April 28, 2020So this book started with THE first meeting of h/H pretty much naked...and grabbing body parts.....the H Is in deep undercover, so chapters and chapters of him just standing there, watching innocent girls getting ganged raped.....then HE goES OFF and go play sex games with h ....yeah we are done.DNF

I happened to pick this one up on the freebie list and wasn't expecting a lot, and I will admit that it knocked my socks off. I wasn't expecting ANYTHING like this.
From the first pages of testing the new agent, to the revenge, to the espionage, to the actual story ...this was a thrill ride from start to finish. This, I thought was the story of a strong women in trying times, surviving, and doing it well. She lived in a hell hole of a country, yet managed to thrive, even sell information and do it for a number of years.
Enter the Hawk. Here is my ideal of a strong male character. Every page with him in it sizzled, and it was not just sexual, (although he had to be eye candy...just saying). The author captured a 'presence' with his character and the way he and his guide, or the two other operatives interacted was a page turner to be sure.
This was a very smart book. It did not dumb down anything. These were people living on the edge and having to be at the top of their game, EVERY DAY. A mistake was death. They lived where human life was cheap and dying was a fact of life.
I found this was a hard book to put down after I got started, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone who was into a fast paced thriller with a lot of action.

Loved it. I think I read a story/novella by this author and thought it was really original and well done, and this book is the same. The book often went in a different direction than I was expecting, which kept me off balance. Some of the side characters' stories were heartbreaking, so I'm definitely going to check and see if later books in the series included their stories.

I enjoyed the book, but it would have been just as good without the over-described sex scenes (just my opinion, but the book could have stood on its own).

How I got this book: eARC from Author
I first read Low’s short story in the SEAL of my dreams anthology, I was hooked! The romance was great and the story was jam packed with action. I was expecting another high-octane romantic suspense, and although it started a little slower than I anticipated, I enjoyed it.
Hawk is undercover in one of the worst assignments ever. He can’t break his cover and protect the innocent women he sees day in and day out, and that is slowly eating away at him. His primary mission is to find a certain weapon and make sure it doesn’t land into the wrong hands. About the only good thing about this assignment is Amber, his sexy CIA contact.
Amber deals in information, and while she isn’t exactly on the up-and-up, she works hard to protect those who can’t help themselves. As Hawk goes further undercover, and uses his position to try and help Amber’s side agenda, his cover is broken. Together he and Amber must travel around an unfamiliar country side, looking for a weapon and evading those after them.
Like I said, this book started a little slower than I was expecting. In the short story I read, we were dropped right into the action, and I was hoping that this story would have just as much. Although it took us awhile to get to that, once it came I felt as if the story just flew along, roped me in and kept me engaged and turning the page as quickly as possible.
I totally fell for Hawk, from the very beginning. It’s almost painful to watch him struggle with keeping his cover, especially when it’s so obvious that he doesn’t want to have to force himself to be friendly with Dilaver. Every time he was forced to watch something so horrific, listening to him justify not doing anything in his head, my heart just broke for Hawk and I wanted to wrap him up in a big hug.
I wasn’t a huge fan of Amber at first, and it took awhile for me to really warm up to her character. I’m not exactly sure why, and I think it wasn’t until she had to witness just how awful things were for the young girls she rescued that I really felt a connection to her character.
In the past year or so I’ve read a good handful of books dealing with sex trafficking and human slavery, but this book did not have as much of a happy ending as the others did, and it was much more descriptive in the horrific things that young women have to endure once forced into that life. It was awful and tragic and at times so hard to read, and yet at the same time it was enlightening and hopefully. But a warning, anyone who has a hard time stomaching these issues, you will probably want to steer clear.
I was also interested in a lot of the secondary characters. I am definitely going to have to go back and read the other books in this series, especially the one after this that deals with Amber’s partner the mysterious Lily. The story line with Lily was left wide open, and I can’t wait to find out what happens to her.
All in all I enjoyed my second Low story. The suspense part of the plot was done very well, and while not very mysterious, the book had an overall creepy feeling to it, especially since it dealt with some very heavy issues. The romance between Hawk and Amber was very hot, and I found myself cheering these two on, especially once they went on the run together. I will definitely be looking for more of Low’s work in the future.

