First things first. I am holding one of the cutest paperbacks in my hand and reading this. Now, for the review. The story is about a cute teenage couple - Ruchi and Anuj. They were very close. However, the actual story begins on the day of New Year's Eve, when Anuj took a step forward, asking Ruchi for a kiss. If Ruchi had accepted it and kissed Anuj, then things would have become normal, and the story would have a happy ending. However, Ruchi's reaction was savage. Anuj was shocked initially but was desperate to know the reason and hence went behind her. But instead of Ruchi, he met Aarya Kapoor. She was a well-known personality.
So, what's the relation of Aarya and Ruchi? Why did Aarya emerge in the picture suddenly? What was the twist that the story takes at that point in time? Well, this isn't some ordinary love story. Aarya's story was astonishing, yet a lot to learn. Every incident in our lives will have an effect on us as well as those who have witnessed it. The writing is in simple language, and you will be able to flip the pages easily. The book emphasizes on two sided love in a relationship, how important consent is, and how it can become a success. Never ask for a kiss is a fictional story where a relationship between Anuj and Ruchi gets ruined because Anuj forcefully tried to kiss Ruchi in the party at a friend's place on New Year's Eve.
Ruchi belonged to the Army's background and she was also very close to her aunt (bua) who was also the captain of the Indian women's cricket team.
Now there was a disclosure at the end of Aarya of her life story especially the love story. Where the motive is to let Anuj know about love and relationships.
It didn't take too long to complete this story because of the fewer number of pages which also provides multiple information. The language i would say isn't very beginner friendly. But you can read it if it's not difficult for the reader to search a few words in between the reading. That disruption is inevitable when we read a book. I have read so many fictional love stories but the content was really different this time. The story, characters and the role they played were very different from what I usually read. So, If you love reading fictional love stories. Go for it.

Each scene is easily visualisable with VALUE OF CONSENT being a pivot!
It opens about domestic molestation,trauma, complexity of relations & emotions, remorse and ego we carry within that can help us reach glorious heights.
The plot was woven in plain elegance with the twist-ful end was stupefying still offering a warm feeling of calm.
Each character plays a vital role due to the fact that all feel relatable with their own past interconnected.I didn't want their story to end.(*honestly*)

"Never ask for a kiss" then does it mean just do it!!
This was my perception of this book before I began it.
But this book was good beyond my expectation.
The story begins with Anuj, where his friends motivate him to kiss his Gf Ruchi on new year's eve.
When Ruchi denies kissing him, he kissed her without her permission to advance their relationship.
Ruchi got furious with his actions & ended her relationship with him.
Anuj who truly loved her was still trying to pursue her, without figuring out what was wrong in his action.
Was this the end of their relationship or else Anuj was going to realize his mistake, that what he did wrong?
If yes!! Then Who will help anuj get Ruchi's heart back?
Read this book to know the rest story!!
It's not 18+ & neither's a lame story to disappoint you.
A good book to begin a year with.

This story is about Anuj and Ruchi , two teenagers infatuated in their first love phase . On a new year's party Anuj approached Ruchi for a new year's kiss like the movies, of which she refused and when he insisted she was firm enough to draw a line and show her anger.
For a young teenager with all heart and lightheaded hormones Anuj was unaware as to what went wrong.
Anuj by chance meets Aarya Kapoor, renowned cricketer and coach of the Indian Women's Cricket Team.
Meeting her turned Anuj's life 360 and paved a way into self introspection and mindful growth. He shared his current concern with her and as Aarya shared her life experiences with him, he realized the true meaning of being a man and what mistakes he made. Her words made him learn about girls from a mature sensible mindful women.
Aarya open heartedly understood , corrected and disciplined him from an influenced boy to a thoughtful gentleman by becoming his friend .
All these three characters have there own self remorse that they carry as regrets and in the process of trying to make eachother understand they find peace in the self growth.
This book is a masterpiece in teaching the young adult people the dynamics and understanding of relationships, and the importance of consent and communication. Also what truely love is.
This book not only is entertaining in its own innocent first love experience way but also caters to questioning oneself on their mistakes and one's behaviour and its impact on the mental health on themselves and the people they might be affecting.
A book where mental trauma is dealt with maturity and the societal pressures are questioned and challenges by patriarchy brake with a silver lining of teenage love and Mature learned Aarya, This book is a complete blockbuster.

First of all kudos to @abhishekbhaskarvichare for such a beautiful book. Not being an avid romance reader, I rarely chose this genre to read. I'm glad it's surprising and that I was drawn to this book. And thanks @kharidobechobooks for reaching out. I would really miss this book if you didn't introduce it.

