Wyatt and Jake are childhood friends who, after being separated by a move, remained close over the years.
And now they're finally reunited as college roommates.

description

You eventually find out that Wyatt suffered an incredible loss after a car accident. He still has a bit of PTSD and some of those side effects are embarrassing to a young man in college. He's struggling but hopes that this fresh start with his oldest friend will help mend some of the recent trauma.

description

And it probably would have been alright if Jake hadn't been bedazzled by the tits of a demon-possessed sorority sister and decided to pledge to a Satanic fraternity.
Come on, Jake!

description

So this pretty quickly turns into Jake not realizing what's happening to him and Wyatt trying to Scooby-Doo the whole situation. Unfortunately, this isn't a case for the crew with the Mystery Machine. Wyatt is going to need someone with real occult knowledge to help him save his best friend's soul.

I'd never heard of Jon Ellis before but I was pleasantly surprised, especially since I was kind of expecting it to be trash. But I'll be on the lookout for him from here on out.
It wasn't perfect, but it was a decent little horror story and I'd like to see where he goes from here.

Wyatt and Jake have been best friends since they were kids. Jake had to move away, but now they reunite in college as roommates. Wyatt is eager to rekindle his friendship with Jake, but also wants to know what he wants to do with his life. Jakes join a fraternity, mostly just to hook-up with the hot girl Amber. However, this fraternity is strange. It has occult rituals which means it's probably not a fraternity. Jake starts acting weird after one "ritual" and then he and Wyatt's relationship starts changing, and Wyatt has to do something.

I actually enjoyed this. The story is pretty simple, not any uncharted territory, but it still works. I think what I liked most was the emphasis on the relationship between Jake and Wyatt. Their friendship and the slow destruction of it was something I cared about. That being said, I wish we saw more emotional development on Jake's side. The plot still progresses on his side and we have his friendship with Wyatt is affected, but he feel somewhat half-baked. Wyatt's a great character, navigating his fears, his skepticism, and his task to figure out the demons and how to fight them.

The very beginning of the comic and the very end made be both happy and sad. I am a bit sad about the ending of the comic, but I guess there was no other alternative.

A fun kind of buddy college movie with demonic cults added in.

Kind of rushed. This would have done really well as at least a relatively short run instead of a one off. Lots of potential to develop this into a series. Characters are strong, story was well written, the art is beautiful.

A story of friendship that many will find familiar when distance and circumstances pull you apart, but with the bonds you hope to never break. True to the medium, Ellis sets a fast pace that Hugo delivers with respect to the "graphic" in graphic novel with a layered intent of character and story, providing great visceral reactions with a dichotomy of emotions. More than once I found myself shaking my head, wtf, as the story unfolded, making me want to turn the page for more. Overall it has a nod to Tarantino with a splash of Ron Howard that pulls you into the characters...just wish there were more pages.

I'm not a big fan of the more traditional comics style of this art, unfortunately. I picked this up on a whim for a bit of graphic horror, and it was entertaining enough but didn't stick out to me much beyond that. But it does what it set out to do, so if it sounds up your alley, pick it up!

Supernatural meets college!

This was wild start to finish, but it didn’t explain why Wyatt was getting sick or freaking out..

I would’ve really enjoyed it if it was longer and stretched out a bit more

A college freshman rushes a fraternity, which is in reality a cult that disguises Satanic rituals as hazing to trick pledges into becoming demonic vessels. The pledge's best friend becomes increasingly suspicious and alarmed.

Heartwarming start, illustrating the stretched but resilient friendship between two young best friends. And the ending is similarly good, as Ellis has a knack for writing convincing male friendship.

The demon stuff in the middle is...adequate. The author thinks polygraph tests are infallible, which makes it hard to take him seriously. But for a quick, low-investment read, Fraternity does all right.

Everything from the art style to the characters themselves was a pleasure to feast my eyes on. Wyatt is extremely loyal and one can only hope to have a friend like him at some point in their lives. The only downside is that this felt a little too fast paced for me. The emotional moments would’ve made a bigger impact on my had they been set to simmer for a little bit. One moment we have Wyatt reminiscing on his friendship with Jake and the very next page we’ve got him being a badass and exorcising a demon from his best friend’s body.

Overall, “Fraternity” is about male friendship behind the supernatural demonic possession, and I would’ve rated it higher had we been given more time to breathe and get emotionally invested in Jake and Wyatt’s bond.

Wyatt and Jake have been best friends since childhood, even after Jake moved away. Now they are rooming together at college. Wyatt has become very introverted after suffering a tragedy. Jake joins a fraternity after meeting a really hot girl. That's when Jake begins acting oddly...

This was really good. Ellis has a great handle on the characters. He's even able to inject some moments that gave me a case of the feels. He makes Wyatt and Jake's friendship feel very real. Hugo Petrus's art is excellent. I always knew there was more going on in the basement of those frats.

What's here isn't bad, but it's not super memorable either. I watched the first episode of Gen V the evening I read this, and even that much has mostly replaced my thoughts of this book. It's a fairly straightforward story about a demons using a fraternity for disciples, uncovered by a pledge's long-time friend and roommate. There are a couple of additional plot threads, but nothing that really pays off (including the climax - in the back matter they mention that they changed it to be a little more focused, but they still lean on a random new character to provide the resolution.

The beginning of the story was pretty interesting, but as it went on I started to lose interest. Although there was some backstory with Wyatt and Jake's friendship, because of their separation, I didn't care about what happened with their relationship.

The character design/artwork was good, but the plot was uninteresting.

Do yourself a favor and pick this book up! If you’re looking for lovable characters you can root for, bloody scenes you want to read through your fingers, and just an overall spooky-good time, this is the book for you! 10/10 recommend. I look forward to the writer and illustrators next works.

Starts out strong with a lot of promise but fizzles out the moment they delve into John Constantine territory. The really good parts are rushed through and the not so good parts are milked for every thing they’ve not got.

Interesting story, predictable though. Some of the art is interesting. There are places it could've gone in more intriguing directions but just... Didn't.

This really felt like frat boys being frat boys with some horror elements sprinkled in. But let's be honest.. frat boys are the real horror and we all know it.

I wanted to like this more. Nice concept just poor execution. I did not care for any of the characters. the blood and nudity was not shocking, and it did not stick the landing.

Wow! This is some crazy stuff going on in a fraternity. I have never been in one cz I think this fraternity thing is only in the USA? maybe? So... Yeah... In every college movie or tv show I watch, fraternities are just wild. Are they this wild in reality?

Be aware you will find many adult scenes(naked scene) and Satan-worshiping and intense nightmares, gore, blood everywhere kinda situation going on... So yeah. Fair warning before you think this is for you. Please be advised no kid should read this cz oh damn!

The art style was super great. The story was interesting nonetheless predictable. Fun characters. Fast-paced and a simple read.

Enjoy!
Happy reading!
