would have saved them years of heartache.
Overall, I'd say it was ok, not something I would ever reread

4.5 ⭐️ I was hesitant to read this book because I read mixed reviews. I am glad I finally did and was pleasantly surprised. This book takes a different approach to trauma. The FMC is brutally traumatized and her guys miss take the event and think she was cheating on them. They all run into each other a few years later and she’s completely different because she suffers greatly from anxiety and PTSD. What I like about this story is it doesn’t take the whole book for the MMCs to find out the truth. They find out the true story very quickly. The story is about the group dealing with the event and the PTSD. She has complete victim mentality. But the guys realize what they have done wrong in their prior relationship and how that contributed to the event. I really loved that point. They examined their mistakes and worked to fix them. It was a different spin on this type of story which I appreciated this aspect. My only complaint is I would have liked it to be a bit longer to see how the group functions in the real world and faces obstacles together because they struggled with that in the first go around.

3.5 Stars Rounded up

I think I mainly read Atone by S.E. Green for the Grovel. Going into Atone, I knew there would be a descriptive, traumatic S.A. Scene, and it hit the mark on what I was looking for. The grovel was good. Mostly, they showed they could and would be reliable and show her they weren't the boys they once were.
While Atone hit many of the marks I was looking for in a grovel, hurt/comfort book, I found myself skimming through quite a bit of it. When it came down to the fmc needing extra comfort, having panic attacks, etc., the guys were there and would be very comforting and have her talk about it. The "let's talk about it" or "Why did you have that reaction" moments felt like most of the book. It felt like I was reading a therapy session book or a How to Become a Therapist book. While I enjoyed the grovel and knowing the MCs could step up for the fmc and support her, those moments seemed overkill and went on for a while.

Overall, I would recommend Atone for those who want a hurt/comfort, betrayal-and-grovel type of book with descriptive S.A. in it.

Spice was 2/5
The betrayal definitely hit pretty hard

This book could be considered in two parts! The past and present! And both are equally heartbreaking! Haisley is a very strong and relatable character to me! She was just getting by after what happened a few years ago. The boys she loved behaved badly and boy do they grovelllllll... This was some of the best groveling I have read! I really enjoyed most aspects of this book! I have read many trauma filled books and found that this one treated anxiety and trauma a little differently!

When it came to Haisley and her triggers the men in her life pushed her to limits that border on uncomfortable! And maybe that was the point but for me it took me out of the story of rebuilding trust and love between the characters. I feel the book would have been best fleshed out as a duet to help built the bonds again. Also, a second book would help with the strong BDSM undertones!
Overall, I read this book in one night AND DID LOVE IT! I wouldn't mind seeing this group again in another book!

Holy shit…. Like, actually….. what the FUCK was this?

these dudes are scary????? the way they treat her in the beginning, have no faith in her, abandon her for two years returning only when they learn she was actually assaulted… ONLY to then make a choice behind her back for some weird fucked up exposure therapy?

imagine you were brutally restrained during your assault, and your ex bf (who abandoned you that same night) grabs your arm, triggering you— he immediately realizes what’s happening but decides he’s going to keep holding your arm so you can “work through the trigger.” Without your consent or knowledge. Tell me that isn’t absolutely batshit.

this girl went through a traumatic assault and the way these three guys are SO aggressive in their behavior with her immediately upon seeing her again is legitimately insane.

It doesn’t matter that they “love her” and are meant to be our heroes. I cannot suspend my disbelief here. This was actually crazy.

And no, I will not hear otherwise.

Heartbreakingly beautiful

Wow. Just, wow. I'm utterly speechless in a really good way. This was one heck of a book. It deals with the horrific violent and intimate attack of the FMC and the resulting aftermath, as well as the relationship she had before the attack and the atonement of the MMCs. I sobbed, and sobbed and sobbed. I had to put the book down and walk away for half an hour I was shaking so much. Guys, there are serious triggers and this amazing author details them in the beginning of the book - take heed they are there for a reason. This story of heartbreak, misunderstanding, violence, trauma, pain, ptsd and beautiful earth shattering love is just.... Beautiful. Beautiful. If you can, please do read this, it is incredible.

This was my first S.E. Green book and…I’m still processing.

As someone who has experienced SA, not to the magnitude of Haisley…this book was so heartbreaking, beautiful, and healing. I literally feel like my soul was torn to shreds then put back together with all the love.

I honestly loved the relatability this book had. The way it started out with their relationship, the hardship they faced because of it, and the fact that they came back together. We didn’t witness the relationships take place, but we start in on it already having been years in. The flaws in the characters, the attack on Haisley, the guys’ reaction and how they later came back to help Haisley heal. It was all written and done so well that it was absolutely believable that this could be a real life situation we were looking in to.

Anthony, Bryson and Corey, even with their flaws at the beginning, were an incredible support system for Haisley- I found myself jealous that she had that for her through her healing journey. The character development for everyone was one of the best I’ve ever seen.

I seriously cannot praise this book enough. Brilliantly, beautifully well done. 🫶🏻

Fantastic read

This book was so good. I think it has some of the most accurate mental descriptions of trauma I've read and it really made me feel understood in a way that I don't even understand myself with my own trauma. Specifically the switch from comfortable natural conversation to responses feeling unnatural. I always feel kind of crazy trying to explain that kind of brain fog because no one so far has understood what I meant. I wasn't expecting to read about what I go through on an rh book but it just made everything feel more relatable for me while I read. Well written wonderful hea Rh.

O.M.G too good to put down

EVERYONE MUST READ THIS. I'm not gonna lie some parts of this are hard to get through BUT I COULDNT put it down. Sooo good and the end had me in tears with gratification and emotions. The MFC is so sweet and absolutely relatable that you just break for her and then you can't help but cheer as the story progresses. The MMCs all have their own wonderful, likable, and occasionally exasperating personalities. Buckle up for a hard one and enjoy this ride as it grips your heart and gives a giant squeeze. 5/5 stars

I think my hopes were too high going into this. I expected more...

More angst. More public demonstrations of their reconciled relationship in college, and reactions from fellow students/faculty.

The first part was perfect, and the "breakup" was heart wrenching.

After that, even with the unconventional therapy treatment, everything just felt a little cliche. And a little more D/S than I prefer.

Just a little too focused on recovering their sex life than on relationship development outside the bedroom.

Amazing story

This was an amazing story. Both the development of the story arc and the characters. I loved the way S.E. Green dealt with the MFC’s trauma and all that she went through. I also really appreciated, from a therapist’s perspective, how she handled the character of Missy and the use of trauma therapy. As a trauma therapist-in-training, to read that being used and in such a beneficial and positive manner was inspiring. Finally, I loved seeing how the MMCs developed and grew throughout the story. Really a great book overall, despite the heavy topic it delves into.

emotional rollercoaster

Wow! This was my first book by this author and it was such an emotional read. I couldn’t put this down. This is so well written, it made me feel so heartbroken for the FMC for all she experienced. The authors handles sensitive subject with care.

I love how the grovelling is realistic and done well without rushing. The slow burn nature was totally appropriate to the subject matter too. Loved it, will definitely reread

well handled but so many typos

Excellent handling of SA (on page) and aftermath, and healing, including trauma therapy. It was written in a way to offer atonement for betrayal, plus recognized PTSD. I appreciate that the author did not shy away from this trope or fade to black. Will definitely read another.

Alas, all the syntax errors bring down what would have been a brilliant novel; recommend having a second editor or proofreader.
