1. Working Mom Davis Way Cole’s secrets for fostering positive relationships with school administrators at her twin daughters’ preschool. 2. Casino Spy Davis Way Cole’s reasonable explanation for why she’s never been asked to chair an event for the Welcome to the Casino Neighborhood Club in Biloxi, Mississippi. 3. Wife Davis Way Cole’s tips and tricks for delivering devastating news to her husband. 4. Daughter Davis Way Cole’s best practices when it comes to interpreting absolute gibberish communication from her aging mother. 5. Celebrity-Double Davis Way Cole’s advice when it comes to talking her celebrity boss into putting on some clothes already for Pete’s sake. 6. Team Leader Davis Way Cole’s managerial methods of persuading colleagues to dive right into a situation she’s been told to leave alone. 7. Employee Davis Way Cole’s step-by-step guide for hogtying her bald boss when he’s out of control. 8. Tech-Savvy Davis Way Cole’s cyber shortcuts when cloning a halter-wearing psychobabbler’s phone, then using it to set up a makeshift computer on the television in her living room. 9. Dog Mom Davis Way Cole’s recommendations for training smart and loyal (though occasionally gassy) canines. 10. Superwoman Davis Way Cole’s suggestions for surviving the single longest day of her life, which, she can tell you right now, would’ve been way shorter without the rabbit.
I love Davis, Fantasy, Bradley, Baylor, No Neck, and the rest of the crazy characters. The story kept me guessing and laughing the whole way. I can't wait until the next book to come out. I hope I don't have to wait too long.
I loved it! This is a smart and funny series. It's genius how the author casually mentions something minor then it turns into something major. I enjoyed it so much!
I like books that make me laugh and this series did that at the beginning. This book isn’t all that funny and the plot is so convoluted in a bad way that it’s just confusing. In order for books like this series to work, we have to be able to suspend disbelief for a few hours but there has to be just enough reality to make everything seem plausible. There is nothing plausible or possible in this plot. It’s not ridiculous in a humorous way. It’s just ridiculous. Too bad because I really enjoyed some of the earlier books.
I was so looking forward to this new Gretchen Arthur book but it was a big let down. The story line was ridiculous and just over the top with so many things going on that it was hard to follow. I think this will be the last book I read from this author. This was a waste of $7.99 I had to pay
Double Dose, the eleventh book in the Davis Way Crime Caper series by Gretchen Archer, has once again transported me into the hilariously hectic and multilayered life of Davis Way Cole, Security and Undercover Specialist for the Bellissimo Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. From the onset of this series, I have thoroughly enjoyed Ms Archer’s wickedly wry sense of humor, her comedic timing is a thing of beauty, and her imagination is boundless. Her characters are multidimensional with personalities that are so unique that it defies the belief that these characters are not real-life individuals. The extraordinary circumstances that Davis, and by extension Fantasy, often find themselves in are nonstop laugh-out-loud hilarious, and with peripheral stories woven in within the story the pages can't turn fast enough.
This latest Davis Way installment starts out with a fairly mundane workday, but quickly gathers unbridled steam and races of control in a blink of an eye. Before Davis knows it, she’s lost her grasp of the casino, her co-workers, and her twin daughters…not to mention a large rabbit and humongous sheepdog. How so much mayhem and destruction could quickly unfold right before Davis and Fantasy’s eyes sets the stage for the snowball of wackiness that continues to spiral deeper out of control.
With the perfect assortment of red herrings, incorrigible characters, unraveling circumstances…Jeremy, No Hair, doing the Macarena, priceless…and wacky secondary characters this is a nonstop hilarious roller coaster ride with a finish that you won't see coming. Even though this is the eleventh installment in the series, the story and its characters are as fresh, unique, and entertaining as Davis’ first encountered mishaps. As soon as I finish one book, I began the count down to the next book’s release.
This book was complimentary, provided by the author. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
Double Dose is the latest release in the Davis Way Crime Caper series - one of my favorite cozy mystery series!
