Wow. I am currently recovering from an epic book hangover. I can't express how sad I was when CP Rider's Sundance series ended and I said goodbye to the characters and how much I celebrated when I saw her announcement regarding The Austin Wolves series. And the Dire Warning did not disappoint in the slightest. I was laughing out loud by page 11 and my heart was dropping by the next page. The roller coaster that this novel had my emotions on was truly out of this world. And the tension between Emmaline and Alpha Juan is ❤️‍🔥. I am eagerly anticipating the release of Dire Straits and cannot wait to see what comes next for the gang.

I loved the Sundance series so much, especially Chandra and Earl (😉 if ya know ya know). So I wanted to like this one that much too, unfortunately while I like Juan and our quirky side characters, especially Clive 🐔 ; I am not loving Emmeline so much.😏 In fact, I don't much like her. 🤨 All the wishy-washy back and forth and the Not wanting to tell Juan extremely pertinent things-like life and death things?! 🤨🤬 I'm quickly running out of patience with her. I like a slow burn, but unless we're getting more than the 3 books this is very nearly a No Burn 😏. If we're getting a few more fine, but if it's just the 3 then there's a pacing issue as far as I'm concerned. I will say the last 70-75 pages did definitely speed up the pace and turn it from an I'm not going to continue to an I will eventually read the 3rd book; however, 300+ pages is a lot to "get through" to get to the "good stuff". Especially considering we weren't really moving along with the plot line much and the main characters weren't unpacking their baggage either, especially Emmaline who we would think was making headway with her unresolved issues only to make a 180 again and be back to step 1?! Very frustrating 😤. If you like High Angst as seen in YA style fantasy books and you're looking for a crossover into a bit more of an "adult" series then this is a good choice. A bit too much angst with no real pay off for me though. 🤷‍♀️

Emmaline wants to go home to Chance, Arizona for her mother’s birthday. Although Juan doesn’t want her to go, at least alone, he doesn’t stop her. Fortunately, unbeknownst to Emmaline, Juan and Noah, Aunt Gert has installed surveillance in Emmaline’s car she is driving. When she is attacked the watchers are aware and Juan ports to the rescue.
Zeke, the former leader of the splinter group of previous Legion members, also comes to her rescue for reasons yet unknow.
Emmaline is forced to use her siren abilities as well.
Then the fun starts! While recovering from the fight, Emma and Juan take refuge at a sleazy roadside motel where they are joined by a few more allies.
The group after Emmaline does not give up though and there is a fair amount of action happening.
Emmaline is worried what Juan will think of her actual powers, he is worried what she will think of his dire wolf. They are deeply attracted to each other but also very tentative in going forward.
This is a well written, fast paced book with action, suspense, surprises, the slow romance and humour.
A Great Read!

UPDATE: I did in fact dnf. Not sure how this is getting so many good reviews. The h destroyed this story for me.

The story has nice bones but over all still lacking. It reads like a watt pad teen author. The h is very irritating, illogical and childish. Who knows an evil organization is after them and decides to travel alone? Who trusts her actual brother life with an alpha but does not actually trust said alpha? Who keeps secrets from the alpha that could actually help with her protection.? I could go on and on. She literally almost made me dnf this book. I'm not even sure I will finish the book. The alpha is the most unalpha I've ever read. Not necessarily a bad thing but think of every stereotype of an alpha werewolf and Juan does not have it. Also, he constant denying what he and everyone else know is annoying. Even the supporting characters are irritating.

Fabulous 😄♥️

Wowzers! I very much enjoyed the teaser novella that led into this full length novel, but everything ups in intensity in this book, both the action and the connection between Em and Juan - the slow burn is starting to burn a little quicker and a lot hotter 😄🔥
Along the way there’s some funny moments too, interspersed within the action, drama, angst, intrigue, twists, turns and a betrayal (😱) Such great writing 😁
No cliffhanger or hook at the end, but for me there may as well have been cos I’m wanting the next book asap - totally invested in the storyline and the characters! Said it all in the title for this review really, fab-u-lous 😁♥️

I can't get enough of this Siren song 🥰

This series gets better and better. I really enjoyed this second installment in the series, the story keeps moving forward, and the relationship between our Siren and her Alpha.

I love the dynamics between both of them but also within the group. Big things in this book shake a little the group and our heroine. Even though we discover a little bit more about Emmaline's past as a member of Legion, there's so much more to unpack that

I can't wait to read more about Em and Noah's hometown and all her peculiar citizens.

The book is brilliant, I felt it almost drag at one point, because I was impatient for the two of them to acknowlege their feelings for each other, but they do and it felt satisfying. the rest of the story is also compelling and it gets better as it goes along. I can't wait to go to the next one.

“Dire Warnings” is a great follow up to the first book of the Austin Wolves series. This time Emmaline has decided that she wants and needs to go home to Change, Arizona for her mother, Pheenie’s birthday. Juan and his Pack wants her to stay but he doesn’t want to put unnecessary pressure on her. Also, if truth be told he is unsure if she feels the same way he feels for her .

The pack has place a video and tracking device in Emmaline’s rental car unbeknownst to. It’s a good thing that they did because the video recording revealed that Emmaline is under attack. It seems the Legion has been replaced by a new more vicious circle and they want Em. Juan and Em are determined to make sure that doesn’t happen. However, in order to stop these attacks Juan and Emmaline will have to do something neither of them have done before and that is reveal their individual secrets and vulnerabilities. Hmmmm, how does that work? You will have to read this installment in order to get your answers. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