Amber Hutchens is not your everyday cafe owner.She is also Ambrosia an informant for both the good and bad guys. Her main objective is to help rescue the girls that are being trafficked here. She is more then a pretty face but most people don't know that.
Hawk McMillian Navy Seal who is undercover and is the new best friend to Dilaver the trafficker of the girls among drugs and weapons. He saved Dilaver life as a part of the plan to get close to him to find out the location of a device wanted by the United States. He didn't know the things he would see that would scare he for life(the girls). When Hawk meets his guide Ambrosia..aka Amber he puts her to the test. Lets just say they heat up the story right off the bat.
Lily and Brad are two others to learn about. Lily is Ambers friend and she is very much a part in helping the girls escape. She is also a strong women that you don't want to mess with. Brad is a good guy Ambers Informant that gives her just enough information to sell to the bad guys to keep her cover. Brad is very attracted to Lily but will she ever give him the chance?
When they all get together to move the girls they find out one of them isn't who they say they are. The device is close and Hawk needs to find it before it is activated and there plan isn't working so well.
The energy of this book pulled me thought. I haven't read the first book in this series but followed this book fine. I will however read the first and third books to complete this story. I was taken back about the people trafficking and the things done to the girls and realized that this is still happening in the world today. God Bless the military men and women for all they do publicly and privately for us to live the great lives we do.

Second in the 'Crossfire' series, the first was The Protector which was a mix of military action, romance and helping the exploited youth in South East Asia. So needless to say I was interested in learning more about the characters, but this is about the co-leader of the American special ops team that we meet in the The Protector and three months have passed and he finds himself in Macedonia in the midst of a snow storm when he gets attacked and drugged (whilst totally buck naked which I don't understand so it must be a man thing). The revenge that Hawk gets in the end is funny and I totally never guessed what the 'code' was about food which is so in league with Hawk's two obsessions, Hamburgers and sexy women.
The secondary romance between Brad and Lily is sweet as Lily tries to avoid the attraction whilst Brad tries so hard to tempt her. It does makes sense that adults are going to have emotional baggage and when ou start to date someone new that you have to go through all that baggage. But some people maybe beyond help and for sanity sake, you should just cut and run.
There is a lot of politics and maneuverings between the characters because everyone has trust issues, but this is a peaceful war zone. I'm not sure how surprised I was about Lily, but it did makes sense that not every one can have a HEA. The next story is set up in the last chapter.
I did like seeing the old faces in the end it was nice to have a mini-reunion of the SEAL team.

The secondary romance between Brad and Lily is sweet as Lily tries to avoid the attraction whilst Brad tries so hard to tempt her. It does makes sense that adults are going to have emotional baggage and when ou start to date someone new that you have to go through all that baggage. But some people maybe beyond help and for sanity sake, you should just cut and run.
There is a lot of politics and maneuverings between the characters because everyone has trust issues, but this is a peaceful war zone. I'm not sure how surprised I was about Lily, but it did makes sense that not every one can have a HEA. The next story is set up in the last chapter.
I did like seeing the old faces in the end it was nice to have a mini-reunion of the SEAL team.

After picking up the Protector, I immediately went and bought the Hunter. It did not disappoint!
Hawk, a Navy Seal, has gone deep undercover overseas. Part of his mission is to befriend a thug who deals weapons, runs drugs and is an abusive sex trafficker. His local contact/tracker, Amber, is a local cafe owner who deals in information. From the minute they meet (their initial contact is very interesting but I can't write a spoiler), they are instantly attracted to each other. Their hot chemistry burns up the pages as does their love scenes.
Like Protector, the story line is solid and addresses how the sex trade is a global issue. It is frightening to think that human trafficking is happening everyday to young women. Even more disturbing to see how difficult it is for international organizations to try to stop it when there is always another Trafficker lined up to take over when one is removed.
This was a great book, and I'm now a new fan of Gennita Low!

Hawk McMillan is not only capable, well-trained, and well-sculpted (after all, he is a SEAL), he is also intelligent, kind, compassionate and loving. As a dealer in information, she is not only a contract operative but a street smart, cheeky, smart-ass heroine. The highlight of the book is the give and take in their relationship. There is a balance to the relationship and it is fun. Did I mention that there interactions are also very sexy and hot? Yup, definitely scorching.

It is apt for me to write a review for this book since I read it so long ago and it appears Ms. Low stopped writing books around 2014. I looked around and I believe between her busy day job, being a full-time caregiver, and covid, writing fell to low priority. I completely empathize. Maybe this little review will give a little bump for Ms. Low and bring some new readers to her books as well as let her know that readers have not forgotten about her.

