Abby Kane FBI Thrillers 1-6

Rate this book
Meet the agent with an impossible directive: solve the FBI's most baffling cases. Abby Kane spent her early career putting sickos, psychopaths, and ruthless killers behind bars. After her husband's mysterious death, she moved her family to San Francisco, hoping for a fresh start and healing. What she got instead was a job with the FBI.

Book 1: Corktown
A mutilated body has Corktown residents nervous and for a good reason. Detroit Metro Police recognize the handiwork of the serial killer known as the Doctor. But there’s a problem with that. They locked him up seven years ago. When FBI Agent Abby Kane visits the Doctor behind bars, he swears he’s innocent and not the psychopath everyone thinks he is. Oddly enough, Abby believes him.

Book 2: Tenderloin
With white-collar crimes dominating her work schedule, chasing deranged killers is a thing of the past until the body of a dead DEA agent pops up in Bogotá. Through her investigation, FBI Agent Abby Kane learns that a new drug has been invented, and its danger isn’t the addictive high but the terrifying side effects. She believes the cartels are behind the drug, but the locals think it’s one man. They call him the Monster.

Book 3: Russian Hill (CC Trilogy #1)
In the first book of the Chasing Chinatown Trilogy, a killer is loose in San Francisco, collecting body parts. FBI Agent Abby Kane believes a dead hiker found ten miles north of the city is the key to solving those crimes. But the more she digs, the more she begins to think the killer is playing an elaborate game, and there’s an audience cheering him on.

Book 4: Lumpini Park (CC Trilogy #2)
In the second book of the Chasing Chinatown Trilogy, FBI agent Abby Kane hunts the man behind the sadistic challenges the only way she knows how: by playing the game and moving up the bloody leaderboard herself.

Book 5: Coit Tower (CC Trilogy #3)
The hunt continues in the third installment of the Chasing Chinatown Trilogy. FBI Agent Abby Kane is the sole Attraction in a bloody game designed for one reason: to take lives. Deliver her head and collect the $10 million bounty.

Book 6: Kowloon Bay
Her husband was brutally killed three years ago. Now he’s the prime suspect in a murder investigation. After the murder of her husband in Hong Kong, FBI Agent Abby Kane moved her family to San Francisco as a way to start over. During a return visit to Hong Kong, Abby discovers an unthinkable secret that has her questioning the entire family she married into and believing her late husband might have been a deadly killer.

Abby Kane FBI Thrillers 1-6

I thought no way would these books be complete. They were free and you know how some authors give you snippets of the story, and you must buy them? Not this set. All complete.

Each story is good enough for a standalone, or could be continuous. There’s a few paragraphs to background the people or situations, not over the top.

Abby is Chinese and Irish. Grew up in Hong Kong and became a policewoman. Became a top dog in her position, tuff woman. She gets married and six months later is a widow with two children. She moves to California and is now a FBI agent doing mainly white crime. Because she worked in a top position and dealt with murder crimes and the triads the FBI often uses her knowledge. This series is pretty good. I enjoyed reading each book in the series.

I stopped reading in book 3. The idea of Abby as anFBI agent is good, but he makes her out to be a easy lay and always picks the bad boy in the story. Sex scenes were stupid at best. I just quit reading and went back to reading David Baldacci.

I picked this up when I saw it was deeply discounted. I'd read a couple things the author wrote a few years later and they weren't bad, but now I see why it was on sale. If I'd read this first I'd never have read anything more from this guy. Clearly it took him a few years to get the formula right.

So, here's the positive: plotlines that move and a chance to finally learn the backstory of an interesting family that makes appearances in later books by the author. There are a couple big negatives, though.

There are dumb errors (like mixing up the names of a few secondary characters! seriously, look for the Juan) and lots of typos. But they're minor annoyances. The bigger issues are the author's awkwardness with the POV for a female protagonist and the general gruesomeness of this series.

Weirdly, the gore gets toned down quite a lot by the time he starts writing about an assassin a few years later. Go figure. Likewise, his female characters are much less cringeworthy in the later books.