The author's writing style is engaging and allows readers to empathize with each character's struggles and triumphs.
Just like every teen, Anuj wanted to kiss his girlfriend Ruchi at the new year's party. If you believe that asking for permission "ruins the moment," then you lack imagination.
Asking does not ruin the mood. Kissing someone who doesn’t want to be kissed—now that is a mood-killer.
This specific book, "Never Ask For a Kiss," tackles the question of consent in a relationship and adamantly makes the case for its significance. Absence of consent can have a psychological impact on a person and upend the foundation of a relationship, even to the point of causing that person to disappear entirely.
Anuj and Ruchi are deeply in love with one another, but they had a fight on the eve of the new year over a "consentless" kiss. Ruchi gets upset with Anuj and wishes not to see him anymore. In any case, Anuj pursues her since he is deeply in love with her. He receives assistance and consolation from Aarya, a strong, self-assured woman who has gone through similar situations in the past. Aarya helps Anuj win back his love and leads him through the highs and lows of his own journey.
It is preferable to kiss once the other person makes it apparent that the kiss is welcome. It's best to ask before making any unwanted physical contact because it can be quite offensive. The novel does a fantastic job of addressing two distinct time periods—the present and the middle of the 1990s. My highest hopes for the story were really exceeded. It deals on contemporary themes such as child abuse, the pain brought on by sexual harassment, and how women should oppose forces that are no longer in their best interests.
Despite only having a few passages when the reader could feel overloaded, this novel is fundamentally unique from other novels.

‘Consent’ : This word has undeniably gained a lot of weight in the past years; popularising a sentence we all must’ve heard/used - ‘No means No’!
This particular book - ‘Never Ask For a Kiss’ explores the subject of consent in a relationship and strongly puts forward the importance of it and how the absence of consent can affect someone mentally as well as shake the roots of the relationship, to the extent of losing that person altogether.
The story begins with Anuj being slapped by his girlfriend Ruchi, on the New Year’s Eve! Why?
Because he tried to kiss her without her consent.
‘But it’s just a kiss’ was what Anuj thought and couldn’t understand the violent reaction that came from Ruchi which is when Aarya Khanna (Ruchi’s aunt and a former captain of the Indian women cricket team) comes into the picture, who, when she was of a similar age, had been through the exact same situation.
It is from here that the actual story begins wherein Anuj and Aarya have a deep and profound talk.
Aarya shares her past story that involves herself and Bittu (her love interest) with Anuj in greath depth, the purpose of which is to explain him the importance of consent and the value of a relationship.
The story is quite realistic in today’s time and the author has truly written it pretty well with the character sketches of all the characters being bought out crisply.
It is also quite gripping and fast-paced and you actually do want to know what happens next.
The cherry 🍒 on the cake 🎂 was the twist on the very last page of the book. Honestly, I didn’t see it coming at all! 😱
Overall, I believe it’s a book you should surely consider reading for it deals with an important topic that the young generation of today should be acquainted with!

Ruchi and Anuj were madly in love with each other. But every couple would have their problems, wouldn't they? Anuj is more daring in their relationship while Ruchi takes time to be comfortable with the changes. What would happen when the daring one takes one wrong step forward? Will their relationship be affected by it? Even if something's wrong, will their relationship be able to survive? What if someone with an incomplete love story enters the scene? Will they try to save your relationship or will they destroy it?

Honestly, I thought the book would be a sports romance. Blame the cover! No... Can't blame the cover! Maybe sports romance is a part of the book 😉. (No spoilers🤫)

Like a "handbook of relationships", this book comes up with advice to maintain a healthy relationship. Guess what! I Love It! Rather than reading and forgetting, shouldn't we analyse if our relationship is turning toxic? This book clearly draws a line between healthy and unhealthy relationships. It has also done a great job of calling out the discrimination faced based on gender. It also shows how "ego" can spoil a very beautiful relationship.
There are two love stories in the book and try to compare them when you read. It's different but somewhat similar at the same time.
And the ending👏👏👏... Wow!!! I didn't expect that!