September 27, 2012This is where I started with Gennita Low, the book that made me want to read everything by her. It's a very dark world of trafficing in women. Well, girls actually. Hard to handle in places.
Hero is in a very dark spot, having infiltrated the organization and having to watch the abuse go on, because it is not his mission and he can't tip his hand yet by stopping it.
Heroine is working in her own way to help the kidnapped girls, in a very dangerous spot, trusting practically no one, but she wants to trust Hawk.
Worked for me. Wish I'd started with the very first book, though. It's always better to start at the beginning. Not that I really needed it. The book stands alone. But I do like to go in order.

I love me some men in uniform. Hawke is one HOT HOT HOT Navy SEAL.
Amber and Hawke are a hot couple and their passion burns bright. They both have a mission to complete and while their paths cross, their missions aren't the same. However, their missions intersect and they end up working together to bring a little bit of justice in a lawless land.
Amber was the perfect heroine for Hawke. She's capable, stealthy and not afraid to get a little dirty. Hawke is awesome. He's an alpha male and in control, but not afraid to depend on others to get the job done.
I really enjoyed the suspense in the story and following all they went through to find the caches of weapons and free the girls caught up in human trafficking.

Hawk McMillen left his SEAL team to go under cover in the organization of an infamous drug dealer, arms dealer and human trafficker. What he's seen over the past few months has been enough to make any ordinary man lose his sanity. But the mission isn't over and he's not allowed to take down this piece of scum and his organization. He feels he's about to lose his mind when he meets Amber. The co-leader of this joint operation doesn't completely trust her, however. Can he? Will she help him accomplish this mission with his sanity intact or will she betray him like everyone else in this wretched corner of the world?

A fast-paced and witty romantic intrigue. The hero and heroine have quick brains and the dialogue and play between them is fantastic. Both are strong and capable people who respect each other. Navy SEAL (him) and information dealer (her) working together. As always, I caution you to read Gennita Low's books in order. This is the fourth book.
Action-packed and very real, The Hunter deals with difficult real world situations that make the book darker and edgier than most romances. It definitely lives up to its romantic intrigue label.

This book had everything I love in a RS genre book. The dominant, kick-ass alpha male type. A spunky, sassy, kick-ass heroine who can hold her own in a fight. Although Amber doesn't need Hawk to swoop in and come to her rescue she's smart enough to let him in and they find love in the process. I love that she's not the damsel in distress type character and is strong physically, mentally and emotionally all on her own and although Hawk is a dominating alpha he doesn't try to change who Amber is at her core. He loves her because of all of that. Love Gennita Low's stories!

The second half of this romantic suspense had lots of exciting action but after a strong beginning the pace kind of slowed with the characters ruminating a lot. Secret agent Hawk needs the help of CIA contractor Amber in his undercover mission to intercept arms deal by local crime boss.

It is an interesting twist how Hawk and Ambrosia deal with the human trafficking and CIA undercover operations between their own personal romance. It is also interesting how Hawk must pretend to be Dilaver's new best friend and live through all the torment he swore his life to protect against. Plus, super steamy love scenes- honestly the best I have ever read, if you are into that.

This would probably appeal more to romance readers than A/A readers. More or less a romance wrapped around an action/black op plotline but there was more action in the bedrooms than out in the field. Characters were actually quite well developed and the writing was decent but once I skipped over all the descriptions of the love making, there wasn't a lot to the actual story.

The story's a five stars one for 21 chapters. Then the 4 last chapters got me spinning around. The end is a little weird.
Anyhow Hawk MacMillan is real hero material and Amber's a dream for him.
I like this series a lot : action, suspense and good romance plot.
While reading the 3rd story I changed my mind and decided to rate he book 5 stars!

Overall this was an excellent read. I will definitely be looking for more of this author's books. The suspense level was good with this one and I didn't see the end coming. I enjoyed the banner between Hawk and Amber (among other things). The only issue I had was I felt like the ending was a little abrupt.

The second book in Gennita Low's Crossfire series. I saw this listed as a recommendation somewhere and decided to check it out. It was just okay for me. Nothing special. The style of writing didn't work for me.

I enjoyed the story of the main characters, but they were secondary to the very very painful in the human trafficking elements. I will be most interested in reading the follow up story of Lily, the heroine's "sleeper agent" double crossing friend.

Good story with international intrigue. I love reading about Navy SEALS and this author captured the essence of the the dangerous missions that SEALS are sent on while serving our country for the benefits we enjoy...with a little romance on the side!!

Anothet great installment that keeps you guessing and on your toes throughout. The plot thickens and the double crossing is surprising. O really liked the way the last book lead into this but then this book went back a bit to fill in missing time for the main characters.