Davis and her sidekick BFF Fantasy are back for more hijinks at the Bellissimo Casino in what is possibly the longest day of their lives. Between calls from the preschool to pick up Davis' meddlesome twin girls, she and Fantasy are trying to figure out why EVERYONE in the casino has suddenly developed a terrible case of the hiccups. And that's just the beginning.
I don't want to say any more and spoil any surprises. As always, Double Dose is laugh-out-loud funny with terrific characters and fun twists along the way. While this is the eleventh book in the series, Ms. Archer keeps the story fresh. It's full of her trademark wit and humor (including those indecipherable texts from Davis' mother, which always crack me up!), along with an intricate plot that always comes together in the end.
I actually bought this book back in January when it was released, but I saved it to take on our Spring Break vacation. I knew this would be the perfect vacation read. And it was. This book is great for the pool, the beach, snuggled up by a crackling fire, even waiting in the airport for your flight or while riding on a train to your destination. Not vacationing soon? No problem! It's also a terrific read if you want to escape your reality for a while without leaving your house. :)
Pick this book up if you: 📚 like the Stephanie Plum series. 📚 enjoy a witty mystery with great characters. 📚 need an escape. 📚 are looking for a fun read.
I highly recommend Double Dose - or any other book in this series, you can't go wrong with Davis Way.
The Bellissimo Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi is the setting of this series and Double Dose will take you on a roller coaster ride and never stop until the author neatly ties all the loose ends together in the end. With the author weaving so many threads in this story you will laugh out loud while trying to figure out with Davis and her crew what is going on and why. All this while trying to keep her twin daughters out of causing trouble. Davis and her partner, Fantasy, and friends have their hands full with the staff and some guests being exposed to something and even more convoluted things happening. It's up to Davis and Fantasy, her partner to figure it all out. But as you read this book, you will laugh while trying to figure out what is going on. I will not give away the happenings but to say I really liked this book and will definitely read more from this author! I highly recommend this book. I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
Just finished reading this newest book in the Davis Way Crime Caper series. This time Davis Way Cole is getting bombarded on all sides from the twins’ school and the strange occurrences happening at the Bellissimo. Is it all coming from the new casino next door or the convention they are hosting. I love to read about Davis, Fantasy and the gang from The Bellissimo. Even Davis’ family from Pine Apple, Alabama are good for a laugh or two. There are always parts of it that have me laughing and shaking my head. How Davis ends up fixing everything is always amazing. It’s interesting how Gretchen Archer pulls everything together. If you enjoy reading about Stephanie Plum(Janet Evanovich), you’ll enjoy Davis Way Cole. Looking forward to the next problem they get involved in.
There are some strange things going on in the Bellissimo Casino. The staff and the guests have been exposed to some bad medicine with strange side effects.
Davis and Fantasy, Davis’ partner, are working hard to solve this but then more strange things begin to happen.
Where Gretchen Archer comes up with the ideas, I can’t imagine. I am just glad she does.
This is my favorite series, and it hard waiting on the nextadventure. Her characters are eccentric, but lovable. Well, most of them.
They are laugh out loud books, and we all need to laugh.
Now I have to sit back and relax waiting for the next David Way adventure.
While most Davis Way books are zany and crazy, this one was insane. Most of the time, I think, that probably wouldn't, but possibly could happen. This time that wasn't the case. It crossed way over into the suspension of belief is required zone. However, it was still funny and delightful. The twins antics were hysterical. Spider, the reporter, reappears and made me laugh out loud. Davis and Fantasy are in way over their heads as usual and Baylor is missing. This was a really good read but not quite as good as most of the previous ones in the series.
What a romp! I am once again left to wonder, where does Gretchen Archer come up with this stuff? And how does she make it so effortlessly funny and entertaining? From start to finish I could not wait to find out what was going to happen next; from cottontails and pigtails to nerve agents and secret agents, this caper has it all. And when Mom starts texting, I laugh til I cry. Well done, Davis! Well done! Five strong stars and a hearty recommendation.
Double Dose is the most recent addition to the Davis Way Crime Caper series by author Gretchen Archer. I adore this series and every book in the series. They give me all the feels (but mostly laughter). I thought this book was excellent and am so glad the series is continuing on. I look forward to reading the next Davis Way book!