In a way it seems like the Abby Kane titles were just a rehearsal for the Sei and Mui series. Those books are better. Proofreading is better, there's less need for gratuitous sex and violence, and the actions and interior monologues of the female characters aren't quite so absurd.

I have tried two books in this series

And I still don't get them. I looked at my review of Corktown and can make the sane comments here that I did for that one: I know nothing about Abby Kane and despair of ever learning about her. In this book, she is assigned to a case in Columbia and, despite the fact that she is a guardian to the two small children of her late husband, there is no concern about leaving them and no arrangements made. She is going into the Amazon rainforest in shorts and a t-shirt. She is letting herself be seduced by a man she met only two days ago. It is clear these books are written by a man.

#1 Corktown:

I started Corktown on October 28th and finished today October 31st. I actually went into this series knowing very little about the author, and his writing style. After reading some other reviews I'm left a little confused because I found his writing clear, details were crisp, the action was present in almost every chapter. My only issue is Abby Kane is portrayed as a badass with skills anyone would envy however in the few instances, she was presented with opportunities to use those skills and bump up the action, she did not. She ends up coming across to me at least, as anything but a badass. I'm not a huge fan of sexy moments or romance scenes, and frankly could do without them but that being said I do appreciate that these scenes were not used as fillers but in fact did paint a larger picture into the minds of the characters. I also appreciate they weren't long scenes. I hate having to skim pages after page to get past all the 'unnecessary' parts and risk missing something important that was sprinkled amongst the sweaty bodies :).
Overall the first part of this 6 part series was enjoyable to read and I am looking forward to the next one.

#2 Tenderloin:
Started on Oct 31st finished Nov 3rd
Although this book is much shorter than the first one I finished it in the same amount of time as the first however I should have been able to finish it in less time. I had a hard time finding the WANT to continue reading this book. Dusting was a much more enjoyable activity to pass my time than finishing this book. I finished with the only thought of getting it over with. Abby's character is becoming a bit of a bore. She still acts like a super badass but again fails to deliver. The annoying romantic portion of this book didn't explain much of who Abby is or the why other than she's conceded and a little to easy to abandon priorities and jump into bed with pretty much all of her partners. The story in this book wasn't as gripping or interesting in my opinion. Just as it started to get a little exciting it ends on what you'd call a cliff hanger. In my opinion a cliff hanger is the ending you are dying to find out. Meh! Honestly, I could live without knowing the rest of the story and I really don't feel any need to seek out the sequel "Kowloon Bay". After this book I think I am due for a break from this series for a while...

LOTS OF ACTION...

These books (1-6) were quite eventful. I never knew what was coming... it went from one adventure to another in the blink of an eye... and often! Agent Abby Kane was an interesting character. She had become a single parent suddenly when her husband was murdered... and after only six months of marriage. The children were her husband's and his first wife's... she had died when the children were young.

Abby decided to move from Hong Kong to SanFrancisco and to become an FBI agent and raise the two children there. She also had her mother-in-law, PoPo, living with them because she needed help with the children, and PoPo was their grandmother.

The trials and tribulations of a young family in a new country was enough to keep Abby on her toes. The fact that she was an FBI agent and her "work hours" were anything but regular only added to the commotion. Abby was determined to be a good mother, and to somehow balance her work and home lives. You'll see! Never a dull moment.

In all six books, there is a LOT of action... and guns, and killing.
This is common in many FBI stories... but not all.

I hope you enjoy Abby, her family and her friends as much as I did... Abby is such a good person!

If you're in the mood for fast-paced, gripping thrillers that keep you on the edge of your seat, Ty Hutchinson's Abby Kane FBI Thrillers 1-6 delivers big time. Abby Kane is a fierce, intelligent, and deeply relatable protagonist who balances her sharp detective skills with her life as a widowed mother. Each installment builds on her character and plunges her into increasingly complex and dangerous cases that left me flipping pages late into the night.

The stories are packed with action, twists, and enough forensic intrigue to satisfy fans of crime thrillers. Hutchinson’s writing style is crisp and vivid, drawing you into the gritty underworlds Abby navigates. The settings, from San Francisco to international locales, are richly described and add depth to the stories.

The only reason I’m holding back half a star is that some plotlines can feel a little rushed or leave threads untied, but the overall experience is so captivating that it hardly detracts from the enjoyment.

