Zeb Carter and his team have targets painted on their backs even before they arrive in Australia and New Zealand. Failure isn't an option for them. For their enemies, killing Zeb is the only option.
Australia and New Zealand are under attack.
Mysterious organized criminal gangs are stealing from their mines. Their internet, government and large private institutions are continually being cyber-attacked. Their economies are tanking. The social media in the two countries are filled with bots that are sowing mistrust and fueling civil unrest, riots and lone-shooter killings.
Their Western allies and NATO are worried. Are Russia or China behind these acts? Is it Iran or some rogue nation?
Whoever it is, they have to act fast otherwise the two countries could implode which could forever alter the world's geo-political balance.
It is not an assignment Zeb and his team would take up. They are in the country however, on vacation, and they get greenlighted.
And then the mining truck crushes Zeb's ride, with him in it.
Zeb and his team return in Highwire, with Ty Patterson's signature edge-of-the-seat writing style and razor-sharp action.

The 'Wise One' is beaten up a few times more than I would like... As the twins say, he seems to have grown old.... I would like to have the old Zeb back... Nonetheless, the story line is extremely good, with the villains one step ahead of Zeb and his team...
Another Great Read: The Latest Addition To The "Zeb Carter-Ops Series, Book 11
I received a "Beta Release Edition" of this "Thriller" from the Author prior to its release and read it in 5 hours and 8 minutes. I simply could not put it down once I started it, and I HIGHLY Recommend it to those of you who enjoy "High Octane Thrillers", (with a bit of occasional 'dark humor" thrown in).
The author, Ty Patterson, has created a great cast of characters whose interactions with one another are both simple, and complex, but always make sense once the tale is complete. The "villains", well, they are always villainous and well developed as well.
Hopefully, if you read this review, you may take the time to check out this series of books, but as always, I must add a caveat..."Start From The Beginning". There is a "backstory" and while "Highwire" could be read as a "standalone” I personally do not believe as a new reader you will be able to "catch" all the nuances within these pages if you do choose to read it as a "standalone".
Thank you for taking the time to read this review, and as always, I attempt to write a review with "NO SPOILERS". I despise reviews with spoilers.
Ty Patterson is one of a handful of authors whose new book goes straight to the top of my reading list. This one did not disappoint. What a thrill ride! Lots of twists, turns and traps. I love Zeb’s crew and their adventures. This time out they are in Australia and New Zealand trying to keep the bad guys from violently influencing the elections there. Now I have to wait until March when they go to Iran to straighten out a situation there.
This suspense action thriller is right out of the author’s imagination and for sure has worked very hard creating this latest. In his well-known signature style he has once again giving us one of those edges of the seat story with razor-sharp action.
In “Highwire” Zeb Carter and his team are in Australia and New Zealand trying to thwart the action of a mysterious organized criminal gang who are stealing from the countries mines and doing catastrophic harm to the countries economics. While the social media are fueling civil unrest...mistrust in governments is brewing.
One thing Mr. Patterson is good at is describing suspense. Through the entire story we are peppered with never ending action: gun fights, fist fights, you name it we have it. Zeb and his team are invincible and always come out without a scratch to save the day. If you like amazing feats, technical expertise and a group that foresees the unimaginable, Zeb’s team will enchant you.
On the other hand:
Ok, maybe it was very good but I must say I am the sour puss here. I had a very hard time with the never ending bing bang and fighting that never stopped. Mid-way my mind almost gave up, wanting so much to have a peaceful read. Is it that after 11 installments things becomes so predictable that the fun of reading such a story is lost... Apart from the excellent action scenes which are all the same bad guys shoot at good guys and good guys shoot at bad guys, of course all this is wrapped by a story that take the back seat I didn’t find much there.
I must stay on the fence on this one...did I like it or not..still not sure.
I am a big fan of Ty Patterson’s books. I put “Highwire” on the top of my reading list when I purchased it. Zeb Carter and his crew are excellent at solving world political problems with lots of violence, excellent tactics, and lots of blood and guts involved. I live in Australia and his story about the foreign invasion of Australia and New Zealand was well-researched and did not sideswipe the present politics of each country. The foreign villains deserved all they received and the crew, who are all MENSA – or equivalent – members plotted their tactics very well. As was usual, Zeb and the crew worked well with the local authorities although the local authorities were a bit reluctant to approve the use of guns because Australia has very strict gun laws. The team works well together and completes their adventures with little or no instructions between them. It is a stand-alone story but one can appreciate the crew’s major talents and their resources if you have followed Zeb Carter and his crew from the beginning. The story makes you think about the world and all its problems at the moment and the plot identifies with current world unrest. Once again, “Highwire” is an excellent suspenseful story.
