The Forgiveness Effect: What if the question isn't how but when?

Rate this book
Pickaroon poles. Peavey hooks. Cork boots. What do these tools have in common? This book takes a fascinating look at the life of the river drivers and parallels every aspect of the log drive era with the process of forgiveness. The river drivers possessed certain tools, qualities, and techniques that if applied to our own lives in the area of forgiveness, would transform us from the inside out.

This book is about movement. This book is about navigating the shallows, the sandbars, and the rough waters to get the "logs of unforgiveness" to the place of completion. Starting with the wrong question you've been asking yourself and everyone How do I forgive? What if the question isn't how but when?

Francine Westgate uses the compelling analogy of the river driver's life to paint a picture of forgiveness. She uses her own stories of childhood trauma and suffering to show you how your logs can be transformed from darkness to light.

So, do you want to be a river driver?

If "forgiveness is for you not them" had a book that taught us this adage, this book would be it. She manages to teach about logging, forgiveness, love, and acceptance seamlessly while captivating and challenging the reader. Whether you feel like you need to forgive or not, if this has caught your eye, it is worth taking the time to sit and stay a while. There is something here for everyone. I believe "The Forgiveness Effect" will transform your life and am excited for what else is to come from the author.

This is the most amazing book. The author takes us on a journey to arrive at forgiveness in only the way this author can describe and explain from her varied experiences of her own journey. Sometimes I become stuck in certain parts of the forgiveness cycle and I am starting to read chapter 9 again to help me through my journey. This book came to me at a most needed time. I think everyone needs to read this book it holds a value treasure for everyone.

I am still currently reading this , it’s so good ! With each page I read I am digesting something new and it has me in awe. Lady Westgate makes this story come to life with her words, I love how that I can see it happening as if I had personal front seats to all that has taken place. Like a movie but on pages thorough and precise , what makes this so unique is that this is her personal testimony. The story, boldness, knowledge, openness, and wisdom has God’s fingerprints all over it. This book has been birthed in this time for such a time as this. Read and see how God turned this woman’s mourning into dancing and sorrow in joy.

This book is so well written! Author Francine Westgate shares very traumatic experiences from her childhood, and takes you on a journey from anger and bitterness to victory through forgiveness! This book was eye opening for me, and helps me on my own journey of self discovery! The author draws a correlation of river driver log jams to the pent up negative emotions that keep us stuck. Author Francine Westgate beautifully illustrates significance and meanings from the Old and New Testament Bible Scriptures, and ties it all together! I highly recommend this book.

This book is an excellent take on a problem often occurring. Forgiveness, Francine uses excellent descriptions of a river driver and correlates it to how we forgive. Francine also brings about excellent ways the scripture addresses Forgiveness and a deeper understanding of how we can forgive. Once you start reading you will not want to put down this book.

This book is very liberating! I always knew I had to forgive myself & others. The author was very open and honest with occurrences in her life which made this read very personal. The question about forgiving is often how but in her book I not only could understand how but when, where and why.
