my least favorite in the series for sure but i did still enjoy it for the most part. my main complaint is that Cole and Lexi barely interact for the whole book since Cole’s kinda off on his own wrecking havoc and trying to indirectly protect Lexi. so because of this, the romance doesn’t have a satisfying conclusion and the whole arc of it all was just anticlimactic. idk if it’s just me but I felt like this one lacked a bit of that intensity and unpredictability of the others that came before it. i can’t wait to see more of the other characters now in the spinoff and im glad i decided to pick this series up on a whim cause it’s been a fun journey that i can’t believe is finally over. i am hoping I’ll get some closure for Cole and Lexi’s relationship in Sahira’s books though.

Is Cole coming back to Lexi? Is Lexi going to be the queen she wishes to be? Will their love be strong enough to resist and to fight the shadows?…
The characters’ evolution is incredible. Lexi is growing up to be the adult and the strong woman her people deserves; Cole is fighting his demons and trying to protect Lexi from them.
I strongly recommend this series. It’s so beautiful! But you should start with Shadows of Fire. Otherwise you’ll miss a lot.
One thing I guarantee, you’ll fall for Cole!

I liked this book much better than the last but more importantly than that. It's finally over! Cole and Lexi's tale is finally done. Thank God! I enjoyed them as a couple and overall I do like this series but I stand by that they didn't need 6 books. Their story should've ended in book 4 but Brenda wanted to drag it out for some reason. I will definitely be reading book 7 because I've enjoyed Sahira and Orin's dynamic for awhile now plus I'm ready to read about another couple. I won't hype it up but I'm expecting their book to give me all that I crave in a good enemies to lovers book. Same for Brokk and Kaylia when their book comes. I don't know who she'll put Varo with, if she decides to(hopefully so. He's precious) but I can't wait to read it as well. Now that we're finally moving on to the brothers books. I'm excited about this series again.

Well, this brings us to the end of Cole and Lexi's story. I can't tell you that I'm sad it's over. While I loved them from the get-go, my love slowly diminished as the series went on. They spent less and less time together, Cole got more and more psycho, and Lexi accumulated more and more power.

I will admit that it was nice after hating Cole so much through the last couple books, to have a big chunk of this one from his point of view now that the shadows aren't completely in control of him, but now Lexi is gone, apparently we can't get them all the way together.

We do get an ending and some closure, but it's kind of an open-ended ending. We're moving on to another couple's story, and I assume we'll have to watch through their eyes to see how the story of Cole and Lexi really ends.

I'm excited to read about someone new, but yet stay in this world. I don't know if Lexi's story needed to be six books long, as I was getting bored of the same things over and over again. The side characters in this series were always my favorite, so I'm so happy they get their own stories.

CONS:
1. I’m not a huge fan of Lexi’s aunt or Orin. I’m not sure why but I just don’t care for them, so the ending to this one and the hint-hint that the next one revolves around an issue with them kind of makes me sigh in disappointment. I’m sure the next one will be great…but it may take time for me to dive into it.
2. This may be a pro for some (and it is written rather well) but the fighting and killing scenes are so graphic. There is a water scene near the end that last several chapters and the whole time I was like “oh god, oh my! Ew! Ah! That’s just…unsettling.” I’m not a gore person, and with Davies’ amazing descriptive writing I could picture it all… not a pretty sight haha.

Overall, this one is a great addition to the series and should be labeled as the best yet. I cannot wait to see where Lexi and Cole’s journey takes us next. Make sure you pick this one up and start your New Year out right with a Brenda K Davies novel in your hand and an amazing love story in your heart.

Usually, last book is the big grand finale. There would be happy end, happy times- happy shit, right?

Not this book. We get new shit thrown into it where Cole has to save Lexi and then we are left this weirdness of not having a happy ending for this couple and we are having a entire chapter or two of next couple.

I wanted closure!
I wanted happy ending!
I wanted marriage!
I wanted babies!
I wanted to know how they are going to rule two realms at the time!
I wanted closure and I got nothing!

I am so damn disappointed in this particular book.