If you're a fan of James Patterson or Lisa Gardner, you'll find a new favorite in Ty Hutchinson. This collection is binge-worthy, and Abby Kane is a character you’ll root for again and again. Highly recommended!

This is a great series! There isn't a dull moment in any of the 6 books.

Each book bas it's own storyline but they do slightly tie into each other. There is two books that are basically a continuation of the of other but it is done in a great way.

You won't be able to put these books down once you pick them up and start reading. You are following FBI agent Abby Kane through some of her daily life as well as the cases that she works on. She was hoping for a slower pace working for the FBI but she seems to always get pulled into some very strange cases.

I would recommend this series to anyone who likes a good female lead thriller series.

Quick reads with exciting, fun storylines, cool plots, scary villains, the Abby Kane mysteries are perfect vacation reads. Ex-FBI, Abby was looking for a quieter life after the death of her husband. But there’s no quiet life in these novels that take the reader from Detroit to Bogota, San Francisco’s Chinatown, Hong Kong and beyond. The stories tie together and are best read in order, which is easy with a boxed set. My favorites are the Chasing Chinatown Trilogy, combining scary mystery with hitech computer gaming and more. But they’re all fun, and I’m sure the next boxed set will be enjoyable too.
Disclosure: I got these on a deal. I’ll watch out for a deal on the rest.

Overall, lively with fresh cultural insights into the lives of two Chinese-American detectives and FBI investigations. The international scope is handled deftly, but certainly could have been expanded easily. There is a good mix of the personal and professional details and I really enjoyed the way “family” anchored the action and outlined the risks of pursuing dangerous criminals. I was a bit put off by elements of torture in the first book, which were less detailed in later books. Recommend for lovers of fast-paced action.

It wasn't too bad a book at first. The murderer had a bit of a different method of his murders. Abbey went to help find this crazy murderer. But the more I got into the book it seemed to slow down and sort of dragged on and on just with lots about the investigation. Tho she went on with it and found out that possibly there was a corrupt police department involved with the murders some how. She didnt know if she wanted to get involved in that part of it.She just wanted to get back home to her children.

Exhilarating action

What a riveting and thoroughly entertaining series of stories. Former Hong Kong criminal detective, now FBI agent, Abby Kane, becomes heavily involved in a mysterious murder investigation. Ironically the involvement coincides with a family holiday visit to her replacement and good friend, at the Hong Kong Police Department, and brings her back into a investigation which involves the case of her former murdered husband, Peng .comes

So good, I read books 1 to 6 without taking a break. Well written, well paced, descriptions at just the right balance to give you a sense of place, atmosphere and appearance without overwhelming the plot. I found the first book in the series a little gory or graphic but thankfully didn't let that put me off. Really great writing.

A fast-paced series with lots of action, great plots, diabolical villains, and imperfect law enforcement agents that I felt made them easier to relate to. There are lots of plot twists, especially in 5 & 6, and though the books don't end as "cliff hangers" exactly, they do end with some things left hanging, so it was nice to have the set.

A collection of 6 stories featuring a female FBI agent who leaves her children on a moment's notice to fly around the world searching for killers. Lightweight mysteries but a readable set of stories, some sequencing involved with the search for one particular killer stretching over multiple stories.

I didn’t finish this book (read <38%). This is the worst book I’ve ever read! It wasn’t about any FBI agents I’ve ever read about. The majority of the “stories” were about why doesn’t he like me, food, and childish comments about others. There are no redeeming qualities of the main character. This author is now the only one on my “never read again” list.

3.5 stars! Really enjoyed this series, although six novels at once (this collection) without a break may be a bit much for me. Interesting characters, great plots and lots of intriguing surprises make it lots of fun! Look forward to following the rest of the series but think I'll take them one at a time with breaks in between each. Too much "what will happen next" stress otherwise! 😉

I love a book I can't figure out. These were that. Fats paced, engrossing, and above involved, I found myself very entertained. I loved Abby Kane. Badass FBI Agent Kane. I would recommend these to anyone looking for an exciting and sometimes educational read. I've already recommended them to family.
