This is a RH standalone story with some darker themes and adult content, aimed at readers 18+.
Erin O'Kane is an independent author from the UK. She used to work within healthcare, but now is able to follow her dream as a full time author. Writing is her escape and a dream she never thought possible until she was given a push from her friends and family.
She has an addiction to coffee, Lucozade and baked goods. When not writing she will be found on adventures with her husband, reading a book or watching bad romance movies.
First of I want to say thank you to Erin O'Kane for providing me with a review copy. This fact does not in any way affect my personal opinion of this book.

My opinion: I had expectations that were sadly not fullfilled to 100 % - but despite that I did enjoy reading this book. It was a fast paced, humerous but still a bit dark themed reverse harem book.
Even though I really like RH books, this one wasn't it for me. The chemistry between the characters wasn't there. It felt too rushed (and yes I know, it's a shorter book) and the relationship between the characters felt forced. All the "problems" were solved too quickly for how hurt the fmc felt and how she reacted during said problems.
Do I recommend this book? Yes - to anyone who enjoys RH books and is over the age of 18 (please) and if you'd like to read a short book, this one is definetly for you.
Will I read it again? Unfortunately no, but I'd still love to read more of the author because her style of writing is entertaining.
Do you ever read a book and think; I don’t ever want this to end? Because that’s exactly how I felt reading this. It’s filled with angst, tension, passion, romance, love, lies, secrets and trust. It’s an emotional rollercoaster, that’s for sure. Every time you think it’s going well and it’s finally happiness, BANG, Erin throws in a plot twist that turns you inside out and makes your heart rate go through the roof. the amount of times I gasped, threw my kindle and screamed into my pillow is insane. Honestly I’ve just finished it and now I’m begging for more, I need an extended epilogue, I need MORE. Marie is incredibly brave and strong. I loved how she handled everything that was thrown at her, she’s a fighter and will continue to fight no matter what. The boys, wow I love them all. But fuck me did they really have to keep those secrets and lie like that???? I wanted to bitch slap them all. They all grovelled and did everything that they could to prove to Marie that they’re sorry and they love her 🥹 they all had me blushing and swooning. Don’t even get me started on the spicy scenes… holy shit I was like a bitch in heat 🔥🔥🔥
Second Chance was a quick read that I was able to finish in one sitting. It has angst, danger, suspense, drama, heartbreak, secrets, and spice. Marie’s controlling husband has unexpectedly passed away and left a whole heap of trouble for her. To get away from it all she takes a trip to Antigua for a holiday. While there she meets three very different men. Trent, Daniel, and Logan might be different from each other but they all three fall for Marie fast and hard!
I really enjoyed this story but felt that the ending was rushed a bit. I would have loved an epilogue to show us a little of their lives after everything settled. I also feel like Marie forgave the guys too easily. Again, things felt rushed. I also wish that there was the guys’ point of views. I would have loved to know their thoughts while navigating the relationships between them all. Overall, I would recommend this if you like reverse harems that aren’t too dark.
Second Chance follows recently widowed Marie DaCosta as she takes a vacation to Antigua after the accidental death of her husband, billionaire Victor DaCosta and the constant questions surrounding his death. While on her flight, she meets the charming Trent, an artist also going to Antigua, who gives her his number to get together on her trip. Once she arrives at her hotel, she also meets a handsome business man named Daniel, and another man named Lucas.. all of which she begins to care for as they also care for her. As she begins to relax, and go on dates with all three of the men, the threatening messages she was receiving at home begin to appear again. Can Marie keep the personal threat away? And can she keep all three of the men in her life?
This story was an entertaining ride; we dealt with mystery, suspense, romance and steamy spice. Marie definitely had an interesting time in Antigua, and one that definitely had it ups. I do have to say that I loved Marie's character, she had the ability to enjoy life, be independent, and be caring. And, the men she meets each have a little something that no one else has, which is nice because you get flavors. Trent, Daniel and Logan are great though, really, and I love them all. Now the storyline does have a bit of an emotional rollercoaster but it is a page-turner right from the start. I loved the flow of the story, you really did lose track of time which definitely makes this a great read if you're looking for a entertaining RH.
It’s a cute read. The characters are charming, developed, the plot is interesting. It almost feels like a version of clue, just when you think you can guess then next move “it’s not the butler…”
Hallmark side: dream vacation, freedom from an overbearing, miserable marriage, meets 3 irresistible men who each have their own gorgeous features and personalities. Cute dates, steamy scenes, walks on the beach. Heart break, flees from said heartbreak, they come to woe her back.
Netflix side: there is depth to the deceit, true genuine emotions of rapid feelings, and intrigue as well as a aura of mystery around each character as they figure out their next move, handle the next curve ball, and aim for a happy ever right now that can grow into forever.
I really enjoyed this book and I’m for second chances and Marie certainly deserves it …..but is all what it seems ? Antigua here she comes , for ,sun, solace, and rest ….ha like that’s gonna happen along come not 1 but 3 gorgeous, sexy, handsome, godlike looking men who devour Marie in more way then one and she can not choose so why should she …I mean she is on her holibobs right….this book has , sexual tension, chemistry, love, aghast , tears and mayhem but Marie is a trooper, strong, determined young women who loves with her whole heart ….what shall she do …..? Well you will just have to read it and see…..
