Blamed for the deaths of her ex-fiancés, Rosalie Clarke has a reputation as the Outfit’s very own
black widow. But in a world where powerful men gamble with lives, Rosalie can’t tell if she’s
cursed or if her exes’ blood is on someone else’s hands.

Max has always been there, a brooding, protective constant in Rosalie’s life. He’s her father’s
most trusted enforcer, her bodyguard, and the only man who seems immune to her supposed
curse. For all their disagreements, Rosalie finds herself drawn to him, pulled in by the intensity
of his stare and the way he seems to know her better than anyone.

But there’s a dark truth lurking beneath Max’s loyalty—one that threatens to shatter Rosalie’s
world. He’s not just any man. He’s a Romano, part of the very family Rosalie was raised to hate
and fear. For years, she’s been taught the Romanos are ruthless, dangerous, and untouchable.

As Rosalie is drawn deeper into the web of lies, power, and betrayal protecting her father’s
empire, she must confront the truth about Max. With enemies closing in on all sides and secrets
that could tear everything apart, it’s time to decide whether to trust her heart . . . or turn away
from the only man who knows her truth.

In a world where love is as dangerous as loyalty, can Rosalie trust the one man she’s been
told to fear the most?

I’m not gonna lie, this book definitely did not meet my expectations at all 😭. like i didn’t sense any chemistry between the leads tbh. Max (the mmc) all he literally talked to Rosalie (the fmc) about is her damn attitude and how she needs to be loyal and respectful, blah blah. Like, before the 1 year jump, literally where did he even fall in love with her? he just seemed infatuated and all of a sudden after her death she’s the love of his life?? i don’t get it. like did i miss something? all they had even shared before the 1 year jump was a kiss and slight tension but even those were nothing to depict a love connection.

His inner monologue honestly sounded better than whatever he would say to Rosalie.

Also there should’ve been a way for Rosalie to find out about Max taking opium. I feel like if he were to tell her that and the things he experienced during that 1 year gap, THAT WOULDVE CHANGED THE NARRATIVE. they could’ve connected more. and they honestly didn’t even have any lovey dovey scenes or just scenes where they didn’t consistently argue or go back and forth. There’s banter and there’s just unnecessary back and forth. a fine line.

i expected so much more, the other books in this series were the bomb and i loved it so much but this book? definitely did not meet the criteria. i hope that if there is another book, there’s much more scenes between the characters and an actual love story.

also, i feel like there should’ve been a proper grovel. he literally faked an identity (that too, of her family’s enemy) and he didn’t even grovel. all he did was command her to marry him and move in and that’s all. and she’s like in her inner monologue - im not gonna give in, idc, he’s betrayed me - and two seconds later she’s fighting to hold in a smile and jumps on him to kiss 😃 like tf girl lmao.

definitely wouldn’t recommend this book out of the series but the other 2 were really good.

I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE 😩💚

such a perfect read to end off the year. kyra always delivers with the banter !! the tension and hype for max and rosalie in the first two books literally had me by the throat. they certainly didn’t disappoint in this 🥰 the emotions that this book brought out of me. i literally can’t even wrap my head around it. max and rosie are top tier 🤌🏼 the love, pain, struggles, heartbreak, yearning, blushing moments was just beautifully done.

this is a mafia romance, grumpy bodyguard mmc, sassy fmc, obsession, stalker tendencies, GROVELINGGG !!! oh how i love when men beg 🧎🏻‍♀️

This book had a good concept, but i didn’t like the way it was presented. What I mean is that many scenes were set up well, but the way the author developed them didn’t work as well. the banter in this book was so good tho.
i perceived this book as a forbidden romance but it was forbidden for about a couple pages and then it got perfectly normal again.

It really really sucks that my first read of the year was this. I wanted to DNF it so bad but I powered through. The second book in this serious was so good I have no idea what happened. There was zero chemistry between the main characters. Like none. They weren’t even friends. It was so forced. They didn’t even kiss until about 70%. Huge disappointment.

I hated Rosalie and Max was so sweet it didn’t even feel like a dark romance. Like okay sure he’s this mafia badass that kills people but we never saw any of that (I’m not counting Lucas). All I saw was this guy who loved Rosie and did everything for her even though she was a complete ass to him. Like to the point she became unredeemable.

Just a lot of random plot lines that were never really finished or talked about. Max’s opium addiction? Valentina? And who is the next book about… usually it’s hinted to. Anyways it doesn’t matter cause I probably won’t read it. Sad face.

"She was the axis my world turned on; the only one who’d taken over my thoughts, dreams, and fears. I was drawn to her, compelled by a feeling I couldn’t fully understand."