Bored between assignments, the team decides they are due a vacation, and Australia and New Zealand are their choices. It's a good thing they aren't much for sitting around relaxing. Election time and those who have their own idea of how they should come out are all set. Not what the team and those country's leaders will allow. That is if they can stop it. Any guess who steps in to even the odds?
The police and protectors aren't exactly excited about the decision. Will they come to appreciate the team's amazing capabilities?
Once again, the author gives us non-stop action, amazing feats, technical know-how, and teamwork beyond imagination. Will the very capable villains take over the elections and defeat Zeb and the team? Whatever happens, fans know it's gonna be exciting. Thank you Mr. Patterson for once again gifting us with this page-turning winner.
What with the Christmas holidays upon us, it sure makes a lot of sense for Zeb and the covert ops team to take a holiday, having returned from quite a hair raising adventure. How could they have guessed that Zeb would get targeted upon arrival in Australia. Besides which, election time in any country is really not a problem time for visitors. But that appears to be exactly where the crux of the matter in this case lies. Elections are not really this lethal. It soon becomes clear that this might be the case in New Zealand too. Ty Paterson is the master in action thrillers and Zeb and the team are the top action investigators in anybody's books anyhow. As becomes clear in Highwire once again. And again. Having drunk so much coffee to remain clear headed as I turned the pages , I now woder if I will get to sleep some time soon too. Sure was worth it, though Enjoy.
In this action-packed thriller, Zeb and his crew are supposed to be on vacation in Australia and New Zealand. However, that is not to be when it comes to light that there have been increased cyberattacks in those countries. In addition, social media bots are also fueling unrest. There is plenty of action and suspense in this story as the team looks to find who is behind what is going on. Of course, it is not a straight line from the beginning to the end, and Zeb will need to call on all of his resources to help get to the bottom of things. I love the interactions between Zeb and his team, and how they work so fluidly together.
Zeb and his crew head to Australia for a vacation. His Boss asks them to do a small favor while there. This small favor becomes deadly for Zeb. As you might imagine, this turns into a full scale violence filled mess. Someone is trying to rig the elections but determining who, when and where is difficult. Even working with Australian authorities it is apparent this is much larger than expected. Awesome cast of characters, non stop action/intrigue/mystery with a very well plot will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Another Awesome Zeb Carter story. Going to Australia on vacation was a great idea. Adding some work even better for the boys. Mines, bikers, and government what do they have in common? Well the team needs to find out what is going on. It seems to have something to do with New Zealand also. Trying to help the agency’s in both country’s is keeping the team busy. I really enjoy the Zeb Carter books always great stories and the characters you just get wrap up in.
Zeb and the team travel down under to Australia and New Zealand for a vacation that turns into a work trip. Great glimpse at pieces of the country and culture, all while plenty of action goes into figuring out the meddling by outside forces in the elections of both countries. If you like a story that has a great plot, characters, and action Ty Patterson and the Zeb Carter series delivers them all.
This was one of the many books by Ty Patterson that I have read. Highwire is non-stop action. The characters are very well developed and as with all the thrillers by this author, I felt as though I was right there with them, experiencing all the emotions, dangers, and most of all endearing qualities these characters have. As for Highwire, hold on to your seat because this is a book you will not be able to put down! Can’t wait for the next book to come out!
Th Patterson came up.with Zen Carter as protagonist over twenty books ago ( this is #11 of the Zeb Carter thrillers, which followed about as many in The Warriors series), and the adventures continue, this time in Australia and New Zealand. A vacation for Carter and his team turns into mayhem. And it's a fine chase.
Zeb Carter and his team go on vacation to Australia and New Zealand. What they end up doing instead is assisting the government agencies is stopping attacks from other government agencies to try and take over those countries elections by inserting the people they have bought and now own. Not good for the bad guys to go up against the good guys!
I was lucky enough to have gotten a ARC copy of this book from the author. I am volunteering to leave this review. Highwire is a book that is full of non stop action. You will find that you will be sitting on the edge of your seat.
When is a vacation not a vacation? When it's taken by Zeb Carter and the team. Set in Australia and New Zealand, this book is a Non-stop what next kinda book. If you have read any of the other books by this author you know what you're getting into action, intrigue, suspense, and a satisfying ending. This story will not disappoint. The premise makes you think about the world and what is happening in it now, without being politically sided. This author's writing style does a great job in this thriller suspense story. Can't wait for the next book!
Don't think Zeb and his team are ever ment to have a holiday without a little work mixed in it. They are in Australia and New Zealand this time. Another great fast moving book which I read in one go. Keep up the good work Ty.