Probably not my favourite in the series, but still a fun read. I would call it light and fluffy - especially in comparison with Double Wide, which was dark and scary. I didn't like the ending much, though, for me it's a hint that the series might be going to an end which I am not prepared to. I might be wrong and it's the opposite, the new beginning, let's hope for that.

Gretchen Archer's Davis Way books are a hoot! I've been enjoying them for years as a wonderful escape from reality. This latest one "Double Dose" is particularly funny. Soooooo much is going on in this one. I was exhausted after finishing it.
If you are a Gretchen Archer fan & love these Davis Way (Cole) books, this one will NOT disappoint!
Hands down, this was my favorite book of the series!! There were so many things going on, and so many twists and turns. Just when I thought I had it figured out, another surprise was on the next page! I love this series and can't wait to see what's next!
Another hilarious Davis Way adventure while trying to protect the casino and the family. A fast moving, although somewhat tedious at times, funny continuation of the previous episode with the fight taken against the new casino next door. All sorts of mayhem and atrocities abound that the security team has to handle in their own unique way. A satisfying ending to a good read.
Finally a book that's as good as the first Double Whammy. These books are written so that Davis goes through some pretty tough adventures. But she's smart and gets through the challenge. Although sometimes she cries. And that's okay.
Some of the books in this series Davis goes through way too much and it's very disturbing. This one is not too much and not like a thriller or horror book.
I lived this crazy wild romp of a book! It is the 11th in the series, and I am still wildly entertained. The characters Davis, called David by her boss, Fantasy, No Neck, Baylor, Bradley and her chaos causing twin daughters are hysterical. It is a light mystery and humor book that is clever and is heavy on the laughter!! I hope the reader gets treated to more of these books!!
Literally never thought I'd hear the words "twat-waffle" said in an audiobook, but I did! I choked on my water, sputtering in laughter, and never thought I could love the series anymore than I already did. All the while thinking this author gets me and my sense of humor. I never fail to find these books hilarious and totally relatable. Please keep the laughs coming :)
The entire book is great from BEGINNING to me as are all books by this author! I laugh so hard I have tears running down my face! My very favorite author in the whole world!
I love the details of these books. It isn't all fluff. The evolving relationships, the humor, the real issues thrown into the mix. Everything. Its so outlandish yet so relatable.
You had to read fast to stay up with the most trouble Davis, Fantasy,Bradly, and Baylor have been exposed too. As always great read, funny and fun to read. The twins need a little bit of discipline, too smart for their own good. That is not a spoiler, it starts in the first chapter.
Love the Davis Way escapades! I won't give it away, but, will tell you to grab your favorite reading spot and settle in for the non-stop fun at The Belissimo! You don't want to put it down.
I enjoyed most of the book; however, the word salad part was so stupid that I wanted to stop reading. And, no one’s kids should be allowed to behave that way, even if it was not all them at school.
I totally love this whole crazy series. I wish I had never read it just so I could read it all over again for the first time. I recommend it to anyone who can suspend belief in reality and just enjoy the whack a doodle humor. Think Lucille Ball. Think Carol Burnett.
First book by this author, must have been free on Goodreads because I don’t normally start a series in the middle. Not sure how there are so many if this is how they’re all written. Bad writing made worse by zero editing. Convoluted plot. Pages of nonsense. Normally wouldn’t have bothered finishing but hoped it might end better. Don’t waste your time.
Gretchen Archer’s Davis Way Crime Capers is one of the BEST series you will ever read! Double Dose proves Archer’s writing is entertaining, outrageously funny, and filled with bizarre characters. Her plots contain unique conspiracies that keep you turning pages into the night. The best part to me is her love for her family, which always manages to drive her to the brink of the edge, yet they always come first. Double Dose is my favorite book in the series!
So much laughter. From me as I read this absolutely wonderful book. Gretchen Archer has found multiple new ways for Davis Way to be embroiled in mayhem. I’m still laughing.