After Clubs, I've been waiting to finally get my hands on my this book because I've intrigued by Max's character from Spades. The chemistry and tension between this book had me on the edge of my sit. And can you believe that i finished this in 2hours in one setting that's how much i enjoyed it. However the only flaw is that unlike the other books, i could predict what was going to happen next and it felt a bit off putting considering i loved Clubs so much with Spades being a close second, but all in all i loved it so much. Plus i felt like it just jumped into action, we never got to see when they fell in love. It kind of started with Max just being head over heels and we never got to understand how, when and why he was infatuated with her.
Rosalie, i liked her character so much. I adored how her and Max had that push and pull relationship. The yearning, angst and heart wrenching moments between them literally felt like a rollercoaster of emotions. I can't explain how much it had me stressed but at the same time all their stolen glances and him dropping her home, or just being a bodyguard in general, i was living for those moments. And him being jealous, yes please, it was so hot, i was literally giggling the entire time. I also enjoyed how she put him in his place, she had this mafia boss being late to work whenever she was late for breakfast and i couldn't stop laughing.
Max, his character always intrigued me. It was sad seeing him struggle after their breakup, him resulting to harmful things, it was really devastating. But the marriage of convenience, yes please. I loved seeing how the boundaries between them broke and next thing you know they are in love. He was patient with her and never forced her to do anything. I loved how they stood up for each other, mostly at the end, it felt so fulfilling. And him killing for her, i was literally swooning because what the hell.
The only other thing that left me confused is that they didn't confess their love for each other. Is it just me who feels like for a romance book, that is just necessary?
All in all i enjoyed it and can we talk about how Kyra's writing has improved! From her debut book Spades to this, you can tell how much she's improved and can't wait to read her future books.

I am so sorry but this was such a disappointment compared to the first two. it was so choppy so rushed. one point she hated him the next she tolerated him. he loved her he could stand her he was obsessed with her. there was no chemistry between them at all simply because I couldn’t tell where they stood with each other the entire time. none of their issues were resolved. but the straw that broke the camels back? they didn’t say I love you. that PISSED ME OFF. no way did that book end without a confession from either of them. no way. hopefully the fourth is better because this was a huge drop off compared to the first two.

Firstly, thank you SO much, Kyra, for sending me the books, I’ve enjoyed them way too much!

Hearts was the book I was anticipating the most because I had seen it all over TikTok, yearning and earning 🤭so when I finished Clubs, which ended off with a smooth transition into Hearts, I was bouncing off my walls.

This book had everything I personally love as a reader: angst, tension, humour, and most importantly descriptive scenes. Every single chapter was written so well that I could picture it all in my head like a movie. Part 1 (which explains their history and what led up to what we know so far) had me gripping my chair. Even though it was packed with substance, the anxiety rushing through my veins made it feel like it flew by.

Part 2, however, was where things got real.

There were feelings being rebuilt alongside trust, wrapped up in a ‘forced’ marriage dynamic, sexual tension between Max and Rosalie in a humorous setting, and of course - a plot twist. I’m going to keep this completely spoiler-free, but the plot twist had me gasping. I didn’t expect it at all, and when it happened? Kyra truly shocked me.

So, this book was definitely a 5/5 read for me. I am absolutely hooked for Diamonds (book 4), and I cannot wait to see what Kyra does next. I recommend this to anyone who loves a good, well-written romance with actual depth.

In summary:
💖 Hearts Rating – 5/5
📚 Series Rating – 5/5
Even after the tribulations of book 1, it just got better and better.

DNF - 58%

Was this a Wattpad book or something? It was horrible. The FMC doesn’t have any personality or character traits. I mean that literally. Because there’s nothing. All she does is whine, do stupid things. Also the most funny thing was her feeling betrayed after learning about Max’s real identity and then making him think she was dead. It was such a stupid thing.

Idk what to say about Max. Idk he was a little better than Rosalie. I honestly saw a TikTok which claimed the part 2 is about hero grovelling but where was it ?

I would not recommend this one to anyone …

a nice one time read for me

I like max and rosalie. The banter and the tension was amazing, especially when he told her it was him behind all those men being 💀 because they kissed her once and his possesiveness was on another level but he was also amazing to want to earn her trust and love. He respected and loved her too much. Though everything aside i feel like I have read very similar stories like these alot so it wasnt something out of the world for me. I would give it 3.5 stars.

I can’t decide whether to rage this a 3 or 4 star, I really liked it and finished it quite quickly, however sometimes I found my self so confused like it jumped to a certain moment and I had to go back because it was a jump to a different scene.

This is definitely what you call a slow burn but I did thoroughly enjoy

I actually went back and read Spades after and there’s so many similarities from Danielle Loris books I’m not sure if that’s a coincidence or not :)

So basically this guy(MMC) had been jeopardizing her(FMC) life by killing her fiances which I guessed and that he frequently went to this person Valentina's (in her 20s) shows and I guess jacked off to her show blah blah all the while claiming to be obsessed with the FMC doesn't seem like it.
Dnfed it as soon as I started chapter 3.

IT TOOK ME AN ETERNITY TO READ THUS BOOK! I didn’t like it truthfully it was such a random ah chapters it didn’t have a nice ongoing rhythm of a plot until the second part of it which was mostly enjoyable!!! Also the ending it was too rushed I waited the whole time just for it to end like that really lame truthfully!