PS: We do have a happy ending in a way that they are both alive and well but they won’t marry because Cole’s two brothers are missing. I feel this is like read the rest to know their happy ending! I invested 6 books to get that and now it’s like what? Two couples are missing- each get like 2-3 books? So that makes me another 6 books to go through 🫠

*Audiobook* Wow! What a great conclusion to Lexi and Cole’s story! Damn, have they been THROUGH it! Sheesh! I hope Brenda is gonna let them babies rest and let them love on each other for more than 5 minutes now! 😂 I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to this series! I definitely recommend for anyone looking for a running series with fantasy (all the creatures!) and a decent amount of spice. This book didn’t have quite as much as some of the earlier books, but honestly there was just so much going on that I didn’t need it to stay engaged! That ending was quite unexpected but then I found out that there’s going to be 2 more books this year 😳 centered around Orin and Sahira. Not sure if I’ll be back for those…maybe, we’ll see. If they’re audiobooks by Meg Price, then most definitely, bc I really enjoyed listening to her read these books and to hear anyone else do these voices would be a little off for me. 😂 This series took a while to get through, but it was great and I definitely recommend, especially for those that like longer series. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I ended up liking, especially for a random pickup for me with book 1 and not knowing anything about the series other than the blurb. 🤙🏼💕

Wow! What a roller-coaster of a ride! This series is really good. The storytelling is amazing and it just keeps you sucked into the story.

The Lord is finally defeated but not without some sacrifices. Friends were lost and Cole was consumed by the Shadows, something he had to do to keep Lexi safe.

I definitely recommend reading this series.

Although there is a lot of repeated monologue, the story is magnificent! Cole & Lexi overcome so much grief, but their story is quite concluded to give room to a new story. I was bitting my nails and missed some sleep to get to the end. I can rest now.. 😌

PROS
- I hate that I love Orin. He is an arrogant, selfish ass. I would probably hate him in real life but I love him in this book. I look forward to his book, even though I don’t think Sahiri has much of a personality.
- I was very much over Cole in the last book because I found the shadows annoying. However, in this book I enjoyed him. He continued to fight to not let the shadows take him over but would let them reek havoc on the enemies. That’s the fun part.
- I love the authors writing. Her description of everything without being too detailed and strung out allows me to envision the scenery, characters and situations so well. Her fight scenes are so well done that I get nervous and excited for the battles.

CONS
- there wasn’t any big overall threat. I didn’t have any hatred for anyone. I despised the Lord and couldn’t wait to see him destroyed. I didn’t get the anticipation in this one.
- I miss Lexi’s personality. I understand that with her new queenly responsibilities and the loss of Cole and so many people that she is overwhelmed. However, I still mis the old Lexi.
- her taking in the shadows during sex was very anti-climatic.
- I like getting the POVs from different characters but there were too many this time.

This was an audio book read.
I was going to be a 5 star review but I knocked it down to a 4 because after 6 f**k**g books the story is not truly over.
The ending was fine, but not the true happy ending Lexi and Cole deserve. The adventure in this had me on the end of my seat most of the time and I was loving it (probably my most favorite out of all of the books). The battle seen was intense, thrilling, and sad (characters get killed off 😢). The spice at this point is getting a little boring 🥱.
But my main complaint, as with all of these books, is the writing. I had to read a few reviews to figure out what I didn’t like about the writing, and it is the REPETITION. This author LOVES to repeat herself! My book will be reading along and a sentence or phrase will be read and I will swear the book just skipped back to different part of the story or to one of the other books. This happens several times in ALL of these books.
I have decided this author is not for me but the narrator “Meg Price” was good.

I will also not be continuing this story because I don’t think it ends, EVER. After listening to some samples and reading reviews it appears that the next 3 books 7-9 “the Cursed series “ revolve around Orin and Sahira in the Cursed Realm. Not Lexi and Cole 🤨. And books 10 & 11 revolve around Brokk and Kaylia. Not Lexi and Cole 🤬. I do not have it in me to commit to at least 5-6 more books just to get back to the original store of Lexi and Cole.

I can't believe there are already 6 books in this series! I kind of wish I had found this series after it finished because there is so much to take in and I tend to forget side characters and things that have happened because of the time between books lol. But that is a me problem. With that being said can I just say that my heart broke for Lexi all over again in this book.

