Samantha Moon finds herself in a world of trouble... literally.
Being trapped in an alternate dimension is not usually a problem for her. Unfortunately, the reality around her came from the mind of Quentin Arnbury, an author with a penchant for being wicked to his characters.
Here, people don’t simply die... they die horribly. Worse, with Quentin incapacitated, his world is no longer following any script.
Surrounded by nobility that embodies avarice and violence, it’s only a matter of days before the darkness attached to Quentin’s mind consumes his psyche as well as the world he created. Even if Sam can manage to survive in such a dangerous place, reality is unraveling around her.
With time running out to free Quentin’s soul, Sam takes a dangerous trusting a dark master.

J.R. Rain is the author of 110 novels and counting. He lives on an island in the Pacific Northwest, where he's hard at work on his next novel... and fighting off sparkly vampires.
Samantha Moon 🌙, Tammy, Anthony, Allison, and Kingsley are on another world 🌎 attempting to find and bring a person back to earth 🌎. As a fan of Samantha Moon 🌙 and J. R. Rain ☔I would highly recommend this series and various authors to readers who supernatural mystery novels 👍🔰. 2023 👒😀😡🏡
I got this book as an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
It was slow going through all the suspects, but loved getting an insight to Anthony and Tammy. Once Nesanth had been discovered the end came quick in full Sam style but it was nice that it’s a family affair now.
Looking forward to the next and seeing how Sam expands.
This story was awesome. So much adventure and so thought provoking. I loved every minute of it and I'm glad everything came together and everyone was safe. This was my type of story.
From the previous book. Moon, her two kids, Kingsley and Allison have jumped into a writer’s fantasy world to try and rescue his soul that trapped there by a Dark Master. The Master wants to use Quentin Arnsbury’s world as his private kingdom, but the residents aren’t happy about it. Plus, a couple of regular world people, for an unknow reason, have been yanked into the fantasy world and have to rescued also.
This book starts with Moon and her gang trying to find a way to release Quentin form his crystal prison, while preventing a kingdom of werewolves from declaring war on the humans. And to get back to their own world without destroying the fantasy one.
I skipped a lot of the debates over who Nesanth was. A lot of it was basically going over the same unknown facts and ideas over and over again. After a few discussions, we got the idea and were ready to move on. And even though I love Moon and her gang, lately the stories have gotten a bit corny.
Footnote: 1) I agree with Allison about books. I’m also not the type to re-read a series. There are a lot of other books I want to read.
Fave scenes: Snoop Dogg, Anthony discovering the history of doorbells, Anvar’s studio and the lava floor.
I have generally liked the books in this series. I have especially liked that they have been nice, not too complicated or over the top, mysteries for Samantha to solve.
Unfortunately, this book breaks that pattern. First it is a direct continuation of the previous book which, as you might guess, ended in a bit of a cliffhanger.
However, what really put me off was that this book is far from down to earth. This book builds a weird fantasy world, created from the mind of some author of fantasy books who happens to be a creator, where normal rules, even for traditional magic, do not apply.
It is an over the top hybrid between soap opera and some R.R. Martin wannabe story.
The constant harping about which house is conspiring against which house and other soap opera trivia from the people in her party that seemed to be fans of the author was annoying to say the least.
At least the author finished this story unlike that lazy R.R. Martin. Actually I do not care if the lazy slob actually finishes that crap. It is just: create some characters that you root for, kill them off in some stupid twist, rince and repeat.
Anyway, I hope that the author goes back to his previous kind story telling in the next book.
I have been reading this series since it's beginning and they are still very enjoyable and funny. This one is part 2 of 2 and I was glad to read the end of this adventure. I enjoyed the GoT-ish book world (book within a book?). I enjoyed meeting the new characters and having our regulars more developed and learning more about them. If you've just happened to bump into tis novel, I no longer consider these stand-alones so start with book 1 and not here but I highly recommend this series. I'm looking forward to the next one!
This is book # 29 in the series. If you like the Vampire for hire series, you should like this one also. I find that after 28 books, the author is trying to find stuff for Samantha to get involved in. In this one she has everyone helping in this case.
So awesome to think this way and put it in a full story...I really enjoyed it...I was hoping it wouldn't be the little queen, so much better it was Malignant ( if I got her name wrong sorry) , just wanted to say you are an awesome story teller..thank you
I loved that weird world. It took me a minute to get into it but when I did it was fun. I laughed a lot. The details of the clothing and the sets were outstanding.
Rubbish! What were you thinking of. Totally boring. Get back on track. The books lately are nothing like the earlier Samantha Moon books. Hope they get better.
