Of my books, this is my personal favorite. To walk through the Gospels is to walk with Jesus, our God, our Creator, our Lover and Savior, who is the perfect expression of His invisible Father; who is the ideal and perfect Man; and is the greatest Hero in the greatest story that ever was, who bravely conquered sin and death for our sake. I don’t expect anyone to stay up all night reading this somewhat lengthy volume; but instead to wander along slowly, relishing all that Jesus is and all He has done for us. May your devotions be as rich as mine have been in these treasured books, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John…and may these marvelous stories acquire new depth and clarity as we behold them together. All my devotional notes are intended to lift the reader out of the narrow, near-sighted confines of material existence into a vision of transcendence and eternality with which our mundane lives are not worthy to be compared, so that we inhabit the everlasting spiritual realm in our hours and days, with our eyes firmly fixed upon our Savior Jesus who loves us so dearly and awaits our Homecoming.