Lexi is not only navigating being a new queen but also how to survive without her mate. Cole left the group to protect them after he let the shadows take over. While the king is dead the threats against Lexi are still front and center. Lexi has no idea who is friend or foe and the betrayals just keep coming in this book. I honestly felt so depressed for most of the book lol. The only thing that helped was the dragons. I LOVED Alina and her babies and this was such a bright spot in the story and something I wish there had been more of. I am hoping in the next book we get more dragons.

As always Branda knows how to world-build and create such amazing characters. I honestly am attached to everyone and I think it would break my heart (again) if we lose anyone else in the next book.

Looking forward to the next book and what is in store for Lexi and Cole.

I received this book in exchange for my honest review! This is 100 % my opinion!

Shadow of Light starts out with Lexi being the new ruler of Dragonia and the shadow realms . After Cole took in all the shadows to help defeat the crazed lord he had to go into hiding as the shadows had over taken him he was destroying and threat to Lexi that he could find. After Lexi hunts Cole down and gives herself over to him they realize what the prophecy truly means and Cole is finally his self again but when a threat noone sees coming attacks Lexi they must do everything they can to save her or risk Cole destroying them all! They must hunt down the ellusive flower to save Lexis life can they do that before Cole loses it? This book is the last in Cole and Lexis journey but not the last of this series. I had a hard time putting it down I stayed up late into the night to finish knowing I had to get up early for work but that's what a good book does. This is book 6 in a series if you haven't started yet start with shadows of fire you will not be disappointed!

Will the love between Lexi and Cole be stronger than the Shadows that possess him?

So much is going right for Lexi, except her relationship with Cole.
Sure, there are still battles to win with enemies, realms to repair and rebuild alliances, dragon babies to love on, and trying to make sense out of the chaos and destruction the Lord created everywhere. Add in just learning how best to lead as a new Queen and only Arach in eons.

Living without Cole is stressing Lexi with her worry for him. Cole, with the Shadows, is battling those that would harm Lexi, but will the Shadows completely take him over or will Cole fight them to keep his Lycan and vampire connections to Lexi intact?

This addition to the series has so much going on with the various realms, their inhabitants, and Lexi and Cole. Lots of tension, yearning and resolution fill the book. I'm looking forward to the next one!

So I struggled with this one a little. I think it's because it was a lot of the same thing for a really long time in this book. And maybe it just felt like it, but man, it was time for them to finally get together. But this book had them apart for the majority of it. And then when they get together, it's like another bam and they are separated and having to fight again...sigh.

It was getting frustrating. I also didn't really feel like there was a "closure" for them. I mean, they aren't getting married because all of a sudden the brothers are missing and they want their family there, which is understandable. So where's the closure for them?

Because clearly the next book is Sahira and Orin as they are now trapped in a world together. So I think I'm going to take a break for a bit with this series. I'm hoping it will bring back how I originally felt with this series.

Another blockbuster! This is the 6th installment in the Shadow Realms series and the story just keeps getting better! The thrills, the action, the twists & turns will leave you on the edge of your seat!

The war is over, but not all is good…yet. Lexi and Cole are apart. Lexi is left alone to learn to rule the realms while Cole tries to keep the shadow from taking over and turning him dark. He wants to get back to Lexi and her light, but right now he needs to stay away to keep her safe, even if it means he is putting himself at risk.

Can Lexi pull things together and successfully rebuild and lead Dragonia? Can Cole beat the shadow and get back to life with Lexi? I can’t wait for book 7 to get these answers and more.

Surprised, to say the least!

Well I must say I was not expecting for book 6 of this series NOT to be the last one. So you could say I have mixed feelings about this. Even though it was very entertaining, with plenty of action, adventure, romance and steam, I was expecting it to be the epic conclusion of this wonderful series. After the previous book gave us “the battle” where the main characters finally confronted the evil forces, it was expected that this book would wrap up the story for good. As enjoyable as this series has been, I don’t believe it needed more drama added to it for the sake of adding another book and and therefore making the readers pay for an additional book, which could finally be the last one or not!

What an amazing story. It’s an Epic adventure in keeping Lexi safe and saving Cole. There are so many twists and turns that you never see coming. Just when you think it’s all okay, something happens to turn it around. I love this story. Aside from Orin who I just love to hate. Lol. I could not put this book down. The predicaments they all find themselves in is an intoxicating rush. This journey Lexi is on to discover who she is, what powers she possesses and her connection to the dragons is spectacularly written. And to know we are getting another book is just perfect. I cannot wait to read what happens next. I am so looking forward to it.