The characters are written well & likeable while reading. Aarya Kapoor character especially is a very good character. The writer has narrated the story in an interesting manner. It is a very for anyone whether a beginner or seasoned reader
The story revolves around Anuj and Ruchi who are best friends turned into couples. It’s a pretty teenage story which took a turn when Anuj tried to Kiss Ruchi without her consent on the New Year’s Eve. In the very beginning of the story we meet Anuj, who's anxious, angry, sad, confuse , as he's struggling to understand what he did is really that bad. He only ask a single kiss from his girlfriend, long time best friend, Ruchi but she rejected him and when he tries to force, she slapped him in front of everyone. So now he's now sneaking outside Ruchi's house to talk to her. But he meets Aarya, Ruchi's bua and through her and her story he comes to know about a lot.The story is having a very good message to deliver to the teenagers that the consent of your partner is very important in a relationship. They had a very good bond before that evening however after that Ruchi was emotionally hurt and their relationship was in danger. The book is best suited if you want to dive in on the workings of the relationship. One of the most striking features of the novel is the author's ability to create richly layered characters that are both relatable and complex. 🏏The title of the book grabbed my attention. The recent generation are free from all narrow-minded thinking and openly show their love, in terms of kissing or holding hands.
🏏This book revolves around Anuj and Ruchi, a cute couple in their teenagers, enjoying their relationship and the perks of being all lovey-dovey.
🏏They were enjoying a new year's party with their friends, when his friends started making fun of him, saying he is "just a friend zone boyfriend", this riles up him more to prove it wrong and he forcefully tried to convince her and Ruchi slapped him tight.
🏏Anuj was shocked, such a tight slap for one kiss ? What's a big deal in one kiss is all normal in a couple.
🏏His anger and confusion subsided when he meets Ruchi's aunt Aarya- who is a role model for many. A successful cricketer and with a dynamic personality, she shared something that changed Anuj's perspective and thoughts on relationships and love.
🏏What exactly Aarya told him ? Why did Ruchi slap him just for a kiss ? What was the mystery behind this ?

There are few books that leave a positive impact on reader's mind. My recent read 'Never Ask For a Kiss' by author Abhishek Bhaskar Vichare is a really thought provoking and captivating book.

The story starts with a New Year's Eve party when a teenaged couple Ruchi and Anuj had a fight. Anuj desperately wanted a kiss and Ruchi refused. Anuj was not stopping himself and Ruchi stopped by slapping him. With guilt and partial anger, he went her house and there he met Aarya— a dashing personality and a role model to many. She not only told Anuj that he is wrong but also explained why he was wrong. This 'why' part is most important to understand, according to me.
While making Anuj understand his mistake, she recalled her own memories—something similar happened to her. Readers are introduced with another interesting character Bittu.
The book talks about many serious issues like the importance of consent, women's position in a patriarchal society, a girl's struggle to shine in a male dominated field and many more.
The writing style of the author is so lively that it felt like watching a movie while reading this book.
If I have to talk about the language of the book, I must say that the language is really lucid and easily understandable.
All the characters of this book are well developed and the story is written by maintaining the fast pace.

Love is the same at any time, but compared to the previous generation our generation has more freedom, comfort and an easy communication system for it. It's like a sin to have a boyfriend in those times but nowadays it's a quite common thing. This generation gap was beautifully penned by the author in this book as we can see the love story of two different generations.
That's my favourite part of this book. Language and narration was so easy and fluid that I completed this book in 2hrs nearly. Author had created an amazing story to teach about love, relationships and the misunderstandings that lead to breakups in the adolescent age.
Although I'm enjoying reading this book, I feel like I already guessed the whole story before itself so I felt a little disappointed with that. But the ending was really unexpected, it made me laugh and was a little bit surprising.
At last I wanna say that I enjoyed reading this book and recommend to all the romance lovers, but beware don't expect a kiss here😄. Happy Reading 😊❤️…

Never Ask for a Kiss by Abhishek Vichare is a story of Anuj and Ruchi. They care deeply about each other. Anuj kisses Ruchi at the New Year's Eve party they are both attending in an effort to advance their romance. Ruchi disapproves of it, becomes indignant with him, and expresses her desire to stop seeing him. Anuj continues to pursue her since he truly loves her. Aarya Khanna, Ruchi's aunt, then enters the scene and assists Anuj in coping by narrating a former incident in which she was involved and highlighting the significance and worth of a relationship. Anuj gains a considerable amount of information and improves his understanding of a girl's sentiments and perspective. The reader is in for a twist in the conclusion.
The plot has a strong development and the language is appropriate for readers of all ages. Along with other well-developed characters like Deepika, Bittu, Ragini, and Aarya's aunt, Aarya's character is inspirational in every way. This is such a beautiful and short story to read. As the title of the book says, never ask for a kiss, there is meaning behind this and same goes with story inside the book.
This story is about Ruchi and Anuj, they have the good relationship of friend's, while attending a new years eve party, where they play the game and the game leads to kiss, Ruchi, is not interested in doing it, she didn't see that coming, Anuj, who loves her so much, his friends forces him to kiss her, she denied him, but without her permission he kissed her, that cause their relationship to end, she didn't like it at all. She has the huge problems of being in relationship because of her past relations and what are the odds she faced and all. That leads to her, what she is now. But Anuj, determined to follow her and make her believe in their relationship.
These two are evey different from each other, they both have these unique way of see things differently, one comes from past relationship that leads doesn't believe in love and all. One totally opposite and completely understandable, he just wanted to there for her and love her at all cost.
