Es un libro bastante corto que intenta abarcar toda la historia de los samuráis, pero lo hace de forma excesivamente concisa. Afirma datos que han sido rebatidos y omite otros por completo. Si bien está dirigido a un público infantil, eso no justifica presentar información demasiado superficial. Un buen libro introductorio debería despertar la curiosidad de los jóvenes lectores, no subestimarlos con explicaciones simplistas.

A nivel visual, se nota la intención de inspirarse en el famoso arte japonés ukiyo-e, pero la ejecución deja mucho que desear. Lo ideal habría sido mantener un estilo uniforme y limpio, en lugar de mezclar elementos que, sumados a una mala diagramación, terminan saturando el libro y haciendo que pierda el toque "japonés" que intentaba transmitir.