I couldn’t wait to read more from this amazing series and as usual Brenda doesn’t disappoint.
Lexi is just about surviving. She is breathing and trying to keep busy. The hole Cole has left is slowly draining her. She needs him.
Cole is slowly becoming a little crazy. He is still in control of the shadows but for how long? He can not chance going near Lexi but will do anything to keep her safe.
Lexi needs to build bridges with the people and show she can lead. She also needs to find a way to help Cole but will it be too late?
Such an absolutely sensational read. Brenda is one author I will always one click. Can’t wait for more from these amazing characters.

I was captivated by this series, the beautiful characters, and magical world. Lexi is the star of this series. Lexi has grown in her powers and her position as queen. She has been hoping that Cole can be saved and they can be together again. She teaches us that no matter what happens, we can still be humble and genuine to ourselves.

Cole only has one thing on his mind to protect Lexi. He will do whatever it takes to ensure she is happy and safe. He is the perfect mate for Lexi. I love how much Cole is willing to sacrifice for his family, and he and Lexi are perfect for each other.

This series contains mystery, drama, suspense, and fantastic baby dragons. Each book is highly addictive and so much fun to read, and I can't wait for the next one.

well

Let’s be honest… there was no need for this book. Add an extra 100 pages to book 5 & that would be all anyone needed. I always knew who that traitor was. The excessive drama at the end wasn’t needed.
Spoilers: Beware!
The fact we didn’t get that wedding, and are going straight into Orin & S book is kinda rude.
I get there are other stories… but you could have wrapped this up before starting those.
This was close to The Road To Hell my absolute favorite of all her series. I had hopes we’d get something like that. We get some but not all.
I need a better epilogue for Cole & Lexi!!!! I need babies playing with baby dragons!
Write a damn Novella for them in HEA!

So. Many. Books.
I enjoyed Cole and Lexi's tale and I have enjoyed this series, but it did not need 6 books! And contrary to popular opinion, I didn't like this last one very well at all. Lexi takes meetings and threats from other immortals and they move on. It was very anti-climatic. And while I'm glad we have an ending to the shadows and their torment of Cole, the story line kept building to that one last major conflict and then it was quite a let down.

I didn't love Lexi in this book either. I know she had to transition to her Queenly persona, but some of the toughness she tried to put on made me roll my eyes.

Where do I start?!!

I so want to gush about many things, but then the review wouldn’t be spoiler free.

Be prepared for some ups, downs, twists, turns, and most definitely swooning. Lexi and Cole go through some things that I can’t mention, but they are doozies.

As always, Brenda keeps you on the edge of your seat and throws extra surprises your way.

Though I’m still hurt from the losses in the last book, thankfully Lexi and Cole still have that core support system I love so much.

The ending, well…you just have to read to find out. I can’t wait for the next!

I was very excited to read this, and I started this book expecting it to be the last of the series, but…..there’s more! I was anticipating a lot of action and afraid there would be a lot of loose ends (because I’m so attached to many of the characters), and I’d have to say Lexi and the gang don’t seem to have much down time between pages but there is a good mixture of action and anticipation. Many surprises as well! Brenda does it again and reeled me in causing anxious anticipation until the next release!

In the Light there will be Shadows

Lexi heat broken and having to do a job she knows nothing about. Cole overtaken by shadows and wanting to protect Lexi from all threats. How can their love overcome what her ancestors created? When the last light falls who will save them from Cole, the Shadow Reaver? Or can Lexi herself save the realms by saving Cole? Their love is powerful and true. They will do anything for one another and those they care for.

The cliffhanger at the end is what will get you! And not what you expected!

Still a good book in the series, but I expected more.

So this is the continuation of the story of Cole and Lexi. There was not a lot of steam in this book which I kinda of missed. The romance was still there but it felt like we were missing something. I also wished we got to see more of Lexi's power and the new things she was learning. I also wanted a definite ending but it seems we decided to take the side characters and give them their own books so this book really didn't end the series. Still a quick fun read but just wanted a little more.