A holiday in Antigua sounded exactly like what she needed to recover, recoup and reconnect with her inner self, in order to face everything and everyone that was after her dead husband's money.
But then they happened...
This is a completely different style of book to what Erin O'Kane usually writes, and it was both a fantastic palate cleanser and a thoroughly enjoyable read on what might be a new direction from her.
My only criticism of this book is how easily the main character forgives. I like a bit more angst and turmoil along with alot of begging when things go wrong.
But all in all I loved the idea of the story, and the guys individually.
This is a why choose romance. I have read a few books by Erin O’Kane and this particular book wasn’t my favorite, not bad just not what I was expecting. The female main character is dealing with loss and issues that come with that loss in traditional and nontraditional ways. There are some triggers please read the trigger warning. Is a billionaire a romance and a journey in the process if you enjoy those kinds of things I definitely recommend again just wasn’t for me at this point in time wasn’t a bad book but also wasn’t my favorite
This book is a complete change of pace in terms of genre. I love Erin’s cursed women series and this was completely different for me.
I really enjoyed this book and read it super quick. There was such suspense in this story, it was great. It was super fun it constantly be guessing at who was behind the threats, also damn I wasn’t expecting that shocker near the end either. Fantastic world building and I loved the characters . I think my faves would be Logan or Daniel haha.
Marie is suddenly widow when her abused billionaire husband dies. She is now having to deal with the mess surrounding his death. She is needing a breaking and heads to Antigua. Where she meet three different men who will fall in love with her. Trent, Daniel, and Logan will show her what love and happiness should be. And just went things are looking up her past comes crashing in. Can they survive or will they crash and burn?
This was such an easy book to slide into and it felt warm, like a beautiful summer's day. I liked Marie, she felt older than 26, probably due to her life experiences. Her men were all very different and I loved how possessive they each were. I would've loved a group scene with all of them but the one with Marie, Logan and Trent was great. This is a great feel good book, with a nice undercurrent of threat and secrets!
Second Chance by Erin O' Kane is a contemporary standalone where our heroine does not have to choose between her love interests.
In this story, our heroine is a widow who happens to run into three men while on vacation. These three men are just who she needs as she navigates life without her controlling husband, and I enjoyed all their interactions together from the first moment she meets each of them. I also loved the mystery around what happened with the missing money.
This was an alright read. It's very fast burn, and I can't say much without giving away some of the twists but i do think the fmc is pretty trusting. It was a quick read that held my attention for the most part. I always find it interesting to see the dynamics of the group when they aren't pre-established and sharing isn't the societal norm, so that was entertaining
This was a quick RH read where the characters fall quickly, and things move fast. The characters were interesting and the suspense storyline intriguing so it had amazing potential from early on but to me it felt like that wasn’t reached, a lot ends up happening, but it felt like it wasn’t explored enough or things that should have been explored weren’t. I did enjoy ‘Second Chance’, but it left me wanting more from it.
Wow, what a read. This book was a fantastic read that grabbed me from the moment that I started reading. It moves along at a great pace making for an easy read. The characters are amazing and you will fall in love with them no matter what and the story grabs you and keeps you reading until the end. This book is a must read, no doubt about it.
Wow, what an amazing book. You wouldn’t believe this author doesn’t usually write contemporary stories as this book is just fantastic.
I loved how much detail there was and the characters were all amazingly well written with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing as well. I absolutely loved this book!
Second Chance was an easily lovable Standalone that left me feeling good. Marie is unexpectedly a widow and finds herself connecting with three very different men while on a trip. There is good steam, world building, and relationship development. The suspense of the story puts me over the top in enjoying this book!
Marie goes on vacation to escape from her husbands death and secrets and she meets three unlikely guys during it. Each is carrying their own secrets of their past and they band together to support Marie. This book does have spice and some stalker/mystery elements and the plot was very well done! Loved this book!!
Interesting story which kept you guessing till the end. Nice blend of guys as well. A refreshing read and something different. Not your usual trope. I love books by this author.
Short and sweet with a bit of action at the end! I genuinely really enjoyed Erin’s book! I would have liked some bits to be more in depth however all the marks were hit and I couldn’t put this book down!
I really hope that Erin continues to write contemporary RHs as I loved this book!
Oh my lanta YES! This is a stand alone and I a mother tucking love love love 💖 it! Soooooo well written the character development is amazing and man what a ride. Amazing read 🙂
Well this certainly is a change to Erin’s usual genre of books .. it is fast paced and certainly keeps you on the end of your seat . It’s not my type of book but I enjoyed it .
Second Chance is a contemporary, RH, romantic suspense read I have been following/ reading this author's books and this is her first dip into contemporary romance genre. With that said, this was an enjoyable, fast paced, steamy and mid-angst read. The story starts when Marie had to leave for a vacation to get away from the problems that her dead husband piled on her. During this holiday get-away, she met three hot men, Trent, Daniel and Logan who would play a big part in solving her problems. These men proved to Marie that their little holiday romance doesn't end at Antigua and they continued to be her rock during her hellish encounters. If you're looking for a good beach holiday read with a little bit of suspense, then this one is for you.
