These ruthless Farthegns have been breathing down my neck for too long, but the might of their legendary army isn’t something to take lightly. I’ll need all the warriors I can get on my side to finally put Hylmrek under my boot.
So it looks to me like there’s only one option: bringing the combined strength of Illska and Dalir down on some Farthegn sea dogs.
Then unleashing the wrath of Clan Briggs on our most dangerous enemies.
Micheal-Scott Earle does it again in the third volume of the VRS. Briggs continues his domination of the Red Forest and the Farthgan Clans. Briggs is able to clam in another wife and after returning from the north, he begins to starting looking for the bigger picture. He is able to continue to mobilize his clans to become united armies, this allows him to continue to extend his reach across the continent. You continue to see how his attitude and behavior toward his slaves and his clans are able to create an environment that promotes success. This book has its fair share of climatic battles and romantic interludes to sate anyone’s interest. Mr. Earle is able to create a story that continues to capture you imagination and speeds up your pulse. I can not wait to dive into the next chapter of the VRS adventure.
It's a great story with great characters and awesome battles, but i just wish Aaron Briggs would spend a little more time taking care of his chieftain duties, such as appraising the women of his clan and sleeping with his clansmen's wives. But i guess he'll get to that. Still one of the best harem fantasy series out there, Michael-Scott Earle knocks it out of the park.
Pretty good Events in my life kept me from reading this one cover to cover. The long breaks between reading made this book seem disjointed where it wasn't. I've given it three stars as an accurate reflection of my experience but I suspect that if I hadn't take a month I would have rated it a four. I should just add a star and delete this, but I didn't. Viking Rune Smith 3 is a lot more action, and less pontificating about the whys and wherefores. Once things gets started nobody gets very much sleep and everything happens at breakneck speed.
