Biscuits With Blanche
Facebook love for Blanche
‘The best laugh I’ve had in a long time. I’m still chuckling, brilliant.’
‘Brilliantly written, great belly laugh.’
‘Brilliant, made my day’
‘You managed to make me laugh before 8am’
‘Oh Blanche, absolutely hilarious, I’ve missed you so much. Keep the humour going, we need it’
‘Reminds me of Lily Savage, I love the letters’
‘I shouldn’t really say this as it’s so irreverent. But it is so very funny’
Hell hath no fury like a dead woman. She may have been felled by a custard cream, but Blanche doesn’t let death stand in her way when it comes to politics and revenge.
An Agony Aunt trapped in an ex-Royal’s body, Blanche dares to give the advice you wish you could give yourself. From dogging to gay marriage, no subject escapes Blanche’s acerbic tongue.
The poll tax may have been one thing, but the scrapping of free milk for children was a step too far for the mothers of Salford Precinct. Blanche is out to destroy the Conservatives, and nothing will stop her. Manipulating her correspondents, Blanche forms a small but loyal army. But will her coup be successful, and will the Prime Minister be dragged out of Number 10?

The story of a dead agony aunt who has returned to give uncensored advice and she may have seen some things!
This political satire has some side splitting moments. Blanche, the dead but wise protagonist doesn’t mince her words when it comes to giving people advice.
From failed marriages to dogging, nothing is off limits. It just so happens that the Tories need more advice than anybody (filthy buggers). I would recommend this book just for the puns alone! And if you’re a northerner of a certain age—ahem 30+—then this is like a nostalgic trip down memory lane to a time when our snowflakes didn’t melt so easily.
